"And now, the last match of the division 13 Preliminary rounds will begin! Fighters, this match will determine which of you will fight in the main event, the 25th Tenkaichi Budokai! Fighters, take the stage!" Trunks step upon the arena floor. Ryoken came upon it from the other end. The two fighters met at the center of the ring. Trunks felt like he was staring up at a giant. The boy was only about 4'8 while Ryoken stood at 5'11. Trunks looked into Ryoken's eyes. The fighter was quite serious. "The final match of this preliminary division begins now! Trunks vs Ryoken! This is it guys! All your hard work comes down to this match! Only one of you can advance!" The ref jumped off of the arena platform. Trunks would slide down into stance. Ryoken chose to stay standing up straight. This would put Trunks into confusion. "Come on dude! Put your guard up!" Ryoken shook his head left and right and then proceeded to hold out his hand. Immediately, something flew out of Trunks' pocket and into Ryoken's hand. Trunks' surprised expression appeared. Ryoken was holding the blue headband that was hidden in Trunks' pocket and was now walking toward him. This confused the crowd. Ryoken then knelt down before Trunks. "Before we begin! I think it is only right that you wear this around your head." Ryoken then proceeded to put the headband around Trunks' head. It was then that a brief memory flashed in his mind. "Here..." A figure in front of Trunks would undo a blue headband from around his head. He then proceeded to tie it around Trunks' forehead. Then another headband of the color blue would be pulled from his pocket. That one would be tied around Goten's forehead. "You are now warriors of Kyro. You may not remember us when this is over. But you will always feel that someone is watching over you. And that someone will be me. I'm proud of you boys. Keep training and never stop fighting. Protect that which you love." Trunks eyes blinked and he looked stunned. Ryoken had a warm smile on his face. He seemed speechless. Ryoken placed a hand on his Trunks' shoulder. "Good luck!" Ryoken stood up and walked back to his place in the ring. Once there he took his stance. Once that was done, his smile would vanish. The ref at this time was waving the green flag. "FIGHTERS BEGIN!" "Prepare yourself, Trunks! I come at you with all I've got!" Ryoken's face scrunched up. Then Trunks' eyes widened again. What's this weird energy I'm sensing form him?! Before he could give it a second thought Ryoken lunged rather swiftly for Trunks. Trunks put up his fore arm. Immediately a beam of energy exploded from the ring after a serious collision between the two fighters. The beam shot straight through the rough of the building, causing a large hole in the ceiling. There were screams from the audience as people took cover. Kizaku was knocked against the wall. Inside the beam of light were sounds of harsh and rapid impacted hits against each fighter. Then when everybody could stand up, they got a look at the center of the ring. The energy light was fading but they could see two people at the center. They were floating just above the ring. Flashing lights were going off rather rapidly as the two floated in the center of the ring. They were viciously trading punches and kicks at the center of the ring. The force of their impacts were enough to crumble the ring floor underneath them. Trunks and Ryoken were throwing punches wildly at each other, neither giving the other space for a second. Kizaku opened his eyes to see Trunks and Ryoken viciously striking each other. Ryoken's head snapped back as a solid punch slammed into his face. Trunks then found himself reeling forward when a knee struck his gut. The same happened to Ryoken when Trunks shoved an elbow into his gut. Trunks face was snapped to the left when a right cross slashed across his face. Then Ryoken's head was snapped back again due to the impact of an uppercut to the jaw. The two fighters proceeded to trade punches rapidly, gaining altitude at the center of the ring. They continued to rise until they went through the hole in the ceiling, causing people to run out of the building in order to see the two in the air. Ryoken and Trunks sat in mid air high above the building, spectators from the building and from others walking around watching the sky, as explosions of light filled the sky. Trunks was not missing a punch, nor was Ryoken. The two fighters then brought their palms together, both focusing energy causing a dome of energy to appear between their hands. "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!" The two fighters screamed as they viciously brought their energies out. Then they released into each other, causing the energy to explode and fill the sky with light. Then both fighters could be seen plunging headfirst from the sky toward the hole in the ceiling. The two fighters swooped right down into the hole again. They were still trading punches as they went down. The two fighters were striking each other while upside down. By now all the spectators were heading back into the building to watch the fight take place. They were having a difficult time digesting what they were seeing. They were floating in midair, upside down, rotating and punching the hell out of each other. "How....how! How are they doing that!?" Trunks and Ryoken gave one final hard punch to each other. This threw them apart for the first time in the match. Both fighters seemed to be heading for the outside of the ring. Kizaku watched Trunks and was on edge. "Don't land outside, Trunks!" Trunks flipped suddenly and dropped down to the edge of the ring. Ryoken did the same and both fighters jump several inches from their edge and took stance. That was enough to get everybody over their surprise and send them into an uproar of cheers for such a spectacular intensive start. Trunks was watching Ryoken, who seemed rather pleased. "You're pretty strong kid! But I should have expected that from you. After all I have seen your power before." Trunks memories flashed again. He saw the form of an individual in a black sleeveless shirt, red pants with nothing on his feet. Tied around his head and swaying against the wind behind it would be his dark blue headband. The figure had a strong focused expression about him and was quite toned, his black hair to upper back's length as the bangs pressed against his head, what with him facing the wind. Then Trunks came out of his memory and found he staring at the same person from his memories. "You're...." Ryoken smirked as he stood upright. "So you finally remember me, Trunks! Guess the elders didn't erase all your memories." Ryoken responded. "You faked your name then...Kento!" Trunks responded. "Of course! Was the only way to make sure I fought you before the preliminaries were over! My headband did a good job of helping you retain memories of who I was. I saw your power the day we killed Shikaro together! But I wanted to test my own against it! I want to see if I can beat you!" "If you want to fully test your power, then I guess I should quit hiding." "What do you mean?" Trunks grinned just before he stood upright, his fists tightened and now a focused glare shot over to Kento. Kento would watch with a pondering expression until he felt this unusual energy inside Trunks rising. "What's that I'm sensing?" Kento asked. Electricity was bouncing off of Trunks and traveling across the arena floor. It was almost immediately after this that Ryoken took his stance again. Trunks then crouched down and started to focus even more of his energy, causing his hair to rise. "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" Trunks shouted. Kizaku stared at Trunks with a weird expression, though his eyes stayed on him. What's he doing? "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" Trunks continued to shout, the muscles on his legs would pump up just a bit, followed by his chest and arms. Ryoken's eyes widened just a bit. But nowhere near the surprise he experienced when Trunks suddenly had a golden energy aura explode up around his body, his head now thrown back as the golden energy covered him. The crowd was stunned by this sudden change. Moments later Trunks would lower his head, his purple hair was now pure gold, eyes were green and the boy looked a bit more beefier than before. Two thick strands of golden hair hung down over his face. Trunks reassumed his stance. "If you really want to test your strength, you should try fighting a Super Saiyan." Ryoken stared at Trunks' newly transformed self. He was stunned at what the boy just did and now he knew he was in for a fight. |

"HIYA FOLKS!!!", screamed the announcement speakers surrounding the Arena. "Today if the final of the preliminaries, and our next match will be.... KALLAS MISHIMA Vs. KINO HISHAGORO!!!" The audience went into fits of cheers, drowning out all other sound in a 3 mile radius. God, thought Krillin. You'd think they just met Gandhi or something... After the audience's cheers died down, which was about 15 minutes later, the speaker carried on its announcement. Krillin listened carefully, as it was his match. "Would Kino Hishagoro please enter the ring!!" To Krillin's dismay, Kino turned out to be a really fat sumo wrestler, who was currently making his way through the largest bag of chips he had ever seen! It looked like he wasn't the only one in dismay, as half the crowds head tilted slightly to the right and nearly every one's mouth was slightly open. Wonder why they're surprised?, thought Krillin. You'd think they would have already noticed in the other preliminary matches! After another 5 minutes, the Announcer seemed to realise that everyone was waiting for him. "Um... Oh... Uh... Yeah... Would Kallas Mishima please enter the arena!!" With that Krillin walked into the arena, with a slight smile on his face. And I thought the Finals were going to be difficult!! The Referee began to give his pre-match speech to the competitors. "OK, I wanna see no foul play! You know, no aiming for your opponents manlihoods, no spitting at the opponent, no throwing mud into the opponents eyes etcetera etcetra...", mumbled the referee. "OK, and..... BEGIN!!!" Krillin watched his opponent in disgust, as he just stood there continuing to eat his chips! After about 2 minutes, Kino lifted the bag up and poured the remainder into his mouth. "OK.. Let'.s... St..art!", spat the opponent, as all the food in his mouth flew at Krillin. God, thought Krillin. That was an attack on it's own!! Krillin looked up, just to see his opponent vanish from view. HOW CAN THAT FAT BEAST DO THAT!!!, thought Krillin in disgust. Unluckily for Krillin's opponent though, Krillin was faster; he could also sense energy levels. With that, Krillin jumped into the air spinning left, as a sweeping kick flew at an immense speed past where his legs had just been. Krillin then lifted his left leg, so that on the third spin, his leg collided with his opponent, sending his smashing into the wall opposite the arena, before falling to the ground. "AND THE MATCH IS OVER BY RING-OUT!!!", screamed the announcer. "It was a very surprising match, and it was over a bit too quickly, but..... KALLAS MISHIMA IS THROUGH TO THE FINAL 16!!!" With that, Krillin smiled and left the arena. I guess appearances can be deceiving. I better remember that one if I'm gonna win!!! |

As Krillin left the arena, his stomach began to rumble rather loudly. I guess it is about time I got something to eat, he thought, as the crowd stared at him awkwardly; it had been a rather loud rumble. As he left the stadium, he remembered there was a restaurant across the road that sold some good sushi. Just the thought of it caused his stomach to start rumbling again. I better get over there quickly!! With that Krillin began to sprint across the road, the restaurant in his sights. Krillin had always been greedy when it came to food. His girlfriends hated him for it, but restaurants loved him. To them, it was a month's income in an hour, and he usually stayed for three! He was at the restaurant within minutes. Upon entering, he casually sat down and began to look at today's menu. Sushi, Sushi, Sushi, he began to think, rather repetitively. After looking at the first three choices on the menu, he raised his hand to call over the waiter. "How can I help you sir?", asked the waiter, trying to be polite. "Hi", answered Krillin. "I'll have two of everything on the menu. Also, put two plates of bread on the side. Oh yeah, and an extra large glass of coke. A big drink is always needed to wash down a large meal". The waiter seemed to just stare at him as he attempted to write down the order. This is gonna take a while, he thought, as he began to sweat profusely. "Hmmm.... OK sir. We will have the meal with you as fast as we can", said the waiter, before turning around and sprinting to the kitchens. Krillin looked around. There wasn't a lot of people in at the moment, so he expected the meal within an hour. His stomach began to rumble again at the thought of how long it would be. Maybe I shouldn't have ordered such a big meal, thought Krillin as he patted his stomach. This is gonna take a while.... |

~3 hours later~ "And... here....is... the.... last..... of..... your.... order.... sir", panted the waiter. Over the course of 3 hours he'd had to race from the kitchen to Krillin's table to deliver the meals. He could finish each one in 30 seconds flat, so keeping up with him had really tested the waiter's stamina. "That was a bit slow. I finished the last bowl of seaweed wrapped crab 8 seconds ago. I guess your starting to feel the strain of my eating habits...... I know! I'll leave you a tip!" This perked the waiter up. The meal was going to cost a fortune, so he should leave a big tip. Well that's what the waiter thought anyway. "Anyway, I'd like the bill now", said Krillin between slurps of his giant sized coke. That meal had really tested Krillin's stamina as well. "Right away sir!", exclaimed the waiter, before beginning to sprint once more. He arrived at the cash register in seconds and began to print out the bill. The overall total was 15,000 Zeni!! The waiter walked back over to the table. He didn't have to work so hard now, as the meal was finished and he'd already been promised a tip. Upon reaching the table, he placed the receipt down with a pen. All meals that cost over 2,000 Zeni require a signature. Krillin quickly signed the receipt before checking it. His face went blank. "15,000 Zeni?", asked Krillin, as he began to feel dizzy. That was nearly all his current prize winnings. "Yes sir", replied the waiter, ready to pounce on him if he didn't pay up. A lot of customers tried to run, so it was the restaurant's policy to only hire fit, agile staff to chase after them. Searching through his pockets, Krillin found the bag with the money he'd won and threw it at the waiter. "You can count it and the change can be your tip", said Krillin, not mentioning the change was about 16 Zeni. This time, the waiter's face went blank... |

Sounds of punching and kicking filled the arena area which was rather strange as there appeared to be nobody in the ring, at least at first sight. The crowd looked around, trying to get a fix on where the sounds were coming from. Then suddenly an explosion of dust went off at the center of the ring. That caused everybody to jump from edginess. Kizaku sat there trying to watch the fight as well. For some reason he knew what was going on. He then turned to the left side of the ring and his eyes widened. He saw Trunks dashing backwards across the ring. Kento was on the offensive, chasing after him. Kizaku followed them to the other edge of the ring where another explosion of dust went off after impact was made between the two fighters. The same dust explosions went off several times in a matter of five seconds apart. "I can't see them anymore?" "Did they vanish?" "No! I can still hear them fighting! "I see! They're moving so fast the human eye can't see them!" Kizaku said. So why is it that I can? Kizaku asked himself. Trunks was knocked back by a vicious punch across the jaw. He landed on the edge of the ring causing dust to fly off into teh face of the crowd behind him. Kento was charging in fast. Trunks bolted to the right side. Kento reached the edge missing a punch but causing more dust to fly off into the crowd. Trunks stopped advancing right and bolted for the center of the ring just in time to miss another punch by Kento. Still they were sending dust flying in different directions, causing the crowd to be blinded. Kento was throwing punches at Trunks as fast as he could get them out. Trunks' forearms were meeting each punch rather flawlessly. The two fighters were blazing around the ring, Kento attacking, Trunks defending. Then suddenly Trunks body could be seen spinning in a ball above the arena floor. Kento went with a flying kick for the spinning boy's body. Trunks stopped his spinning in time to use both hands to block the kick. The two fighters then bolted to the arena floor where Trunks did a backhand spring avoiding a sweep kick. Kento rushed in fast for a downshifting punch, Trunks dodged it by jumping to the side. Kento vanished and appeared where Trunks was going to land. He threw punch for Trunks only to have it hit nothing but air when Trunks vanished again. Kento vanished as well. The crowd on the left side of the room had to sink down to the floor. Trunks and Kento had appeared above them. Kento was swinging furiously at Trunks in midair. Trunks was merely moving side to side to avoid the hits. He then caught Kento's fists to put a stop to his swinging. He then gave Kento a vicious right cross which sent him flying back to the ring. It was there he crashed into the asphalt. Kento rose to one knee. He'd be on that knee when Trunks landed on the ground in front of him, his powerful yellow aura around his body. Kento stared at Trunks with eyes widened by surprise. That transformation of his! It's made his speed superior to mine as is his strength. Trunks then proceeded to stand at an angle and aim a palm at Kento. Kento's surprise turned to fear. Traces of gold energy began to draw into Trunks' palm. Eventually a power ball appeared in front of his hand. "You wouldn't fire that in here would you? There's people all around!" Kento reasoned. Trunks looked around with his eyes. A power blast would devestate the crowd sure but it definitely had enough power in it to defeat Kento. He then focused his eyes on Kento who was now standing on his feet completely. "Trunks...?" Trunks still did not answer. Instead he turned completely toward Kento and aimed his other palm, a power ball appearing in front of it as well. The crowd began to gaze in fear. "Trunks, what are you doing? You can't fire energy blasts in here!" Kizaku shouted. "Listen to your friend, Trunks! Do you want to hurt these people?" Kento asked. Trunks gave a grin. "They won't get hurt...if they duck!" Kento turned around and shouted to the crowd. "EVERYBODY GET DOWN!" Kento shouted. Trunks' sly grin appeared. "Gotcha!" He vanished suddenly. Kento then turned around in surprise. Time slowed down for him. Trunks had his hands pressed up against Kento's stomach. He had a near evil grin on his face. Kento's mouth opened to say something. "NOOOOO!" "HAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!" Trunks released the energy into Kento's stomach and sent him flying out of the ring. He hit the wall and went through it, landing on the ground outside. The crowd and the ref stared out through the hole in fear. Trunks then placed his fists against his hips and stared with a grin at Kento's body staggering to get up from the ground. His golden glow faded, hair returning to normal color and dropping down to how it was before. His eyes also returned to normal as did his body. "The winner of the match! Trunks!" screamed the ref! Kizaku stared at Trunks in surprise. Trunks hopped out of the ring and walked over to Kizaku. "Heh, he fell for it! I can't believe it." "DUDE! YOU SCARED ME!" Kizaku shouted. "That was the point of the trick." Trunks walked out of the building and over to the now staggering Kento. He extended a handshake out to him. "Nice fight!" "That was a great fight! You're very strong!" Kento responded. "Yeah so are you! Too bad you fell for my trick." Trunks responded. "Well we'll fight again one day! And when we do, that trick won't save you!" Kento responded. "We shall see!" Trunks responded. "Yes, good luck in the final competition. I'll be watching in the stands." Kento responded. He then proceeded to walk off. Trunks turned to Kizaku and flashed the peace sign. "How do ya like that? We're both in the top 16 now. I can't wait to see who I end up fighting in the first match!" Trunks responded. Trunks took off to find his mom and relay the good news. Kizaku trailed behind him, flying because he couldnt keep up with Trunks' running speed. |

I think it is only right that you wear this around your head." "What the hell?" asked Bardock as he watched Trunks place the headband upon his forehead and suddenly his eyes went blank. Bardock raised an eyebrow thinking that the other fighter was using some sort of technique to paralyze the small saiyan but his fears were unfounded as Trunks snapped back with a surprised look upon his face. The fighter named Ryoken patted Trunks on the shoulder and wished him luck as he strode across the arena and set himself for the fight. Bardock wasn't sure what had passed in the ring but he was eager for the fight to get on, he wanted to at least see how far the kid had come since Avalon. Hopefully the guy will last long enough so I can actually see something thought the saiyan. Ryoken lunged rather swiftly for Trunks. Trunks put up his fore arm. Immediately a beam of energy exploded from the ring after a serious collision between the two fighters. The beam shot straight through the rough of the building, causing a large hole in the ceiling. This threw them apart for the first time in the match. Both fighters seemed to be heading for the outside of the ring. Kizaku watched Trunks and was on edge. "Don't land outside, Trunks!" shouted the kid from across the ring. Bardock wasn't paying any attention to the crowd's gasp his eyes were locked in the struggle taking place below, it was closer than Bardock had anticapated. Just by watching the battle Bardock could see each fighter's strengths: Trunks had the advantage of speed but his opponent was very skilled and his control was superb. Even Bardock was having trouble trying to determine the outcome of the fight. The blows were still raining as Bardock saw each parry and strike his eyes almost shining with focus. Trunks flipped suddenly and dropped down to the edge of the ring. After all I have seen your power before." Stated the fighter rather matterly of factly. Trunks seemed to hesitate then brighten and the two began chatting, "These two know each other?" questioned Bardock rather surprised. He had never heard Trunks ever mention to him about a fighter of Ryoken's quality being on Earth. It would have been an important little fact to know... Trunks was grinned just before he stood upright, his fists tightened and now a focused glare shot over to Kento. Kento would watch with a pondering expression until he felt this unusual energy inside Trunks rising. "What's that I'm sensing?" Bardock asked. Electricity was bouncing off of Trunks and traveling across the arena floor. It was almost immediately after this that Ryoken took his stance again. Two thick strands of golden hair hung down over his face. Trunks reassumed his stance. "If you really want to test your strength, you should try fighting a Super Saiyan." Ryoken stared at Trunks' newly transformed self but he wasn't the only one staring. The entire crowd was on edge as well as Bardock. "When...how...?" stuttered Bardock. It had taken the saiyan more than 40 years to achieve his super saiyan power and now here was this kid who had somehow managed to achieve the same power at such a young age. It was rather galling...until Bardock couldn't help but start to laugh. "So this is what you could really do Trunks?" chuckled Bardock as the crowd still stared transfixed as the battle restarted. "You have sure surprised me kid but now I want to fight you more than ever," said Bardock with a grin. The same dust explosions went off several times in a matter of five seconds apart. "I can't see them anymore?" "Did they vanish?" "No! I can still hear them fighting! Bardock watched the fighters shoot across the ring each time they blew up dust from their intense speed and their strikes. What was getting Bardock however was the fact that Trunks seemed to be completely on the defensive even though Bardock knew that with the child's super saiyan power he should be pushing this Ryoken or Kento guy around. He then caught Kento's fists to put a stop to his swinging. He then gave Kento a vicious right cross which sent him flying back to the ring. It was there he crashed into the asphalt. Finally went on the offensive said Bardock with a sort of sigh. Trunks was still fighting like a kid choosing to play with his opponent, Bardock was not so kind he had learned first hand that such a tactic in battle left you open for reprisals, the kind that usually get you killed in real fights. He had been trying to get Trunks to see that not every battle would be like this tournament and that he would need to toughen up if he was to survive... Bardock smiled, "I was wrong Trunks, looks like you did pick up a few tips from fighting me," said Bardock. But the saiyan knew what it meant, the child was tricky like him and his super saiyan power meant that Bardock was not going to have a cake walk when he fought the younger saiyan but unfortunately for Trunks he had a few new tricks up his sleeve as well... Bardock left the stands to go prepare for the finals and get in some last minute training while he was at it. |

16 Supreme The hours would seem to pass by quickly for no sooner had she gone off with Gohan to hang out were they announcing the end of the preliminary rounds as well as the pairings for the top 16 rounds. Videl had been eager for this moment since she had gained entry into the top round competition. Since they were planning to broadcast the pairings all over the island, the competing fighters were not required to be present in the main room for the pairings. Still Videl could not help but be ringside when she found out who her opponent would be. "Attention all who have made it to the top 16! We will begin pairing off each of you for the first series of matches. As you know, each of you have a number for the division you successfully advanced in. Those numbers will be drawn randomly from this machine! Your numbers have been placed on a ball! The machine will mix these balls up then one will come out and fall into the basket where our official here will take it out and read off the number. We will start now for the first match." Videl would be present in the main room at this time for the drawing. She had not bothered to look around to see who all was present. That was pointless for the time being and she didn't want to be distracted when the numbers were called. She watched the machine rattle and shake. Now she could feel tension as the machine was ready to produce the first number. The ball came rolling through the tube and dropped into the basket. She could feel 16 pairs of eyes staring at the basket and the official who pulled out the ball. He would look at it and then read it off. "The first number for match one is number four! Fighter number four!" The 2nd official with him proceeded to write down a name a large bracket sheet across the room. Videl's number was 15. If that was the next number that came out, she would be facing off against fighter number 4. She watched as the machine began to rattle and shake again. Moments later it produced the second ball. The official grabbed from the basket. Videl could feel herself becoming tense again. "The next number is number eight! Fighters 4 and 8 will face off in the first match! Now onto the second." It proceeded like this again. The machine would rattle and shake, then produce the next ball. Videl's muscles tightened each time. "Number 1! We have number 1 for match two!" The machine would produce the next ball. She would be tense until her number was finally called. The official grabbed the newly produced ball. "We have number 2! Fighters 1 and 2 will fight in the second match!" This is too intense for words! I wish they'd call my number already! "Match 3..." The ball was produced and grabbed by the official. "We have number 5!" The next one would be produced at that time. "Number 14!" Then came match 4... "Numbers 9 and 15!" Videl released all of her tension in one good breath. Her number was called finally. She'd be in the fourth match. "Next up for match 5, numbers 13 and 7!" Videl sat around for the rest of the pairings. She knew Trunks was number 13 and his friend was number 16. Looks like Trunks was fighting in match 5. "Next up for match 6...numbers 16 and 10!" "Match 7, 11 and 6 and finally match 8 numbers 12 and 3! This means the pairings will be as follows:" The fighters would begin to scan the room for their opponents. "In match one we have, Giant vs Jericho! Match 2 we have Bardock vs Aristol! Match 3 Gohan vs Tycko! Match 4 Orion vs Videl! Match 5 is Trunks vs Payne! Match 6 is Zachariah vs Ishrayne! We have for the seventh match, Quake vs Hercule Satan! The last and final match is Kallas vs Colt! Fighters take the rest of this day to prepare! The first match starts tomorrow 9 o'clock sharp! If you are late you will forfeit! Good day to you!" The fighters were free now to leave and do as they please until tomorrow. Videl decided she would wait until tomorrow to meet this Orion character as she wanted to be surprised. The less she knew about her opponent the more she would be determined to be ready for him and so she went off to prepare herself. She had to wonder about her father though. His opponent didn't sound very weak at all. Maybe finally he'd finally have an incentive to train hard instead of boasting and bragging about a seven year old event. |

Bardock was looking at the lineup for the top 16 as his eyes roved over the list of contestants as his eyes finally settled on Trunks. It looked like Bardock would have to wait until the very end to get his fight with Trunks. Which means I can't afford to lose, thought Bardock as he looked over toward the younger saiyan as he chatted with Kizaku who had also made it to the top 16. Bardock turned and walked out of the arena toward the street before he took off. Bardock knew that the top 16 wouldn't start till tomorrow but as Bardock flew through the sky the wind rustling his hair he couldn't help but think about what he had witnessed in the arena earlier that day. He had not expected Trunks to obtain such power and it all the more put Bardock off. He had always trained with the younger one seeing the potential in him to one day become a great fighter but as it stood now the kid had surpassed Bardock even at an earlier age than the saiyan could have predicted. Bardock was a proud warrior and he couldn't let some uppty kid show him up but to do that he would have to have as many aces up his sleeve as he possibly could hold. To do that he would have to get some extra training and Bardock knew exactly who he needed to go to. Bardock arrived on the shores of the Kame House as he walked up to the door and managing to control his strength he knocked upon the house door. The door rattled as if it was going to buckle but it held in it's frame as a voice could be heard from the inside. "What is it, what is it?" came the scratchy voiced elder as he walked up to the screen door and opened it up. "Well if it isn't Bardock? Haven't seen you in awhile what is going on?" "Master," said Bardock pleadingly, "I have come to finish my training." "Why the sudden interest? Hmm?" questioned the old master as he pondered his former student. He looked up into Bardock's eyes and he found a certain uncertainty there that the made the master almost chuckle. It had been awhile since he had seen that look when Bardock had first arrived at his house seeking training to grow stronger. The old master had heard the other's tales of how powerful the saiyan had become but it seemed that Bardock still sought certainty. If he had only overcome that silly warrior's pride of his then he could really show the world what he could do. Thought the old master as he scratched his beard, "How much time do we have to complete your training?" asked the old man. "Less than a day," admitted the saiyan as he looked down and the old man sputtered, "Less than a day!? Oh you certainly like cutting things to the quick don't you?...Very well," said the old master as his sunglasses flashed in the noon sunlight. ::Several hours later:: "No, no, that's not how you do it," said Roshi with a sigh. Bardock was doing a stance as if he was preparing to unsheath a blade and strike, apparantly his training had been too focused on the sword lately. It was fine in combat to the death but the Tournament was strictly without weapons and so the stances were useless leaving many open holes to be struck at. It took awhile but Bardock was able to relearn his stances and not only that the old master taught him the most secret of Kame-sannin stances: The Tidal Rip-a technique that allowed the user strike so quickly it would create a vortex of wind that sucks his opponent toward him. And Faint strike- the mad cow form focused on this stance which allowed the fighter to make his moves very hard to predict. Roshi nodded impressed with how fast the saiyan was picking these styles up, It took me years to master these forms and he picks them up in a few hours...it's incredible! Though it is a bit odd that he only started getting them down when I preformed the moves myself... The master was a bit intrigued with how the saiyan had gotten the ability to mimic and master moves but it would be saved for another time. "Bardock, before you left I was about to finish teaching you three of my most famous moves but since you returned would you like to learn them now?" Bardock stopped practicing his new stances trying them in mid-air to see if they would also be as effective in the air. "Great!" said Bardock coming to the ground, "let's get started." Bardock was later practicing his blast punch ability, "You said that your opponent specializes in speed this technique will no doubt take him by surprise, utilize your latent energy and release the attack before your punch even connects with him," said Roshi as Bardock kept trying to push the energy out of his fist. Most of his attempts resulted in him firing a powerblast obliterating the rock or having his fist just go through the rock and no energy come out. It took 50 more tries before Bardock was able to get the attack timed percisely. Now it had been a few more hours and the sun was getting low to the horizon. Bardock was panting now as the smoldering crater that was formerly a boulder stood in front of him. His fist was slightly smoking from the energy he had released from it. Roshi watched the sun go down, "There isn't much time," said the old master. 2 am Bardock panted as the rain of energy from the Kakusandan rained upon the ground creating a miniture craters. For awhile now Bardock had been practicing more with controling the blast mid-flight. This was done by Roshi throwing several plates into the air and Bardock trying to hit the flying discs. Roshi warned to not use the attack however, hitting flying discs was one thing to hit a moving target like the younger saiyan was another thing. "The final technique I am going to show you is the most dangerous move I have in that it is very strong but can hurt you as well because it draws on something more powerful than ki. It draws on your very lifeforce," Bardock nodded as Roshi talked about how to utilize the technique then for demonstration the old man used it. The Tri-beam cut through a mountain leaving it tumbling into rubble. The old man walked inside while the saiyan began trying to draw onto his life force. ::Dawn of the next day:: The old master walked out onto the beach and stretched until his eye caught the saiyan in mid-air. Bardock looked rather drained and exhausted but he focused his energy and then. "Tri-beam HAA!" roared the saiyan as his blast carved a trigonal hole into the ocean floor he was above as the water dropped down to fill in the gap left by the saiyan's energy. The saiyan chuckled as he had finished mastering the technique before he dropped into the ocean unconscious. "Oh dear," said Roshi as he turned to Turtle. "Best you go get him Turtle," said the old master as the Turtle bobbed his head and went out into the ocean. A few minutes passed as Roshi went back into the house and came out holding a sensu bean, he had gotten a bag recently from Korin and it looked like keeping it was a good idea. Turtle had finally drug the unconscious sayian on the beach when Roshi had gotten back with the bean. Shoving the bean into Bardock's mouth the Turtle and the old master waited for signs of life. Bardock woke up and sat up straight coughing up some sea water as he did so. "I wasn't quite sure whether to treat you for the drowning or the life force you sucked out of yourself so I did both," joked the old master as Bardock stood up straight and sighed. The look of confidence was back in his eyes, "I'm ready to give it my all master," said Bardock looking at the old man. "Well you better hurry your match is starting in an hour," said Roshi. Bardock then started, "An hour!!? Why didn't you tell me to stop sooner!?" "Because I thought you could finish mastering the last one," admitted the master candidly. Bardock started running along the beach cursing the old man's lack of sense. Bardock turned super saiyan and burst into flight careening as fast as he could across the skies. "Think he'll make it master?" questioned Turtle of his old friend, "He'll be fine," said Roshi as he watched the last burning yellow aura fade into the sky. ::50 mins later:: "I always have to cut it close," said Bardock through gritted teeth as he landed upon the ground outside of the arena cutting off his super saiyan form and running into the stands. "Where have you been!?" cried one of the officials as Bardock knocked him over as he hurried onto the arena. "Ladies and gentlemen it appears that Bardock has finally arrived!" said the announcer to the cheering crowd as the saiyan hopped up on stage breathing a little heavy. In front of him stood Aristol Bardock partly cursed his tardiness because he had missed the earlier fight but he knew that he couldn't change that now. He would just have to hope his new training would pay off. Aristol was wearing a normal gui except his was of a darker gray than most guis and he was wearing a 8 degree black belt. Bardock could only guess as to what martial art this man had mastered as he settled into a normal tiger's stance. The man just seemed to smirk and settle into a mantis as the ref looked between the two fighters, "Ready? And begin!" announced the ref starting the match. |

Bardock stood across from his opponent before his opponent made the first move, shifting his weight Aristol came straight for the saiyan throwing a combo of a knee strike followed into a kick flip aimed for the saiyan's head. Bardock sidestepped both the attacks watching as the strikes hit mid-air in what appeared to be slow motion to him. As the attacks recoiled Bardock stepped back into place. To the audience it appeared that Bardock had not even moved from his spot it looked as if the combonation had hit nothing but air. Aristol was more than surprised that his attacks missed so he got back into his stance and started throwing combos of hand slashes and kicks and punches but all of them which seemed to hit the saiyan felt nothing but air. The audience who had never seen the saiyan fight before thought that this was some sort of trick or stunt being pulled. The audience started screaming that Aristol wasn't even trying and that the two were just standing there. Except Aristol knew something was wrong because he was trying to hit the saiyan as sweat poured down his face he tried one last triple roundhouse which again met nothing but air as he leapt backwards. Bardock seemed to be in the same place as he was before as if he was made of air. What the hell is going on? thought Aristol as he stared at the saiyan. Is he made of air? Why aren't my attacks hitting? It was then that by chance his eyes roved over the ground at the saiyan's feet and he saw the scuff marks on the floor. At first it dawned upon him what had happened but he threw it out almost as soon as it passed through his head. After all it was impossible...how could anyone move that fast? But as Aristol stood there panting and looking into the saiyan's eyes he suddenly knew that it was true...this man was faster than the speed of light! "Who...are you?" said Aristol in shock as he looked into Bardock's onyx eyes. "My name is Bardock and I am a saiyan," stated Bardock as his monkey tail swished. "A sayian?" Aristol had never heard of such a thing but though he knew his opponent outclassed him he knew that he couldn't backdown. "Well saiyan I know you are fast but if you are a true man then let's see if you can take my full strength," stated Aristol as he started focusing his strength for his penultimate attack: 69 strike. Bardock settled into one of his new stances: the Tidal Rip. Aristol roared as he charged Bardock leaping into the air and preparing his strike. Bardock threw a punch to meet him as he did so he unleashed the side-effect of his new style. A vortex was made from the energy released from his strike; a vaccum opened between Aristol and Bardock causing the man who was in the air to be sucked right into Bardock's fist full force. The blow caused blood to erupt from his mouth as he gaped open in surprise. He had never expected such a strange counter attack and he was sent bouncing from the rock hard fist to the tile of the arena. He continued skidding across the floor until he buried his fist in the tile just managing to drag himself to a stop before he fell out. "What the hell are you? What kind of strength do you possess?" asked the man as he barely managed to pull himself to his feet gripping his shattered ribs in horrifying pain. "Strength? I'm trying to hold back as much as I can," admitted Bardock honestly, if he had gone all out his fist would have broken the man in half but that would have disqualified him from the tournament. Aristol looked at him as any chance he might have had went out of the air. He suddenly dropped his head and began to cry. "Is this what my training has got me? To hit another wall, to find myself wanting again and again and again?" He had always lived in his brother's shadow his entire life and he had always expected this tournament to be his coming out from the shadow of his brother. To finally become a great fighter in his own right and now he was faced up against someone who he had no chance to beat. It just wasn't fair... Aristol looked over at Bardock with a strange look in his eyes and spoke the following, "I know now that my life was a waste...that I am a waste. It is now with a certainty that you have given me that I do the following," with that statement the man produced a hidden knife from his clothes and then suddenly thrust it toward his heart. Right as the knife was about to strike his chest he had his arm wrenched away from him. Looking up in shock at the hand that grabbed his wrist he saw that the saiyan had moved all the way from across the ring to stop his killing stroke. "Let go of me!" demanded the warrior of Bardock. "Are you a warrior?" asked Bardock of the human. "What?" asked Aristol. "You come here today as a so called warrior ready to stake your honor and your glory in the heat of battle. And now you are about to end your life just because you have found out how weak you are? That's pathetic," spat Bardock. "A true warrior is not a person who gives up at the first sign that he is lacking, he presses on, he overcomes his weaknesses. He lives so that he can grow. Killing yourself is dishonoring you, saying that you are a warrior or a fighter and then killing yourself disgraces us all." With that Bardock wrenched the knife from Aristol's hand and crushed the metal to a pulp and hurled the debris out of the stands. Aristol was now crying seemingly glued to the floor to which he fell, "But how can I defeat you?" said the man as he struck the arena. Bardock then spoke, "If you wish to have more power or better training then seek out the Turtle Hermit, he will teach you the limits of your power." "And if it isn't enough?" questioned the warrior. "Then I am not to be your opponent or rival, but your friend," said Bardock with a smile as he held out his hand to help the man up. Aristol sighed and wiped his face clean and grabbed Bardock's hand as he was lifted to his feet. "Thank you...friend," said Aristol gratefully. He watched as the saiyan smiled and for the first time Aristol suddenly felt that he had become something stronger, and that by facing this wall he suddenly found a way to overcome his own walls and his own limits. "So where is this Turtle Hermit?" asked Aristol and Bardock smiled. "I'll tell you after the battle," said Bardock, "but first I hope you forgive me for what I am about to do." Aristol looked questioningly toward Bardock as the saiyan held up a finger. Pushing forward Bardock sent Aristol flailingly out of the arena with just an index finger. Aristol looked a little silly laying outside of the arena with his feet in his face and his eyes wide but the crowd who was on its seat after the near suicide in the ring was sent falling to the ground in surprise and shock. "Er, well it appears the winner of the match is Bardock!" shouted the refree as the crowd got back to it's feet a few of them were clapping in shock and awe. As Bardock departed from the ring a man looked at him with hunger of unknown proportions burning in his eyes. Soon your power shall be my own saiyan, thought the man with the eyes filled with greed his face mostly hidden in the shadows of the outclove of the arena's stands. Jericho turned on his heels and left the stands heading back to prepare for his oncoming fight with the saiyan. (Note: If Jericho did not win the fight before mine then please post the fight below or correct me so I can fix the last bit.) |
