A lone Namekian sat lazily under the shade of a tree. The air was cool and refreshing on his worn skin. The grass and leaves seemed to be a soft bed. Everything around Bikou Shin was green and lush; there was no devastation, destruction, or demolition. After arriving on this planet the Namekian wondered how he had ever managed to survive on Vegeta. He couldn’t have imagined something like this while still living on the barren wasteland he used to call home. Bikou laid back and closed his eyes with a grin, savoring his first day on what most Namekians called their home planet. Shin vaguely thought back to his ventures on the ship that brought him to this tranquil place.

The carrier OMEGA 993-X zoomed through the black abyss known as space. Stars rushed past in streaks of light as it sped for it’s destination. It was a large ship, with multiple levels of storage bays and rooms, and so would take a few days to reach planet Namek. Deep beneath the metal hulls of the lowest floor lay the basement storage dock. And there lay a cramped and uncomfortable Namekian by the name of Bikou Shin.

Shin re adjusted his feet in an attempt to dull the effects of them having fallen asleep hours ago. He was sick of being stuck in between a small gap of a ship and a box, tired of the pitch black of the room, and sick and tired of this trip. The teen reminded himself yet again that he would finally be on Namek by the end of this ride, and yet again it did no help to his situation. If he could at least move, he could do something useful, like training.

If Bikou could, he would have smacked himself in the forehead at this time. Slowly, and a bit painfully, he dislodged himself from the crack in stored supplied. Forgetting he had climbed quite a bit to be able to wedge into the hiding place, he fell harshly to the floor. His body already being numb, the Namekian hardly felt the impact, but the cold metal on his hot face and hands refreshed him with new vigor. The teenager lifted himself from the floor and stretched himself out, ridding him of the numbing sensation.

As his eyes finally began to adjust to the dark somewhat, a door swung open with a bang and a rectangular beam of light blinded him, rendering him unable to move, and instead of running he ended up sprawled on the ground. While grasping his burning eyes, the young warrior heard idle chatter, they hadn’t noticed him. After hearing the slam of the door and the clicks of two flashlights, he uncovered his eyes to see the scene.

Just in time, as he barely managed to crawl out of the path of a beam of light. Two men continued to talk casually as they walked down the passage way between piles of stored goods, their flashlights scanning the area as the headed across the room directly towards the illegal stow away.

Quickly Bikou Shin regained his feet and stood. The Namekian could see the two guards more clearly now. They both had scruffy auburn air and deep tan skin, they were muscle bound and had low voices. They were adorned in dull yellow jumpsuits, each carrying some sort of tool box. Remembering he could be seen any second, Bikou began backing up. The teenager crept silently until his back pressed against the wall. A flashlight’s ray past inches over his head.

They advanced still onward. He was trapped, and would be discovered shortly. He gulped, they weren’t even close to the planet yet, how could he evade capture for days on end? Finally he decided, the only thing to do was to take them out. He gritted his teeth and charged forward with a battle cry, all his anxiety and fear diminishing. The guards looked up in shock, dropping the flashlights.

They spun wildly on the floor, illuminating the charging Bikou and men in yellow in quick flashes and blurs. It was difficult to see because of this, but the Namekian leaped forward anyway, tackling one of the men around the waist. Keeping his grip, Shin continued to propel forward from his jump, taking the man with him. That moment of flying through the air seemed to last forever, and appeared to happen in less than a second.

They slammed down into the steel floor and skidded a few extra feet. Bikou sat up, sitting on the guard, who was still stunned by the unexpected assault. The Namekian pulled back his arm, then thrust it forward with all his might into the face of the man. Blood spurted from his nose as he shouted in pain. The teenager leaped off to face the other guard, the other rolling on the ground grasping his face.

They seemed relatively weak, but then something was pulled from the tool kit. The guard had been piecing together a device during the take down of his companion, and was now finishing it. Before Shin could interfere, a large blaster was pointed directly at him. And that charging energy doesn’t look to friendly. The Namekian had barely managed to lift his arms to shield his face then the blaster erupted.

A bright light flashed as the beam flew through the air with a high pitched whistle. The blast slammed into Bikou’s raised hands and he and the beam went flying backward. The Namekian gritted his teeth, then attempted to grip the energy and shoved his feet back onto the ground. Shin managed to shove the beam to the side in time to escape the situation with only a slam into the wall and bad shoes.

His rest was quickly interrupted however, as another beam barely missed him. The teenager scrambled up off the ground and immediately ducked, avoiding yet another blast. By now he had figured out the time it took to charge a blast before it could fire, and charged at the gun wielder. Taking three long steps then dashing to the side, the teen evaded all gunfire and approached the guard.

Jumping backwards as Bikou Shin reached the target, he flip-kicked the weapon into the air, before the guard could make a jump he caught himself on his hands and propelled himself up; and kicking the blaster off into one of the large piles. He landed ungracefully, face first and with a loud thud. As he started to get up, the remaining guard delivered a kick to his side and sent him sprawling onto his back. The auburn man sprinted forward, kicking the Namekian yet again, this time to the side of the face.

Now Bikou Shin finally managed to jump to his feet, only to be shot through the air by a high kick to his chin. He crashed and skidded across the metallic floor. His auburn opponent picked up a lead pipe from a pile, meanwhile the teenager had scrambled up and dashed across the room. Shin began looking left and right for a door of some sort, but there was no need. For at that moment, the floor disappeared and blackness engulfed the young warrior.

He felt cold air whip by him, whistling in his ears. He vaguely realized he was falling, then immediately landed on the hearth. The bang on the walkway rung in his ears as everything blurred out, and then all was black.

Bikou Shin awoke with a jerk from the bang of a door slamming against the wall. The Namekian looked around and surveyed his surroundings. He was alone on a thin walkway suspended in the air. There were many thin walkways and stairwells around him, and a thick haze of smoke billowed up from different spots on the hidden floor. Bikou grasped that this was something like the boiler room or engine. Shin gripped the railing and pulled himself up.

Voices echoed through the fog; calls, shouts, and reports. They were looking for him, that guard must’ve gathered up others while he was unconscious. I lot of others, too. The teenager had only just started on learning techniques, and had barely managed to escape two of them alone. Despite that, Bikou was set on fighting them. His father taught him well that a true warrior never backs down, no matter what the odds may be.

He leaped onto the railing and started leaping from railing to railing, trying to find them. But there was no way to pinpoint them. He had thought that the sounds of their voices was due north, but as it had turned out, the smoke had distorted the sound. So now he was searching aimlessly. But then, as he jumped through the mist for the umpteenth time, he felt an icy chill and instantly broke out in a cold sweat.

When he landed, he couldn’t even breathe, it was as if a heavy wet cloak had been wrapped around his entire body. The Namekian teen slowly turned his head to the walkway’s side. There stood a mysterious figure, all but his scruffy white chin and emotionless lips were concealed under the brown cloak he had adorned. The teenager managed to jump down onto the platform and lift a fist. The stranger lifted a single pale hand, ignoring the hostility and giving a sign of peace.

Shin set his hand down and leaned back against the railing, more to keep stabilized then to show he no longer was going to attack.

“You wish to become stronger?” The cloaked figure spoke in a calm, low voice. The young warrior’s head was swimming with thoughts and questions. But, the one thing he knew for sure was that this guy was strong. Bikou grunted and nodded. “Good.” The cloaked figure stated simply. His hand blurred, and Bikou felt something strike him.

“Wait for me.” The cloaked figure ordered as Bikou Shin’s vision began to fade and he fell limply to the ground. Bikou saw him vanish before the world disappeared. After that he awoke seemingly a second later. He was laying on the roof of the ship, a second later he felt and heard it land. Just as he sat up, the round design caused him to slide off the hull and smash into the ground. At this point he realized he was on Namek.

Bikou Shin opened his eyes. He hadn’t meant to fall asleep. But, he couldn’t blame himself; it was so pleasant under this tree. As he stood, he noticed a cloaked figure beckoning him in the distance…

To be continued.
