You have been training hard all on your own for the past few months waiting for the moment to prove your worth to Guru himself. Today is that day a small force of Warriors have managed to get by Guru's guard team its up to you to defeat them as A award Guru will Unlock Your Potential.

Days had passed since Nagol had begun his training with the Guru, and he was beginning to feel confident that he would be able to learn much under his new Sensei. The Guru gave Nagol spiritual guidance, often speaking telepathically to fully convey what it was that he expected of his new pupil when a new technique could not be readily understood with words alone. When something had to be demonstrated visually, the Guru's Guardian - who Nagol now knew as Wid - would offer to show how to do it. This, coupled with the many intensive exercises Nagol habitually performed every day, left him feeling sharper and stronger than ever before.

The sun had begun to set on the horizon, marking the end of the day. Nagol was meditating beside the Guru, drawing upon and attempting to mimic the calm, contemplative aura that enveloped the giant father of his people. Wid stood at his post beside the doorway, but the trio expected no more visitors. All was still, and all was well.

Nagol was working for the third time in as many days to reach within himself and find the inner fire the Guru had taught him lay within all Namekians. With this fire, the Guru said, a Namekian warrior could protect himself against a foe that would otherwise be able to destroy him. In order to find the fire, the big Namekian had to cease all other activity and focus first on centering himself - nothing but the self could exist when seeking the fire within. All distractions shut away, Nagol felt himself drawing closer to his goal.

In the dying gloam outside, Wid picked out two figures moving toward the Guru's home. Both of them were decidedly non-Namekian, and they moved with a familiar confidence. As he had done so many times before, the Guardian stepped forward and set his arms akimbo in preparation for the challenge he knew he would have to issue.

"Who seeks audience with the Guru?," called Wid to the approaching humans. He stood poised before the entrance to the home of the Guru, prepared for anything. As Guardian to the Guru for many years, he had seen dozens of warriors dispatched by angry off-worlders come to this door seeking a confrontation. Every one of them had been sent away sorry for the encounter, but the knowledge that one of them may eventually best him had always rested uneasily in his mind. By the looks of them, these two working in tandem might be able to give him a run for his money - they stood at about 5' 10", with well-muscled but not overly large profiles and very similar features. Both wore gray gi with a stylized symbol that presumably represented their school of training.

"We are here to inform the Guru that he will be giving exclusive, uninhibited trading rights to the Terra Corporation - and we'll be telling him in person," chimed one brother, setting his arms akimbo and matching the stance of the Namekian.

"Get out of the way, ya' ugly twerp," added the other. He stepped in front of Wid and drew himself up, puffing out his chest and trying to stare the Guardian down.

Already knowing the only possible direction this could go, Wid gave the carefully practiced and measured response that he had given so many times before, "The Guru will not respond to threats; please be on your way, and may you find peace."

A malicious grin spread across the face of the human that stood nearly chest-to-chest with the Namekian. "You really oughta -"

Done with the conversation, Wid let his body do the rest of the talking. Executing a quick knee to the man's groin and a head butt simultaneously, he began the task of deterring these men from reaching the Guru. Being prepared for something, the man managed to pivot to the side in time to take the dual impacts on his right hip and shoulder. The impact was enough to delay him, but his partner slid fluidly into the fray and began worrying Wid's midsection. For a moment the Guardian was made to wonder if he would be able to hold his ground, but he found a gap in their assault and slipped backwards even as he pushed them away.

Nagol heard the battle beginning outside and tensed for a moment, losing focus on the flame he had come so close to reaching. Before he could make a move, though, the Guru sensed his intent. "Not yet, Nagol. Wid is a capable Guardian, and he has never failed me. Stay with me, and focus on your studies," rumbled the Guru.

Against his every impulse, the big Namekian returned his attention to finding that deep inner fire.

Taking advantage of the brief respite that he had bought himself, Wid adopted one of his most familiar fighting stances - loose enough to respond to threats from multiple directions and solid enough that he would not be bowled over by a major attack. Both of the humans took time to compose themselves as well, off-put by the Namekian's strength and skill. All three of the combatants looked warily at one another for a moment before leaping back into action.

This time the humans engaged first, coming from both the left and the right simultaneously with a series of quick jabs. Swiftly, mechanically, the Guardian brushed aside their blows one by one. Adapting and changing tack, the two attackers made a few feints that resulted in Wid overexerting himself, then followed through with dual hooks aimed at his skull. Only barely able to respond in time, the Namekian fell backward onto the ground. Where his head had once been, the two humans slammed their fists together with a jarring crack.

Even as the pain from the mistaken impact just began to register with them, the two men found themselves falling to the ground as their legs were swept away. Regaining his feet, Wid gathered his energies and extended his arms, preparing to unleash an Energy Dan upon his dazed foes. Just as they came back to their feet, the humans were suddenly peppered with blasts of devastating energy that forced them to perform a series of evasive maneuvers and give ground, moving further from the doorway. Smoke and dust rose into the moonlit night as the three moved away from the Guru's home, clouding their vision and removing them from the rest of the world.

None of them saw the tall, slender silhouette that slipped into the Guru's home and toward the chamber he inhabited.

Nagol sat meditating beside the Guru despite his nearly overwhelming desire to aid the Guardian against his attackers. It was taking him all the willpower he could muster to block out the sounds of battle and focus on his meditative studies, but it just wasn't enough for him to center himself entirely. Hoping to accomplish what the Guru asked of him, he focused on matching that calm aura that always surrounded the big father.

When the battle moved further from the door, only a small part of Nagol's consciousness recognized the shift. He had begun to make real progress again, almost able to see the flickering inner white flame that ran through him and all his kin. Through walls of ego and stretches of consciousness he moved, journeying within himself to find what the Guru had taught him was there all along. Closer, closer, and -

"Welcome, little friend," boomed the voice of the Guru, startling Nagol out of his meditations. A very tall, skeletal alien with taut brown skin stood before the throne, bedecked in light black armor that covered his torso and upper legs.

"Do not play games with me, you big slug. You know why I'm here, and there's nobody to protect you now that your damned lackey is out of the way!" hissed the imposing alien. "I am Dazz, and you will be signing a very special new contract tonight - and if not, you will not be in our way come morning."

Nagol was blocked from the creature's view by the Guru and his throne, and knew he would need to make good use of the element of surprise. Rising slowly, soundlessly to his feet, he slid into the shadows of the room and worked his way around to situate himself behind this new assailant. The alien did not notice, as he was staring intently at the Guru.

"O, the futility of these parlays," lamented the Guru, looking aged and sad upon his throne, "The people of Namek do not wish to be controlled by outside forces - why can you people not understand this?"

"Silence! Your tired old platitudes have been heard over and over again by my employer's representatives. Now is time for you to sign or face the consequences," the alien said, producing a piece of paper that held the terms of the agreement his organization sought.

The Guru sat, silent and ancient upon his throne, an immovable object faced by a dark will from another world. Nagol prepared to act, every muscle poised, every bit of his energy gathered for what would be the real battle of the evening.

Unmoved by the threats of the belligerent monster that had snuck into his home while his Guardian did battle outside, the Guru shook his head. "Please, go in peace from this place."

As instructed, Dazz launched himself at the Guru, uttering a chilling cry as he did so. His form, his trajectory, everything put him in a perfect position to gouge out the eyes of the gargantuan leader of the Namekians - but he fell short when his legs were seized in mid-flight and his body was flung against the wall opposite the Guru. Before the alien could even take stock of what had happened, Nagol was upon him, fists pumping vigorously. Completely unprepared for the attack, Dazz could only make a feeble attempt at defending himself.

Still, the alien was formidable. Nagol's demonstration earlier in the week had made representatives of Terra Corp. realize that they needed something other than just hired muscle to get the Guru out of their way; they needed a professional killer, somebody that had been in something more than a drunken brawl or a "tough spot". Here was a creature that had shed blood before and had no qualms about doing it again. Once Dazz realized that his Namekian opponent was using everything he had just to press an offensive against a prone opponent, he knew that he had a chance.

Taking advantage of a brief pause in Nagol's attacks, the assassin raked a clawed hand against the Namekian's chest and sprang away, performing a somersault and landing five feet distant. He had just enough time to regain his balance before the hulking green warrior was upon him again. When they grappled again, there was a mutual exchange of blows that rocked them both and kept them struggling for the advantage.

Guttural snarls and hisses escaped from the throat of the assassin, his savage ancestry coming to the fore as he shifted from using his fists to using his claws, his head lunging forward occasionally as he made attempts at biting the Namekian. Nagol suddenly found himself hard-pressed just to keep his feet, having never been faced with such ferocity. Knowing that he had no other choice, he began to fight with similar abandon, using every part of his body as a weapon. In little more than a minute, both of them were bleeding from a dozen small wounds and had suffered at least two or three broken bones.

With a sudden cry, Dazz grabbed hold of Nagol's right arm at the wrist and forced it to full extension. The alien's other arm came flying toward the Namekian's shoulder, a deep red light emanating from his forearm. Just before the fist made impact, an explosion of energy ripped through the tough green flesh and pitted the bone; when the fist made impact, it snapped what was left of the bone. Nagol screamed and fell to the ground in agony as the alien cast his arm to the side in triumph.

"Stupid slugs! Why do you have to get in the way so often?," yelled the alien as he kicked the squirming Namekian in the thigh. Green goop poured out of the ragged hole where there had once been an arm, and victory had been assured.

Dazz realized that he was allowing himself to get sidetracked again; he was here to destroy the fat sack sitting on the rickety old throne, not some bug that happened to get in his way. Affording Nagol one last kick in the ribs, he turned on his heels and began moving slowly, purposefully, toward the Guru. Now his opportunity to kill the old weakling had come and nothing was left to stand in his way. There would be blood, and plenty of it.

Once again the assassin was standing in front of the Guru's throne, poised to strike, when Wid burst into the room all covered in dust and blood. He looked like he had been through hell and crawled his way back, but he was keeping his feet under him and that was enough. "Stand back, monster! If you wish to harm my master, you must first defeat his Guardian!," he cried in a hoarse voice.

"What?," cried Dazz, "Where have Nib and Nob gone? You couldn't possibly have defeated the both of them!"

"You underestimate my pupils, Dazz. Please, surrender while you may and spare us this violence. This can not end well for any of us," plead the Guru in a tone that did not quite imply a plea. There was a matter-of-factness to the appeal that made the alien wonder for a moment if it might actually be possible that he would be defeated by a couple of pieces of trash from a worthless little world in the middle of nowhere. Of course, one was already down and the other was barely on his feet. There had been worse times before.

"JUST DIE!," came Dazz's reply even as he sped toward Wid, his entire sinewy body taut and extended. Claws extended before him, the alien rushed at the exhausted Guardian with every intention of ripping the life clean out of his battered body.

Nagol lay on the ground, continuing to put up the pretense that he was in enough pain to keep him out of commission. When the alien had taken his arm it had hurt a great deal, but the loss was by no means permanent and he knew enough tricks to continue to work through the pain. When the Guru spoke to his would-be assassin, Nagol focused on letting go of the pain and willing his body to produce another arm. A roiling, moving sensation came alive in his chest as his body used a huge portion of its resources to generate a new limb. Moments later, a new arm burst out of his torso, a perfect replica of what he had lost only minutes ago.

With that out of the way, he took the opportunity to rest that was afforded him when Wid entered the room. It looked to Nagol that the Guardian would not stand much of a chance against Dazz, but he was buying enough time for him to catch his breath before making it to his feet. Now, there would be two to stop the one attacker.

As Dazz closed the distance between himself and Wid, preparing to make a killing blow, Nagol reached out and extended both of his arms as fast as he could, stretching them across the room and into the spine of the lithe alien. The force of the impact wasn't particularly devastating, but it did cause the alien to lose his footing and allow Wid the time needed to step out of the way and knock aside his opponent's blows.

Now the two Namekians moved in on their assailant, each of them relieved to know that the other had been able to do his part in protecting the Guru up to this point but badly battered. For all that had transpired so far, it seemed that the alien would still be able to put up a fight. Who would be able to survive the encounter remained to be seen.

Like a cornered animal, Dazz hissed and spat rabidly while making feints at the two Namekians that now stood between him and the Guru. He had expected to be done with this by now and on his way to collect a paycheck, but now found himself facing a little more than he was sure he could handle. Still, not all was lost. With another ferocious cry the lithe monster made to attack Nagol and changed direction at the last moment, closing with the Guardian and battering him with a devastating series of blows intended to kill.

Bits of flesh flew off of the Guardian's forearms as he tried desperately to defend himself from the onslaught of the assassin. Just as it seemed that Wid would be able to withstand no more, Nagol wrapped his big arms around the otherworldly attacker and flipped him into the air. Having already been struck from behind by the big Namekian twice, Dazz was not caught entirely off guard. While airborne, he lashed out with one clawed foot and tore into Nagol's shoulder. Together, they fell to the ground.

Wid suddenly felt a wave of fatigue wash over his entire body. The two humans he had dispatched before returning to fight the alien had given him a run for his money, and now this assassin had proven to be more of a problem than either of the first two. Standing wasn't going to be much of an option for long, but he could at least offer guidance to his kinsman. "Nagol! Give him everything you have, use everything you can! You must protect the Guru," he cried, even as the world became blurry and consciousness began to fade away.

Both Nagol and Dazz came to their feet, bloodied and torn. Once again it was just the two of them doing battle.

Nagol heard Wid's words and saw him fall, an experience that shattered some control mechanism that lay deep within him. A fire grew in his eyes, and he felt now a faint glimmer of what it was that the Guru had been teaching him to reach. Acting without thought and only instinct, he went on the offensive with the assassin and began to beat him back, every ounce of strength he had being forced into each swing of his arms or kick of his legs. Dazz was entirely off-put by this attack, having seen only the more disciplined style that the Namekian usually battled with.

Twenty years of martial arts training had culminated in this - when Nagol now let himself do battle without constantly analyzing the situation, he still moved with precision and nearly flawless form. With a ferocious cry he threw a left hook that caught the alien square in the jaw, eliciting a viscerally satisfying snap. A knee to the thigh nearly doubled the assassin over. Suddenly, it was as though two monsters were now doing battle, all concern for personal well-being cast aside and only the urge to win left.

Nagol was able to press his advantage all the way to the ground, where he finally found himself wrapped around Dazz's torso, the alien only capable of making feeble attempts at breaking away. Bits of blood and bone lay all around the two, Nagol missing huge chunks of flesh where the rabid alien had managed to bite and tear at him. With an unsettling sense of finality, Nagol brought his fist against the chest of the alien; in his fury, he struck too hard and shattered the monster's rib cage. Realizing that the battle was done, he rose to his feet and limped to the Guru.

"You have done well to defend me as you have, Nagol Rei. It pains me deeply to bear witness to such violence, but it is far from the worst that I have seen in my many years," said the Guru to his battered child, "Now you must go to the healers in the village two miles south and bring one of our brethren to tend to those that have suffered here today."

Nagol bowed before pivoting on his heel and heading for the door, making all haste down to the nearest village to find somebody that could heal Wid and the three off-worlders. As he ran, he reflected on the battle that he had just won. He had never realized that there was that sort of savagery within himself, or that he would be able to act correctly when in such a state. That he had damaged the alien so badly nagged at him, but he also understood that there had been little choice in the situation.

Arriving at the village, the battered warrior found the hut of a well-known healer. It took very little to explain the situation, and soon the two of them were on their way to deal with the four unconscious combatants that lay in and around the Guru's home. When they arrived, it was quickly determined that everybody would be able to survive their wounds and recover. With the Guru's input, it was decided that the three aliens would be sent to their respective home worlds and ordered to never return to Namek again, unless they had peace in their hearts and minds.

To his surprise, Nagol did not earn any criticism from the Guru. It was not until the next day, while talking to Wid, that he learned that the Guru was actually quite understanding when it came to what happened in the heat of the battle, and understood the amount of control it had taken for Nagol to not just destroy the alien. Once again, it was time to continue training with the Guru, and now it seemed that there would be a boon for thwarting the assassins.
