Alain returned to his quarters after his defeat on his last mission. Those regulars had to bail him out from the fight with fire itself. He was disappointed and their attempts to cheered him only fueled his sense of weakness. He needed a weapon. The creatures of Cauldron gave no remorse to those fighting with their fists. He would need armor too...but that would only support the effects of the heat, and he needed freedom of movement. He rose from his bed and walked toward the mess hall to find his previous squad mates. The long hall ways still confused him, but they were luckily lined with constant maps to guide him. He pushed open the double doors and felt a groan at his stomach. "Looks like the new guy is hungry!" Yelled out a voice from the discord. Alain gave a quick look before walking down the aisle. Making friends wasn't his goal...food apparently was. He found a tray and filled it with a tasteless hot meal. He finished it quickly so he would have more time to find his squad mates. Alain's eyes scanned the room as he leaned against the wall with his arms crossed. A distinct laughter caught his attention to his left. The trio he had joined forces with before were chatting while slowly eating the horrid food served. Alain made his way to them and silently scooted over the tray of one of them before sitting down. "Your blaster weapons, where did you get them?" The group turned toward Alain and paused for a moment. Then they remembered him getting beat down in the flames...they laughed. Then they remembered how they were also too scared to help him...they stopped. Finally one spoke up. "Right now, foot soldier supplies are low, all of Cauldron's effort is on building space craft for the war against the Damaskians. We heard that there was someone selling around here though..." He trailed off. He had respect for Alain but just caught onto what he was saying and tried to stop himself. "What is your name?" Alain asked as he turned to the soldier. "Zile" "Zile, where is this man?" "I don't know..." "Yes, yes you do." Alain said with a smirk. |

Alain calmly walked down the hallway, in his right hand's grip was Zile's collar. Behind him were Zile's friends, Noal and Emar, shouting protests against the Officers actions. At this point, Zile was already complying to Alain's orders and pointed out a left turn for the Avalanian. A few more steps finally silenced Noal and Emar as they noticed Zile giving directions. They shrugged to each other and continued walking in case Alain did something to their friend. A large monitor shone over the next door they would have to walk through, the barracks was up ahead. The door slid open and the group walked through it, Alain eased his grip now and Zile walked freely. Each separate barracks they moved through reeked of sweat. Cleanliness apparently wasn't a strength of the Keliouxian military. Zile turned right into another squad barracks and then a left. He continued navigating through the adjoined rooms and finally stopped at one of the furthest rooms. He walked toward one of the sleeping man and tapped his shoulder. The man flung some curses and argued and was evenly matched by Zile. Finally he accepted defeat and rose from his cot, albeit angrily. He looked around for a moment before eying Alain up and down. He gave a small chuckle before speaking. "Who's this loony prick?" Asked the man spitting on the ground afterward. He wore a dusty jacket above his black military uniform, his hood for some reason was kept to cover his head and it looked as if he hadn't shaved in some time. A smell of liquor also came from his direction. "His name is Alain, man, relax. He's cool." Zile spoke as he walked in between the two. "Alain? What fucked up family would give their poor bastard son that name? The hell you waking me up to talk to this spick?" The drunkard continued, most likely not in full focus and thinking the new officer to be a wash up. "Hey, Zolos r-" "I'll break you." |

Zolos raised a brow at the little challenge Alain had given. He looked around with a small laugh and lowered his hood, revealing short messy hair and two gray eyes. Normally that showed wisdom, but in this case idiocy. "Haha, who is this guy? He's hilarious! I'll br- Ahaha. Too good." Zolos spoke as he made a few exaggerated movements. Alain let him talk, he needed the man alive. A quick counter would probably take him out and hold him for negotiation. He was right. Zolos stepped forward and pushed Zile to the side with his right hand and threw a sloppy hook punch with his left. Alain was amazed on how someone so slow at fighting could be so quick to talk trash. His hand shot forward and met Zolos' own fist with greater force. A cry of pain was heard as the simple attack crushed Zolos' knuckles and sent a sharp pain coursing through his entire arm. "A blaster, get me one." Alain calmly asked, ignoring the bickering between Noal and Emar. The dealer looked up in disbelief at Alain and Zile shrugged, it was the same man who challenged a flame elemental to combat. "Who...who are you?" Zolos asked as he gripped his hand. "A customer." Alain answered, pulling a clip of 200zenni from his pocket. He dropped it on the ground in front of Zolos. The dealer's eyes followed the money's descent and let go of his hand just to pick up the money. All senses of pain left him for a moment as he counted the cash and placed it in his pocket. "What's going on here!" Yelled a voice from behind the group. Alain turned to see a group of three armored Keliouxians. He could take them...but that wasn't what he needed to do right now. "Hands where I can see them!" Yelled the main voice as he leveled his rifle to Noal's chest. "Crap!" Yelled Zile as he lifted his hands. Everyone else followed the action without second thought. Zolos kept his broken hand down. The soldiers that hadn't spoken rushed forward and split everyone up and began to search them. They found Zolos' cash and pocketed it for themselves before moving everyone out of the barracks. |
