The following days after the medicine woman had sent him on her little errand seemed so slow. All of his senses were heightened to a new degree; however his own desire to continue had seemed less important now. Instead of leaving Cauldron so early he had now wished to stay and attempt to help its people to find safety within the lands of the not so friendly planet. The constant run-ins with the elementals as well as any other creature almost always meant death for anyone. Even himself, the one who was considerably the strongest on the planet seemed feebly week against the stories of the might of the creatures that dwelled within the caverns and the lairs throughout the vast region of the planet’s extensive depth. He had lived there for several years, he knew that. Dates and times he had forgotten for the clouds of the smog and ashes of the constantly active volcanoes mixed with the fumes from the few machines that were active at the metal processing centers and the grand mine created a blanket that stretched as far as the eye can see over the planet’s surface. He had sighed and sat in one of his high points in the city of Cauldron, if he recalled correctly it was named after a man who had saved the city which no one seemed to remember so the name was changed to, the Blazing Vein, for it was in a location where most of the minerals were foraged, mined, processed, and even relocated through to the other cities. His high point was the open part of the Cauldronian hall, there many meetings, festivities, even religious gatherings were held. The secret passage that had lead him there was often overlooked by all and only few knew of it. “Hey you!” an excited female voice had rang out behind him as he heard steps quickly echo towards him. Her name was Leara, a partner in a sense of his job, and someone who knew him the best; their relationship however, wasn’t a deep one. |

He looked from the corner of his eye at her then back to the scene of the red and grayish ashy sky that seemed to constantly state that this world was nothing but chaos, despair, and suffering. He only shook his head as he heard her continue speaking. “So what’s the great Torbie has been up to?” She had a slight accent, of something he could not describe for it wasn’t heavy, but enough to make her voice ring and stand out above others. “You know Torbie,” She looked at him closely that made him glance at her again to drive her back in perhaps of respect rather than fear of his more than usual silence, “I had spoken with Vela recently and…” She had paused looking down her fists clenched whether in frustration or disappointment he couldn’t tell. He stood up and walked over to a corner of the hall’s roof, which was only half of it, the other half of the roof sat at a higher position in a dome shape; staring down at the ground and the people below him. He knew what she was going to comment about and it wasn’t something he could help with, for what’s done is done. “I can’t believe you actually went there…” She had a low voice as she spoke. Leara continued but seemingly more worried than frustrated now, “I mean to go to Hell’s Coffin…and even worse to the Demon’s Tomb.” She paused again as though unsure of what she was attempting to speak or what point she was trying to make. “I do what I must Leara.” He looked over his shoulder at her then upwards at the sky. “There’s little reason for you to worry anyways.” He continued as he began to reminisce a little about the past of him and her that was although long; was quite not so important to him for he had shared little of his attention to making friendships. |

“W…why not?” She had stuttered as his comment reached her ears. “Because, I will be departing soon and you won’t see me ever again.” He was turning around at this point to walk back towards her while continuing his thought pattern. “Furthermore, I have a few more tasks to complete…more dangerous tasks as dangerous as the last one.” Torbie had already recieved a few 'quests' so to speak that he needed to complete in order to help those of the city. He had spoken little, and when he did speak he couldn’t help but being formal from the lack of use of common style of language. He already could tell that she was hurting from inside, but there was little he could do, he had only knowledge of the feeling not the sympathy or the empathy for it. He waited a little longer before continuing his plan to her. “As I stated just now, I won’t be departing this instant, therefore you will see me at the work…when I’m actually there and not doing other tasks…” “Wait what other tasks do you plan to do? Can’t I come with you?” She had now intervened in hopes of some ideology that he still could not understand. He let his mind ponder upon the idea at the moment and finally allowed the conclusion of her coming along with him. With a slight nod to her as a response he turned from her towards the cloudy sky again. “My plan is simple Leara…” The red alien began. The feeling of him speaking this line seemed to him as though he was giving a speech to his purpose, making it seem slightly bizarre for his reputation. With a slight determination his speech continued to flow, “I plan on traveling to each planet, and helping as many as I can…and perhaps as I continue I can grow strong and attain another of my goals…to be a grand being, more powerful than the Legendary Saiyans…my goal…To be the best in every possible aspect of my being.” He had finally finished speaking and sighed at how corny it was starting to sound. At least it was only him and her in this place to be able to hear him; after all, it could always be worse. |

Torbie and Leara had spent the rest of the afternoon patrolling the area as usually did. Talking mostly about his and her future plans and how they were planning to build a space pod rather than buy one that way they could save the money for the supplies they would been to bring on their travels to far off planets. Leara was more interested in seeing the biology of the universe. She was considered a scientist within the walls; however, due to her constant interaction with Torbie she began a job along with his to act as a guardian patrol in case of any incident. The incidents such normal robberies, which actually were rare due to the fact that few had else to run in a location as dangerous as this planets, were their normal tasks. People however tried their best not to do such negative actions for in a place that offers so much death for so little effort, it’s best to have a friend or an ally to lend you a hand from time to time. There had been other actions that the duo had taken on, odd jobs more than anything, but money was something they needed and as the saying went “Beggars aren’t choosers”. With the shift closing to an end Torbie and Leara were on their way back to the Head Building to sign off and head off home. From a distance a small whimper was heard. Pausing, the two listened and eventually found the source: a boy, kelixouxian to exact. Leara rushed over to him and began looking over him and eventually asked, “What’s the matter?” The boy, after taking a few deep breaths replied, “M...my father…he’s…he’s gone…” “What do you mean gone?” Torbie had interrupted at this point. He although wasn’t as tender as Leara had been for most of his time he spent in solitude, he did hold a great value in honor; and one of his honorable traits as he would think of, is helping those in need. |

He listened in silence as the child relayed his tale to his audience at headquarters. There was few there, including Leara who seemed as though she would not leave his side. Surprisingly the kelixouxian held a great deal of information, in fact his tale had made an image in Torbie’s mind so clear that he almost departed the moment the boy finished; yet he bided his time as always replaying the event in his mind as the child had spoken.
Leara had stayed behind with the child, granting the crimson being his peace as he continued to replay the story in his mind, in attempt to answer his never ending questions with a single one that kept standing out the most: Why? |

His time alone as usual was shortly lived. Only a few minutes had passed before Leara had stepped out of the room and headed towards Torbie with slight eagerness. He gave her a look as though saying “Speak” so she took a deep breath and began relating a few other facts he had missed while being outside the room. “The place that the kelixouxian father was taken,” She had begun speaking, “is an old prison facility used to be called the burning rock.” He had known this place for he personally had seen the location first hand, even more deep than most people had ventured, there was a reason it was called The Burning Rock. First as always, the landscape of the surrounding area was nothing but liquid magma, the only way on and off that place was what everyone referred to as the Crimson Light, this was a gem that had long been revealed from a stone bridge that used to connect to The Burning Rock, which was destroyed for the purpose of not allowing prisoners escape. The operation of this giant crystal was difficult and was often left to specialized forces that had the power to control specific elements of this land. Most just hand the ability to manipulate the flames of the magma to release in specific locations to act as a momentum for the stone. The powers such as these weren’t common therefore escape from such a place was almost impossible. The place had a second reason for it being called the dreaded name. His memory recounted his first and what he was hoping to be his last visit as he stepped onto the porous rock of the prison. He hoped the effects of that rock had swelled down over the years, but the chances: unlikely. With a sigh he turned to Leara who seemed slightly pale, she seemed to know the place well if either through knowledge of book or tales the actual experience will almost be certainly worse for her. |
