Well, if wielding a sword is fun for someone, shouldn't you just let them? Just don't fight sword users or agree not to use swords. *shrugs*

No, read the thread again. This is being expressed by everyone. We dont want EVERYONE to wield swords in this rpg, but it is happening. We want variety and something for non sword users. You seem to want everyone to be a sword user for some odd reason. Go play Naruto!!! I don't see how this stops anyone from using a sword either.

Pan, I've realized something.

You're a supporter of a lot of things on this site, as long as you agree with those things and don't really pay attention to what other people are saying.

"IT is overpowered" - Just about anyone

"Well we paid money so we deserve it" - Pan

"Too many people use swords"

"Well maybe swords are more funnerer!" - Pan

You agree with everything you're a part of and disagree with everything you aren't. How about read through the thread one more time, try to imagine a DBZ universe where a very select few do NOT wield swords, and think a little harder before you post again.

Look, this has already gone on before. This same exact argument happened last year. I've already pointed out what can be done to make swords less uber, which is out of favor for me, yes?

Yes, a lot of people use swords. But that's just how things go. Indeed, the million zenni question is how to make people want to not use swords. However, think on this: You have to get close to use a sword. And while using a sword (especially a two hander) you can't use any ki techs realistically, right? There are some downsides to having a two-handed sword, which is what I have. If I want to physically attack someone or throw a ki blast the sword has to be put away. And what if they are far away from me, but there's no way I can speed towards them to attack them with my sword before getting slammed with ki? Well then I'm just fucked unless I put my precious sword away.

The only thing is that you are not doing that. You jump from quick attacks, to sword benifits, and then shoot a double big bang attack without any cons. So please, enlighten us again with the cons? Right now, there is NO cons for wielding a sword. There is only really BIG PROS and that is why everyone is wielding a sword.

Get out of the thread Pan if you have nothing good or supportive to say on the issue. All you have done is nothing in this thread but sling your ego around. I am not bashing you any, so don't go kill yourself with leeches or something...

BUT...

This thread is a way to help out the situation. Not you coming in saying "WELL i like swords and i'll fight anyone if they challenge me. OH i don't feel like fighting so...oh well. Swords are fun, YAY!!"

Be constructive or critical with the topic in a manner pertaining to the topic. Don't spam it with personal opinions on bullshit.

Okay, for the last time....

I'll even put it in big text this time. Maybe then you'll read it a bit slower.

This is NOT a debate about the effectiveness or "over-poweredness" of swords.

For the last time, we're looking for ways to make swords less appealing. IF you really wanna get technical, sure, they aren't the absolute trump card in a battle, but there certainly are pros that outweigh then cons.

And don't come back saying "but but but swords don't win battles!!!"

We know that, believe it or not.

Again, picture every Z Warrior running around with a blade and every villain running around with a blade. Looks like ninja warrior brawl 5000 and/or a medieval battle.

NOW keep in mind that if you use a level 1-4 sword tech that it will ALSO limit the use of punch techs. They will work side in side with eachother so it doesn’t limit members to JUST swords or just physical techs.

Level 1:

Expertise: Same as Weapon Expertise. They run the same.

Earth Slash: The user throws his hand forward as if to punch. It then sends a direct line of Ki force towards the opponent leaving a trench in the ground from where it soared over at such high speed and power.

Crazy Fist: The user for 1 action throws a multitude of punches with one arm. (4 Quick Attacks)

Wave Fist: An invisible force thrown from the users fist that will knock the opponent off balance. (Possibly Stun/Double Speed for this Attack)

Iron Fist: The users arms gathers energy from the area causing him to block without taking any damage at all for 3 attacks against him.

Level 2:

Chakra: The user gathers places his hands in the formation of an O in front of him gathering Ki that replenishes health by 20%.

Reflex: Allows the User to strike out at the opponent before the opponent hits him with any type of physical attack rendering the attack not happening and causing damage by the according Quick or Special Attack.

Cursing Punch: The user quickly builds an aura of red around his fist and hits the opponent causing no damage, but takes away all bonuses for 3 actions.

Level 3:

Secret Fist: The user punches the opponent in the chest quickly just once. This causes the opponents health to fall by 15% every post for 3 posts.

Blessing Punch: The user performs an open handed punch at a fucdamental Ki attack or an uncharged ki attack capturing the energy as he closes his fist. The next punch that he performs will be equal to that destructive force causing an explosion accordingly.

Here's some I have done. Tell me what you guys think.

Fine, I'll summarize with the ideas I've thought of and the ones I've actually already posted

1) Weapons actually take up two prepared slots even if it is equipped on your character.
2) Force a character to need a certain amount of strength before they can do certain techniques on top of having to self-train and learn for a week or two.
3) When a bare-fisted opponent goes up against a sword user, give the bare-fisted opponent something like 2 extra quick attacks, a stat boost, or something to that effect.
4) Limit the number of sword attacks that can be used in a single battle (even more than it is now with the 2/2, etc.,)
5) Give unarmed opponents a move called 'Disarm' that has a rate of success based on their toughness and speed.

Now, doesn't it feel better to conform to progress other than trying to stall it?

How is it progress? People are getting so bent out of shape over swords. I bet there was less whining when the gun replaced the bow and arrow.

Anyways, feel free to dissect my proposals.

1) Good point and is brought up.

2) If that is thrown in then they should do that with ALL techs.

3) Good point and thanks for bringing that up, but it may be a complicated issue to implement.

4) No sense in that because they are already very low.

5) Already a function, but like Appule said earlier players just ignore that according to him.

OH and you are whining the most.

Yeah, I wish that was possible.

It is possible. Unless someone has a special or more powerful sword, you can easily break them. Look at what Super 13 did to Trunks' sword. Smashed it over his forearm like it was a twig if I remember correctly.

So...if you break the sword then would it be gone form their inventory?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, battles are dangerous places.

It's going to be a lot more difficult to break better swords though. Something like a Steel Sword or a Capsule Corp sword probably wouldn't be too hard to snap. It is also dependent on the strength difference between the fighters. It will probably be up to your battle ref.

Well that is BA, but looking at the top ten-20...where I am going to be competing soon. They all have level 3-4 special/saga swords. If I am in my right mind...I would also get a sword as well.

My point isn't to restrict or cause invisible walls, but maybe a benifit for non sword users or something to deter everyone from turning into a ninja.

Like the benifits and disadvantages for good and evil, there is some things that scare or attract players. For swords however, it seems like a big plus with no cons except the idea that someone can break it.

I already pointed out how to give an even fighting ground for non-sword users vs sword users, Appule. What more do you want?

By the way, there is the ACTION disarm, but not a special move to be learned that could be learned like a sword tech, by partner training or self-training. Disarm the move would be dependent on stats, rather than a ref's ruling. Which would prevent any outcries of 'unfair'.
