A hellacious fire is sweeping across the lower suburbs of North City. Despite the valliant efforts of the local fire department, this blaze has yet to be extinquished or even contained. The cause of this catastrophe still remains unknown. Reports indicate that several thousand innocent members of this thriving community still remain in grave danger. Fending off the fire can be left to the professionals. Your orders are to get those people out of their homes, no matter what! Location: Earth Difficulty: Medium (10 post, 2 day minimum) Reward: +600 zeni, +3 DP, +20 all stats, +3 Rp Credits Available: Yes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The hour grew late in the day as the beast continued to track it's prey. Cell had been in persuit of Android 17 since their first encounter high a top the lookout of Earth's Guardian, Kami. Relentless in his quest to be complete and realize the horrific dream of the evil Dr. Gero, Cell let nothing get in his way. Days and nights of endless searching, and yet he always seemed to be one step behind the android. Having only to follow the android's path of destruction that it had left in it's wake, Cell would soon realize that his transformation would soon be at hand. Darkness crept over the mountains, and down into the valley. Visibility would now begin to become unclear. In the dim light of the day, his sensors would be unable to adjust. Having only to rely on the last transmission of the androids power, Cell would have no choice but to either wait for another android attack, or search the city by cover of night. This would prove to be no dire decision for the beast. ::Thump Thump:: ::Thump Thump:: The sound of thousands of hearts beating across the city sounded more beautiful than any symphony or choir in heaven to the monster. With an unquenchable thirst for energy, Cell began to make his way down into the unsuspecting city. There were few people still out wandering the streets, and even fewer signs of the android. Finding 17 would not be an easy task. "Hey buddy!" a man yelled out to Cell. Still concealed by shadow, he would continue to ignore him. "Hey you!" he continued. "Yeah I'm talking to you." Feeling insulted that his cries would go unanswered, he hastily approached the creature. Standing in the entrance to the small alley, the man would begin to repeatedly slap a large wooden bat into his palm. "Hey maybe you don't hear so good!" he yelled as he took a few more steps inward. "I said..." The man gasped as Cell turned around. With large glowing eyes he would peer down at him. Terrified by what he would see emerging from the shadows, the man would slowly take several steps back. "What are you!?" he screamed out as he turned his back to flee. One, two, three steps were taken before his movements all but ceased. A sharp pain surged up through his back, and down through his body. Protruding from the base of his spine was a large needle like object. He would scream as best he could as he felt his body begin to weaken. Moments later the man's cries for help would be replaced by a muffled gurgle sound, and then silence. Having been pulled back into the dark alley, all that now remain of him were a few articles of scattered clothing. No blood...no body... |

Several hours later......a fire had broke out and no one could stop it. The city streets were a playground as crooks and criminals of all kinds raided shops of all kinds. A young boy no older than thirteen passed him carrying a large television stolen from the local supermarket. Times like these are what made Android 17 glad to be a cyborg. He was fueled by the hatred for all of mankind and anyone who opposed him. These humans were a disease, and he was the cure for this particular virus. “These people have no reason and no purpose” he said to himself as he continued to walk through the chaotic streets. He looked to his left and saw a women being dragged out of her car by two other women. They threw the defenseless women to the ground and made off with her luxurious car. He did not feel a single ounce of emotion as the fire consumed families’ houses. Their screams were music to Android 17’s ears. Besides, he had been the cause of the fire in the first place; however, it was not so that he could watch humans suffer. He had done it as a strategic move. 17 realized he was being followed by a creature that loathed his existence, but he felt the exact same way. The two were created to be enemies, and they both knew that one must die in order for the other to excel. The sound of a gun being cocked echoed from behind Android 17. “How bout you give us your money, pretty boy,” a thug wielding a shotgun muttered from behind Android 17. Android 17 turned around as began to laugh. He noticed the man was guarded by three other very large men carrying bats. “I think I’ll take choice B,” Android 17 chuckled. “Hey kid, there was no cho….,” the man’s sentence was interrupted as Android 17 shoved his knee into his stomach. He watched the thug fall to the ground as he pulled the trigger to the shotgun. Android 17 shoved the barrel away as the gun went off. His three henchmen took a step back when the gun went off but then charged Android 17. |

"Daddy!" cried out the voice of a small girl. "Where are you, Daddy?" Helpless within the confines of her own home, the young girl continued to cry for help as the searing flames rose up the side of her apartment building. With the ground floor consumed in fire, there seemed to be no escape. It seemed as though the final decision she would have to make now would be either to jump to her death, or be slowly burnt alive. Frustrated and out of ideas, she hid in the closet amongst several hanging linens. Higher and higher the flames shot into the sky. Unable to control the blaze, the fire rapidly spread upward to the floors above. Smoke was thick, and air was becoming scarce. In such dangerous conditions it would be foolish for anyone to even attempt a rescue attempt from within. High winds in combonation with the dry arid air of the city made perfect conditions for the blaze to easily spread. ::Cough Cough:: As the thick smoke began to fill the room where she had hidden herself, visibility quickly bagan to fade. Even if by some miracle there would be someone to be brave enough to enter the building, it would be unlikely that she would ever be found. Keeping herself hidden was the worst thing that she could have possibly done. ::Crash:: The thick glass windows on the lower floors were beginning to burst from the extreme heat, and the thick metal frame of the building began to become brittle. ::Crash:: "Yaaaaaah!" she yelled as the sounds of shattering glass echoed loudly through the building. This would soon be followed by a low bellowing creeking sound originating from somewhere beneathe her. The building sounded like it could be steadily falling apart from it's base. Terrified and helpless, she cower beneath the hanging clothing with her head between her knees. |

The group of insignificant men charged as if they had just seen their brother being killed. Android 17 got in a defensive stance as the men closed in on his position. All three swung the bats at 17, but he jumped into the air causing the men to collide into one another. The two biggest men remained standing while the smallest big man fell to the ground. He slammed the bat against the ground and stood back up. The three men looked around assuming that their opponent would be some place nearby but were struck with confusion when he was nowhere to be found. He floated in the air for only a few more minutes while the mean continued to search the area for Android 17. After they finally quit looking, they walked over towards their unconscious leader and picked him up. While Android 17 watched, blue balls of light formed in the palms of both hands. The men strutted away as if they had accomplished some victory, but Android 17 knew better than that. After gathering enough energy, he flung his hands forward as two balls of ki descended upon their victims. He whistled at the group of men right before they were destroyed. Only one of the members turned around in time to be blinded by the light from the balls of ki. Android 17 watched all the men take their lasts breaths as they were decimated by the destructive force of both ki blasts. It was an image that pleased Android 17 greatly; however, he had only planned on fighting one opponent that day. One of Dr. Gero’s other creations was roaming around the city, but he could not use his scouter to find it. One thing was for sure, Android 17 did not need a scouter in order to understand that its power was growing just as fast if not faster than his own. He landed back on the ground shortly after destroying the group of men and continued his search for one of his most hated enemies. |

The fire roared out of control. All hope seemed to be lost for this unlucky tenant. It was at that moment when all seemed to be lost, faint sounds of footsteps could be heard out in the hallway. "It's just my imagination" she thought to herself as she stay hidden in the wardrobe. "Then again" she said with a look of panic struck across her face "If it is someone trying to rescue me, they will never find me in here. The footsteps continued to get louder, and seem to get closer. "In there!" a man's voice yelled from the hallway. "Check in there!" Salvation nearly seemed within reach. Cracking the heavy wooden door, the young girl cautiously peered out into the room. Smoke still clouded much of her vision, but she could certainly hear the loud pounding sound of the apartment door being knocked down. "Help!" she cried out. "I'm in here!" The door finally gave way to the relentless bashing of the heavy metal ram, and swung open. The rescue attempt appeared to be a success as the fire fighters began to enter the room hastely. With the increasing heat and smoke pouring out of the room, finding this little girl would be hard enough. Retreiving any survivors from the building became number one priority. It was as the firemen came rushing into the room when the look of relief quickly left her face. Not letting the air pressure in the room stabalize with that in the hallway had yeilded fatal results. Moments after the first brave soul raced into the room, a large fireball crashed out of the main doorway, and burst out into the hallway. Bodies were scattered everywhere from the blast, and few still remain concious. Hopes of this young girl escaping were dwindleing. Struggleing to get to his feet, one fireman began to stir. From out in the hallway he called out. "Is anyone alive in there?!" Fearing the worst, he called out again. "I said is anyone alive in there?!" Gathering what energy he still had left, the fireman slowly hobbled into the room. "Hello?!" he yelled. "It was now or never." she thought to herself as she saw the man enter the room. Wasteing no time she would push the wardrobe door open quickly, and wave her arms in the air. "I'm here!" she yelled a loud. "I'm here!" Quickly helping the girl up, the man wrapped her tightly in a moist fire resistant blanket. "Now come on." he said, directing her to follow him. |

His soul purpose of starting the fire was to flush the people out of their homes. North City was filled with many great fighters, and these people would be easy meals for his opponent. Now with all of the people out in the streets, they would be easier targets for the biological android. He continued his search throughout the city until he came upon a vacant block. The silence was deafening and only the wind and crackling fires could be heard. Android 17 suddenly panicked as he realized why the block was completely abandoned. “This can’t be,” he whispered to himself. “He couldn’t possibly be moving this quickly.” He examined the ground as he made his way through the city block. The ground was covered with many different types of clothing. Unfortunately, he had seen this before in the last city his opponent had visiting. There were no bodies and no blood, and he knew it was feeding much quicker than he ever imagined it could. “Damn it,” he thought. “I have to get these people out of the city before he gets the opportunity to absorb everyone I’ve trapped here.” The pavement underneath him cracked as he soared off of the ground and into the air. He planned on heading back towards the center of the city where the most people had gathered in order to get away from the flames that trapped them inside the city. He knew that if he didn’t help these people escape that they would all be meals for the creature. Although he hated the fact of helping the human race, he hated the thought of helping his opponent even worse. He glanced down and noticed that the flames were moving further and further towards the center of the city where everyone was stationed. “I’d rather the fire kill them before he does,” he stated as he neared the city’s center. “I just hope it’s not too late.” |

"You're going to be ok now" the fireman said to the young girl as he lifted her from the ground, and began to carry her. Flames and smoke engulfed the hallway, and it appeared as if the stairway in which he and his team had first made their climb to had now been blocked by some burning debrit. Most likely it had all landed there as a result of the backdraft that had claimed so many of his friends and fellow fire fighters. They would have to find another way out. Thinking quickly, the man would turn toward the opposite stairway, and run there as fast as he could. "We have to climb!" he yelled. Touching the long metal handle of the stairway with the back of his hand, the man would test to see if there was fire beyond the door. "We're clear" he said as he went to push the door open. "Damn. The door won't open." Unwilling to give up he placed the girl down on her feet, and began to throw his body against the steel. "Open! Open! Come on!" he repeatedly yelled as he persisted to try to get through the door; still nothing. "Come on...." he said, falling to his knees. Frustrated, he would continueously try to devise some sort of plan for escape. "Excuse me?" the young girl said as she looked at the door. Pulling the large metal handle backward, she openned the door effortlessly. With an innocent smile she reach out her small hand toward her savior. Feeling a sence of renewed strength, the brave fireman rose to his feet, and the two took off up the stairwell. The two climbed as high and as fast as they could, until finally coming to what was believed to be the roof entrance. "There" the man said. "If we can get to the roof, then maybe we can get out of here. There should still be a helicopter in the area searching for people." A large smile beamed from the faces of the two, as they both beleived that their salvation would soon be at hand. ::Click Click:: The handle of the doorway seemed to be locked from the other side, and they would now have to force their way through. The temperature continued to rise, and the bright crimson glow from the flames could easily be seen creeping it's way through the lower floor below. Wrapping around the stairway it would seem as though they would not be safe in their current location for long. Looking down the spiraling stairway, the young girl would be nearly mesmorized by the approaching fire. "There!" the man yelled as he burst through to the other side. "I think we're going to be ok." he said as he smiled back at the girl. For the first time since this nightmare began, the two finally felt at ease. Sounds of carefree laughter began to emminate through the stairway as the two began to head outside to the roof. |

Android 17 felt a wave of relief when he arrived in the center of the city. The groups of people were still there, and they all still had no idea how to escape what seemed like a sure death. Almost half of civilians that lived in the city were gathered in the large circle that surrounded city hall. He knew that he must find some way to get everyone out of the city before they were absorbed by the creature they should fear more than the fire. “Listen up,” Android 17 shouted. “You people need to get out of the city as quickly as you can.” “How do you expect we do that,” a young boy question. “All the firefighters are gone, and there is no place to go. Every city street has been destroyed or is covered in flames.” Android 17 realized that the boy was right. The city was engulfed in flames, and firefighters were scarce. He knew the people would not move unless they were guaranteed safe passage out of the city, and he began looking for ways to possibly exterminate the fire long enough for the people to escape. His mind raced as he thought of several scenarios but nothing seemed to actually work. A smirk crossed Android 17’s face as he glanced up at a large container high in the air. It stored the cities enormous amount of water supply. “Perfect,” he said out loud. “Prepare yourselves.” Android 17 floated into the air as he charged a large ball of ki in his right hand. A few seconds passed and he hurled the ball towards the side of the container. A hole formed on the side of the container as the blast smashed into its side. Large amounts of water flowed down towards the ground and onto the street. The fires in some parts of the city decreased in size and areas of the city were now safe to travel on. Cheer spread throughout the large garrison of people as they thanked Android 17 for his hospitality. “Hurry, go now,” he demanded. The people flocked down the flooded streets and out of the city to safety. Android 17 took a deep breath as he realized his enemy did not capitalize on his mistake. Everything appeared to be over…. |

The fireman looked on at the young girl as she began to walk toward him, and away from the railing. The dim glow of fire emminated brilliantly behind him as he stood there in the doorway. "I think we're going to make it" he said as he smiled. ::Guuh:: A look of terror spread across the face of the girl as it was spattered with blood. Before her was a long needle like object protruding out from the chest of the fireman. Terrified by what she was witnessing, she began to step back. Back and back she went, stepping closer to the railing of the high spiral stairwell. Flames now scortched many of the floors below, and had crept up toward the sky. The extreme heat had made the railings super hot. The woman would not be expecting this as she backed up to them, singeing her back. The fireman had all but disappeared now, leaving only an empty sut covered fire suite. The needle like object was now fully visible, and now appeared to be very large as if it were a large snake. ::Click Click Click:: The sounds of a metallic clicking could be heard getting louder as if coming closer. Through the flames of hell did creep this mechanized monster. Revealing the entire shape of this creature, the girl screamed in terror. Waving it's tail in the air behind him, Cell approached closer. Licking his gigantic lips he would begin to laugh calmly. The girl could go no further. She was now faced with the horrifying decision to either jump to her death, or be eaten by this genetic monstrocity. "Oh no" she thought to herself as she quiver in fear. "I was so close..." Just then a loud crash would be heard in the background, and the android's head quickly perked up. "Oh yes" the monster said a loud. "There you are 17." Turning his back to the girl he began to walk away. Step after step he would take until he was in the doorway. Turning his head slightly to the terrified girl he would beam a sinister smile. "You didn't think you were getting away.....did you..." And with that Cell whipped his tail backward, and deep into the stomach of her. Dragging her along with him, he took to the air toward the location of the energy surge. "How foolish 17" Cell said as he flew toward the center of the city. The drive of being complete only enraged him. Over the deserted streets and through the burning buildings he did fly. Thousands of tourtured souls within his being cried out in agony as he called upon their power. It was as if a choir of demons were marching on to battle. In place of an energy aura, thousands of nameless ghostly faces whirl in their place. With each person he absorbed his power only increase further. There would be no salvation of man this day. Coming up upon a large mass of civilians, Cell began to make his descent. |

Android 17 was relieved that the people made it out alive and did not become the biological android’s meal. He sighed as he floated into the air. “What a day,” he mumbled. “Things could have been a lot worse.” He finished his sentence right as a large green monster flew several hundred feet above him in the sky. The creature was headed towards the large group of people that had just escaped the city. Android 17 cursed in anger as he soared into the sky as fast as possible. He knew he had to stop his opponent from feeding, and he also knew that the fight the two had been waiting for was finally at hand. He watched as the creature made it’s decent towards the crowd of people, but he was not far behind. It landed in front of the large crowd as its eyes surveyed its large meal. “Not today, Cell,” Android 17 shouted as he landed in front of the monster. Android 17 glanced at his opponent who was much larger than he had imagined. His green body reminded him of a lizard, and he could sense the tremendous evil in his opponent. The day had finally come when the two enemies would clash, and Android 17 couldn’t be any happier. His mind raced with the possibilities of what soon happen, but he realized that the people should not be near when the fight took place. “Everyone, I suggest you get as far away from here as possible,” he announced. He couldn’t have Cell absorbing any more people because he was already strong enough. Android 17 misjudged how fast Cell would feed his craving for power, and he would not make the same mistake twice. He looked into his opponents dark, soulless eyes and smiled. He clinched his fists together and prepared for the inevitable fight between two of Dr. Gero’s most prized creations…. (to be continued as a spar or battle between Android 17 and Cell) |
