A'grahl was led from the chamber in which Crono and his friends were and moved towards what must have been a kitchen in the back. An entrancing aroma filled his nostrils, causing him to stop dead in his tracks for a moment. He stood completely still, bordering statuesque, for nearly two full minutes. It was similar to the smell of a fine Oolong tea, though it had a trace amount of cinnamon in the odor.

Regaining control of his limbs, A'grahl made his way to the door of the kitchen. The enthralling odor from before was nothing in comparison to the complete assault on his senses. The smells from this room were enough to make a dog go insane, and his nose was far from picking up 90% of the sources. There were spices here and there, though the pleasant wafting odor betrayed the true feel of the room.

Within the culinary laboratory in which Popo and Korin were the mad scientists, A'grahl saw foods he had yet to even know existed. There were green spiney fruit, tofu that seemed to be growing flowers, herbs and spices that could only be classified as possibly sentient due to the fact that they followed his motions around the room.

I wonder what sort of places you must travel to get these things? I thought I was in a tough spot when I had to help Higgins find his way back here, and it turns out there must be far braver men who bring supplies to Master Kami, A'grahl though as his eyes paned the room.

"What is all this?" A'grahl pondered, not fully noticing his inquiry was audible at the time.
"This is the kitchen; A'grahl; what else would it be?" Mr Popo asked before smiling at Korin who was stiring up something in a large cauldron.

He watched as they stirred and mixed, chopped and minced, mashed and tenderized. It was all so invigorating, to watch two masters do what they do best. It was similar to watching two expert martial artists giving their all in a battle. There was no comparison in the world to the magnificant sight before A'grahl's eyes.

Korin finally cocked his head in A'grahl's general direction, not taking his attention away from the yellow beet-like vegetable he was beating with a tenderizer,"I assume Master Kami mentioned to you about your trianing?"

A'grahl nodded in response,"Yes he did. I am to report to the two of you for my task at hand."

Popo grinned a bit, his gigantic lips doubling in width as they spread thin. Thin, in this case, being something to use extremely lightly when describing the size of such massive lips. He turned towards A'grahl, brushing some spikey leaves from his jet black flesh before walking up to A'grahl.

He reached around A'grahl's neck, securing two strands of fabric and tying the ends together. A soft cloth lay across his torso, nearly hanging to the floor and covered in pockets around the waist. He had never seen such a garb, and looked up to Popo and Korin with an expression of the utmost confusion.

Within seconds the two burst into a fit of laughter, Popo bending forward and using his knees to support his upper body while Korin fell over on his side and rocked back and forth. The embarassing situation did little to phase A'grahl, as he had not understood what they were laughing at yet. Popo pointed down at his own garb which was mottled with a wide assortment of stains, ranging in color from yellow to neon green.

"It's an apron, A'grahl," Popo said between light chuckles,"It will keep you clean for our first test. We need to see how quick you are with your hands."

Korin wiped some tears away before drawing forth a large green fruit of some sort. It was lumpy, and looked as if it could have been a medievil flail in a past life. He knocked it against the counter a few times before handing it to A'grahl. The monstrocity was heavy, and seemed to be hard as obsidian.

"I want you to throw that into the air, and when it drops give me 62 pieces of fruit," Korin explained as he and Mr. Popo backed to a far corner of the room.

Sizing up the fruit, A'grahl tossed it a few times. As it fell back into his hand with a thud he determined which areas were harder than others. After doing this close to twenty times he felt confident that he could complete the task. He shook both arms a bit, loosening up before he got too tense.

Ok, I need to cut this into 62 pieces....how will I do that? He though as he began to doubt himself,What if I don't go all the way through with one and end up with sixty? Perhaps I should ask for a few practice attempts? Then again, this fruit could cost thousands of zeni to locate and I don't want to have that tab hung over my head.

"Feel free and go whenever you want," Popo said as he adjusted his vest, covering a different section of jet black skin about an inch to the left of where it had previously rested.

A'grahl looked down, drawing in a very deep breathbefore closing his eyes and focusing on the fruit. He threw it up and released the air from his lungs, opening his eyes to see the fruit falling back at his face. His arms moved like a series of bullets, moving far beyond the capabilities of the human eye. The knife in his hand seemed to vanish as he swung rapidly at the descending bulbous fruit.

As it began to split, the two sides seperated beyond his initial reach. A'grahl shot a clone of himself out of the left half of his body. It grabbed a knife and began to perform a similar action, causing his arms to vanish from the naked eye while it swung slightly slower at the odd fruit. It fell into what seemed like hundreds of pieces, all smaller than A'grahl had anticipated.

Oh no...I overdid it. I cut this thing up way too much, He thought as he hung his head over the diced fruit before him.

Korin's jaw hung loose as did Popo's, the two simply staring at A'grahl in disbelief. They shot eachother looks back and forth before rushing up to him.

"I am sorry," A'grahl said as he looked over to the djinni rushing him,"I did quite a few too many. I will return to the training room so that I can at least get some training in until Kami is done with Yamcha and Crono."

"No!" Korin exclaimed as he jumped up to the kitchen counter,"You did better than we expected. That test was designed to see how close you could get to sixty four pieces. What you just did was amazing, I have yet to see anyone move that fast but Kami himself!"

Silence fell over the group as A'grahl's confusion turned into arrogance. It would seem that he had actually done well by outperforming their initial requests. Perhaps this success was only the beginning, and being considered to Master Kami was quite the respect. Maybe there was a chance of beating Master Kami in a spar if he kept up at this rate.

I know that I can become as powerful as any other fighter out there, A'grahl thought as he looked around the room, Maybe I can even best Sir Crono one day. No, I need to banish such thoughts from my mind. It is not my place to fight others for power, nor is it my place to fight for sport. I must only better myself to better defend my friends. Even if, by some freak chance, I were to out perform my friends it would give me someone more to protect.

A light chuckle broke the silence, and A'grahl spun to face the tall Namekian standing in the doorway. Kami's robes were rustling slightly in the breeze from the open windows, betraying his figure. The slender master held himself as if he were frail, but it was all a ruse. He was truly much more capable than he let off, and it proved the extent of his intelligence.

"A'grahl," Kami said in his cool and emotionless voice,"I think that you need not worry yourself about your desire to become strong. You have the right idea though about self control, as you should not desire strength as a tool. Instead, you should desire strength as a means to help others."

So you can read my thoughts as well? A'grahl thought, waiting to see if Kami would react to his inquiry. It seemed that he did nothing in response, other than a minor twitch of one of the antannae on his head. There was no way of telling whether that was a normal twitch or a reaction to reading his thoughts though, so he let it go for the time being.

Kami slowly walked towards A'grahl, picking a piece of the fruit up from the counter and biting into it. His eyes widened as he quickly picked up another piece to eat that as well. The fruit crunched beneath his teeth, sounding as if it were a piece of burnt dough being smashed between his teeth. Setting down the next piece of fruit he picked up, Kami looked over to A'grahl.

He set his walking cane down against the counter, patting A'grahl on the shoulder and smiling,"I have a proposition for you A'grahl. Crono and Yamcha have begun training in a device that we use to enhance our strengths. It is called the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. It allows you to spend an entire year training in a single hour, and the results are phenominal."

He then began walking out of the room, motioning with one hand for A'grahl to follow. As A'grahl caught up with Kami he noticed Kami seemed to be moving faster than usual. He seemed to have a bit of a spring to his step as he walked further into the palace.

A'grahl followed Kami down a hallway that led to massive double doors. They seemed to be constructed from the same ivory that was used to create the rest of the palace. As he marched forward with Kami, he continued to admire the many tapestries and plants around the walkway.

"You have very exquisite tastes," A'grahl stated as he stared at the sculptures and art amidst the hallway.

A beam of light cut between the two from a parting cloud and then dissapeared as Kami turned to speak with him, his robes following a few seconds behind. "The art you see is mostly the result of Mr. Popo's requests. We have quite a bit of resources up here, given that we are the only provider of the senzu plants. As well, my teaching is saught by many a self righteous student."

"Luckily for you," Kami said before chuckling a bit, straightening his robe out and regaining his composure,"I decided to train you. I saw hints of darkness within your soul A'grahl. I hope that you will learn to control it soon, or it will take over your very being. You are a good fighter and strong in your convictions, and I would hate to see Crono betrayed as deeply as one of his knights becoming a servant of darkness."

A'grahl stopped walking for a moment, cocking his head in confusion,"One of his Knights?"

Kami's eyes lit up a bit and he smiled again,"Ah, well I guess I may have spoiled the surprise then. Just pretend that was never talked about if he asks you, ok?"

As they rounded the corner, A'grahl saw before him a large house within the palace. The sight was a bit confusing, as he couldn't figure much reason to have a home within you home. He looked around the massive room that contained the small home, there were seven fifty foot pillars around the room that held up the ivory and stained glass dome above them.

Kami waved one arm from his right to left, spanning the room with his point,"This is my newest project. I have been working on creating a second Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Unfortunately it has only worked once over the last few years, and there were some technical difficulties with the last two attempts."

Kami chuckled a bit as he gazed to A'grahl,"It did hurt one man, though he recovered rather quickly. Turned out that the temperature inside was the exact opposite of what he wanted it to be. The look on his face though when he was expecting sweltering heat and it started to snow was entertaining."

What is Master Kami talking about? Wondered A'grahl as he marvelled at the device. How can a machine create? Can this thing really distrort reality? Even if it could, why would Kami allow such a device to exist? Doesn't that defy the will of our souls? Is that not playing God?

Thoughts continued to race as Kami rambled on, his antannae twitching once more. It seemed he had picked up on A'grhal's thoughts again, as his words stopped abruptly.

As fast as the smile had come it was gone, vanishing beneath the expressionless and cold as iron face Kami usually bore. He scanned the room once more, as if trying to see if someone else was there with them. Looking over every nook and crevice, his eyes returned to the machine as he walked towards it.

"I would like you to finalize this testing, and make sure that our second chamber will work properly. There are many training manuals withing, you can change the climate and design of the room to match your requests. Simply think it and it shall be so. The room cannot simulate life, though it can simulate almost anything else. Food, water, clothing and even the mighty elements."

"I am not sure...." A'grahl said in a low and confused tone, scanning around the inside of the prototype hyperbolic time chamber,"I feel like this is wrong. Is this a test of some sort? Trying to see if I will resist the urge to increase in power? That must be it...."

Kami let out a bit of a sigh, followed by another light chuckle. His robes lifted inches from his feet every time he laughed, his shoulders thrashing about while he clutched his walking stick for dear life. He then coughed a bit, clearing his throat and shaking his head. The sunlight that managed to creep past the defenses of the stained glass created a yellow hue about the room, making Kami look a sickly green.

"A'grahl, you must understand that I do not wish to test you with temptation. Only a fool would resort to such tactis, or perhaps Master Roshi," Kami continued, his eyes now focusing more and his tone shifting to a much more serious one,"However, there is a great evil coming. Something is stirring in this universe and there are only a few who will be able to rise up against it. The true test for you lies within yourself."

"You will have many choices to make A'grahl, and they will affect not only you, but all those around you. There are things you will do that you would never believe possible, there are places you will go that you would never imagine. You must believe in yourself A'grahl, and take every chance you can to become who you were born to be," Kami said as he placed on hand on A'grahl's shoulder.

"Warriors are not taught, they are not made and they are not manufactured. A warrior is born, and as such a warrior must become that which they are. You, A'grahl, are a warrior. I see a great future ahead of you as a warrior of light, though you must resist the pull and the mighty grip of darkness. I know it weighs heavily on your heart, but you must resist it."

"I am not sure I understand what you mean Master Kami," A'grahl said as his eyes swept across the machine which still had it's door held open by the namekian master,"However, I trust that your words hold true meaning. I did not know that I would ever be responsible for such choices, but I will strive to improve myself and become a more capable warrior."

Kami nodded and pressed a button on the console, presenting a tray that held small round plastic devices which all had a hole in the middle of them. He grabbed a section of the drawer, as each were seperated into plastic trays. The label of the tray was combat simulations, naval and close quarters combat.

Kami handed the tray to A'grahl and gestured towards a monitor within the room,"If you place one of these disks into that machine it will perform a pre-made simulation to teach you things about multiple types of combat. You will be able to practice combat both on the ground, and inside of a spaceship much like the one you have been building back at your warehouse."

"Why would I need to know how to fight in space?" A'grahl asked as his confusion peaked again, looking down at the tray of these so called 'discs.'

"Things will come in time A'grahl, though there is one you must complete before I let you leave that room," Kami said, pulling out another drawer with but a single disc inside. He grpped the disk tightly as if it held secrets that could end the world,"This is a recording of a training session in which I perform a kata none have completed, save one. I want you to show me that kata when you are ready to leave."

Kami the helped A'grahl into the small doorway, closing and sealing the large, vault-like door behind him. Turning to the monitor, A'grahl examined the disks and wondered which one to try first.

As the door sealed a mist was emitted from multiple vents around the massive room. It seemed so small before Kami had closed the door, yet now the room felt three times the size of the palace. It seemed that the room not only bent time, but also space. He continued to look around the room, while still a bit puzzled by everything going on.

This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life, A'grahl thought as he wondered why it was so cold in the room. His body felt immediately warmer,This is insane! Perhaps I should think about a more focusing climate, somewhere that I could relax.

The room shifted to the mighty Tsuru Mountains, resting above a false portrayal of the no longer standing Tsuru Village. A'grahl's eyes narrowed at the sight as he fought to control his anger. The village had been destroyed and all but a few people killed by Master Tsuru, and A'grahl still felt the sting from such deep emotional wounds.

As he thought this, he saw the village engulf in flame and explosions rip throughout the homes of the many people he once knew and loved. His mind had rested on the carnage for so long that the room began to protray it.

"Nooo! Stop you god damn machine! STOP!" He shouted, pounding his fists against the dirt beneath his hands. The image faded and the room returned to what it had been before, nothing but pure white.

Walking over to the disc machine Kami had pointed out before, A'grahl drew a disk labelled 'Advanced CQC Tactics' and placed it into the slot on it's side. It made a slight humming sound for a few seconds and the room turned jet black. A'grahl felt ki signatures behind him, spinning to face something he had not quite predicted.

As A'grahl fell into a familiar horse stance, with both arms outstretched and his fists forming a tight semi circle away from his abdomen, A'grahl saw four of himself emerging from the shadows of the room. They bore different expressions, as one seemed in quite the bit of pain while the other three displayed different levels of pleasure.

Each version was dressed differently as well: one wearing a jet black and purple variant of the saiyan armor pan wore with scars covering his face; one wore a white turban and robe over what seemed to be advanced training gear; another wore black pants with a purple vest and headband but no shirt and had similar scars to the first as well as tatoos; and the last wore the same clothing A'grahl did now but tattered and bloody.

The one in saiyan armor spoke first,"Should you choose to fight without regards to your own safety, but with willingness to defend the lives of those you care about then this is who you shall become."

The one in the white apparal stepped forward next,"Should you choose to defend your friends but continue to value your own life then this is what you shall become."

The next one, the man wearing the purple clothing with tatoos, stepped forward and spoke,"If you disregard your friends but look after yourself in combat, studying nothing but the paths to power than this is what you shall become."

"And I am you now, if you make the wrong decision," Said the version of A'grahl that was beaten and batterd, blood pouring from his many open wounds in copious amounts.

"I do not understand," A'grahl said as he looked at the copies of himself, slightly disturbed by the realism.

"You must choose how you would like to develop your combat abilities, either defensively, offensively or balanced between the two." The saiyan armored A'grahl stated,"A man who knows not how defend himself can never protect those he cares about, nor can a man who solely protects others keep himself safe. Make your choice."

"I choose defense, as my own health means nothing in a situation where my friends might be harmed," A'grahl said as he stepped towards the version of himself in the saiyan armor.

"Then we shall begin," The clone stated as the others dissapeared instantly, a massive fighting arena encompassing the two.

Martyrs are only what you make of them...
For what felt like years, A'grahl continued to study under the copy of himself. He learned new tactics, new maneuvers and even a few new moves entirely. His mastery of ki continued to develop as he managed to create a spirit ball attack that would surround his foes, smashing into eachother all at once. This technique would prove useful in the future, though it was the least bit of his new advances.

A'grahl also spent months studying, learning about the world around him and what made it tick. His major focus, as per the clone's instructions, was engineering of capital sized space ships and medium sized warships. After learning them front to back he would complete training simulations with them, until he was capable of commanding an entire fleet of certain warships.

As his knowledge developed, A'grahl would study with his future self as well as training with it and a clone of himself. Though it proved quite rigorous, especially when considering they trained in the middle of a volcano and once in an artic blizzard, he could feel his strength had nearly doubled.

After almost a year of training he decided it was time to try the kata that Kami demanded him to complete. The disc was inserted into the machine by A'grahl's clone while he waited in the center of the room. As it began to spin in the drive the future version of himself vanished from sight, and the room became a pond surrounded by beautiful cherry blossom trees.

In the middle of the water, hovering just above the surface, Kami executed a simple four move kata. He did this, however, without disturbing the cherry blossoms or the water below himself. Truly he was a master of Ki and it's usage, as he repeated the moves multiple times.

A'grahl positioned himself in the same spot as the hologram of Kami, performing the same manuever close to twenty times. Every time, the last kick would cause the tree above him to shake violently. He cursed beneath his breath, stopping entirely to regain his focus.

The next time he tried nothing moved but his body and the image dissapeared entirely. The door spun open and Kami stood in the doorway with a smile on his face.

"How was the hour?" Kami asked, his grin wide as he patted A'grahl on the shoulder when he crossed the door's threshold.

"Hour!? I was in there for a year!" A'grahl exclaimed as he stretched a bit, his body still sore from the work done earlier.

"Time means nothing in that room A'grahl," Kami said as he gestured outside of the room,"I must show you one last thing though, so come with me and then you can return to your new friends. I believe they are waiting for you."
