The red of the planets surroundings had matched his own making him almost invisible to any viewers from a distance away. He was meditating upon one of his favorite secluded spots near a volcano's crater, which was only a mile or so away from his position. The mouth of the cave although dark remained red from the constant glow of molten lava nearby casting a crimson luminescence upon the cave walls and sending his shadow to dance as though it was alive and wanting to move to the distant echo of the factories and mines, in which the manufacturing of weapons, armor, and other prized valuables from the many minerals found and created from the fiery realm itself. He had traveled there many of times to work his shift, however many had come to accept, that he was more of a guardian rather than a blacksmith or a miner therefore allowing him to spend his time in training, meditating, or wander the universe as he pleased. He preferred solitude to be his ally, therefore, casting out the thoughts of friendship and bonds that many living beings would make. This in turn gave him even more time to train. His training had been extensive and extremely rigorous even sometimes life threatening. He remembered the time he had wasted all his energy against a volcanic eruption only to find himself at the ledge holding on by his few fingers to keep himself from falling into the crimson liquid that would melt him in an instant. Also the time he crossed an alien, a saiyan who had devastated most of the surrounding area, to his luck however the beast which came had left just as quickly after discovering he was not in the location he needed to be, leaving Torbie in deaths fingers once more only to escape by chance that a hermit had lived in a nearby cave. His mind now wandered to his most important task, the true reason as to why he was meditating in such a secluded place: today he had to contemplate his next steps. Finally feeling strong enough, it was time for him to make the departure from the planet he had called home. His journey as he had considered had just begun. |

His first duties as he recalled was to collect the money needed for his travels. The use of the money was extensive his list was almost ongoing through his mind he began to recall each item. ~Some sort of ship, one with room was more preferable, and a rejuvenation tank, a few other items such as healing items he could use in case of emergencies. He had to find someone to take over his shifts as well. ~ Although seemingly simple tasks, it was hard to find someone to replace him and obtain all that money in short time, although his savings did help him out slightly. ~Ok…ok…one step at a time…you came to train…focus on clearing your mind not filling and stressing it…~ He sighed not wanting to let go of his thoughts and continue with his contemplations however he knew that there would be time for that later. First he began focusing upon one of the easier subjects such as the scene around him and the planets which he had studied earlier on in his life, although the memory escaped him what planet he originally had been taught. In time his thoughts of the life he knew and didn’t know at the same time faded into colors, red then a golden to a blank white. Suddenly he was within that room, the room of emptiness, the room of eternal white matter that extended in all directions. Each step he took echoed, each sound he made was likewise in effect. He breathed in deeply only to absorb the scent of molten rock and several ores which he couldn’t think of at this time, yet he didn’t see any of this within the room. Pausing in his steps he turned around and gazed directly not surprised to see himself facing back. |

His mental training had continued for some time. This was mainly to secure his technique, combinations and counters to be able to respond in an instant other than think of at the moment and have a slow response time. Sighing and opening his eyes, he stood up and began heading towards the center of the volcano. Each step he took lead him to a hotter part of the crater where the fiery core provided training which he as always preferred, a test to his full limit. He always trained at such extents for he always found himself in positions where the odds of fate were against him. Even in such training, he knew there were those greater in power; he had heard tales of Saiyan race which was seemingly one of the most powerful creatures to exist within the same universe with powers beyond normal reckoning. The tales even traveled further to explain the legendary powers of a higher level: The Super Saiyans. Pausing near a ledge, his feet only shoulder width apart, his gaze staring directly strait across the swirling lava pool beneath him, he began striking punches left and right. Slowly chanting each number of his punches, “1, 2, 3, 4...20, 21, 22....44, 45..." Each action would lead to a faster momentum, faster and faster he would punch, his muscles tensing and relaxing at such a speed that they would slowly tear and later hear to allow for even strong and faster movements in the future. He had soon reached a limit where he had to place his right foot back a few inches to allow a more stable stance as his speed of his punches would increase to a point of him having to count within his head just to keep up. Within his mind, after passing the number of punches he had set for that day and was now just testing his limits, he continued to contemplate about the stronger beings of the universe. ~I will become stronger...just wait...I'll be as powerful as those Legendary Saiyans...and then I'll have a legend of my own...~ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Torbie's Decision: End ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

------------------ Torbie's Plan ------------------ Ultimately, Torbie knew that he had to attain the money required for all the supplies he needed in order to depart, and furthermore he needed a heading in which would lead him to greater strength. With a sigh he had walked into the tent of the old medicine woman who he just ran an errand for. Although he knew the idea of an errand did sound safe and easy, the location as always was one of the three key elements in almost everything including safety. Deep within the Northern Continent borders into the Hell’s Coffin she sent him and even deeper into that, until he stood at one of the most dangerous locations upon the planet. He shook his head as he dismissed his reminiscing thoughts and focused on giving Vela her crystal ash that she had required. She gladly accepted the pouch and relocated the contents into her vial and left the room to her back area, where he assumed her lab was. Moving to her cabinets he began looking through the already viewable substances to get a good look at their names and perhaps recognize them in the future as he waited patiently for the medicine woman to return. Several minutes had passed before she stepped into the same room as him and approach him with a sack and a closed hand. “Please accept this as your reward, little one.” She had a habit of calling almost anyone a little one for the age difference with her own. There were rumors that she was beyond two hundred years old. Holding out his hands he bowed politely as she laid several objects into his hands. One as he could tell was a sack of Zeni some money she probably had from selling her services of spell casting and rare item making. The other was a pill of some sort, but distorted in several shades of colors. |

Torbie looked at the strange pill in question and slight disgust unsure of what it truly was made from. He was certain it wasn’t dangerous for the medicine woman had no reason to harm him; however the pill still made him slightly uneasy. “What does this do?” He had inquired her as he continued to glance at it without moving, as though afraid of something occurring if he did. “It is a boost pill…little one…it strengthens your body once you ingest it…” She had now moved closer and examined it in his hand. “They take several days to make; I had sensed your mind the few days ago you had come in here. It seemed to me that you were planning to depart soon...so I decided to take the liberty of giving you a farewell present.” She gave him a small smile and for once he could tell that there was frailness about her that he hadn’t seen before. ~Was it her time…was it coming?~ He had wondered within his mind, knowing full well she was probably aware of his thoughts. “Calm down little one…” She had now walked off towards the opposite way she had come again searching for something. “No one sticks around forever…right?” At her statement he began to wonder if she was referring to him or to herself. He opened his mouth slightly about to ask her as she turned around. Catching her gaze he shut it and bowed. “Thank you for your gifts…” Was all he could muster to say before heading out of the tent with the money and the pill. Storing the two items away for the moment he headed to the right, now heading to his needed location: his job. After all he did need to earn more money in order to buy equipment. |
