Thin and gentle streaks of blue ink were sucked into a sheet of paper latched onto a clipboard, as the doctor's pen quickly jotted down notes. The slightly aging man looked up over his glasses, at one of the many Plexiglas cells in front of him. The boundaries were four-inch thick; not a luxurious safety measure. Within the tank was a strange, thick liquid that supported one of the soldiers of the Red Ribbon Army. He was currently unconscious, being fed and kept alive through a face mask that allowed him to breath. He'd been in that state for several days already, becoming adjusted to the effect the liquid had on his body. The doctor hummed a thought.

''He won't adapt any further than this,'' he said to the Red Ribbon general standing alongside him. He smiled wryly, not knowing how this procedure would effect the soldiers. He looked to his left at the subjects they had already performed the next phase on and nodded. ''Inject him,'' he told his assistant.

The assistant nodded and set up a syringe next to a metal plate in the cell, filling it with a red gas that looked to be evaporated blood of some kind. Walking back to his computer, he entered a command. The syringe slipped through the metal plating, into a small chamber within the cell that prevented spilling any of the liquid within. The syringe was then let into the cell and maneuvered itself to the soldier's neck, being stuck in and emptying into the vein it had found.

''Excellent,'' the doctor commented. ''Next!''

The assistant flipped a switch and the cells started moving to the left, slowly and carefully - they were obviously very valuable and any damage done would get a lot of people in a lot of trouble. They stopped as soon as the next cell was directly in front of the doctor, proving he was either too lazy to walk or the conveyor served a different purpose as well. He flipped over the sheet on his clipboard and studied the one underneath it for a while. He exchanged glances with the general.

''This is the one?'' he asked.

''Indeed, doctor,'' the general replied. ''Sergeant First Class Adam Peterson. One of our finest men. My superiors weren't happy about him signing up.''

''You have superiors?'' the doctor asked with a grin, obviously angering the general. There was no answer. ''Alright, then. Inject him!''

The view port of the one remaining property of the Capsule Corporation of his own time started lighting up; the increasing glare on the space-proof glass waking Trunks from his slumber, brought on by the infinite boredom of space. His eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the light before him. He yawned into his fist and sat himself up straight, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. In front of him, the endless black sheet of the void was slowly being driven away by a brilliant blue light from the aquatic planet that functioned as his destination. Earth - his home, sort of.

The Saiyan Prince leaned over his console and started pulling up maps of then green and blue planet to plot out a course to land. As it turned out, there was a list of data involving intergalactic companies - Capsule Corporation was one of those listed. Its financial and technological headquarters were given in precise coordinates. Trunks couldn't help but wonder why this data would be available to anyone that pulled up the maps - or perhaps he could see them because he was flying a Capsule Corporation ship himself. Whichever it was, he entered the coordinates and waited for the ship to land - primary estimates gave him about fifteen minutes before contact with the ground.

It was odd how slowly a quarter of an hour could pass when one was anticipating what would await after that period. Having changed his clothes and cleaned out the leftovers in storage, Trunks already stood in front of the door to be let outside as the ship entered the atmosphere. Shaking heavily, the Prince stood fast in his boots, arms crossed and eyes closed until the rumbling turbulence subsided. Only a minute later, the ship touched down just a mile away from the city in which Capsule Corp. was established and located. The door opened and a ramp slid out to the ground, Trunks already pacing down it. As he touched the green grass or Earth and sniffed the clean air, he knew he'd been missing out. Vegeta had been barren and stripped of any flora or fauna - he knew that this planet would be different.

Little did he know that this fact held its dangers.

Bits and chunks of broken glass decorated an otherwise spotlessly clean floor, the occasional stream of blood washed away by either the water from the sprinklers or the oozing liquid that was once held in the containers in the lab. Curled up in a fetal position in a corner of the lab lay the good doctor's assistant, shivering not from the cold, but sheer terror. He mumbled incoherent sentences, perhaps to himself, or perhaps to something which threatened him. Either one would be plausible given the circumstances. Occasionally he would peek out from him pathetic position, checking up on the one specimen still in his cell. Sergeant Peterson wasn't moving a muscle.

''Jimmy!'' the doctor's voice called from a hallway, seconds later his footsteps becoming clear, splashes of water following each step as the thin layer the sprinklers had created were disturbed by his dress shoes. ''Where are you?!''

Jimmy crawled up from his rather embarrassing hiding place and got to his feet. He shuffled to the door to the lab and clicked the handle down, opening the reinforced door - needlessly, as it was now only half a door. A trio of slashes parallel to one another were torn in the thick metal, only to be interrupted by the ending of what was left of the door, quite possibly rammed completely apart by a force greater than any normal human could possess. ''Doctor Lutting?''

''There you are! Let me in, quickly!'' the doctor called and rushed past his assistant, sliding to a stop over the wet floor and grabbing onto his knees, breathing heavily. He motioned for Jimmy to close the door, which he did, for what little protection it would offer.

''What's going on, doctor?'' Jimmy asked, rushing over to his boss and checking him over for any injuries.

''I'm fine, Jimmy, I just need you to do something.''

''Sir?''

The doctor stood up straight and placed a hand on his chest, obviously still slightly out of breath. He looked around the lab, resting his eyes on Sergeant Peterson for a moment, perhaps contemplating something. He eyed the console's red button, which would release all specimens from their cells. Was it a risk he could take? No, probably not. He turned and glared at the sealed container with the blood gasses they had injected into their specimens.

''Jimmy, I need you to inject me.''

''What? Sir, with all due respect, that's insane! You haven't spent even a second in contact with the DNAS, you could die!''

The doctor nodded and turned again, walking towards the console. He flipped a switch and the cells started moving to the left, bringing up several intact, empty cells. They hadn't had the chance to take up all specimens yet - funding from the Red Ribbon Army had been withheld until primary results were available. Doctor Lutting slipped out of his coat and used the cell's control panel to open it. He climbed up via the ladder on the side and let his feet slip into the ooze.

''Just do it, Jimmy. After that, I want you to get out of here and somehow get a hold of General Green. You got that?''

''Yes, sir,'' Jimmy said, pressing a numerical password to the container and taking out a vial of the blood gas. He grabbed one of the special syringes that were lined up next to it, clicking the vial into it. He walked over to the doctor's cell and readied the installation next to it. The doctor nodded at him and hooked the mask onto his face. He closed his eyes and slipped into the ooze completely. His body spasmed as is was covered with the DNAS, the control panel beginning its series of beeps to establish heart rate and neural activity.

Jimmy sighed and walked back to the central console, entering a few commands and looking up at the doctor - now unconscious. ''I sure hope you know what you're doing,'' he commented before pressing the final button and watching the syringe do its task. He grabbed his jacket, slipped it on, and hasted out of the lab into the hallway.
