Dark Deeds

Sometimes the most frightening enemy is not the most powerful...

The village of Senton is finding out the true nature of evil and terror can often strike quietly. Six children have disappeared from the village in the space of three weeks, all have been found murdered in the most horrible ways. All signs point to a human killer, but he has not left enough clues to reveal his identity.

The authorities from the larger cities have been too busy to offer much aid, and the village doesn't have the resources to catch the killer on their own. They have offered what tiny reward they could manage in hopes of finding a champion.

How do you find a foe that you cannot pick out on a scouter? How do you tell who is the evil hidden among these poor souls?
Most importantly, how many more children will die before the killer is stopped?

Even if the morrow is barren of promises
Nothing shall forestall my return
To become the dew that quenches the land
To spare the sands, the seas, the skies
I offer thee this silent sacrifice

The glistening of the sun’s rays slowly washed over the sleeping land. The undying melody of the ocean’s reaches softly lapped the shoreline bringing new treasures onto the soft, sandy grounds. Seagulls overhead began to release their voices to the oceans melody as a silent breeze danced across the waves and onto the land where a darkened figure laid. His clothes were in shambles from previous encounters while his cloak, soaked like the rest of his body, was just as worn as it’s always been. A slight groan of a tiresome sleeper sounded from the warrior’s mouth as he slowly turned over allowing the creeping wave of the sun’s touch bathe him in a luminous wakening.

The being however dared not open his eyes, his body was still hurting, muscles sore, and he was pretty certain much of his energy was drained from his body. A flashback of past events danced through his head, how he found the nimbus cloud; a nonliving entity with a living soul and freedom, his encounter with a large warrior who began fighting him for it, the event in which more arrivals showed up to interfere, even how he by slim chance won the fight. “Why do I always seem to attract enemies…” he spoke to himself as he started recalling another event in which he had replaced the master of the gym and a slayer came knocking on his door. Seemed pride of warriors always was a driving force for their actions, giving them reason where no true reason existed for the warriors’ actions.

How much time had passed, Kain wondered; and where was he? It had been time to part the eyelids from their peaceful state and glance around. Meeting the morning with a half blind gaze as the sun shined directly into his opticals. He noticed he was on a beach, he hoped he still was on the island Kain raised himself and glanced around. No…he could tell the air and trees, the grass and sand were all a different feel. He was nowhere near the island he began at, no village with a gentle martial arts master who allowed him to teach his pupil, no children who loved to play with nimbus…nimbus?
