“Reed, send Dende inside,” spoke Guru in his usual slow voice, sitting on his throne with the Dragonball on top of the throne.

Reed went outside and spoke to Dende, “Dende, Guru has called you inside.”

Without a word Dende went inside with Reed following him.

“Ah! Dende! You must have been training as usual. I have called you to increase your training to the maximum,” Guru told Dende.

“I will do as you wish Guru. I will start my training now itself,” saying so Dende prepared to take flight.

Guru calmly said, “Not in that way Dende. I wish that you fight five of the Nameks I have enlisted.”

Startled by Guru’s sudden statement Dende listened attentively to what he had to say. After Guru finished he spoke, “Am I strong enough to fight because it has been just a week of training.”

“Yes I know that but still I believe in you. A small fine dagger can also bring a downfall better than a rusty sword. These Nameks’ may be stronger than you, may be faster than you, maybe tough than you or they may be more clever than you. But they all have their weak points. You must find their weakness,” explained Guru.

Even though Dende had not exactly understood what Guru’s words about a dagger were but he was ready to do the job. “I am ready Guru,” replied Dende with a low bow.

“Here take this. It will help you find your opponents,” said Guru handing over a small stone in a kite shape.

Dende was going to ask how it worked but Guru was faster saying that he was supposed to find it out by himself.

After giving Guru another of his bows he flew straight out and started off towards the north direction.

While flying Dende curiously looked at the shining blue stone, “I wonder how it works,” he thought.

Suddenly the stone in his hand glowed red and flew itself towards his right. “So that’s how it works,” thought Dende soaring towards the stone.

As they were going the stone was picking up high speeds. After a few minutes it hung in the air above a Namek.

“Finally Dende, Guru said you would be here. I am Chord,” he said holding another red stone which was wriggling in his hands. Clearly that stone was struggling to go towards the other stone but before it could do something it was crumbled by Chord.

“So, er I have to fight you. Shall we begin?” asked Dende.

“Come on. It’s up to you to make the first move,” Chord replied with a grin.

Immediately Dende flew through the air towards Chord and aimed a hammer blow at him. The next thing he remembered was that his hand had been stopped and he was sent flying in the opposite direction.

“He’s pretty strong,” thought Dende.

He moved again and sent a power punch, sweep kick and another hammer blow but they did not seem to have any effect. Chord had blocked all his attacks with ease. And then a fist connected to his lower jaw and he was flung towards the small plateau. At the last moment Dende managed to balance himself from getting hurt.

This time Dende was sure that he would hit. He speed teleported behind Chord and aimed a volley of punches. Dende then flew straight over Chord and while Chord turned around to find Dende, Dende elongated his arms and caught him. Dende then lifted him in air and flung him to the nearby cliff with such a force that Chord was forced to admit his loss.

“Easy lad, here take it,” said Chord handing over another stone looking exactly like the one with Dende. The same kite shape.

“Another one? Whatever do I have to do with it? I already have one!” replied Dende, a little amazed.

“Ha Ha Ha! Do you really think that stone would help you find your way to another challenge?” asked Chord with a grin.

“Urm! I do not understand,” replied a confused Dende.

“Let me explain. That stone that you have will lead to me and only me. This one will lead to only and only your next challenge. Got it and know be off quickly or you will lose it,” explained Chord after seeing that the stone turned blue and sped towards the south-east.

“Thank you, Chord. See you later,” said Dende flying quickly after the stone.

“So. His weakness was speed. Maybe that’s what Guru wanted me to see. Find the weakness of your enemy and clutch it all right,” thought Dende.

The stone made a downward spiral with Dende on its tail. It led to a thin but tall. This Namek did not give any kind of warning and jumped right at Dende and knocked him down.

“Owww! Not fair. An attack before an introduction,” grumbled Dende.

“Kid. Your enemy won’t wait for an INTRO!” said the Namek leaping at him again.

Dende was ready this time. He blocked the attack. But the attack was too strong. Dende was sent ramming into the cliff. He speed teleported and attacked. His attack was blocked and another sent at him. Dende dodged it and aimed again. They were evenly matched in speed though the other Namek was more strong.

Dende started to play a cat and mouse game but his speed wasn’t too good. The other Namek caught him easily and he was knocked sideways. But he was sure he heard a fast breathing. That was the key after all.

Dende again started to fly here and there. This Namek was tired a little.

“Try and catch me if you can,” taunted Dende.

He flew after Dende. Dende dodged him beautifully but somehow the Namek got hold of him and hit him with such a force that Dende lied on the ground a good five seconds.

Dende seeing that the Namek was too tired he speed teleported behind and launched a punch after a punch and a kick after a kick. His every attack was blocked but Dende did not lose hope.

Finally, one his attack made effect. And the consequences were one-sided next. Lack of stamina and huge amount of damage dealt led him to fall down.

“Finally!” Dende heaved a sigh of relief.

The Namek managed to stand up and threw a new stone and said “Piano here! Anytime.”

The stone turned into pink and then violet and then pink and so on. It kept changing every second. Wondering, Dende raced with it.

Pretty soon, he reached a little island. Two little Nameks stood there watching at him and waving.

“Ahoy! Over here! We are your targets,” said one of them with a big grin.

From a distance Dende called, “Would you mind if I ask your names?”

“Obviously not! I am Guitar and this is Violin, my brother,” said the other one.

“Whom do I take at first?” asked Dende.

“How can you ask that? You take both of us at the same time,” said Violin.

“Now, I do not want to be rude but did Guru seriously give you those runes?” asked Dende.

“Hey big chap, he really did. And stop asking questions now. It’s our turn. Did Guru really send YOU!!” Guitar burst out. He jumped at Violin’s hands and just like a spring Violin’s hands sent Guitar at Dende without a warning.

Guitar and Violin worked in harmony beautifully. They were will synchronised with each other. Using each other's support they were able to deal one after another blow to Dende’s hopes.

The two little Nameks were not very strong but it was a two on one battle. Blocking was not an option for Dende as Guitar and Violin were quite fast and to say it again they were two.

A counterattack seemed an even possibility. The next attack came from Violin. Dende made a grab at it at as it retreated and he missed. He tried it again at Guitar with success. He had clutched Guitar’s hand and threw him with all his force at Violin. Both of them struck the ground and Dende used his Mystic attack and grabbed them by their necks. Next he threw them away from each other and sped towards Guitar.

Alone they were easy to beat. Guitar hit him. Dende blocked and sent Guitar rattling in the water. Quickly responding to another threat he speed teleported and with a crash Violin landed on ground.

“Are you both intending to accept defeat?” asked Dende.

“Yeah all right big buddy,” said the brothers.

“Here follow this one,” said Guitar throwing off a green stone and pushing Dende towards it.

“All right then. And I apologize for my recent behaviour,” said a speeding Dende. He couldn’t wait to hear their replies.

“Four down, one to go. This one must be the strongest of them all. I must build up a strategy. I shall go for a surprise attack. But if he sees the stone he will know. But I know the direction in which it is going. Yes I must destroy it and go underwater. That would be best,” thought Dende.

Dende grabbed the stone and crushed it. He dived underwater and swam carefully and quietly.

Dende did not know that his plan would work out perfectly. He went straight and reached an island. Slowly he took shelter at the plateau. He peeked carefully and saw the back of a Namek.

Not losing a moment he speed teleported behind the Namek and sent a hammer blow. The surprised Namek had no chance. A sweep kick was followed. Before the Namek could realise Dende jumped in water. A splash of Dende coming out and the Namek turned but Dende speed teleported again and rocked him with power punch.

The Namek was knocked down. But he regained his posture quickly and started his own attacks. He sent a punch at Dende which was dodged. The next punch was blocked. And the hammer blow hit Dende. Mourning over the hit Dende jumped in the water. The Namek took the chase. He too was in water. Dende was waiting for the Namek to come near. He eased his arms and let them flow. They were soon pretty long. Next thing the other Namek knew was that Dende had spun violently giving rise to a mini-cyclone. The Namek was thrown out and Dende’s arms grabbed him as Dende came hurtling from the water in full speed and hit the Namek with his head.

The Namek was about to fall but Dende grabbed him and crashed at a nearby cliff with the Namek on his front so as to take minimal damage. It worked and the Namek was out of the race.

The Namek was grinning even though he was quite hurt.

“You deserve this,” he said handing another rune; “Take this to Guru. No talking now. Go quickly.”

Dende took the hint and sped off without another word. He had finally achieved another of Guru’s tasks. He was waiting eagerly for what Guru was going to say. He sped off with these happy thoughts.
