This makes me laugh. Not that your opinion isn't valid, but, seriously, you say finally as if you were there at the beginning of his reign, or as if it affected you.

I'm pretty damn sure it effected him-

just like Racism effects minorities these days.

or how slavery made black's modern day lives horrid today.

Oh wait.

Personally, even if I wasn't affected, I can say, with all sincerity, that the crazy-ass bastard will not be missed. The only thing keeping this news from being awesome is his god damn, lock-step brother...

Umm...excuse me, but what's with all the hate? I think I'm with Bujin, none of you guys have a right to talk. And Frieza, I think we (the US) did a good job containing Cuba's influence, so what's with the comparison to slavery? Now if this were the anniversary of the death of Stalin or something you'd have a point but Stalin was an extreme.

We all did.

Pretty sure they didn't like him either.

Krillin, that was point exactly.
Why make a big deal, when it doesn't effect us at all? Just like slavery doesn't (in a bad way) effect modern day black people.

Well, I'm afraid I'm gonna go onto a tanget, so I'll stop.

Yeah, like 98% of my family lives in Cuba, some even living on the streets, with broken-old down houses, that they have too pay to keep, I hope that bastard becomes the Mr. Satan's sex slave.

No, you all didn't.
I don't think you noticed my point. People are saying "you have no right to talk, it hasn't affected you."
This situation could've affected the poster's family. I think you see where I'm going.

When I said finally, I didn't mean it affected me. The dude's been in power since the Cuban missile crisis. Which was in the early 1960's.

Most people nowadays would say that it's the War on Terrorism or even the Former Bush's Gulf War, where we wasted billions of dollars that could have easily have been spent on Law Enforcement or School Funding or Healthcare or any of those viable options.

My theory is that our problems arose many years before this. I would go so far as to say that Abolition back in the 1800's is the cause of our problems. When we abolished Slavery we began to develop what is considered by some to be an "Air of Superiority." We began to think that with our modern thoughts and view's on things, none of which were actually true because we had National issues with Racism all the way into the 1960's. We began to think we were far greater than we actually were.

I think that if we'd have kept slavery in place, we'd still have our own internal issues, small as they may be, to deal with and wouldn't have felt the need to get involved in the problems of others as we so often find ourselves doing these days.

Discuss...

I sure do hope you say that on a field trip to Harlem. See what happens. ;)

Also, every time I hear people complain about America getting into other people's business, as it were, I can't help but wonder if they forgot what happened when we kept to ourselves.

Nazis and Pearl Harbor FTW

But I'm going on a tagent. Anyway, affected or not, people can spot a bastard. Castro was a bastard. And when a bastard is out of power, people celebrate. Well, a bastard's out of power, and I'm kinda celebrating. I'd be celebrating more, but he's being replaced by another bastard.

Seriously, though, who the hell would feel bad about celebrating Castro's departure?! This is friggin' Castro we're talking about here.

Fidel Castro would be the identical clone of Stalin if he had the same amount of Power as Stalin did.

Actually we wasted trillions of dollars. That is more of a liberal stance which I feel I have to disagree on due to the fact we could very well still get attacked. However, I do agree we need to stop policing the world.

I never said we couldn't spend money on National Defense. International Offense on the otherhand.... I don't support.

Except that this is national defense: We were attacked, we said "fuck this", and began attacking back anyone even remotely involved with attacking us. Including people like them (the Taliban), and people making things easier for them (Iraq, and probably Iran next).

Also, we kinda HAVE to police the world, at this point. We're pretty much all that's keeping people in line, these days. Unless you think the UN is gonna do it, which is just adorable. they've done so well with Darfur, after all...

"Hey! Darfur! Quit killin' people, why don'tcha!"

"No."

"Oh... Well... Um... I got nothin'... Er, HEY! America! What gives?! Why don't you get off your lazy ass and do something?! Gah'd...!"

We're basically the parent driving the station wagon filled with rowdy-ass kids, at this point. And if anyone thinks we should go back to being isolationist, go look at what happened back in WW2, when we sat around and let the world be, and how it changed when we got in there. It'd be nice if we had some help, but much of the world is content with sitting back, doing nothing, and bitching at America when we do something.

It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.

I never said no one has a right to state their views. I simply said that it makes me laugh to hear a US resident say "fina-fucking-lly" when hearing about the resignation.

And it makes me laugh a bit harder when I hear people say he was crazy. The only view a lot of people here, or elsewhere, have of him is through the media, which is clearly biased towards the US.

...You're kidding, right? The man has killed any political opponent he's had, thrown homosexuals and members of religions he wasn't fond of into forced labor camps (the UMAPs), and imprisoned people in horrid conditions without a fair trial for little or no reason on a regular basis (often due to simply speaking out against the government, or just due to Castro's own paranoia). Yeah, that damn US media and their dirty spin!

And let's not forget the 13 de Marzo, while we're at it.

This is why I try never to debate American policy. People latch onto an idea and refuse to let go. We should just drop this before some loudmouth tries to shove his holier then thou ways onto everyone else.
