Ok so I have to take my computer in to best buy today to have the keyboard fixed, and I'm getting the RAM upgraded. I'm not sure how long it will take, but I wont have a computer for a few days.

I'll try to post for our battle on Monday at the very latest Cross if I can't borrow some ones computer before then.

If anyone at Best Buy knew what they were doing, this whole process would take maybe 5 minutes.

That is if you are especially slow.

How do you know what type of RAM you need to buy though?

Just look at the ones you have currently and get the same type. There are only 3. DDR, DDR2, DDR3. Few use DDR anymore. More older comps use DDR2 like mine, and newer uses DDR3

The problem is the Keyboard though, they have to send it to the factory for that. But PSP ftw, kinda. Thats what I'm using now, which makes posting hard as hell (I dont know how Uub did it...)

hmm, you can get a cheap and cheerful keyboard for a couple of quid here, so in America it will probabaly cost about 5-6 dollars.

If any of my periperals breaks, its just easier, cheaper and more efficient to buy a new one.

Probabaly takes more to fix a keyboard than it does to buy!

As for the ram, you can install it yuorself and takes about 5-10 minutes, 30 if you decide you want to vac out your tower (just keep the vacaway from the boards. Dont let em touch, just run your vac over briefly)

What caused it to fry anyway?

Nothing, I have a laptop, and a few keys broke. (Shitty ass plastic hinges), which means they had to tear it apart to replace the keyboard which costs about 200$ but thanks to the warrenty its free ^^

Also makes it harder to install the ram on my own. Which is why I'm just having best buy do it.

Ah, the trusty laptop!

They are a whole new ballgame to a tower!

As for ram, usually if you take your old one out and pop down to the shops with it, they can tell straight away what it is, what you need and in somecases, may even buy it off you

(Although I have a tendancy to hoard all my pc stuff, my other pc, which is broken ironically due to motherboard knackering up, is to put as much ram as possible in your machine. More ram never hurts and if you have the space, use it!
