Dabura found himself outside the Guru’s house yet again. He had been become quite accustomed to be summoned for training, learning new techniques or other trivial tasks that concerned the safety of the planet. But for some reason, today he felt particularly unsettled about the safety of his life today. So it was with great trepidation that he finally decided to enter his current master’s house after a few minutes of hesitating to enter the building.

Once again, he found himself in front of the aged elder. “It is good that you have come Dabura. Your last test has proven you can handle yourself in single combat against a single foe, but what about if the enemy outnumbers you?” asked the elder.

Dabura snorted slightly. “If you’re giving me a task against a group, you can forget it. I’ve fought against millions of enemies at one time. I’m sure the number you’re giving me isn’t THAT high…” The demon was about to continue when he heard chuckling rising from the elder.

“If you are referring to the incident where you sealed away the shadow realm, then you can forget about that. I took a closer look at your memories. Most of the people you fought were civilians. There weren’t any serious threats until near the end. Even so, you did an acceptable job. However, the task I am asking you to entail upon is to defeat an army.” Dabura was now intrigued.

“An army? Ok…I have two questions. First, how the hell have we not even seen an army anywhere, and why the hell would an army be here anyways?” Guru sighed.
“I would prefer not to hear the use of the word ‘hell’ while in my presence. Since I carry a connection to my brethren, it saddens me to know that these…brothers of mine are going to that place that you call ‘hell’. Well. I’ll get straight to it. A large number of Namekians feel that I am getting too….complacent in my age to handle the job of being the high elder. So they plan to have me disposed of in order to place a more…youthful leader in my position.” This drew an angered reaction from Dabura.

“How dare those traitors! You’re a good elder who has always cared about the people!” Guru sighed.

“I thank you for your words of belief, but they do have a point. In my old age, I am unable to protect my village, only becoming trifled with the decisions that make me what you would know on Earth as a…’politician’. Despite my growing sentiment to their decision, they have been harming other Namekians, forcefully attempting to sway the people to their cause. I need you to stop this army immediately.”

Dabura merely nodded before turning around and phased out of the room in a blur of speed.

The demon powered up as he continued to fly faster towards the closest village from Guru’s house. He needed answers as to where he could find the army of traitorous…Dabura immediately stopped flying. The demon began thinking. If there was an enemy army planning to overthrow the elder, then how come no-one had ever heard of a large force amassing itself? Even if they were doing it secretly they would still need a lot of space for that many people to…

Dabura immediately fired a ki blast at the water in annoyance at not having come to his conclusion earlier and powered up more before flying to the village. He had to make sure that what he thought was going to happen wasn’t happening right now or he’d be too late.

Meanwhile, the populace of the nearby town were doing their business when a large white dot appeared in the sky. Recognising it as Dabura, the populace powered up slightly to prepare for the hurricane-force winds that usually occurred when the demon was in a hurry. Surprisingly, they didn’t come as the demon dropped down instead and landed in the middle of the street. They watched as the demon went up to one of their townsmen and asked for something before firing another ki blast into the sky in what they assumed to be anger and jumped up high into the sky before flying back the way he had come. The Namekians simply sighed. That one was confusing.

Dabura growled in anger as he continued flying forward. He had been correct in his assumption. It would be hard to tell who was a member of the army if it was spread out more in a resistance-style massing. It would mean any member could go on with their daily lives. It also meant, nearly anyone could be one of them. Which was why the demon had asked the town member if any people had left the village today. He got worried when he heard approximately 25 Nameks had left the town for some ‘important business’. Knowing that Nameks hardly ever left their town unless it was for a good reason, the demon had immediately begun charging back towards his master’s house.

He could only hope he wasn’t too late.

The word ‘wrong’ has many definitions. While it can be used colloquially as an adjective to describe an act of indecency or disgust, it’s dictionary definition is defined as that which is wrong or not in accordance with morality, goodness, or truth. So it was with great annoyance and fear for his master’s safety did Dabura admit that he really hated it when he was wrong.

He could count at least 1,000 Namekians outside Guru’s house, and guessed that there were probably 100 or more inside the building. Well, all Namekian buildings were much larger in comparison to the size of a human’s house. Sensing a few of the elder’s guards fighting a losing battle on the upper floor, Dabura flew over to hover behind the elder’s house before slowly punching his way through the wall, ripping out piece by piece. Of course, with the ki blasts, electrical surges, fists and screams of anger and agony filling the air, who would notice a red demon behind the house carving a hole into the wall?

It took a few minutes for Dabura to finally break through, resulting in him ending up behind the elder who he had flown back to rescue. Peeking over the enormous chair, the demon could see that there were only 2 of the 20 guards left, and they were clearly on their last legs. Deciding to make his presence known, the demon unsheathed both of his swords before zanzokening forward. In an instant, the 20 attackers of the upper floor dropped down dead, having their heads chopped off so they wouldn’t regenerate. Behind him, the elder sighed in sadness at having to see his fellow Namekians fight and die amongst each other. Swinging his blades with expert speed to blow the blood off, the demon threw both up before bending his back to the side to catch both before turning around with what the trio could only describe as being a mixture of resigned and pissed off.

“How many more are there?”

The two guards were confused by the demon’s statement as once again, he opened his mouth to speak. “Do I need to repeat myself? How many more are out there?” It was finally after a while did the duo finally catch on as to what the demon was implying.
“Surely you aren’t planning to fight them all ALONE, are you?” The demon raised an eyebrow then took a look at his watch. “No…I’m planning to surrender and hand over the elder so they can execute him,” said the demon watching the two Namekians’ looks of shock and rage before continuing.

“Of course I’m going to fight them alone!” This response was met with one face that looked like it was about to burst in laughter and another that was growing in horror. The one who’s face looked like Christmas had come early spoke first.
“You’re kidding right? There’s no way you’re ACTUALLY going to go out there and face all of them…” The first to speak was cut off by his companion.
“No. He’s serious, he’s actually going to go out there…” Both simply stared at the demon as though he were crazy.

“Why would you do something like that? Aren’t you aware that you’re going to die out there?” shouted both in exasperation. Dabura simply looked down for a moment, blissfully unaware of the blasts that signalled the Namekians were trying to force open the elevator, nor of the cheering outside. All he could focus on was that one moment of serenity where one sees clearly upon what they have to do.

“Some are born, knowing what they will be. Others fight to reach for what they wish to be. And yet, there are those who don’t know what they want to be at all. But in truth, all these choices will inevitably lead to loss of free will as once those goals are reached, the costs of maintaining that goal results in inhibitions. I do what I do because I choose to. Even though I risk my life, despite being free to simply not fight and train to fight another day when I know I can win, I choose not to. Because I am free to choose.”

With those final words, the demon descended down the elevator.

The Namekians were surprised when the elevator opened, so much in fact that they didn’t immediately blast the red demon whose power level was steadily climbing higher upon seeing the purple blood splattered all over the floor. “So, what are you doing opening the elevator for us?” asked one of the soldiers in the crowd. Dabura merely grabbed onto the hilt of one of his swords with his face still lowered.

“Fate has decreed you must be stopped. All of you will die here today.” With that, the demon unsheathed his sword in a glint of silver and flew down, slashing through the crowd of soldiers, his aura preventing the tainted purple blood from flowing onto him as he slipped through the crowd, his sword flashing in the dark as it continued to take life from the group of warriors.

Finally recovering enough to start fighting back, the Nameks started firing ki blasts at the demon. However, this proved to be even more ineffectual as they hit their comrades more than they even managed to hit the demon on the occasional blast. Dabura was like a angel of vengeance, his white aura blinding the Nameks as he continued cleaving through the group.

Eventually, some Nameks had realized that the elevator was still down and began to fly upwards towards the upper floor, only to be stopped by the demon ending their lives in a glint of steel. Drawing both, the demon began to unleash one of his new sword combos. “HEAVEN’S ARROWS OF JUDGEMENT!” roared the demon as he flashed into an extremely fast speed, zanzokening over the elevator repeatedly, killing the entire crowd as they continued to try to reach the upper floor. All the Nameks could see was a white line bounding in straight lines over the elevator and their comrades falling back lifeless.

Finally, after a minute of this combo, the demon had slain all the enemy and once again cleaning his blades, he sheathed them and fell to the ground on his knees, exhausted from his constant use of the zanzoken. Hearing the continued charging and cheering outside, the demon slowly stood up before seeing that his pants had managed to become drenched in blood when he had slipped onto the floor. Withdrawing his swords again, he placed both swords on the ground, until the blades were completely purple with the blood.

“Even in death, it will be with the blood that you gave that they shall fall.” The demon looked up at the sky for a moment, then glanced back down on the ground, then returned his gaze to the sky once more before slowly walking out towards the door.

The group of soldiers that had started charging at the front door in anger suddenly stopped when Dabura came out of the front door. What’s more, they also noticed that his blades were dripping purple blood and immediately came to the conclusion of what had happened. This demon had managed to defeat over 200 of their comrades in battle. Because of this, Dabura felt quite a malicious spike of killer intent aimed towards him. But because of his own internal hatred towards them, he remained quite unaffected.

“The price that all pay, you shall give today.” Dabura powered until he was at his absolute maximum. “DEATH!” cried the demon unleashing two sets of ki slashes with his blades that cut a bloody path into the enemy ranks before rushing forward and cleaving into the group, swinging all the blood massed onto one sword into their eyes before sheathing it and doing a series of signs with one hand, unleashed a fiery blast into the army, incinerating dozens.

Dabura thought of the irony of his choice of weaponry as he ducked under a kick, before rapidly spinning into the air, avoiding a ring of ki blasts before seeing hundreds more flying at him, choosing to zanzoken out of the way, despite his deteriorating reserves. With one hand, he would cut, with the other, he would destroy.

A balance between a needle and a bomb, both killing in different ways, neither really helping people. Pushing this thought to the back of his mind and deciding to unleash a kiai this time to stop the impending force of ki beams, he powered up as much as he could and rushed down at the large green force on the ground, before unleashing a series of wide-spread Sokidans, intent on ending this battle quickly before he ran out of ki.

Dabura watched and sighed as the Sokidans were stopped with countering ki blasts and flew back to the entrance of the elder’s house. This was harder when each opponent could use ki. Continuing to deflect the army’s ki blasts, he exhaustedly entered the building before hopping up to the second floor before dropping to his knees.

“I can’t finish them, I’ve probably only taken out a tenth of their forces. There’s just too many of them,” huffed Dabura still glancing at the purple blood on his sword. Just then, he felt two hands, one on his head and one on his back and felt his energy return to him, before going even higher.

“What, what are you doing?” asked Dabura as he felt his power continuing to grow.
“I was going to bestow this power upon you later, but times have decreed that you need it now. Put it to good use, and protect the people.” Dabura stood up, merely basking in his new power and felt with it, a sense of responsibility that came with it.

“I understand elder, that to protect the lives of many, a few must be sacrificed. I do this not only for revenge, but for justice and the defence of this planet and its people.”The demon drew a white cloth and cleaned the blood from his blade before throwing it as hard as it could into the sky.

“Perhaps your blood shall actually reach heaven. But if it doesn’t, I thank you for your sacrifice.” Dabura once again jumped down the hole with renewed vigour, ready to stop his enemies from threatening the welfare of the planet. He once again glanced at the murderous masses, this time, feeling a sense of calmness rather than anger. He could feel that these people didn’t understand the importance of peace and of not making war.

The sadness of this fact was that when it happened, the only thing that could end war, was war itself.

The Namekians realised what had happened as soon as the demon had come out refreshed and with a higher power level. “How dare the elder grant a non-Namekian the power! I demand that this cur be cut down at…” started a Namek before being run through by Dabura’s blade. Despite his calmness, the demon did admit he was surprised at how much more speed this power up gave him before speeding back to his original position.

“Alright, let’s get started. Only this time, I’m new and improved!” shouted the demon before firing a pair of Sokidans into the crowd. This time, the army was completely unprepared and around 50 Namekians were blown back in that display of pyrotechnics. The demon smirked even more before drawing both swords and zanzokening all the way to the leader’s vanguard.

The leader of the army wondered just how exactly the demon had made it all the way to him, before 100 Nameks had their heads dropped off, obviously beheaded by the move. Dabura stood up and sheathed one sword before pointing the other at the leader of the Namekians. “Today, you pay for disrupting peace,” said the demon before zanzokening again above the crowd, avoiding the dozen or so ki blasts they had aimed at his back, letting the vanguard deal with the misaimed blasts.

Dabura then realised the folly of zanzokening into the air as over 500 ki blasts and beams flew at him. “I need a plan, I need a plan, come on!” shouted Dabura his aura forming a round dome around him, blocking all of the ki beams that came at him.
“What the…?” said Dabura as he saw the red dome of energy flowing around him still.

“Alright, now I got a shield, and now…” said Dabura charging up a lot of energy in his sword. “I end this, KI SLASH!” shouted Dabura zanzokening back in front of the crowd before unleashing the slice. Considering the fact that the Nameks were dealt with having to try to block an energy blast with perhaps nearly half of Dabura’s energy behind it, one person at a time, the results were that nearly the whole army got decimated.

“Now…for you,” said the demon charging at the leader and his rearguard.

The leader of the army didn’t know it yet, but in the last few minutes, all of his plans had gone to hell. Perhaps it was the beginning of the sounds of screaming coming from his own men, or from a rapidly moving streak flying along, leaving swathes of death behind him, but he came to one startling conclusion.

He was screwed. And he knew it.

So we find ourselves watching as an angry red demon wielding a sword drenched in purple blood starts cutting through the remainder of around twenty Nameks, who despite their skill, find themselves unable to match the might of said demon, who merely counters their energy blasts with either a scream of energy of by unleashing a red barrier before countering with a vast array of attacks, including a flame technique, a large ki ball and an energy slash.

The battle was so brutal, yet beautiful at the same time. The parties engaged in their dance of death traded blows, energy blasts and in the case of the Namekians, surges of electrical energy. The demon dodged near to all of these blows, only taking a few before ending the Namekians’ lives with a swing of his sword.

Soon enough, the battle was over and we find the leader standing alone before the red demon, his sword still pointing at the Namekian’s chest. Despite his lowering reserves of energy, the demon refused to show weakness in front of the Namek as he powered up to what was left of his energy as he readied himself to end the Namek’s life. It was here that one being would pay for costing the lives of over 1,000 Nameks and coated the ground in purple blood.

It was finally time for the leader to pay for what he had done to the people of Namek.

As the demon grew closer with his menacing blade, the leader dropped to his knees. Dabura was almost disgusted by this sight. “Wait, you don’t have to kill me. I can grant you power, wishes, anything you want at all! Don’t you wish to have unlimited power?” The demon was sickened by this display of cowardice.

“You were so eager to kill the elder before, and now you choose to help me? You sicken me with your weak mind. It is people like you that prefer having never to fight that ruin this universe. For the sake of all those who gave their lives for YOUR cause, you shall pay the price.”

The demon rushed forward with his sword, only for the Namek to dodge the initial slash before firing a ki blast at Dabura’s exposed back. Unable to dodge in time, the demon let out a cry of pain as he was sent spiralling forward by the energy and slammed into the ground. The Namek smirked.

“It seems that you’ve used up all your energy, demon. Now, I can finish you and make this world one of glory!” Dabura hissed at the pain before speaking.
“What do you mean by ‘this world’? Isn’t this your planet?” asked the demon. Now he could see a malicious smirk appear on the Namek’s face that looked out of place.
“Oh no, you are…” started Dabura before the Namek convulsed before falling dead on the spot. A dark haze slowly drifted out of the body before re-appearing as a shadow.

“Damn, I knew it...” muttered Dabura as he noticed the shadow charge up a dark energy beam. “It’s all over Shadowslayer,” cackled the shadow, preparing to fire a electrical surge, only to be hit by Dabura’s fire breath. “It’ll take more than AHH!” shrieked the shadow in pain when two ki beams slammed into him from behind, dissipating the shadow permanently. Dabura looked up and sighed, seeing the two guards had recovered.

Looking down the field at all the dead bodies, Dabura sighed. “I swear I will make the shadows pay for your deaths.”

The battle had been won, but at a price. For no victory comes without sacrifice.
