Episode 1 - New Beginnings

Morning, or what Namekians would call “morning” had soon come over the plains, and the 1st sun shone inside of the cave where he first stood. His stomach hurt... a sign that he hasn’t drunk anything in a while. He would go to the spring but the thought of seeing father… it was extremely scary to him.

He had already packed the night before. All of his things were wrapped up neatly, and away from his always curious brothers. He knew them seeing it would make this journey, already one that seems like it would take forever, even longer with goodbyes.

He knew he would see them again, and Kizu…he personally gave his word that they would be safe from harm. No one he knew was stronger than Kizu, not those pirates, not other Namekians…no one.

For him to be watching…for him to even recognize his existence reminded him about his past a little more.

Inside of Jaurenlo’s Past

The day casts heavy on the child, as he walks towards the Elders house. He was told by another that he was due for an appointment. This isn’t normal…isn’t normal at all, as he has never seen any of his younger peers ever go in alone for a meeting.

He walked into the hut. For a child, it seems really huge.

I wonder why big brother (also known as an Elder) wants me here…

“Jaurenlo…You have arrived. I am glad you made it”

Jaurenlo simply looked at him silently. The world as he knew it was only this village. It was only these Namekians. He knew of father, but never had seen him before. Big brother was all he knew. Why did he call on him? It felt like his mind was going a mile a minute.

“You look confused. Let me alleviate that for you. You have been called to my chambers because we feel that you have the capability to be the same level as Kizu. He was just like you when he was young.”

Kizu…he is the strongest of us all…and is known to beat back any who try to ruin this planet. It is amazing they think I could handle this. Why me?

“You will begin when you are ready. Only you can know when that time is. Until that point, you will be under my care personally. You won’t be doing anything strenuous, you will be learning. Considering your adventuring over with for now, for now, your mental training begins.”

Back To the Present

He has begun this journey. One that will take him to Guru’s place by foot, he has been required to walk every inch between fathers house and here to test his diligence. It will be a long journey, however one that will prove to be worth the trip.

Episode 2: Gateway

He had been away from the cave now, for what must have been a full day. The heaviness of his heart must have been looming. Honestly, he loved his little brothers. Why did he have to leave them for this journey? He would have been happy being normal. It seems like normal just wasn’t in the cards for him.

In what seemed like a few hours, he finally reached a spring to where he could gather some water. It was a good time to rest anyway. It was required that this walk be solemn, and long. Kizu made this walk.

I need to get some water. I haven’t had anything to sustain me in a while.

He sat down in front of it and looked into his reflection. He hasn’t seen himself in a while. On Namek, the only time a Namekian had a chance to see his own reflection, happened to be when he got a chance to look into the water in front of him.
The water seemed to teem with activity, but it wasn’t that, it was his nervousness. The reflection seemed to make him reflect about his lessons from the Elder.

In the Past

“You will have your chance at combat training. That will begin once the training here has been completed. However, you won’t get there unless you have had time to steady your mind. The majority of combat is mental Jaurenlo”

Mental… got it.

In these sessions, it was rare to hear Jaurenlo speak. He simply just wasn’t the type of person to be loquacious. He found his stoic nature comforting. His body language said more than he ever needed to speak.

“You seem to understand. Good. You should go back into your reading. You need to be fluent in almost every language that we know. You need to be prepared for the pilgrimage.”

What Pilgrimage could he mean… I don’t really want to leave the village…

“What?...”

A bewildered look could be seen on the young child’s face.

“Well Jaurenlo, all those who wish to be a planet protector need to go out into the universe, and see the worlds around him. It is called the Sej-ai-kalm. Those who wish to be guardian need to take it, it is the reason not only for their immense strength, but their wisdom.”

“Sej-ai-kalm…”

“Correct. However, to even be able to go on this trip, one needs to be of stout body and most importantly, a ready mind. You relax here and read. You still have a far ways to go until you are ready to even ready to prepare for that journey.”

Back to the Present

Sipping the water simply felt good to Jaurenlo. It had been a long day. There were more like this to come. The journey to begin Sej-ai-kalm is longer than the journey itself; however, this isn’t done simply because one is called. It is done because there is a need. He must push forward; there is much ground to cover.

Episode 3: First Encounter

After the last few days, it would seem that Jaurenlo has spent more time reflecting than focusing on the trip he had to make. It seems to make sense though. One has to remember that Namek can be a lonely place, as its population is quite sparse. Unlike a more populated planet, like Earth, where you can run into people once every few minutes, it could be days before you seen another person of your kind.
Amazing, he hasn’t known anyone besides his little brothers and those from the village of his birth. He already was someone who was pretty quiet, and these experiences made him even less talkative. He told his little brothers about the world around them, as they couldn’t have been more than babies when they were orphans, but besides that, he pretty much kept quiet about the world.

Perhaps that is one of the reasons why Kizu told him that he was required to walk to father’s house. It wasn’t something that was usually required, hell, he had heard of Namekians flying anytime they wished to go see him, however, he knew he was a special case.

If he was going to be in line to take Sej-ai-kalm, he had to know the lay of the land. He was required to speak to at least 3 big brothers, and they were to test him of his skill and progress. They were going to report back to Kizu, who would be at the final waypoint, a day when someone else was filling in, to test him fully.

He didn’t know what to expect. The only person that he knew that took this journey was Kizu, and he was just as quiet as he was. Perhaps he felt that part of the journey was the suspense.

He ended up right in front of the village. Apparently, someone had been there, waiting to greet him.

“Are you Jaurenlo”

He nods.

“We have been expecting you. Big Brother is right in there”

He points towards a big hall, and Jaurenlo proceeds to walk forward. He walks inside, only to see one other Namekian, obviously the big brother of this village.

“Welcome…”

Episode 4: The First Trial

“Welcome…”

Jaurenlo simply looked at this big brother. He was confused at just what could be happening here. There were trials, and he was told that they would make him stronger. He didn’t know what to expect, as he was told they could be anything, from a history lesson, to controlling ones ki, or a full out battle. The last one made him the most nervous, because although he had been training on his own, he never has been in a real battle.

“ Kizu said you would be here today”

Am I being watched…

“ Good, we can begin the first trial.”

The big brother just sat there, Indian style, and looked at Jaurenlo. It was obvious that everything turned serious. The other Namekian left the room quietly, so much so that Jaurenlo didn’t even notice. The Big Brother then told him to sit across from him. Jaurenlo noticed that there seemed to be a circle, a circle he never saw before in his short life. The young Namekian simply nodded, and sat looking at his big brother.

Suddenly, there was a spark, and Jaurenlo noticed the big brother close his eyes. Electricity jolted from his antennae. Sweat seemed to jostle down his brow.
All of a sudden the room around him seemed to spin, and the world around him started to dissipate. It seemed like everything started to mesh. The colors started to change, the items around him started to disappear. It seemed like everything was going away.

What’s going on here? Is this the trial? I thought this was going to be way more simple, and now everything is changing. Just what is about to happen…

Episode 5: Dark Forces

Next thing Jaurenlo knew, he was in a field. He didn’t see anyone for miles.

Is this the trial…what am I supposed to do…

“Jaurenlo… You wish to take the trial. There is no shame of backing out.”

Just how serious is this…

“Allow me to give you a tutorial. I am this planet’s guardian; known as the Nameless Namek to some, but if you are to finish this trial, you as well as the few who have finished this will be able to call on my knowledge at any time.”

Jaurenlo nods.

“These trials that you are about to pursue will give you the chance to test your mind, body, and spirit. However, they are dangerous, and have the ability to permanently damage each one. So consider this proposition fully. I cannot interfere, and if you find yourself in the grips of death, I cannot save you."

Jaurenlo nods once again.

“Good. You seem strong. Let’s begin. Sit once again.”

Jaurenlo has a seat.

“You will be fighting with your mind. These questions will appear. You simply need to think of an answer. There will be terrible truths that can engulf you. You need to be able to work through these while maintaining your soul. Once you are one, you will be able to walk out of this world, with the coordinates to the next trial in your head.”

Within a few seconds, the world became dark. Millions of voices, or what seemed like millions of voices, seemed to swarm upon his mind. Questions about history, warfare, death and dishonor began to hit him like a freight train. It was unlike anything he had ever felt before.

This wasn’t pain. It was something far more different. However, it was the only way he could describe it. He slowly began to take the advice of the voice. The feeling began to dissipate, as he began to mentally answer these questions. He felt something else taking hold, as he began to fight it. This had to be the evil that was discussed.

This wasn’t over yet…He had to remember his training.

Episode 6: Transference.

Inside Jaurenlo’s Past

“ Remember this…forgetting it can be your doom”

Jaurenlo sits down, looking at his Big Brother.

“The world around you is ultimately simple. Things boil down to energy, whether they be tall or short, big or small.”

Jaurenlo nods.

“Well, these energies are either innately evil or good. Like most stories you have read, good defeats evil and evil defeats good. However, they can only be rebuffed by their own.”

Huh?

“What I mean is, if you find yourself being consumed by either one…then you need to channel your own evil to stop it. You may find this trial on your path, and it is one of the ways to get rid of the evil within you, and start you on the path to enlightenment.”

How would it do that.

“ They consume each other, returning the unused energy to its prior state. However, as you know…Energy doesn’t disappear. It may return to you, it may not; however, you will be cleansed. It is a relatively new technique…we used to have to separate ourselves. Remember though, as this is a new technique, we cannot be too sure of the reprocussions. The short term seems positive, however, you will experience some power loss for a while."

Jaurenlo nods once again.

“Be weary. It is now time to practice this. Find one of your brothers and bring him back here…"

Jaurenlo proceeds to go deep into the village and look around for any of his brothers to use. He wasn’t given any criteria, and he was confused. Who would listen to a child, and follow him back to the elder without any notice. Would they think of it as a joke, or would they follow blindly. Soon enough, Jaurenlo was going to get to know.

Episode 7: Persistence

Jaurenlo began by jumping above the village and circling around it. He figured he would need to do this quickly. He didn’t want to keep his big brother waiting.

Where to now…

Most Namekians would be on the field so he decided to go there. It would also be where the strongest of his brothers would be.

Time to go…

He flies to the fields, with the anticipation of just what one of his brothers would say. It is something that interested him. He puts himself in their position. Would he follow what he wants? Would he ignore a child? All these things flowed in his head as he made his way to the fields, where the warriors worked and prepared their skills.

Here we are…

He lands in front of the fields, and just as he expected, he sees some sparring going on amongst the crowds of the men farming. One of the secrets of the Namekians, what people didn’t understand, was the fact that the farming was also a school of martial arts. It taught the patience that was required of a fighter, as well as utter stick-to-it-iveness that it takes to be successful. Not just that, spars would take place during the time most other races would be eating food. Their lunch time wasn’t a break, it was time to test what they have learned.

Jaurenlo talks to the first few men he sees, with no avail. It seems like no one would listen to a kid when they could be actively training. Considering what did happen in the future, this would have been wise. However, 2 warriors step up to the young Jaurenlo.

“Excuse me, I need to find a warrior. Big Brother has asked me to ask for one to follow me back to his hut. So if you are not too busy, follow me”

“Sure little brother. This shouldn’t take too much time. I will go with you, and once I am done, return here to finish todays work.”

Jaurenlo nods, and flies back to his big brothers house…

Episode 8: Flow

The flight back to Big Brothers house was anything but talkative. Jaurenlo simply answered the Namek’s questions about why he was traveling, at least to the best of his ability. He knew a warrior felt no better joy than sitting in his field, training with his brothers, and the toll it took on his body. It would make him feel stronger.

With those questions asked and answered, the flight was soon over. They landed, and their big brother was there to meet them as soon as they arrived.
“Rethu... Welcome to the hut. Jaurenlo called you back here to help with his training”

Rethu simply nods. It was obvious the devotion and the sincerity he had for his big brother was unwavering. This was proven true, as Rethu happened to be the first to die, defending the house of his big brother.

“Come inside, we need you and your energy to teach him an important lesson, especially if he hopes to do what me and the other elders expect him to do.”
Rethu nods and walks inside with Jaurenlo under his arm. They soon enter the circle where Jaurenlo once stood .

“Rethu…power up”

Rethu’s energy shoots up, as an aura over takes him. After about 30 seconds, he notices the colors start to change.

“This won’t be the same as your trial, as the stakes will be much higher. However, it will be enough to show you the concept. “

A dark showing of energy is starting to cover him; however it stops at his feet. Rethu closes his eyes, and the energy starts to melt from him. It was obvious, his soul was purely good. The energy simply turned into a mist, and dissipated into the air.

“Rethu, you may go back now. I thank you for your service.”

And with that, Rethu went away, back to the fields he loved so much.

“Jaurenlo, listen to me, and do so carefully. Your energy is not the same as Rethu. You will have plenty of experiences that change it for you. The dark energy either become a part of you, is nullified, or ends up somewhere in the middle. It is up to your spirit, not your mind or your heart, what happens. This trial is the first for a reason, as it has the ability to change the very fighter it consumes. Remember, the protector isn’t necessarily pure, but one of a good sound mind, and knows how to do the right thing. Learn that lesson, and you will be the next one.”

Back to the Present

Jaurenlo stands with the ki overcoming him. It’s now time to see what he is made of.

Episode 9: Reverb

So there he was -Jaurenlo. The so called special namek who was told since he was born that he had a special gift. He was being consumed by ki…and not just any kind, it was the kind that couldn’t be quantified with a power level. It was slowly crawling up his being… and ever so gently, he felt it was eating away at him.
He relaxes, and once again, focuses on his training. Slowly, the ki begins to melt away. The focus obviously had an effect, as from the outside looking in, it looked like the two kis were evenly matached.

What did this mean…what could it mean?I can’t be evil, can I. I spent most of my life helping those who could not help themselves. Was it his want to take something…the urge to become better than Kizu that was pushing him?

Perhaps it was the revenge of his village. He never told anyone else, but he had been, since that cold and dark day, waiting for his revenge for whoever was responsible. The darkness and death had an effect on him, and allowing him to not know much more than he did, in terms of love, the hate still manifested itself there.
Soon, however, the ki started bubbling down….and he felt a stinging sensation.

“HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA”.

This couldn’t have been normal…could it? The pain he felt was almost unbearable. What took minutes seemed like hours. Each passing moment he felt more pain, sometimes dull, sometimes stinging, always there. Soon the power within explodes outward. And what seemed like hours of pain stopped.

“Congratulations. This trial is over. Proceed with your Journey.”

What…Just…Happened.

Episode 10: Return

There he was, back on the same plane he came from. What really just happened? There was no elder… and as a matter of fact, there wasn’t anything around him to speak of. The whole building he was in, had exploded.

What have I done!?!?!

The dust around him settles, and he looks around for what, if anything survived He then heard a series of claps form behind him.

“Congratulations”

Everyone from the village he entered, including the big brother, happened to be there. It was a great relief to him; apparently they were prepared for the explosion.

“Don’t worry about the building. It explodes with each trial. It is why I am glad the trials only happen once every 25 years. The important thing is that you survived. Many who give it a shot end up perishing.”

He relaxed…it was good to be amongst happy faces. He didn’t know how long he had been inside of the trial…inside of the world he had walked into.

“What happens if you would have failed…you must be thinking. Well, from what I was told, your soul would have forever remained in that world, lost. You need to fit a certain inner determination for the energy to escape oyu. Good or Evil, it doesn’t matter, just that you are inwardly strong..”

Jaurenlo simply has a seat, he is quite exhausted from this trial, and he knows he has long to go.

“How long was I in there”

“2 days. I have been told it feels like minutes there. Imagine how long a year would be inside that world…Well, with that over, you need something to drink.”

Jaurenlo looks up, he was quite famished…however, it was a job well done. He thought he could take a break from all of this, and maybe even do a little celebreating.

Episode 11: Youth

Namekians lived a usually relaxing existence. A child spent most of his time naturally going through his own natural motions, figuring out what exactly he wanted to do. Some became warriors. Some became healers. Some became scholars. It was up to the child to decide exactly what he wanted to do. This was different from most societies, as Saiyans forced their children into the warrior role, and humans more into the scholar role.

Jaurenlo however, he never got too much time to that. Maybe because of his birth, maybe because of his natural inclination, was bred into a mixture of all three roles. So instead of those who had a chance to relax, and find themselves naturally, he was almost forced to get into a character, and stick with it. From the age he could start to remember, he was a worker. His brothers around his age group spent most of their times in the fields, looking at just who was around and daydreams on how they would spend their adulthood.

Jaurenlo on the other hand, spent most of his time working on one of the three phases of study. In those three phases, he spent most of his time studying. His life was build around the trials. Only the smartest and most determined passed them. Most Namekians spent their lives not even being cognizant of what the trials were.

The reason Jaurenlo even reflected upon this was the celebration from the village that was held in his honor. Most of the children he saw seemed like they were wondering about. It was these times, especially these times, he felt alone. It reminded him that even though he had his little brothers that looked up to him, and even felt him as his protector, he was alone.

He sipped his flavored water. It was delicious. Even so, it was a sad day, simply a reminder of the youth he had once had…the one that was stolen from him

Episode 12: Breathe

It was morning. With the three suns on Namek, it was always weird to those who were not used to seeing the brightness to get used to the sleep schedule to those who were native inhabitants. Jaurenlo opened his eyes. He didn’t get too much sleep, as he noticed that he was the last to lay and the first to rise. It was time to continue his journey.

“Big Brother, I need to continue.”

“I understand. I will tell all those who were here, good luck.”

And with that, Jaurenlo began back on his trek. It was something different, to be here. With his experiences, he was almost an alien to his own people. Sure, he was treated well enough, the Namekians were a race of people who felt connected simply by the skin they were in. Everyone was a brother of theirs in one way or another. The destruction of the planet, the connection to father, and the relative low number of populace insured that.

He still felt alone. His village had been destroyed, and being around another village simply reminded him of that. He didn’t have a chance to have the same thing the others had. The pirates who destroyed his home insured the path he was on.
It was days he thought of Rethu… He was such a good warrior. He taught him, through his own actions, how to be a righteous identity. He even learned how to fight from him. It was an interesting…he knew he was simply a child, but Rethu…Rethu saw something in his eyes that the others didn’t. It was the same thing the elders saw.

Inside Jaurenlo’s Past

“Jaurenlo… I have seen you”

“Huh?”

“I have seen you watch me spar in the fields”

How did he see me…?

“It is alright…I don’t mind someone who gives me the respect of watching, learning, and trying to figure out what exactly I am made of before they go ahead and pursue me. This is why I am going to teach you how to fight.”

Episode 13: Give

“HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”

It was a simple punch to the chest that reminded how real this spar was. They have been going in for a couple of weeks now. Both Rethu and Jaurenlo knew that no one could know exactly what they were doing. Jaurenlo was not supposed be taught how to fight…in the slightest. It was actions such as this that could affect the trials, especially since he was to be taught by a mysterious namek in the art of self defense.

Rethu couldn’t resist however. It was just the earnest look in Jaurenlo’s eyes. He was someone who wanted to earn whatever he received. He was also someone who would keep a secret, and understood the term respect.

Jaurenlo buckled, and tried to recover his breath. Before he could however, he found himself careening into the ground. Rethu ax handled him in his back, sending him first class into the dirt he usually walked upon.

“You can’t ever relent. I noticed you forgot about me, and started to try to rectify yourself. If you don’t keep your opponent in your mind, then you cannot win. He will take advantage like I just did. He also won’t stop like I just did. He will continue with a rather powerful blast that will keep you continually on the defensive. And that Jaurenlo, isn’t somewhere where you want to be.”

I got to get stronger…

An aura surrounded him. He moved towards Rethu, and began his own assault. He knew hw couldn’t relent, and he had to use the same teachings that he was just taught. Even though he was weaker… Rethu began to reel like an opponent of the same power level as Jaurenlo.

It was those lessons that protected the little orphans from the incident from his village. It was those lessons that made him strong. It was the lessons such as this that would get him through his next trial, even though Jaurenlo didn’t know it at that time.

Back to the Present.

Jaurenlo made it to the next village, where the elder simply hit him in the back of the neck. Having the unexpected hit made Jaurenlo unconscious. Who knew what was next for the young namek!

Episode 14: Take

Jaurenlo woke up in a cold sweat.

Where am I? What just happened?

Jaurenlo knew nothing at this point. It was as if the world went dark. He didn’t even see where the hit came from.

Where am I?

When someone asks that question more than once…it is obvious they just got rocked. The world around him was of a different color. The speech even seemed dragged. He finally figured it out… he was in a trial.

“HAAAAAAAA”

That was…Rethu?!??!?!

Jaurenlo ended up staggered across the wall. He had been slammed against it. The wall felt reallt solid but loose all the same.

Rethu was dead. It couldn’t have been him!

A large energy blast came his way, and Jaurenlo simply rolled out of the way. It was his training that made sure he did so. Was the nameless namek testing him based on his old master? How did he know all of this in the first place? He didn’t have time to think about it…he simply powered up and began to rush towards his opponent.

He won’t be expecting a head on attack… he can’t be, it wasn’t his style.

With that Jaurenlo was right. He began to throw some of his training off guard. He was calculating, he knew his opponents and studied them carefully. If this was Rethu, or even a Rethu clone, he would be following his rules.

With that Jaurenlo began a one armed assault, slowly growing a ki blast behind his arm. He figured he could get his opponent off guard with his, because this technique was one he grew from defending the kids and training himself. Rethu, or his clone, broke the guard. This was expected from him. He was sent careening, and before he did, unleashed a ki blast towards him.

This will get him…

He saw a hand that was wrapped with ki slap it away!

This obviously was going to take his actual thought. This wasn’t a clone of Rethu…this was someone who studied him completely. This was a trial that was going to test his fighting prowess....

Episode 15: Strange

The fight seemed like it had been going on for hours. Time was slipping away from him. Every single strategy he had tried was going down in flames. It wasn’t that he was short on strategy, actually it was the opposite. It simply seemed like everything he tried, he knew. This was no ordinary fighter, it had to be someone who had watched him develop as a warrior.

The battle simply stopped, all of a sudden.

“Who are you?”

“I am the spirit of Namek. I simply manifested myself as someone you trust.”

“I realized that long ago”

“Well, you must also realize that these things are things you cannot beat, no matter how hard you battle. These are things that have read your thoughts, see each of your fights, knows your next move before you even make it.”
The apparition changed into a stilted stance.

“The Nameless Namek was correct about you however. You have a dogged determination. It will suit you well in the future.”

Jaurenlo simply nods…however, as he does that, the apparition hits in square in his chest, making him double over.

“No matter the result of these trials, or how you like them, they should be teaching you a valuable lesson. Until you figure it out, this will continue.”

The smack of wind opened up his chest. He tried to counter with his own move, and it was as worthless as the rest of the fight had been to this point.

I cannot fight him….maybe if I…

Jaurenlo puts his arm on him. This trial wasn’t about his fighting skills at all. It was about acceptance. Once he thought of those things. The form changed into him. There was a glow, and once again, the room flowed back into the elders’ hall…slowly.

Episode 16: Gate

With that light, a gate opened up. A voice appeared in the darkness.
Enter that gate, if you wish to do the third trial…

He recognized that voice. It was the Nameless Namek. He simply wondered what was in store for him. He avoided the rest of the room and jumped inside. He had no idea where this would lead. He had no idea what he would be doing. He had no idea why the gate appeared in the first place. However, it was the thrill of the unknown that made him jump inside the portal.

The world simply changed around him. It was completely different from anything he had ever seen. There was a small wind about him. It soon began to get cold…colder than the Namekian ever experienced. There was a small white fluffy substance that started to fall as well. What was it…?

“That’s called snow Jaurenlo”

He never felt this feeling before.

“My name is Neitsu. I am Guru’s great uncle. I was one who saved the race from absolute destruction. For that, the gods granted me a piece of Namek’s soul…and I have been watching the world ever since.”

That’s why his voice permeates.

“This is where you have to go next. This is planet Kanassa. Before the storm, we were allied and trading partners. After the storm, our planets became separated. No more contact happened between the planets for generations…however there is a secret.”

Interesting.

“All those who spend time on this planet will be granted Telepathy and Telekinesis. It is here where your journey will begin. It will be years before you see another Namek. Each planet shall rest a trial and new people to meet. As stated… the purpose of these trials is to find out if you are strong enough to become a protectorate of this planet…like me and Kizu before you.”

Does this mean…

“No, you are not done yet. You have to survive this last trial…

All of a sudden, dozens of Kanassians surrounded him. It was somewhat of a terrible experience, as he felt like his mind was going being torn asunder. Each possible thought was going 1000 different directions. He knew not where this led; however, he knew that it would be painful.

He felt all of his limbs separate from him… He screamed in pain, as he felt his body hit the ground. He knew he had to concentrate…now wasn’t the time to fall to the weakness of pain.

The snow felt so good against his quartered body. This actually helped him concentrate on regrowing the limbs.
“Rah”

The limbs came back out, and he stood up.

-* He has passed the Namekian test. He is full blooded; no other race would survive what just happened to you. Now, we continue this trial. -*

He felt like there were 1000 voices in his head, all culminating into one voice.
-* Now, proceed into the temple. There you will find the next part of this trial. Understand. There is no way out once you enter this temple, and the only outcome is death or success. Each trial you have had prior to this was mere fragments. Once you have done this you will be able to speak to Guru, and get going.*-
Jaurenlo had gone far. It seemed like this last month’s traveling had led to some pretty interesting adventures. There is no need to be afraid now. He wanted this to lead somewhere. He knew he was no normal Namekian. They wouldn’t have picked him for this if he was.

“I will proceed within this temple and conquer it like those who have done before me. If death is my recourse…then so be it”

With that the doors opened, and he knew his real adventure has just begun.
Little did he know that he had barely scratched the surface of this trip.

Episode 18: Ace

As he entered the temple, the door behind him closed. There was an ominous feeling he had never felt before. It wasn’t just that he was stuck here, it was that this really determined his fate. There was no backing out now, he had to be the ace he knew he could be.

“Stay on your toes. I will be rooting for you Jaurenlo”

That was Neitsu. Just what was in here?

He continued to march forward. He began to bounce across the platform in front of him, as suddenly, it all stopped. A puzzle infront of him simply appeared. The platform as ahead of him turned into several different lighted forms. These lighted platforms all of a sudden turned into images of different races. This looked familiar. Each race in the universe had a scrambled name ahead of it.

Jaurnelo chuckled. This had to test his mental capacity, and just what he learned as a child about the other races in the universe. His biggest problem was that he didn’t have a chance to interact with any of them. His biggest test was remembering what they looked like, syncing that with the pictures he saw as a child, and remembering the exact race that was ahead of him.

He went with the most obvious one. He had interacted with the Saiyans before and knocked that one out of the way. He remembered that Saiyans were of the same ilk as Humans, and they looked alike. Nameks quite obvious and they were next to him.

Kanassians and Yardiatians were the next one. It was easy to pick because Kanassians and Yardiatians looked alike to him. They were always weird and he remembered they knew some sort of legendary technique.

Changelings were next, and the last major race in the universe. Amazing, it was done. The door in front of him unlocked, and the pathway was clear once again.
This trial took him a good amount of time, and surprisingly, the mental strain was rather interesting. He didn’t want to know what was going to happen if he failed, however, the lava that was under him pretty much gave him a few ideas.
With that, he moved into the next room. It was time to find out just how far the rabbit hole he had to proceed to do get this thing going.

Episode 19: Gather

In the room in front of him, the atmosphere changed. The heat and brimstone of the room prior went away. It changed into a smaller more compact environment. There was a blue ring that surrounded the entire room. It gave it a more relaxed feel. He relaxed…and breathed in. Whatever the game in here, it wasn’t going to be as simple as walking through.

He sighs. He simply walks to the door in front of him and tries to open it. He is sent into the room behind him and slides almost falling into the lava. The door in front of him doesn’t close as he thought it would. It was funny though he believed it was over for him. He got up and moved inside of it and began to think. There was no time limit, and touching the door wasn’t going to do it.
What if I blast the door…

He thought about it, and charged a small blast to test his hypothesis. The ki blast was soon fired from his hands and then hit the door. It wasn’t a huge effect, and he noticed the room change color slightly.

Hmm… I drained myself doing such a thing. This wasn’t normal.

He simply changed himself again. The bottom of his shows seemed like there was a pull to them. He must have not been paying attention before. The ki was being dragged down by his feet. It was amazing just how he didn’t realize this before. The room around him began to change colors. What was once blue became bronze. What was bronze then became silver. After that, what was once silver became gold.

As soon as the room changed into gold, the room became hot like the room prior. The door in front of him popped open. It seemed like the room ahead of him had a vast distance between the walls. So much so he had yet to see the other end. Well… nothing beats the ole failure but the ole try.

Episode 20: Faith

He walks into the room and he feels the door behind him snap close. Like the rooms prior, this didn’t surprise him in the least. What did surprise him was the fact that the rooms vastness seemed to dissipate right in front of his eyes. What was left was a small room. There was barely enough room to stand.

He noticed that the room was getting smaller. This was obviously something that existed within a time limit. His other trials had just been trials of strength and preparation.

The room went dark so he decided to power up slightly to create a light with his ki. He was going to have to work something out fast if he was going to live. He first maximized his space by getting into his meditation position…

He couldn’t really notice, but the walls were slowing down. His lack of energy was starting to take effect. There was no way for him to rest to get his energy back. He closed his eyes and began to meditate on his current situation. It was what his previous mentors told him to do when time was short and maximum time was needed.

He began to go over all the situations in his head. If the first room was mental, and the second room was based on ki, this room could be based on his power. He cocked his fist back and hit the wall in front of him.

This didn’t work at all, as he didn’t notice the claw in front of him. It cut into his hand rather deeply. It looked like it would actually scar…

“AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”

He needed to find a way out of here. Physical wasn’t the answer. And if it wasn’t, what could it have been. His hand was pretty damaged from the incident he just experienced.

He began to focus once again. He had to have the faith to cap this one off, or else he was finished. He took his cut hand and felt the eagles talon and simply meditated on the situation around him. Within seconds, it seemed like a light came on and the door became open.

Victory aside…he had become terribly damaged from the last two rooms, in terms of his energy. He couldn’t go on much longer. He exited the room…

Episode 21: Basics

He exited the room, and looked at the person in front of him. It was Rethu .Was he in some sort of heaven? Was it some sort of trick again?

Either way, he remembered the environment he was in. It was the same one where his trials began. The same field that he had first heard Neitsu’s voice.

“Jaurenlo; you have been damaged. Your hand is trickling with blood.”

“Yes Rethu. I don’t know anymore. It feels like my trials may be over here. This will be leaving a scar if I ever manage to get out of here.”

“Well, I am proud of you. You have represented the village well getting here. Neitsu called me from the next dimension. He did so to get you through the next part. We have been watching from up above.”

Jaurenlo smiles

“And don’t worry about me. I get to train and work with a ton of fighters from other universes. There has been a lot I have learned since being up there. If you lead a life as the protector, know that life won’t end here. It will be up there amongst me and other warriors like me.”

“What is the next part?”

“Well the next part is one of combat. I need you to present me with 30 minutes of instruction. All the fighting styles and strategies you have been presented with. With my inspection, you will be able to get to the next part. I hate to ask this of you when you are obviously so drained, but it is necessary to see just how determined you are in making it to the next level, as a protectorate of our people.”

Jaurenlo closes his eyes. He had to do this. The first punch seemed to hurt. His fatigue had begun to set in. The lactic acid had begun to rotate within his muscles. He knew the longer he waited, the worse this is going to feel.

“Ha”

He began to get into his rotations. It becan to break through the muscles that he had been looking it. The pain became staggering, as he went through each little thing he has learned in his life. The only that kept him going was the knowledge that he may end up dead if he didn’t finish. He didn’t want to disspaoint all those who were watching. They can’t be left sad.

His aura became to surface in front of him. He was powering up to go through the last part, the ki based portion of his move set. This would be the most dangerous part, as the lack of energy from the 2nd room made him feel like his ki reserves were going fast.

“HA”

That was the last one…he powered down and fell down to one knee. The world infront of him became blurry. This wasn’t good. He didn’t know if he could end up going unconscious here. If he did, he might be trapped here forever, or he might die. His eye began to slip, and he felt the warm embrace of the land of the unconscious.

He fell to the second knee, and the figure infront of him went from one into two. This couldn’t be happening. With no help he was going to die here from loss of blood. There had to be a way to fight my way out of this.

Come on Jaurenlo…GET UP

With that thought…. He got up from the ground. This wasn’t going to be the end of him. His vision was another subject. It continued to be blurry. He began to take some serious breaths to get himself right.

“Jaurenlo, you have done well”

That was Neitsu.

“You are unwavering. Fear not. You may rest here.”

That’s all he needed to hear. He fell from his legs and went straight into the ground. Darkness overcame him, his fate had been left to this temple.

Episode 22: Finale

Jaurenlo slowly woke up. He was in Fathers place. He had no idea on how he got here. Was this where the trial ended? Was he teleported here?

“Jaurenlo…you’re awake”

It was Kizu. He had dropped some water by his bedside.

“Good. Don’t move. Congratulations. You have completed the first set of trials. You have earned this rest that you are getting.”

Jaurenlo slowly got his senses about him. What was going on?

“Father has been watching. You passed your trials with flying colors. Some of them you did so faster than I did.”

He places the water on Jaurenlo’s lips. He feels better already. It had been a very long month.

You shall rest here. Once that is complete, you will begin the pilgrimage. We are proud of you Jaurenlo. Simply sleep now. You will need to get a good few days rest before you start it.

A few days pass. He noticed that scar on his hand. It would do well to be a lasting reminder of this jouyrney as he gets older in life. He realizes that it took years for Kizu to complete his pilgrammage. He didn’t even get to train under Guru until a third of it was complete. There was tons of adventures for him to have. And there were a ton of problems for him to learn how to solve.

Father speaks…

“Jaurenlo, it is good to see that you have finished the trials and made it to the end of this journey alive. It takes a special soul to make it through, and I believe you will finish the rest of the pilgrimage with flying colors. It isn’t too much I can do for you right now, but when you return, you will be stronger than most of your bretheran.”

Jaurenlo Nods.

“The one whom I cannot name will lead you through the rest of this journey of yours. You are in good hands. For now, simply regain your strength and enjoy your brethren’s company. You won’t see us for a long time.”
He wondered how many battles will he get to see and what the universe had in store for Jaurenlo...
