Almost 650 years after the “Universal War,” there were only two remaining planets that where home to any life throughout the universe. Planets Earth and Vegeta were the two remaining planets that were still populated with life. Unlike these two planets, every other was consumed and overran by machines called Teramech’s. The Teramech’s were designed by the Avalonian’s who set out on a quest for universal domination.

(Sometime before the creation of the Teramech’s)

“Commander, the saiyans are out of our atmosphere, and it appears all they wanted was the technology we use,” the general announced.

“What is the body count,” Commander Mathis questioned.

“Approximately 786 men, women, and children,” the general said with regret.

“General, it appears that our technology can no longer give us the power we need to defend against monsters like the saiyans,” Mathis exclaimed. “My actions just got over 750 of our people killed, and I do not plan on letting such an occurrence happen again. I know I declined your request to begin research on the Project Extinction three weeks ago; however, I am now giving you my full cooperation. Use whatever resources you need to complete the project as quickly as possible.”

The general nodded his head and exited the room. He quickly made his way down towards the underground facility and entered a hidden door in the side of the building. There were six scientists cowered in the corner. He approached the scientists with a smirk on his face.

“Get up you imbeciles,” the general shouted angrily. “You should know that the saiyans could not have entered this place. Why would we allow our most important technology to be compromised? Now get up and continue working on Project Extinction. The commander has given us full access to his resources, so there is no need to sneak around behind his back any longer….Now get to work!”

(Present Day)

Android 17 sat down in his chambers and picked up a picture leaned up against the wall on his desk. The picture of his sister brought back some of his happiest memories. He smiled as he remembered her running and jumping on his bed every morning when they were children.

“Wake up sleepy head,” she would scream as she leaped onto his mattress. “It’s time to get up.”

These memories were the only thing that kept Android 17 going all these years. He set the picture down and opened a booklet where he wrote down his thoughts whenever he got an opportunity. He picked up a metallic pen and began writing.

It has been nearly three years since the death of Katsumi, but it still feels like it was yesterday. Neither one of us really cared about participating in this war, so we were content on keeping to ourselves as we watched the war continue. Six hundred years ago, the Earth’s strongest warriors had no problem keeping the Teramech’s at bay, but as the years passed...the warriors died. Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, Gohan, and there descendants all grew old and perished until there was only one left. After the group of warriors died, the Teramech’s had almost no problem terrorizing Earth. Still…18 and I did not join the fight to save the pathetic human race. We kept to ourselves and together we fended off what Teramech’s we ran into too over the duration of four hundred years. Everything was perfect until one day you had to leave my side and venture out into enemy territory…

The door to Android 17’s chambers swung open and a beautiful girl entered his room. She walked up behind 17 and put her hand on his shoulder.

“You ok,” she questioned with a concerned look on her face.

Android 17 slammed the book shut and stood up from his chair, “Everything is fine.”

“I just thought I would let you know that the Teramech’s are mobilizing,” she muttered. “There are ten or so heading this way as we speak and I thought I should let you know. Now get some rest…you need it.”

He kicked his chair aside and followed Sophia out into the hall. He jogged to catch up to her and grabbed a hold of her arm.

“Where are you going,” Android 17 questioned. “Look, I’m sorry I acted like that. I didn’t mean to shut you out, but I can’t help but get angry when I think about what they did to 18.”

“That was forever ago 17,” she stated. “She’s gone. Let it go.”

“Let it go,” Android 17 shouted furiously. “She was my sister! How can I possibly let it go?”

“Can’t you see 17,” the girl exclaimed calmly. “We are your family now. The humans and I are the only thing you have left.”

“The humans are worthless,” he screamed. “Besides, if it wasn’t for me…their fucking race would be extinct right now.”

“You fight for revenge 17,” she yelled back. “They fight to protect one another. They fight to protect you.”

Android 17 let go of her arm and forced his way passed her. He knew she was right, but he also knew the only reason that he joined the fight was because the Teramech’s destroyed his sister. Sophia was the only person 17 could talk to, and all the humans were too scared to try. He could still remember the way his sister screamed for help as the Teramech’s ripped her apart. She had ventured into enemy territory while he was recharging one night.

They had been playing a game for several weeks that involved who could kill the most Teramech’s. Android 17 was up 123 to 117, so she decided to cross into their territory in hopes of catching up to him. Unfortunately, she ran into a large number of them and was easily taken down. Her screams woke him, and he knew exactly what had happened as he made his way towards her fading signal. When he arrived, the Teramech’s were gone and all he found were pieces of her scattered around the area…..

(During the creation of the Teramechs)

“Commander, Project Extinction is running at full capacity,” the general stated as he approached Commander Mathis’s throne. “The machines should be ready for testing tomorrow at the latest.”

“Good job general,” Mathis replied. “The diagnosis of the machines looks promising. Their metal frame is almost indestructible and their artificial intelligence is phenomenal; however, I am worried about our ability to regulate these machines. Have the scientists discovered a way to control the Teramech’s?”

“Yes sir, the Teramech’s have been implanted with a chip that will not allow them to physically harm us in any way,” the general stated proudly. “When do you plan on deploying the Teramech’s to planet Vegeta?”

“They wont be deployed anywhere,” Mathis exclaimed. “The last thing we need is war with the saiyans. General, they are much stronger than you could imagine.”

The general graciously obliged the commander’s request. Mathis smiled at the general as he was brought a bottle of the race’s finest elixir.

“A toast,” Mathis cheered happily. “Here is to our success.”

The general raised his arm and pretended to drink the elixir given to him by the scientist. Shortly after consuming the drink, Commander Mathis could no longer breathe. His lungs filled up with fluid as he fell to his knees. He reached out towards General Reigns but, the general simply smiled at his dying commander. Mathis took his last breath as his soul departed from his body.

“I always knew you would never have the guts to use our creations for the right cause,” General Reigns whispered into the dead commander’s ear.

General Reigns stood up and glared at the scientist, “Why are you still standing there. Go tell the others that Mathis was killed by a saiyan assassin and to have the Teramech’s ready for battle by tomorrow morning. Finally we will be able to take what we deserve!”

Android 17 tried to force the images of his dead sister’s body out of his mind as he prepared to defend his garrison against another wave of Teramech’s. Luckily, when the war erupted hundreds of years ago, the brightest minds of the human race created a weapon that disabled the Teramech’s source of energy. Android 17 refused to use a weapon created by such a pathetic race; instead, he trained nearly every second he had a chance in order to obtain superior strength over the Teramech’s. At first the task proved extremely easy, but every year that passed….the machines got stronger and smarter. No one in his garrison was exactly sure how the war began except Android 17. He remembered the story of what happened perfectly.

(Teramech Mission 1: Destroy inhabitants of Planet Vegeta)

“Commander Reigns, the Teramech’s are entering Vegeta’s atmosphere,” General Cronos stated. “What are their orders?”

“Destory everything,” Commander Reigns replied. “I don’t want a single saiyan left alive.”

“Sir,” General Cronos said with a confused look on his face.

“Do it,” Reigns screamed furiously.

General Cronos unclipped a large object from his utility belt and spoke into it, “Destroy all saiyans.”

He clipped the object back onto his belt and looked up at a screen displaying planet Vegeta’s surface. The ship that deployed the Teramech’s was implanted with a camera that could display live video feed from almost any place in the universe. The two Avalonian’s watched as the unit of one hundred Teramech’s entered the saiyan capital; however, the saiyans were fully aware of the situation at hand. Commander Reigns watched as his groups of Teramech’s were easily destroyed by a group of only twenty saiyans.

“Impossible,” Reigns screamed.

“I’m sure the saiyans will respond with a counter attack soon,” general Cronos stated with a worried look on his face. “What shall we do next?”

“Have our remaining Teramech’s start constructing as many new Teramech’s as possible,” Reigns replied. “We are going to need thousands of machines if we plan on surviving their attacks.”

Little did Reigns know that the previously built Teramech’s would begin constructing new Teramech’s that did not have the same chip that inhibited the others from harming the Avalonian race. The machines were so technologically advanced that their artificial intelligence had no boundaries. After they heard of their comrade’s destruction on planet Vegeta, they realized that they must worry about their own survival…

(Present Day)

Android 17 and his troops prepared for the Teramech’s arrival at the outpost. Although he did not get a chance to recharge himself after his last battle, he knew that if he was not present during this fight, his outpost would most likely be overrun.

“Prepare yourselves,” Android 17 shouted to his troops. “No one dies today!”

Android 17 could not help but laugh at the current situation because he knew that 600 years ago, he would have loved to watch the humans get slaughtered; however, he also knew that he would need their help in order to kill as many of the machines as possible. The day his sister died was the day 17 approached the commander of the outpost he now ran. After a demonstration of Android 17’s power, the commander made him second in command. Like many other humans, the commander was killed in battle, and Android 17 became the new leader of the outpost.

"Here they come,” a man yelled from behind Android 17.

“Hold your positions,” Android 17 screamed.

He floated into the air and focused his energy as he counted the number of Teramech’s approaching. There were more than expected, but he cared none the less. The men below readied their weapons and prepared to fire. Below him, Sophia came running out of the bunker and flew towards 17’s position.

“You didn’t think I would let you do this alone did you,” she chuckled. “I’m sorry about what happened earlier. Let’s just forget about it.”

Android 17 smiled as the Teramech’s inched closer and closer to their position…

“You’re unbelievable you know that,” Android 17 stated. “Go back inside before you get hurt.”

“Watch yourself 17,” she said with a grin on her face. “Maybe you should be the one that needs to go back inside.”

A slight smile crossed 17’s face as the Teramech’s finally reached their position. The troops below fired their weapons as the Teramech’s began their assault. Android 17 and Sophia fired multiple ki blasts towards the herd of machines as one by one they fell to the ground. Eventually the machines broke through the barrage of blasts and tackled Sophia to the ground. She screamed as her body hit the ground, but she quickly grabbed the machines head and ripped it off of its body. She pushed the destroyed Teramech off her body and flew back into the air towards 17.

“That was a close one,” Sophia exclaimed.

“Quit playing around Sophia,” Android 17 replied. “I don’t want you to get hurt.”

Android 17 darted away from Sophia when he noticed that one of the Teramech’s was on top of one of his troops. He soared towards the ground and kicked the machine off of Pvt. McDaniels. The weary warrior thanked 17 and fired his weapon at the remaining machines. Minutes later, his troops headed back towards the bunker as he and Sophia made sure that all the Teramech’s were destroyed.

“Why did they send such a small group of scouts,” Sophia questioned as she fired a ki blast into a moving Teramech.

“I don’t know,” Android 17 stated with a concerned look on his face. “Something is not right. These things are smart, so I think I’m going to head over to their base camp and find out what is going on.”

“I’ll do the same,” Sophia exclaimed. “You can’t have all the fun 17.”

“Damnit Sophia, when are you going to learn this is not about having fun anymore,” Android 17 replied. “I swear you saiyans are unbelievable….”

(The Destruction of Planet Avalon)

“Sir there is nothing we can do,” General Cronos screamed as the barricade began to fail. “The machines are mass producing themselves, and they are no longer under our control.”

Commander Reigns sat motionless on the ground as the Teramech’s pounded on the barricade. Every remaining Avalonian pulled out there weapons and prepared for their last stand against the uncontrollable machines. Over a hundred thousand machines littered the large planet of Avalon, their power and numbers made them an unbeatable foe.

“What have I done,” Reigns said to himself as the barricade finally gave way.

And then it was over. The weapons currently used at the time proved useless against the machines, and the Avalonian race ceased to exist after the attack. Although the Teramech’s had minds of their own, they were created to destroy. That programming was embedded into every Teramech built. After they defeated the Avalonian race, they began their search for life on other planets. In addition, each Teramech was installed with a thermal oxidizer which gave them the ability to survive in space. The group of machines took to the sky as they locked on to the coordinates of Planet Vegeta. Their new mission was to finish their original objective….kill all saiyans.

(Present Day)

Android 17 followed Sophia into the training center after discussing any new changes in the Teramech’s movements. The ranking officer informed 17 that the machines were holding their position. Sophia stripped down to her bra and panties as she pressed a tiny button on a familiar machine. The rejuvenation tank opened, and she positioned herself inside.

“We leave in 12 hours,” Android 17 muttered. “I expect you will be ready by then?”

She placed the breathing tube in her mouth and gave Android 17 a thumbs up. He smiled and turned around. He could hear the rejuvenation tank close as he headed back towards his living quarters. Once he arrived, he sat down on the floor and began his weekly process of recharging himself. His eyes shut and he drifted into darkness.

Meanwhile, the Teramech’s continued their work on a new machine they called The Juggernaut. This machine was nearly twenty feet tall and weighed close to 30,000 pounds. The race of machines realized that their numbers were dwindling at an increased pace. The human race along with Android 17 and Sophia were a cause for concern. This new machine would have more than fifty times the power and strength than all the other machines. One had already been built on Planet Vegeta; however, a large fleet of saiyans destroyed the machine before it was activated. On Earth, the Teramech’s finalized the construction and prepped the Juggernaut for activation.

Twelve hours later, Android 17 awoke from his slumber and slowly stood up. After being fully recharged, 17 felt absolutely incredible. Sophia rushed into Android 17’s room shortly after he stood up.

“We have to go now,” Sophia stuttered. “There has been word from the saiyans on Planet Vegeta. They said the machines are building some sort of super machine. Apparently all the Teramech’s on Vegeta are now making their way to Earth.”

Android 17 rushed passed Sophia and into the control center. He starred at the radar and his eyes opened wide. Thousands of Teramech’s were approaching Earth’s atmosphere at an incredible speed.

“What should we do sir,” one of the commanders questioned. “Do we need to mobilize all troops?”

Android 17 sat down and began thinking of the possible ways out of the predicament. After all, he was surprised that the people of Earth lasted as long as they had. The saiyans on Vegeta were created to excel in everything they do. Unlike the humans on Earth, the saiyans could easily dispose of almost any threat….no matter what the odds.

“There is nothing we can do,” Android 17 regretfully replied. In less than an hour, this planet will be swarming with every last Teramech in the universe.”

Android 17 didn’t budge for nearly thirty minutes. He sat motionless in his chair as he racked his brain for any possibilities he didn’t think of earlier. He opened his eyes and stared into the faces of his discouraged comrades.

“Tell every outpost to prepare for our evacuation of Earth,” Android 17 stated. “We need to get everyone off of this planet before the Teramech’s begin their assault. After we reach a safe position, have the king of Planet Vegeta destroy Earth with their Deathro Beam.”

“That won’t work 17,” Sophia replied. “The Teramech’s will just follow us into space if we leave.”

“Just do it,” Android 17 screamed furiously. “It will work.”

The commander radioed Planet Vegeta and notified them of the plan. All over Earth, humans prepared themselves for the evacuation of Earth. Android 17, Sophia, and the humans at the outpost filed into numerous ships surrounding the area. They all watched as the huge fleet of Teramech’s landed somewhere near their base camp on Earth. Now activated, the Juggernaut quickly made its way towards Android 17’s outpost. Thousands of machines followed his lead as the ground shook beneath him.

“Hurry, they’re coming,” Android 17 shouted as the last of the troops entered the spaceship.

“They’re going to follow us…you know that right,” Sophia questioned. “We have a better chance if we just stay here and fight.”

“Trust me, they won’t follow us,” Android 17 replied. “Now get inside.”

She walked up the ramp and muttered a few words as she walked. Her heart was racing and she could only hope 17 was right. She heard the door hiss as it shut behind her.

“You know what 17, you are probably right,” she agreed happily. “You’re always right. So what do you think Planet Vegeta is like? 17….”

Sophia turned around as the ship lifted off the ground; however, she noticed Android 17 was not standing behind her. Panicking, she rushed towards the door where she had entered. Her hands began to shake as she tried to open the door to the hull, but it would not budge since the ship was in the air. She rushed to a nearby window and looked down towards Earth. There she saw Android 17 waving goodbye towards her location. She bolted to the control room and informed the commander of the situation.

“We have to go back,” she screamed. “17 is still down there.”

“We can’t go back Sophia,” the commander replied. “The Teramech’s have swarmed our previous location. Besides, 17 is down there for a reason. He is going to distract them so we can escape. He told me to leave him behind, so I’m doing exactly what my commanding officer wanted me too.”

“I don’t care,” she cried as she fell to her knees. “We have to go back.”

Tears rolled down her face as she began to weep. Although she understood the commander was right, she couldn’t help but cry.

“I never thought I would say this, but he sacrificed himself so that we may live,” the commander announced.

Sophia stood up as tears continued to roll down her face and made her way towards the same window she was at earlier. She looked down upon the shrinking Earth as a disheartened look crossed her face.

“Thank you,” she whispered.

Android 17 watched the fleet of ships all over Earth ascend into the air. The swarm of machines encircled Android 17’s positions as the Juggernaut made its way towards Android 17. The machine stopped short of his opponent’s position and remained motionless. All of the other machines did the same thing as their newfound leader.

“It’s time to finish this,” Android 17 yelled aloud. “Tell your little friends stay out of this fight. I’m pretty sure you know exactly who I am…don’t you? I’m the one that has been destroying your pathetic race.”

The machine silently sent frequencies to his followers advising them to stay out of the fight. Android 17 watched as the Teramech’s powered down and settled in their current positions. The Juggernaut raised its mechanical arm and brought down upon Android 17’s head. 17 barely dodged the Juggernaut’s attack and fired a barrage of ki blasts towards the machine’s chest. The blasts did little to no damage as each connected with the machine’s metal structure. Once again, the machine swung its arm down upon Android 17 except this time the blow connected.

His body was sent tumbling towards the Earth as he crashed into the ground. Dust and debris erupted around him as his body connected with the Earth. The power of the machine was incredible. One blow from the Juggernaut greatly wounded Android 17’s structure. Not giving up, he pushed himself off of the ground and back into the air. He laughed at the machine as he cupped both hands behind his back. Android 17 watched as a bright light in the sky flashed several thousand miles away. Planet Vegeta had received news that all vessels were clear, so they proceeded to fire their cannon. Back on Earth Android 17 remained in the air with his hands cupped behind his back. He felt enormous amounts of energy rush from his body and into his hands as the flash of a blue light appeared.

“Kaaa…meee….haaaa….meeee…HAAA,” Android 17 screamed loudly as he brought his cupped hands forward and out towards The Juggernaut.

A powerful beam of light exploded out of his hands and towards his enemy. The shear power of the blast ripped through the machines chest plate and through its wiring. With its power core destroyed, the Juggernaut fell to the ground as did Android 17. Barely capable of opening his eyes, Android 17 watched the ray of light from above grow larger and larger.

“Damn, why do I have to do everything myself,” Android 17 said smiling.

The beam consumed Earth as it incinerated all life on the planet. The Teramech’s were destroyed as was Android 17. The heat of the blast melted anything and everything it came into contact with. Before dying, Android 17’s tortured soul was finally at peace. Thoughts of his long lived life, his sister, and Sophia were all that remained as the light he saw quickly turned to darkness…..
