Sanara sprinted along the sandy desert floor, kicking up a sandstorm's worth of... well... sand behind him. He was headed out into what seemed to be the smack middle of the desert, where they had apparently found some fossil important enough to make a bunch of bandits try to steal it and him to be called so that he could go and protect the old rocks. Really, why would a bunch of bandits head all the way out here just to try to steal a fossil? They knew they wouldn't get away with it and Sanara knew for certain he would be getting paid, and he still didn't want to be out here. But oh well, money was money and if the bandits were at least decently strong then he might even manage to get a little training off of kicking the crap out of him... if he ever got there. But even as he began to think of that, he realized that a tiny speck he had been watching in the distance for some time was steadily getting bigger, and now it was visible to his keen eyes as the digging site that he had been working towards for the past hour or so. And now he was well within distance. In the next few minutes he slowly closed in on it, and it would've taken less time except that he had to slow down a few miles out because if he hadn't then the entire camp would've been likely to be caught up in one hell of a fog of pure sand and rocks. Sanara finally arrived, and just outside the camp was a man standing there, waving his arms as though that would somehow help him to arrive faster. Earthlings could be quite stupid sometimes. As he finally pulled up to the man, coming to a fairly well executed skidding stop, the man began yelling at the top of his lungs. "Hey! Over here! The bandits are attacking again!" "Not even enough time to rest after all that running..." Sanara sighed, then ran off to where he could see a large gathering of figures. OOC: 357 words |

Sanara was able to make out the situation as he approached the cluster of men, seeing that there was a group of men holding guns pointed at a smaller grouping, who were obviously the diggers and scientists now being held captive just a short ways off of where Sanara could see a massive white bone sticking out of the sand. "Well... I guess this is what I get paid for." Sanara muttered, slowly walking forward, feeling the sand move around between his bare toes now that he had slowed down a bit. "Okay, everyone who doesn't work here, GET THE HELL OUT NOW!" Sanara roared, over the sounds of the occasional whimpering worker or threatening burglars. At once, every person there turned their eyes to him, some with hope, some with surprise, and of course many with pure hostility. One man, standing at a good six and a half feet tall or so, stepped forward from the rest to speak. "I'm afraid that we can't do that. You see, my client is willing to pay a lot of money to acquire these bones. So... boys? Take care of him." He then turned around and went back to interrogating the scientists. Two men stepped forward and raised what Sanara guessed were .45 caliber pistols, firing off five rounds before the rest of them even had a chance to act. But really, bullets weren't much of a threat to him. He ducked under the first pair, standing back up to avoid the third which was a very low shot. He finally reached out and grabbed the other two right out of the air, a bit of a stinging sensation went into his palms, but he redirected enough of their force that they had no chance to even penetrate the skin. "Funny, I think you guys planned on killing me with these." Sanara said, balancing the two on his thumbs and then flicking them with his index finger, penetrating through both of the bodies and then landing in the sand a few dozen yards away. Seeing this, some of the men looked shocked, but the leader just looked bemused. The others immediately chose to do possibly the stupidest thing they could have done... they opened fire. Sanara was impossible to hit, however, because by the time the first shot left the barrel he had already vanished. A few seconds later, a resounding crack gave his position away as one of their teammates necks snapped. They all turned and fired, but Sanara was gone again. He re-appeared a few seconds later, bear clawing a man in the face and shattering his nose, then delivering a karate-chop to the adam's apple that if it didn't kill the man certainly made him hurt. "You know... there's a bit of a problem with guns. No matter how fast the bullets travel, regular humans just can't aim that fast." The Youko said in mid-circle, the voice surrounding the two men that were left and causing them to back together, firing randomly away from the scientists and to wherever Sanara's voice seemed to be coming at the same time. Suddenly both of them stopped moving and leaned against one another, and Sanara appeared between them, with a hand on each of their heads. Their skulls began bleeding from where the powerful smashing of skulls had hit. "Now... are you going to listen to me or do I have to stop you from doing any more damage too?" Sanara said, facing his opopnent anew. "Funny... you seem to place me in the same rank as those fools..." The bandit said, pulling out a revolver and pulling back the hammer as he pulled it up to aim it at Sanara. OOC: 619 words |

"Well, if you're so different then I don't see why you have to use a gun. And I also don't see why I have to stand here talking to you making empty promises." Sanara retorted, and vanished from the sight of normal humans once more. But... apparently, the leader could still see him. The man's arm snapped back, faster than the humans around him and almost as fast as Sanara himself, and pulled the trigger. A resounding shot rang out through the area, and the speeding Youko tripped himself up, falling over on the ground and rolling for a bit. And leaving a trail of red behind him as he rolled. Sanara finally came up off the sand, his arm hanging limply at his side and his other arm reaching into a small hole in his arm, pulling out the small lead bullet that had caused the damage. He flicked it back at the leader, but he was able to reach out and catch it a couple feet away from his face. "I already told you, you can't just place me in the same group as the others. So I believe its about time for me to kill you and get this dig site back under control so I can take this fossil to my client." "Sorry pal... but you, im afraid, are not going to be able to take anything to anyone. Because you can't just lump me in the same group with an idiot who takes on a project he can't handle!" Sanara said, voice rising until he was yelling it at the end, and then shot straight toward the man. The leader raised his gun and fired off two rounds, but this time Sanara was prepared. He rolled under the first shot, and ended up less than four yards from the man. He jumped at the last second, launching himself onto the leader and sending both of them through the air. Sanara started pummeling the face of his opponent, who tried to counter but failed fairly well. Then they both impacted on the sand, then they were separated by the impact and both went rolling down a huge dune. OOC: 362 words |

The bandit leader was the first one to recover from the blow, but he no longer had a gun with him and had to rely on his hands once more. The gun was still dangling at the top of the dune so he sprinted back up it, to where Sanara was laying. The Youko had almost no time to react, as the man's hand clenched around his throat. He could feel the muscles behind the fingers, the man was obviously a good bit stronger than he was. But Sanara still had the advantage in speed, so he kicked out even as he started to be lifted off the ground, catching the man on the chin and sending him sprawling backwards several feet. He followed through with the attack, sprinting forward and launching a flurry of punches at the man's upper body, but he had by now recovered and dodged several of his blows, blocking the rest. The man was certainly a very close match for Sanara himself... and since he didn't know any of the energy attacks he had seen more powerful fighters used he would be at a loss when it came time to finish the man off somehow. But thinking about this made him lose his concentration, and the man suddenly took one of Sanara's weaker punches to the face, using his superior strength to barely even flinch from the blow, and then letting fly with a punch that must have had all of his strength behind it. Sanara was sent rolling up the dune a good ways, and the man took the opportunity to run up towards the gun. But the Youko now half-covered in sand that had absorbed his impact was already ready, and he reached out and grabbed the man's ankle as it passed by, causing him to be tripped up and fall down just a few feet short of the gun. The man lashed out quickly, catching Sanara's lower jaw hard, and if he hadn't been able to turn it at the last second and absorb some of the impact his jaw probably would have been shattered. But he pulled with all his might, using the force from the man's own kick against him and sending him skidding down the sand dune again. He tried to grab onto something to stop himself, but the fine sand on the ground didn't give him the chance. Sanara was half tempted to follow after him to resume the fighting, but then he noticed the shiny revolver sitting just a spare few feet away from him. "Well, that'll do it." Sanara muttered to himself, grabbing the gun and pulling back the hammer as his human enemy had done before. But just then he noticed a glowing light that was getting bigger and bigger, down towards the bottom of the slope. It was the man, and he was flying straight at him! "Sh*t, he can fly, he can FLY, HE CAN FLY!" Sanara yelled, pulling back and firing off a round straight at the man. But he easily dodged the bullet, curving around it and coming straight at Sanara. He launched a swift combo of three punches, which were only boosted in strength by the power of his ki he put out by flying. Sanara was sent flying back, skidding along the ground from the force of it and rolling along the ground. The sheer force of it and friction of skidding on the sand so many times had caused the bullet wound in his left arm to re-open what little of it had closed off, and now it was bleeding again. The loss of blood was making him a bit woozy, and now he was really paying for it. Three different bandit leaders, or so it appeared to him, approached Sanara and held up a palm. "Sorry, you pathetic excuse for a fighter, but guns aren't the only way I can kill you." He said, and suddenly a glowing ball of energy formed in his palm. Sanara knew that there was only one way he was going to get out of this, because he knew that the ball of energy would probably kill him in his weakened state, or at least do enough damage to his body that he would bleed out. "Any last words?" He said, grinning. "Just... one." Sanara got out, and the man seemed a little surprised. He obviously hadn't been expecting the Youko to be able to speak in his condition, much less think coherently enough to reply to him. "Boom." And saying that he lifted up the revolver in his right hand, pointing it as best as he could aim towards the man and firing it. His aim was far from perfect, but it didn't really have to be. The bullet was extremely powerful, for a human weapon anyway, and thanks to the fact that Sanara was still faster than his enemy he was able to fire it before his opponent could react. The man's energy blast slowly faded away from his hand, and he dropped to one knee. "You... son of a... bi-" But the man's body shut down before he could even finish the sentence, tipping over and rolling back down the dune a ways before simply coming to a halt, bleeding all over the sand through a bullet wound that looked like it had gone through the heart and one of the lungs. "Maybe I should learn how to use one of those things..." Sanara muttered to himself, still wondering about the energy ball his opponent had been getting ready to kill him with as he slowly limped back to camp. OOC: 941 words |

Sanara slowly approached the rest of the camp that the scientists had set up. There were a good number of them who were already hard at work, excavating the parts of the fossil that hadn't been unearthed yet, which Sanara could see wasn't really all that much. They would probably be done within a couple of hours... except... "Damnit! This is NOT good!" Sanara heard the cry just as he was reaching the main body of workers, not counting those who were running to and fro around the edges in an attempt to get their tasks completed and get back on schedule. "What seems to be the problem here?" Sanara said to the man who had approached him the very first time he arrived at the camp, and who he assumed was the leader of all those gathered there. "I may not be as smart as you guys here, but I can certainly tell that 'Damn, this is not good' probably means that I'm going to be sticking around here for a lot longer." The man nodded back at him. "I'm afraid so. The fossil is largely intact, and part of it is trapped beneath a giant rock we've just uncovered. Im afraid that it'll take us a couple of days to get the equipment required to move the rock out of the way without using blasts or anything else that might damage the fossil." Sanara was already fairly ticked off; he had just gotten the crap kicked out of him by a bandit and now they wanted him to stay here for a couple of days. "So, once this rock is out of the way, your work will be done and I can go home?" He asked, and the man nodded again. "Well... step out of the way. I've got some work to do." OOC: 305 words |

As Sanara walked over, he could see that the rock was, indeed, giant. It was within his lifting range... or, at least, it was when he wasn't injured. The bullet wound in his arm had stopped bleeding for the better part, but now he knew that it was going to hurt like hell and more likely than not bleed out a good chunk of what blood he had left... but damned if he was going to be caught in this place much longer. He thought about all this for only a few seconds while crawling down the small slope that led into the excavation site, and grabbed onto the bottom of the boulder, and then he silenced his mind, preparing himself for this. "Don't do it, you're going to kill yourself!" He heard the head scientist cry out, but he wasn't listening. With one massive grunt he pulled up as hard as he could, budging the boulder up inch by inch. Diggers and Scientists alike were cheering out for him, and he was just encouraged enough to finish lifting it up, and begin moving at a baby's pace out of the dig zone. The crowd parted as the Youko moved the massive boulder through them, walking step by step until he was completely clear of the dig zone. "And now... Hurrgghhh!" Sanara yelled, throwing the boulder as far away as he could, which with only one fully functional arm wasn't really overly far. But it was enough, and when it landed it was definitely not going to interfere with the digging any more. And just a few seconds after that, the crowd erupted in cheers. The scientists were practically mugging him as close and touchy as they were getting, but one way or another, in a newfound world of pain and blood-loss from the re-opened wound on his arm, he managed to find the head scientist. "I'm... getting... the hell out of here..." He said, and slowly began walking away from the dig site. "Wait! What about your reward?" He heard the man yell back at him. "Send it... in the mail... damned if im going to spend any more time here!" Sanara yelled back, and started sprinting off into the distance. OOC: 372 words this post, 2956 total in 6 posts.
