Standing in the middle of the desert, Goku held in his right hand a map, the left side was rolled up, containing more of the map. However Goku only needed one region. Looking at it briefly, Goku drew his finger from where he believed himself to be, and where his destination was. A marker indicated where he needed to go, his black pearly eyes glanced downward to another marker. The second marker showed the one and only nearby village, where Goku would bring the supplies.

Huh.. kinda boring to live way out here.

Goku said lightly under his voice, a wind picked up, blowing sand up into his Gokus face, bringing his forearm forward he used tit o protect his mouth and eyes. Once the wind died down, Goku glanced with squinted eyes looking into the distance.

What an odd wind..

Goku contemplated, the wind felt unnatural and made Goku suspicious for no reason other than it didnt feel right. Down deep within the recesses of his stomach, Goku could feel himself stirring from the appearance of the unnatural wind. Bringing a hand down to his stomach to settle it down, Goku closed his eyes for a moment and focused on what he needed to do.

"Better not fly, Master said flying should be used only when I need to get somewhere fast. ..But I want to get there now!"

Goku said, with a bit of whine in his voice. He yet did not understand the meaning of his masters words. Inexperienced and immaturity taking over his better judgment. With Bukujutsu Goku took flight and found it much better than walking over the dry desert. Immediately his sore legs stopped throbbing, and Goku gave a sigh of relief.

"Ahh.. thats much better. Heh! Whats that?"

Gokus voice suddenly changed from calm and relaxed to tense. He saw smoke in the distance, he had not sensed anything foul, at least whatever the smoke was, it was not the cause of any fighters. Goku sighed and took relief in the thought that whatever the cause, it was probably a natural event.

After flying around for awhile, Goku was getting sick of seeing open sand. Looking in the distance he saw something familiar. Floating in midair Goku pulled out the map that he was given. Unrolling only the section he needed he looked at his destination then back up to the familiar setting.

"Woo hoo Im finally here!"

Goku said excitedly, letting go of the map end, it rolled back together by itself. Goku then placed the map back into his back pouch, with his hands closed into fists and his arms extended completely, Gouk rushed to the area. Hovering above the small hut, Goku lowered his body down. Just as he was within a foot of coming down the door opened and the woman stood in front of Goku.

"Didnt your master teach you better than that? "

The woman spoke to Goku, surprising him. Goku lost his balance, his feet flailing, his arms and fingers extended out completely, immediately becoming defensive.

"Ahh! Its its... its not what it looks like!"

Goku exclaimed, while sitting on his rump roast. He had tripped over his flailing legs, and landed backwards, his hands were behind him and he sighed lightly. Looking up at the woman, he gave a half hearted smile, along with the look of guilt.

"Youll get stronger if you use your muscles, instead of depending on energy."

The woman said, almost as if she was scolding and giving Goku a lesson. The insight would prove to be helpful, it is something that Goku had not realized yet, and something his master was trying to teach him from day one.

"Eh heh heh.. oh I see. Im sorry.. oh! I didnt introduce myself, I am Goku.. nice to meet you."

With nervousness in his voice, Goku bowed and introduced himself. He was feeling really stupid for not noticing something sooner.

"Well youre here sooner than expected maybe thats good. If you hurry now, you might be able to make it in time. "

Goku raised a brow, to the womans statement, not quite understanding what she meant by make it in time.

Goku rushed along the desert, his destination was due south by about two hundred miles, definitely too far for an old woman to trek alone. Thanks to his training, and those like him, the distance was nothing with Gokus speed that far exceeded that of normal human limitations. Within time the village could be seen, however Goku would soon find a lot more than he expected.

"Hey its that smoke again.."

Gokus spoke, his voice slowing down considerably. The smoke he saw before, mistaking it for a natural event, was about to shown that there was nothing natural about it. Walking around the village streets, or what was left of it, rubble surrounded Goku. Homes were half standing and half on the street. Rushing to find the bazaar, Goku covered his mouth, his eyes widened and his pupils shrank. Shocked he found the place in ash and ruin. The stands were burnt down, whether it was intentional or not Goku would never know. Looking behind the stands for any source of food Goku became shocked once again.

"Oh man!"

Goku shouted out loud, without thinking first he yelled out as he saw dead bodies of former merchants. Dry blood had came from now empty cavities. The wounds were intentional, by man and by gun. Now that Goku realized this, in the air he could detect the scent of gun powder. Putting a hand on what was remained of a building, the twelve year old boy sighed and leaned up against it.

Turning around, Goku noticed that he was being watched. A group of young men, dressed similar yet not in uniform like a military would, all had their guns aimed at Goku. He didnt understand what was going on. As they shot at the boy without question, the bullets had been emptied into the wall behind Goku. Within moments the remains of the building began to crumble down from the sudden force.

Before the stone and concrete of the buildings had touched the ground, Goku had landed his heel directly into the cheek of the middle gang member. Crouching down low, bent at his hips and his body shifted forward, Goku looked up with a sly grin. It was just then when he grinned that the rubble had came into contact with the ground.

Immediately the other half dozen of remaining gang members surrounded Goku and held their automatic weapons at gun point, poised and ready to attack the boy. Meanwhile the member who Goku had kicked was on the ground trembling as if he was in the middle of a seizure beyond his control. The thin blew sliver at the bottom of Gokus eyes sparkled under the high noon sunlight.

"Power Pole.. extend!"

Goku shouted as he commanded his power pole. His hand clenched tightly around the hilt of the power pole, relieving it from its cloth sheath. Whirling the power pole around his head, the mystic pole had shone with a mysterious red glow. Not even half a second had passed and the pole came in contact with every gang members face. Instantly they all fell back, out cold.

"Okay! Now thats done, I need to figure out what to do."

Goku said under his voice while he clapped his hands together. Folding his arms over his chest, he glanced all around himself. Looking left to right all he saw was rubble. A few house tops were tipped partially over, and some homes look like they were about to break off in two. Just then Goku had an idea, the shapes of the roofs were similar to that of a giant bowl.

"Aha! if I can use that like a giant doggy bowl!"

Goku exclaimed with hope in his voice, his right index finger was pointed directly at the tallest building remaining. which also seemed to be the one in best shape.

Running across the middle of the desert, Goku held above his head, the roof of the building. There was nothing left of the town, except for the remaining gang members. The people who once lived there had either fell victim to the gang war, or had all evacuated. Running around by foot was getting Goku nowhere, he didnt want to go back on the advice he was given, however he had no other means but to fly.

"This is important right?"

Goku asked to himself, no one would respond with him in the middle of nowhere and airborne of all places. Once in the air, he squinted his eyes, noticing a long thin haze that stretched horizontally across the distance. Speeding up by putting more energy into his flight, Goku saw more of the image. As it came into focus, Goku could see the sparkle of water. Flying as fast as he could without causing damage to his over-sized doggy bowl.

"Ahh yeeeaah! This is perfect!"

Goku shouted ecstatically as he touched down on the roaming island. There was enough water for an entire village, Goku then dipped the house top into the water and filled it up, getting himself drenched in the process. In the air he had flown carefully back to the old womans home. As he hovered in mid air, he balanced himself and held the house top with one hand, while his other hand extended out, creating a beam ball, he created a small crater. The woman rushed out to see Goku come down and set the container in the crater, making a perfect fit.

"Boy.. you are something else!"

The old woman, exclaimed with a hint of laughter. Even though she suspected Goku to succeed this was something completely different than she had expected.

"Thats enough water, but you still need food. Be back in a bit."

Goku said briefly before he took off. It didnt take Goku long to return, and when he did, he held two huge prehistoric birds by the neck. He then dropped them down from mid-air.

"Okay.. that should be enough. It was nice seeing you, but I need to get back to my master!"

It took Goku a good few hours to return to Master Roshis island. The young boy hybrid was beginning to grow tired from the days events, which in turn caused his flying speed to drop heavily.

"Why does Master Roshi have to live so far away?"

Goku asked himself wearily as he floated over the clear blue sea. He looked down to the water and saw an image of himself reflected right back at him. He smiled to himself. Goku did enjoy spending time near the sea. There was something about it that he really found exhilarating.

Goku slowly began to lower himself so that he was only about three feet from the water. He let his arm fall into the cool blue liquid. The coolness of the water was a nice contrast to the afternoons heat. Goku then plunged both hands into the water, scooped up a handful and threw it over his face. Shaking off the excess, Goku felt revitalized.

"Thats much better!"

Goku exclaimed, feeling some of his energy returning to him.

Finally arriving at the old hermits island, Goku landed on the small snady beach and ran up to the door. Knocking loudly on it three times, he waited for Roshi to appear. Sure enough, the old man opened the door and smiled down at the youngster.

"Goku! Youre back!"

"I sure am!"

Goku beamed back at the crane hermit. Roshi, having invited Goku inside, proceeded to ask,

"So, how did your trip go? Did you manage to get her the water she needed?"

Goku nodded enthusiastically and went on to tell Roshi about his first and certainly not last tribulations. Roshi listened intently, picking up every little detail the young boy told him. When Goku was finished, the hermit nodded wisely.

"Well Goku, you’ve certainly done yourself proud. Thats an achievement that even your great grandfather would have been proud of."
