Guru's Bodyguard Location: Namek Difficulty: Easy (5 posts) Reward:+200 zeni, +1 DP, +12 all stats, +1 Rp Credits Available: Always Guru's bodyguard usually never leaves his side. He has stood guard over the elder Namekian for years. But even the most devoted need a break once in awhile! Relieve him for a day and ensure Guru's safety. Who knows...maybe you might even have some action. They will only entrust this delicate job to a fellow Namekian. [OOC: I will be using German for the ancient Namekian language, to spice up my RP a little… I will include what the German means in brackets. Hopefully this works out alright.] Dende was beside Guru, hugging his knees to his chest. He listened to the raspy old Namekian elder speak. In the hut, a single dim torch the hut up with an eerie orange light. Dende watched the shadows leap and bound over the thin walls of Guru’s hut. If the young green skinned healer would have blinked, even for a split second, he would have missed this… but as soon as Guru began to speak, the fire exploded in a brilliant light show of rainbows and a plethora of color. Dende gasped quietly and shifted his gaze to Guru’s large face. “Dende, when you take Kami’s place on Earth, make sure to be wise in all your choices.” Guru said soothingly. “I have given you all my knowledge as an elder; there is nothing more for me to give you.” He said wheezing heavily. Dende nodded and stood up slowly. “Thank you, Master Guru.” He said bowing at the waist. “I appreciate this information and knowledge that you have passed on to me.” Dende said beaming with pride. Guru chuckled. “Now now, Dende, there is no need for this. As a future elder you are required to know all this.” Guru said as a small smile cracked across his wrinkled green face. “Dende, I want you to know, you are a highly revered Namekian throughout the universe, and you’re not even into adulthood.” Guru said touching Dende’s shoulder tenderly. “I’m proud of you.” Dende tried to hold back his ever growing smile, but it wasn’t working; as a big toothy grin spread across his emerald face. “Thank you Master Guru.” Dende said bowing again. “I will continue to make you proud, even when I’m the Guardian of Earth.” Dende promised. “You have my word.” Guru’s eyes welled with large tears. “I know you will, you have impeccable potential and you have enough knowledge and intelligence to know how to use it.” Guru added. Dende nodded. “Thank you Guru… thanks a lot.” Dende said proudly. Then suddenly a huge boom rocked the whole hut, destroying Guru, his guard, and Dende. |

Dende awoke with a sudden start. A cold sweat dribbled down his cheeks and chest. “Why do I keep dreaming this?” Dende said as he wiped the sweat from his brow. The jade skinned Namekian huddled beneath his thin blanket. “I think it’s a sign.” He said blinking in the ‘night’ light. The second sun was up, but wasn’t as hot as the first. Dende slipped from his bed and to the window. He leaned outside the window and breathed deeply. Dende’s hut was situated atop a ridge overlooking Guru’s hut below, and the village in front of that. Dende sighed as he watched a tiny dinosaur have a few munches on a small shrub outside of the Namekian’s hut. Dende turned and stepped out of his hut, looking at his sun stone clock to find the time. “It looks to be less than an hour to sunrise.” Dende said closing one eye to find a more exact time. Finding none, he looked towards the orange horizon. The orange sunrise gleamed across the dew that saturated on the hut’s rooftop. Dende smiled at the utter beauty of the site. “Nature creates the best art.” He said thinking of when Guru said that all the time. He sighed as he hunkered down on top of a large stone waiting for the sun to rise, because the second the sun rose, Guru would be awake and Dende would go down to explain his strange dream to him. Suddenly a green hand slipped over Dende’s mouth and dragged him back. Finally, the hand removed its grasp and the user showed Dende his face. It was Guru’s guard, Bana. “Dende, it’s me.” Bana said glancing around. “It’s Bana, sorry for scaring you, I just didn’t want you to go see Guru and I wasn’t there.” He said ashamedly. “So, here I am.” He said looking down at Dende. Dende sat up and turned towards Bana. “So why aren’t you watching Guru?” He asked rubbing his eyes. “I need a break… its too much work for me to keep such a sharp eye on EVERYTHING.” He said sighing as he looked away from Dende’s intelligent eyes. “I see. I suppose you want me to take your place?” He asked looking at Guru’s hut and then at the horizon. “Less than 15 minutes until the sun rises.” He murmured beneath his breath. Bana nodded weakly. “Would you?” He asked grabbing Dende by the shoulders. “Please?” He begged. Dende rolled his eyes. “Sure. This is the first and last time. It should be your honor to guard Guru. Guru is the savior of our planet; don’t you think you kind of owe it to him?” Dende asked glaring the weak Namekian. Bana looked away. “Thanks.” He huffed as he turned and flew away before Dende could take back his agreement. “It’s just for today, promise.” “Alright, well I guess I am guarding Guru for the day.” Dende said as he began his job down to the elder’s hut. “Here I go.” |

Dende arrived in the small Namekian village and exhaled loudly trying to catch his breath. He continued on, walking at a semi-brisk pace hoping that Guru wouldn’t wake right on time. The sun appeared behind the mountain and Dende was forced to pick up his pace to make it to Guru as soon as he awoke. Dende was less than 10 feet away from the hut when he heard Guru. “Bana? Bana, where are you?” he called nervously. Just then Dende burst though the thin curtain for a door. “Guru!” Dende replied as he came in to calm the distressed elder. “Relax. It’s Dende; Bana said he needed a break, so I came to fill his place.” Dende soothed, holding the elder’s clammy hand. Dende stepped back and looked at his elder in the eyes. “Let me turn on your torch.” Dende offered charging a small ki ball in his palm. Guru smiled weakly. “I can young one.” He stared at the basin of the torch and began to mutter some sort of words. “zünden Sie mein Feuer an.” Guru said beneath his breath. The torch lit up in a brilliant orange and the room was able to be looked about without having to look through darkness. [Light my Fire] Dende gasped. “Master Guru; was that… ancient Namekian!?” Dende asked in awe. “I thought ancient Namekian was a dead language.” He said rubbing his forehead. “After Frieza attacked I thought the teachers were wiped out.” Guru nodded slowly. “Yes, it was. Very good observation, Dende.” Guru smiled. “I am the final teacher; I hold all of the Namekian knowledge there is to hold.” He said grandly. “Guardians are the only ones allowed to begin learning the Ancient Language of our people, but you are a special circumstance.” Guru said. “You are of a dying race. You’re the next Earth Guardian, specially born to be an effective Guardian. I will mind link with you to share my information on the Ancient Language.” Dende was astounded. “Amazing!” He cried in glee. “When do we start my lessons?” he asked excitedly. Guru’s wrinkled face produced a weak smile. “Now.” He replied as he beckoned Dende forward. “Let me place my palm on your forehead and I shall fill you with the knowledge of the Ancient Language, for now, this is all the information I can relay, I don’t have too much power.” Dende nodded greatfully. “I cannot thank you enough Master Guru.” Dende said as he stepped forward letting Guru place his palm on his forehead. “I’m ready.” He breathed as it felt that his skull was being torn open. |

Dende wanted to scream but his mouth felt glued shut, so he stood in silence as everything swirled in a flurry of greens and blues. Pictures shot past his brain… words, people… culture. Everything was there. With a great tug, Guru removed his palm from Dende’s forehead and sat back, waiting for Dende to return to the real world. “Dende?” He said softly hoping not to startle the young Namekian. Dende snapped awake, dizzy and in pain that nearly crippled him he staggered around finally falling to the floor with a thud. Dende pushed himself awake and sat back on his knees looking at Guru. “Master… that was quite painful.” Dende said rubbing his temples. Guru smiled. “I know, but watch.” Guru said clearing his throat. “Dende, Sie werden der Wächter der Erde sein” [Dende, you will be the guardian of Earth] Guru said in a very deep tone. He sat back with satisfaction waiting for Dende’s response. Dende nearly fell back over, listening to the words come from his Master’s mouth, and understanding them, plain as day. “Das ist erstaunlich! Ich kann Sie verstehen!” [This is amazing! I can understand you!] Dende said excitedly. Then he reverted to Hume. “Master, how is this possible?” He asked looking at Guru with bulging eyes. “Easy my child.” Guru said happily. “I can pass on knowledge through the use of my palm.” He said raising his palm in the air. “But now, I retain only a small bit of the knowledge I passed on, meaning you don’t know all of the Namekian language. Before you die, you MUST pass this knowledge on, and heed them with this same warning.” Guru said. Dende nodded. “I promise you, you have my word.” The jade skinned Namekian promised. “Where did you learn your Ancient Namekian?” Dende asked standing to his feet slowly and making his way back to the right hand of Guru. “Child; I was born the first day Namek was created, I lived the Ancient Language!” Guru gushed trying not to giggle at Dende’s foolish question. |

Dende looked away in silence. He was thinking deeply, very deeply. A new thought had taken a place in his mind. “What happens when Guru dies… who takes his place?” Dende thought rubbing his chin. “I suppose I will be forced to ask.” He said trying to control himself and not make the elderly Master think of his demise. To Dende’s surprise, Guru chuckled. “Young one, fear not what happens to this planet after my death.” He said patting Dende on the bald green head. “I have a special someone in mind.” He continued letting Dende sprout ideas and possible new elders. “You know him very well.” Dende cocked his head to the right and thought about the next possible elders that he could know. “Piccolo?” Dende asked looking Guru’s eyes. Guru shook his head and replied negatively. “How about… I don’t know.” Dende struggled to grasp another Namekian’s name. Guru smirked. “Try Cargo.” The olive skinned elder said locking his hands and placing them on his large gut. “He will be the next elder of Namek.” Dende gasped. “Cargo… as in my brother Cargo?” Dende stammered. “Wow…” The jade skinned Namekian said. “Is this a special event; two brothers being Guardians at the same time?” Dende asked looking at the gleeful old Namek. Guru chuckled. “No, it has always been like this… that is, if it can be.” Guru said happily. “Kami and I are brothers.” Guru said licking his lips with a fat pink tongue. “Also, the two groups of elders before us were also brothers. Before that, our elders haven’t been recorded, so I cannot say for sure.” Guru said. Dende nodded. “Alright, thank you Guru.” Dende said not knowing what he was thanking the intelligent Namekian, but he was thanking him nonetheless. Dende bowed and turned away. “I shall be going home now, it is nearly dark and Bana should be back any second.” Dende said waving Guru off. “I will see you tomorrow.” Dende said stepping out of the hut. |

The night was young, but growing darker each and every passing second, and Dende had a whiles walk before he even noticed his home, especially in the dead of night, but now with Frieza dead, the walk wasn’t nearly as bad. Bana landed softly in front of Dende. “Learned a lot today, huh?” He asked a small smirk on his face. Dende looked at him strangely. “What do you mean?” Dende said looking at Bana’s eyes. Bana chuckled. “This was a plan between Guru and I. Do you really think that I would leave Guru behind?” Bana asked grabbing Dende by the shoulder. “I was right above his hut the whole day.” Dende nodded in understanding. “I see.” He said continuing to nod. “So, this was set up so I would ‘guard’ Guru, but instead pick up a lot of information on being an elder.” He said finally stopping his nod. “Yes, you have it right, young Dende.” Bana said bowing. “Clever.” Dende replied looking at the sky. “Very clever; but could you not just bring me here to teach me?” Dende asked looking at Bana. Bana nodded. “Also correct, but we wanted to test your patience and your loyalty towards your countrymen and your Master.” Bana said tapping his temple. “This was all a big test, a plan.” The emerald guard said as a small smile spread across his face. “Clever is too simple of a word to describe it.” Dende smirked. “I suppose so.” He said clasping his hands behind his head. “I should be getting home though, it is getting quite dark.” Dende said tiredly. Bana bowed and nodded. “Yes, it is. Good night young Dende.” Dende began his journey back home, thinking of all the lessons Guru taught him today, and everything left to learn. All the lessons, morals, stories and tales left to be told… what more lies in wait for future elder, Dende on his quest to become Earth’s Guardian? END |
