I'm planning on adding a patch to the site this weekend. It will be a pretty major patch needless to say. Hopefull, you all like the changes I have planned.

It's about time that I overhaul the techniques for the RPG to make them more DBZ-like. It's boring when you are facing opponents who all know the same moves so here is how I am going to fix that.

I am going to split the moves into three categories: Fundamental, Advanced, and Finisher. There will be so many slots that you can fill for each category with moves. This means you can't learn every move. I'll explain the three types.

Fundamental moves are the most basic ones. Bukujutsu, Beam Ball, Energy Blast, etc. You'll probably have a lot of these slots since they are common moves. Around 10 or so. You will also have no limit on the number of times you can perform fundamental moves (if you have enough ki to do them that is).

Advanced moves are the ones your character should be known for. Kamehameha, Bakuhatsuha, Destructo Disk, Kaio-ken attack. Moves like these will be advanced moves. I haven't settled on a number but I think each character will have 4 advanced slots. 4 seems like its enough so that you can have a good variety of moves to perform, but yet few enough so people should not have the same moves. You will also be limited to the number of times you can perform advanced moves but it will not be so debilitating that you will be handcuffed to never use them, just enough so that it will be a moment to be remembered in battle when they are used.

Finishing moves will be your character signature move. You can learn only 1 finisher move and you can use it in battle only once (should it be at the end or the beginning that is up to you). Some moves that are not finishers now will be re-categorized as finishers. For example, body bind will probably be a finisher.

One positive that will come along with this patch is that most of the moves (90%) will be able to be learned right away. This is because you will probably have some moves you want to put into your slots in mind and it would be stupid to have to have you wait to attain them. There will be restrictions on what you can learn first, though. You will need so many fundamental moves known before you can go onto advanced and so many advanced before you can take a finisher. I think overall this will make battles more exciting and characters more DBZish.


Some other plans with this update:

  • Alliances will be re-done
  • More quests added
  • More rare items added that will be available for discovery immediately.
In a future patch I plan to add:

  • Changes to the battle system such as a speed chart
  • Planet conquering still in the works
  • A good/evil stat?

With the moves will already know count toward and be sorted into the new system or be erased from our characters?

You will have the choice to keep them and put them into what slots or to refund your SPs. You could keep some and not others.

I like the idea. Definately gonna add diversity to the moves people keep and don't keep. This will go hand in hand with the type of character you make such as a tank or a type of ranger perhaps, maybe a speed demon with stats as you can do now, combined together with the set up of moves.

Sounds great...I would also rework some of the rp credit bonuses as I dont think anyone would spend 10 rp credits for 1 Dp when they can use 20 to level up and get stats, 5dp and 3sp.

I'd also like to see an NPC page with character stats and moves and stuff that you can interact with all the time instead of random made up characters, like back in the old days.

And if you include an Evil Good Stat maybe a neutral stat as well.

Sounds great though, I cant wait to see the new move system in work.

This new system sounds great and will definitely prevent some of the newer players, myself included, feeling overwhelmed with the amount of catching up we need to do.

As do I, it would also be nice for some character specific moves in addition to any racial exclusive moves we may have. Of course, I'd be more than willing to devote my time to seeking out said moves if I'm needed.

The main reason for me mentioning this is due to the rather awesome green Ki attacks Broli/Brolly usually uses in the first movie.

I think special character finishers would be nice like dabura has a stone spit (only fatal if its a battle to the death imo) Combiners would also be nice which you should only have 2 slots of less powerfull then finishers and limited to 1 or 2 attacks a match. you also need the moves (lets say ki blast and ki wave for ki bomb or something)
