Yajirobe groaned in his sleep, his thoughts plagued by the memories of his childhood.

“Do you have to read that at the dinner table?” Yajirobe’s mother asked, sighing towards Yajirobe’s father. Yajirobe’s father looked up at Yajirobe’s mother, a look of loathing in his eyes.

“Do you have to be such a whiney bitch?” He asked her, before continuing to read his paper.

“B-But, it’s just that... We’re here together... As a family...” She muttered. Yajirobe’s father sighed again, closing over the paper.

“You call this a family? I go out, work my arse off all day, just so you can sit at home and do fuck all like the lazy bitch you are!” He shouted across the table at her. Yajirobe simply ignored this – he was used to this kind of thing happening, but not usually at the dinner table. “Yajirobe, you can go out and play. You wouldn’t want to eat this shit anyway.” Yajirobe’s father told him.

Yajirobe quickly jumped out of his chair, and ran out of the front door, just as he heard a plate smash against the wall.

Yajirobe sighed, his eyes finally opening. He lay in the small bed that had been gifted to him by the Yaidratians, deep within one of their volcano-villages. It was a quiet enough place, and Yajirobe saw few travellers passing through the musky village. It was as if it was a world within itself – there was little contact with the surface, which itself was a barren wasteland, populated with creatures born of the smog excreted from the volcanoes, who assaulted passing life forms with a deathly resolve.

Yajirobe rolled over, a split-second before remembering that he only lay in a single bed. With a crash, he connected with the floor face first, and, groaning, he slowly lifted himself to his feet. Upon reaching his standing height, Yajirobe walked slowly over to his small table where his armour rested. Stretching his limbs out, he slowly reached for his clothing, before donning it quickly.

Smirking, he turned back to his bed. “Adios, sleepless nights!” He said happily, before raising his hand to his temple. Stretching out two of his fingers, he touched them with his exposed forehead.

You got this Yajirobe. He told himself, extending his senses, until he could feel the whole planet around him. He closed his eyes, and felt a gentle tug on his body, before cautiously opening his eyes.

“Fuck yeah!” Yajirobe yelled, as he caught a glimpse of his surroundings.

He stood in the control room of his Warship, which he had not visited for three weeks. He had left the warm confines of the Saiyan craft in search of a special technique – one rumoured to give the power of instantaneous transmission. He had searched for days before he found any information on this technique, and his searching led him to a small village, inside one of the larger volcanoes. There, he had found a collection of ancient scrolls, and, for the past three weeks, he had been sifting through them, before he had finally perfected the technique.

“Computer!” Yajirobe yelled, before a light popped into existence on the wall beside him.

“Yes?” The computer asked nonchalantly.

“Go fuck yourself.” Yajirobe told it, thoroughly happy in the thought that he would never have to use the vehicle again and also that he wouldn’t have to listen to the snide little remarks from the computer, mainly about his weight.

“I feel that I cannot achieve your previous order. Please deliver another order, or get the fuck off my ship.” The computer stated, and Yajirobe was taken aback. Never, since he had owned the ship, had the computer spoken to him like that.

Yajirobe smiled at the computer, before pulling back his arm, and punching the nearby console, destroying the circuitry, and causing the light of the computer to fade out of existence. “That’s better!” Yajirobe laughed, before turning back to the control room. “Well, it’s too quiet now.” Yajirobe sighed again, before walking over to his chair.

Sitting down, he gripped the arm rests, before a thought popped into his head. “Maybe...” Yajirobe muttered, before moving his right arm from the arm rest, and rested two fingers on his forehead. Aiming to return to Earth, he searched in the general direction, before releasing his built up ki energy. Opening his eyes, he looked out of the window before him, and instantly knew there was something wrong.

Jumping up, Yajirobe ran (well, walked quickly) over to the wide window, and gazed out at the planet before him.

It was nothing like Earth – that was for sure. There was a large, green lake before him, and surrounding the bank were some sparse blue trees. “Well, that’s different.” Yajirobe muttered, before walking over to the exit ramp, and placing his hands on his hips.

“Computer! I need a check on the atmosphere.” Yajirobe shouted, and stood there patiently. “Computer?” Yajirobe shouted again, before remembering about what had happened to it.

Yajirobe’s smile slid off his face, and he stood still for a second, debating whether or not to risk going out onto the planet beneath him. “Fuck it.” Yajirobe muttered, mashing the ramp lowering button on the wall next to him, and then walking down the ramp and out onto the plain before him.

The grass was a deep blue colour – much different from grass on earth. The trees matched the shrubbery, which in turn contrasted with the water, which was a deep shade of green. The whole lop-sided-ness of the colours threw Yajirobe off slightly, causing him to shake his head to clear his thoughts.

Looking around, Yajirobe could sense some ki signatures around him, most of which were significantly more powerful than the average human. Grinning, he took a slow step forward. “Well, this will be fun.” Yajirobe muttered happily, before looking up into the sky, and pushing his ki beneath him, blasting him up towards the atmosphere.

After reaching quite a significant height, Yajirobe levelled out his ki, causing him to stop in midair. Smiling, he looked around the surrounding area. Dotted around the area were small villages, composed of only a few huts here and there. However, in the near-distance, there was what appeared to be a stone column, with a large building resting atop of it.

“Guess that’s where I’ll start, then!” Yajirobe said happily, before blasting off in the direction of the column.

Before long, Yajirobe had arrived at the large white house, which was made up of large spheres, which seemed to have been morphed together. Approaching the entrance, Yajirobe’s feet softly glided along the long blue grass, before he finally came to a halt. Planting his feet firmly on the ground, Yajirobe pushed on the huge white marble doors, and felt a powerful force holding them shut.

“Oh, so it’s like that, is it?” Yajirobe said, a smile slowly sliding onto his face. Taking a step back, he raised both his hands, and let out a small chuckle, before firing over ten successive ki blasts at the wide door. Smoke covered the immediate area, and Yajirobe stepped forward, fully expecting the door, and anybody behind it, to be completely decimated.

Taking a final step forward, Yajirobe met something right in front of him – and that something was the large door, and it was crushing right into his face. Sighing, Yajirobe took another step back. The door still stood before him, obviously. More surprisingly, however, was the fact that there wasn’t a scratch to be found anywhere on the door. Groaning, Yajirobe turned round, and buffeted his ki beneath him, sending him flying up into the air.

“You asked for this.” Yajirobe said to the door, before pushing his arms out to the side. Closing his eyes, he concentrated on the bank of power inside him. Concentrating, he raised his power level to his very maximum, a deep green aura spreading around his body. He channelled his ki into his mid-section, spreading their arms wide. His chest began to glow a faint greenish colour, as an aura spread over his body. He slowly pushed his arms forwards, before springing them back, and opening his mouth, pushing all of the built up energy out of his mouth and into a beam of ki, directed straight for the large door.

The resulting explosion sent Yajirobe flying backwards, almost knocking him out of his concentrating, and he only just managed to sustain the ki beneath him, the only thing keeping him from plummeting to his death.

A smile slid onto Yajirobe’s face. “Now THAT must have done it.” Yajirobe muttered to himself, before lowering himself again, and landing atop of the column. The smoke cleared around him, and yet again, the door stood there, completely unharmed. “Fuck!” Yajirobe yelled, before dropping to the floor, and groaning. “How can I get in?” He asked himself, before raising his hand and hitting himself in the face with his palm. He had remembered, slightly late, that he could simply teleport right into there, using the technique of instant transmission that he had learnt upon Yaidrat.

Jumping to his feet, he turned to face the door. Closing his eyes, he raised his hand to his head, extending two of his fingers. Searching out with his ki, he felt it pass through the door, and concentrated his ki energy on passing through it.

Feeling his body pull, he opened his eyes. He stood in a large room, and before him was what appeared to be a large chair, but he was unsure as it was covered in a shady residue. Smirking, Yajirobe took a step forward.

Suddenly, a feeling of weightlessness came over Yajirobe, and all his thoughts floated out of his head. Dropping to his knees, he closed his eyes, trying to concentrate on controlling his body.

You have entered without my consent. Prove yourself worthy, and you will be returned to your original state. Prove yourself otherwise, and the whole memory of you will be wiped from existence. Spoke a voice from within Yajirobe’s head. Feeling his consciousness fading, Yajirobe slumped to the ground.

Inside Yajirobe’s consciousness

Yajirobe stepped up to the sign-in desk, feeling rather bored with the situation. He had been queuing for over an hour now, and was starting to get worked-up. “Yajirobe.” Yajirobe said briskly to the woman behind the desk, flashing her a mischievous smile. She blushed vigorously.

“And you surname, sir?” She asked, smiling up a Yajirobe. Oh, he sure was great with women.

“Call me Yajirobe. And, I have no surname.” He said sweetly to her, before turning, and walking over to the punching machine, which would test his strength, and his eligibility to enter the tournament. Pulling back his arm to its fullest extent, to give the illusion of his hardest punch, he pushed it forward quickly, before stopping just short of the machine, and pushing it slightly with his fist. He didn’t, after all, want to appear to be too powerful, or even break the machine.

“146?” The woman exclaimed in shock. “T-That’s the best we’ve ever seen!” Yajirobe simply smiled sweetly at her, before walking off and sitting on a bench that was positioned nearby.

I should really be training... Yajirobe thought to himself, whilst staring up into the deep blue sky. But, I think I’ve deserved a bit of fun. And anyway, nobody here will be able to even put up a challenge to me. Yajirobe sighed, before looking back over to the punching machine.

There was a huge variety of fighters present – everybody from martial artists, to boxers, to ordinary people, just trying to have some fun. Sensing their power levels, he noticed that none of them even approached the 50 mark, and Yajirobe couldn’t help but stifle a laugh. He remembered that he had been this weak once... When he was about 10. Smiling again, he lounged out on the bench, grateful for the rest. He hadn’t slept in quite a while, and was beginning to feel the strain on his body.

“774!?” Yajirobe heard the helper woman scream, before Yajirobe sat bolt upright. And snapped his eyes over to the punching machine. Standing before it was a man dressed in a black and red training gi, and he seemed to be staring right at Yajirobe. Staring back into the fighter’s eyes, Yajirobe attempted to sense his power level. However, Yajirobe could not seem to get a hold on the exact level – It was jumping around from only 50 up to a staggering 10,000. Confused, Yajirobe broke eye contact with the fighter.

Looks like there will be a challenge after all... Yajirobe contemplated, before sitting back down on his bench. He had to be prepared for the fight, or else he might be defeated. He sighed. He had only come here for a bit of enjoyment, but now it seemed he may have to break a sweat. Standing, he walked slowly into the prep room nearby, and started to remove his weighted clothing absent-mindedly. Grabbing his Saiyan armour, he threw it over his head, just as he heard steps approaching. He pulled it down onto his torso, and saw the strong fighter standing before him, smiling.

“Hey there!” The fighter said in greeting to Yajirobe. “I saw you on that punching machine, pretty darn impressive!” The fighter laughed, before walking closer to Yajirobe, and offering a hand to shake. “The names Yakouna.” He awaited a reply, but Yajirobe did not give one. He simply looked away from Yakouna, stifling a laugh. “Oh...” Yakouna muttered. “Well, Ok then...” At that, Yakouna walked away, and began to get ready himself. Yajirobe quickly donned the rest of his battle gear before walking out into the tournament square.

What a weirdo. Yajirobe thought, as he began jogging around the fighting arena. After two laps, he stopped, breathless, and waltzed over to the food stand. “12 hotdogs, 6 burgers, and 3 pints of beer. And don’t hold back on the onions.” Yajirobe ordered to the stall vendor, and then turned to admire the arena.

It was, as by regulation, a 50mx50m block of white tiles, surrounded on all sides by stands for the crowd. A small path led off the fighting platform, into the prep room. Grass took up much of the remaining space between the platform and stands. Looking up at the crowd, Yajirobe sighed. Why do they have to make so much noise? And so early in the morning too... Yajirobe thought. He was not usually up at such an early time. It was, after all, only 3PM, and Yajirobe usually didn’t awake until after 5. Scanning through the crowd, Yajirobe could see nobody that he knew, and no consequential power levels. His mind back in place, he span quickly on the spot, terrifying the stall vendor, who was just placing his food down on the counter.

“Here’s your meal, sir.” the vendor said. “That’ll be 43 zeni please.” Yajirobe simply smiled at the vendor, before turning and walking off, his arms laden with food. “H-Hey! Come back here!” The vendor yelled after him, to which Yajirobe replied by lifting his hand towards the cart and firing off a weak ki blast, just enough to destroy the cart (and vendor) but leave the remaining stadium unharmed.

The crowd went silent as they witnessed the un-needed destruction. Yajirobe turned to them, before raising his hand, and putting two fingers up to them all. Walking over to the side of the platform, Yajirobe sat down, and began to enjoy his snack.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls! Today, we have for you a show of immense fighting talent, all in order to receive this!” The announcer shouted into a microphone, before half-turning and pointing at a podium, where a golden cup stood. “The fighters today will compete in a knockout competition! Our first fight will be...” He paused for dramatic effect. “Kiang Terlaek and Yajirobe... Just Yajirobe!” The announcer announced, after being unable to find a surname for Yajirobe.

Sighing once again, Yajirobe quickly scoffed down the food and downed the beer, before standing and jumping onto the platform. Walking over to his position, he heard awe emanating, and whispers whispering from the crowd, probably due to his armour, which was ‘Out of this world.’ On top of that, his boots, gloves and scouter were all things that these humans did not usually see. Turning to acknowledge the crowd, Yajirobe raised a finger in their direction, before turning back to his opponent.

Kiang was built like a house – he was around twice as large as Yajirobe (which was pretty darn big) and almost twice as tall. “The bigger they are...” Yajirobe muttered, smiling to himself. Kiang had short, spiked blonde hair, and had a face like a squashed pancake. He wore little clothing – just a loose pair of training shorts. Smiling at Yajirobe, Kiang entered an amateur’s stance, probably meant to scare Yajirobe. Yajirobe stood completely still, however.

“Ok... 3... 2... 1... Let the fight begin!” The commentator yelled from the sidelines, starting off the fight. Kiang ran at Yajirobe, with his fist drawn back, probably in an attempt to finish the fight in one punch. Yajirobe stepped to the side as Kiang approached, causing him to stumble, and almost fall off of the platform. Yajirobe smiled. This would be an easy fight.

Walking over to the larger fighter, Yajirobe grabbed him by the neck, and threw him into the middle of the platform, before slowly walking over to him. “Ready to die?” Yajirobe asked threateningly. Kiang’s face contorted in horror, and pain. He began trying to back away, but Yajirobe placed his foot on Kiang’s chest. “I’ll take that as a yes then.” Yajirobe said menacingly, before once again grabbing Kiang, and lifting him up into the air. “Any last words?” Yajirobe asked, before pulling back his fist. Tears began to leak from Kiang’s face, as he realised he was going to die.

Smiling, Yajirobe threw Kiang off of the platform, onto the grass surrounding it.

“And, that’s the fight over, Ladies and Gentlemen! The winner is... Yajirobe, by arena knockout!” The commentator announced. Yajirobe smiled to him, before turning and walking off the platform, into the prep room.

All went silent as he walked in, and he could see the terror on his opponent’s faces, that they might have to face him next. He stopped, before panning round all of the fighters. None of them would stand a chance against him, except for Yakouna, whose power level Yajirobe could still not successfully read.

As he walked over to his gear, Yajirobe couldn’t help thinking of the things he’d be able to do with his power – he would be able to take over at least a few cities on earth, with minimal effort. He could probably travel to a different planet, and take over some places there. However, his thought path was broken as Kiang walked into the room.

Again, silence swept the room like a plague, as Kiang walked over to Yajirobe. Anger was visible, deep in his eyes, as he bent down over the samurai. The anger, however, quickly dissipated as a smile spread onto his face. “Good fight! I nearly had you though!” Kiang said, before taking a seat next to Yajirobe. “I mean, if I hadn’t of missed that first punch, you’d be a dead man!” Kiang said to him, laughing slightly.

Yajirobe turned to the half-dressed fighter, a smile on his face. “Get the fuck out of my area.” Yajirobe said quietly to him.

“Hey, man! We’re friends now!” Kiang said to him, still smiling.

Yajirobe smiled back, before pulling back his fist, and slamming it into the side of Kiang’s head. Kiang flew across the room, hitting the opposite wall head first. Blood spread across the polished floor, and gasps of shock were heard across the prep room. “Someone better clean that up.” Yajirobe said, before walking out.

Yakouna walked over to the body of Kiang, before checking his pulse. “H-He’s dead!” Yakouna exclaimed, before sighing, and closing the fighter’s eyes.

Yajirobe walked out onto the grass, before waltzing over to the announcer. “I want to fight next.” Yajirobe told him, looking forward to venting out some of his built-up anger. The announcer stuttered something incomprehensible, and then simply nodded at Yajirobe.

Yajirobe again clambered onto the platform, before turning his back on the prep room, and facing the nearby crowd. They were cheering him now – it had obviously been a while since they had seen such a powerful fighter. Smiling, Yajirobe turned back to see Yakouna standing on the other side of the platform.

“And the next fight will be Yajirobe versus Yakouna Tasanaki. Let the Fight... Begin!” The announcer announced, from way off on the sidelines. Yajirobe gasped as he heard the name Tasanaki. HE had heard that name before... However, he had no time to dwell on it, as the opposing fighter rushed in, and threw a punch towards Yajirobe’s stomach. Yajirobe grabbed said fist and flipped Yakouna onto the ground. Quickly checking his scouter, Yajirobe finally got an accurate reading on Yakouna’s power level.

“18,000!?” Yajirobe exclaimed in horror, as Yakouna simply smiled.

“Yeah. Much better than your pitiful 14,000!” Yakouna said, a smile on his face. He pulled himself up off the ground, before offering a hand to Yajirobe, in the form of a handshake. “Let’s have fun, eh?”

Yajirobe smiled, and went to shake Yakouna’s hand. However, as he got close, he threw his other fist towards Yakouna’s face, knocking the unfortunate fighter flying into the middle of the platform. “You want power?” Yajirobe asked, an evil look in his eye. “I’ll show you POWER!” Yajirobe pushed his arms to the side, before spreading his knees, and concentrating his ki energy. He quickly reached his maximum power, which was almost 19,000. Smiling up at Yakouna, Yajirobe asked, “This enough for ya?”

Yakouna simply stood up, the smile still deep on his face. “You’re not the only one who can power up!” Yakouna said, chuckling. Taking the same stance Yajirobe had held, he also powered up to his maximum power level. “Take a reading on this, why don’t ya!” Yakouna said to Yajirobe, obviously confident in his abilities. Yajirobe checked the power o his scouter, before letting out an audible gasp.

“25,000? What the fuck!” Yajirobe exclaimed, before taking a step back. Guess I’ll have to think on my feet. Smiling again, Yajirobe concentrated his ki, before releasing a clone of himself, at exactly half of his power level. “Let’s go, shit face!” Yajirobe yelled to Yakouna, before charging up his Ion beam. His clone copied the movements, and they simultaneously released their beams towards Yakouna.

Yakouna smiled, before swiftly moving his arms and releasing a bright blue Kamehameha, right into the path of the oncoming Ion beam. “I’m stronger than you Yajirobe! Just give up; I don’t want to kill you with this!” Yakouna yelled to Yajirobe, fearful for the samurai’s life.

Yajirobe simply smiled. “You’re only at 25,000 Yakouna. My clone and I together rank over 27,000!” He yelled, before pushing all of his ki into the blast, a feat copied by his clone. The beam intensified, turning a deep, blood red. Yakouna gasped, as his ki was extinguished. The beam passed over him, and the resulting explosion blew up not only the body of Yakouna, but the whole stadium. Yajirobe, fortunately, had flown up high, far out of the blast radius of the beam.

He sighed, before landing amidst the chaos. Bodies were sprawled across the ground, and the charred remains of the platform and stands littered the ground. Yajirobe walked over to where the platform once was, and grabbed the charred, dead body of Yakouna. “Humph. Guess you weren’t stronger than me after all.” Yajirobe said to his charred face, before throwing the body to the side, and walking over to the podium where the cup had stood. In its place was a pile of ash, with a single, untouched diamond resting atop of it. Smiling, Yajirobe took the diamond. “This’ll pay for a meal or two.” He muttered to himself, before flying upwards, and then blasting west, to go back to training.

This was his life now – training, then killing. Training, then killing.

Back in the real world

Yajirobe awoke with a start, with a blinding light flashing into his face.

“Urgh... What the hell?” He muttered, covering his eyes with his forearm.

You have shown perseverance in the face of danger, young one. Your strength is admirable. Whilst you still have a lot to learn, I feel that it would be right for me to give you a gift. From these hands, I will be able to unleash your inner power, and, hopefully, your inner good. I know it lies there in wait, Yajirobe. I have felt it. Now, walk over to the light. Your time draws closer.

Yajirobe stirred slightly, before slowly getting up to his feet, and walking over to the light. As he drew closer, he could see more clearly. Sitting in the chair that he noticed before was a huge alien. It seemed to be about the size of a house, and Yajirobe faltered as he drew closer to it. Swallowing, he gathered up his courage, before walking next to the chair.

Calm yourself. You won’t feel a thing.

Yajirobe felt a hand land on his head, and he almost shit himself in terror. Closing his eyes, he waited for something to happen. After a while, he still felt nothing. The hand was slowly lifted from his head, and Yajirobe felt no change.

“What gives? I can’t feel anything.” Yajirobe said down-heartedly. He had expected some kind of huge power to be coursing through his veins, but he felt nothing.

Just wait. It will come.

Yajirobe sighed. “Well, fuck you then.” He said, before raising his hand to his forehead, and teleporting back to his ship. “Motherfucker...” Yajirobe muttered, because waltzing into his training room, keen to work off some of his anger. Reaching the gravitron, he set the gravity to 35x earth’s normal gravity, and felt the strain on his body as it activated.

“Here we go...” Yajirobe muttered, before powering up to his full level. It was then that he felt something inside him. “What the...” Yajirobe said, before reaching out to the thing inside him, and feeling a great reserve of ki. Tapping into it, he was knocked back by the amazing power that it gave him. Yelling, he caused a bright green aura to surround him, far larger than his usual powered-up state. Smiling, he looked at his hands. “Now THIS is power!”
