Gosai was panting as he sprinted across the flat, waving planes of Namekian grass. The bright sunlight beat down on him harshly but for now at least he was to excited to truly notice. He was within reach of his goal, the reason he had come to this planet, as much of a 'backwater' of the universe as his own... perhaps even moreso. Why had he come? On the advice of a wise man from yet a third planet. The Kanassan elder, Torka, had instructed him to come to this world. Had even told him to seek out an elder by the name of 'Guru' who could help to unleash the power within the human warrior. He'd barely been on the planet a few hours before he had figured out where Guru was, or at least where he thought he was. -Flashback- Gosai was pacing around the ship's bridge hurriedly, his impatience getting the better of him by far. "C'mon." He declared, staring at the screen, watching the beautiful green orb drawing closer to his ship. Or, rather, the ship drawing closer to the 'orb'. "Planet Namek." The computer spoke up, startling Gosai out of his limited reverie. "Total Population... Negligible. Mineral wealth... Negligible. Assessment...temporary rest point at best. Atmosphere suitable for humans. "We're here!" Gosai declared to his traveling companions, his grandfather and Azumi, a fellow martial artist. "So the computer informed us." The elder human murmured, staring out the window as well. "Another planet. How... exhilarating. It makes me feel young again to believe we've arrived in a whole new solar system." Azumi nodded, opening her mouth to speak. Before she could utter any words however, she felt the 'stomach dropping' sensation of rapid downward motion. The ship was coming for a landing rapidly. "Seat belts to maximum buckling!" Gosai shouted, jumping into his captain's chair and fastening himself in. His other two companions quickly followed suit as the ship smashed into a landing spot, indenting the stone with it's force. They found themselves amidst a large island in the middle of a green tinted ocean. Gosai, however, gave the environment only a passing glance as he forced the doors open. "See you guys later!" He shouted, jumping out, onto the gorund and taking off in a random direction. "...Sure," Azumi mumbled. "we'll just... watch the ship." "That boy needs to learn patience." Enoki sighed. -End Flashback- (Word Count: 406 Total Word Count: 406) |

The triple sunned sky of planet Namek was, at best, disorienting. The young man had trouble navigating, telling the directions apart... not that he was all that great a navigator to begin with, but it was nice to have something to blame for the mistakes. At least the weather's nice. He thought to himself, feeling the breeze pass along his face. He'd been seeking out the 'eldest Namek' for... how long now? Once more, without a watch all he'd have to tell time with is the movement of the stars above him... and he was still terribly unfamiliar with the landscape and movements of Namek's system. Still, he'd gotten a nice tip from a secluded village of the Namekians. -Flashback deux- The suns beat down upon the exhausted human as he trudged forward. "In hindsight," he puffed, looking up at the nearly cloudless sky. "I really should have guessed that three sons would make this really hot. But it wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to deal with the friggin' humidity!" He shouted, swinging his arms around as though he were trying to fight the weather itself. Still, he trudged onward, doing his best to ignore the sweltering heat. His patience was soon to be rewarded however as he saw the small domed buildings ahead of him. A village. Small, but he could sense a few scattered ki signatures in it, and several more off in the distance. The human fighter walked further into the village, panting heavily as he looked around. "Hello?" He called out. "If you have water and ramen, I'm your new best friend." As he spoke, a single alien emerged from a building in the middle of the small village. He was an older example of the species, or at least Gosai assumed him to be. Green skin, having darkened over the years with patches of yellow along his arms. The creature's antennae twitched as he watched Gosai suspiciously. A slight paunch had left him looking less than threatening... but then, the human fighter had encountered several non threatening looking individuals who were anything but. "What have you come here for?" The Namekian demanded, pointing a single green finger in the human's direction. (Word Count: 371 Total Word Count: 777) |

"Well," Gosai opened his mouth, thinking he might need to choose his words carefully as he extended the telepathic abilities he'd gained upon Kanassa in an attempt to have his words, and the Namek's translate for the two of them. "right now, I'd like some water. But after that, I guess I just want directions to another location." The elder raised an eyebrow, slowly moving closer to Gosai. It was clear he was still suspicious of yet another strange alien that had just walked into his village. "Directions to what?" He asked. "Ah, well... I was hoping you'd tell me where to find an elder named 'Guru'?" He asked, attempting to be as respectful as possible. If he wanted to locate this elder he was going to need someone who knew the planet. Unfortunately, the Namekian's reaction was far different than Gosai had anticipated as he turned towards one of the dome shaped buildings and called out something in his own language. In moments, three other Namekians had surrounded him, these ones were younger, their skin a lighter shade of green... and on top of that, Gosai could feel much greater auras coming from them. Warriors. He thought simply, forcing his own ki as far down as possible and fighting his instinct to assume a combative stance. "Why are you seeking out elder Guru?" The older Namekian demanded. "Well, someone told me he has an ability that could... y'know... help me. I just wanna meet with him. See if he'll help me out." Gosai declared, attempting to push more calming thoughts into the Namekians with telepathy. "It's uh... it's not a big deal, is it?" "We have a long history of people coming to Namek and ravaging our societies." The elder growled at Gosai. "Well... crap." He sighed, expecting this to end badly for him. The three warrior Nameks were drawing closer to Gosai, preparing to strike at the human martial artist before the elder stepped forward. "Perhaps we can make an arrangement." He finally declared, walking between the warriors who had been guarding him. "I'll provide the information if you'll handle a small chore for me." He chuckled. "Ahh, sure." Gosai nodded. "Sounds good. Anything's better than getting into a fight, eh?" To be honest, he could probably have handled his would be assailants, but really why waste the time fighting? Especially since it wouldn't help his situation any. -End Flashback- And that's how he ended up in this situation now. He'd been asked to spend several hours helping to plant a series of... well... plants. The aging Namek had eventually explained to him that after a 'great cataclysm' on Namek much of the plant life had been decimated... in fact, one of the goals of 'Guru' was apparently to restore the natural beauty of this world. It isn't really lacking in that department though. He thought, skidding to a stop to catch his breath. He'd been running in the direction the Namekians had told him for hours, the trouble was that he had no way of knowing just how far he'd gone without any really great landmarks to navigate by and with no signs of night, no telling how long he'd been at it. "Alright," he sighed, sitting down on the grassy plain. "let's have some water." The young man decided, fishing around in his pocket for a small capsule that he tossed to the ground, a single small explosion later and he had a canteen lying at his feet. One he quickly began to drink greedily from... At least, that was the plan until he noticed something else moving through the grass. A miniature Namekian. One the human had to assume to be a child. A young one at that, when he took into account the fact that the tiny alien reached only to his knee. (Word Count: 336 Total Word Count: 1,420) |

"Hey, there little fella." Gosai spoke up, offering a smile to the child before shifting where he sat. "You lost?" The small Namekian looked up at Gosai, startled by his voice. He looked a little bedraggled, as though he'd been out and about for hours, perhaps days... however those were determined on this world. After the intent of the human fighter's question came through to the child he began nodding frantically. Eying his condition a bit more, the tiny alien appeared to have his lips cracked, dirt caked around his face and hands. Oh yes, he'd been out here for a while. The human cast his eyes down towards his canteen and then at the child. With a small shrug he handed the still full container to the child, watching him unscrew the top and begin drinking as much as he could from it. Once he was finished, the small green boy looked up at Gosai expectantly... what he expected, the human couldn't really say. "Do you live around here?" He asked at last, standing back up. The child merely shrugged much to Gosai's surprise. "I don't know where I am now..." The child spoke up. His voice was still rough as he spoke, his parched mouth was only beginning to recover. "I see." Gosai sighed, but smiled as he held out his hand. "In that case, why don't you tag along with me? We'll see if we can't find your home, huh?" At that suggestion, the child brightened considerably and began nodding. "I'd like that." He finally stated. "Excellent." The human smiled before pointing in a random direction. "Why don't we look... this way. Good as any, right?" The small Namekian nodded and trotted along behind the taller human. The two certainly made an odd duo, both their color scheme and size standing in stark contrast to one another... still though, it seemed the alien child was just happy not to be alone anymore. "So, what kind of place are you from? A city maybe?" "Sit... tee?" The child asked, looking at Gosai curiously. "Yeah, y'know. A city. Place where a whole, whole lot of people gather together and live." The child shook his head. "We don't have anything like that. There are only," He paused, counting his fingers for a few moments. "a few hundred Nameks on the entire planet." He declared. (Word Count: 394 Total Word Count: 1,814) |

Gosai blinked rapidly at that statement. Only a few hundred? He thought to himself. That explains just why they're so paranoid about new guys coming around here. Get one hostile alien and suddenly they go from 'endangered' to 'extinct'. "Well," he finally spoke up. "I guess that makes it really important to get you home, huh? Your family must be really worried." The human offered a smile to the tiny namekian before picking him up and starting towards the sky. "Hold on tight." He grinned. "You can fly!?" The child gasped, he seemed surprised that Gosai managed it, but not necessarily that it was possible. "I thought only the warriors here knew how to do that." "Eh, you learn weird things on different planets. By the way, d'you have a name or something?" The child nodded again before speaking. "My name is Bassoo." He declared as the two life forms continued flying higher into the air. "Why are we only going up?" The child asked curiously. "Well," Gosai began speaking. "I was hoping that if we went up high enough you'd see something that could help you figure out where your village is. I don't know anything about landmarks here." Bassoo nodded again, looking around the landscape attempting to find anything he recognized. A flash of excitement passed over his face after a few moments as he pointed at a large outcropping of rocks. "I recognize those mountains. My village is near those!" "Awesome!" Gosai laughed taking off across the skyline towards a single massive plateau. "So, does your village have a name?" The child nodded again, happy to keep talking. "I'm from Rashna village." "They must know you're missing right? I mean, if there's more than one village you probably have like... only a dozen or so people. They're probably worried sick about you." "They probably are." The green child nodded his agreement with Gosai's statement, continuing to look around over the horizon. "If we go fast we might get there soon." He declared sounding more encouraged. Gosai smirked and began 'pouring on the speed' so to speak. The ground was passing by them at high speed, the distance being covered far faster than he could have run it. "Holding on tight there, kiddo?" He asked, making sure he had a good grip on the small Namekian. "I'm... fine." He nodded, holding tighter to Gosai. The human fighter was counting the moments in his head until he came across another small village. However, moments quickly turned into minutes. And the minutes began adding up just as quickly. "Are you sure your village was near here, Bassoo?" The longer this was taking the more uncertain he was becoming of this particular course of action. Not helping the kid, but the direction they were going in. "Of course." The child alien assured Gosai as the duo continued flying along the, apparently quite massive, island. The only thing breaking up the monotony of the landscape was the occasional plateau. Lots of tectonic activity around here, I guess. He thought to himself. In the distance though, he could see something else. A single, tall, thing plateau. In and of itself that was nothing unusual. What made this of interest however was a single large dwelling that adorned the top of it, taking up much of the space of the top of the plateau and giving Gosai the impression of a hat from it's shape. "The heck is that?" He mumbled as the two flew ever closer to it. "Well, either way... maybe we can get directions there?" He suggested to the kid, who this time said nothing as they drew closer to the singular dwelling. (Word Count: 309 Total Word Count: 2,432) |

There's always something ominous about huts out in the middle of nowhere, but to be perfectly honest, Gosai had had a decent record with them. Master Roshi lived in a small beach house in the middle of the ocean, Korin lived atop a massive tower in, you guessed it, the middle of the forest. Why not have something important on the top of a secluded mountain? It wouldn't be that odd. "Any idea what this place is, kid?" Gosai queried as he landed with a soft 'thump' on the rocky outcropping surrounding the hut. "You've found the home of the eldest namek." A new voice stated simply. Gosai raised his head up to see a new namekian stepping out of the hut. His posture and mannerisms seemed to scream that he was a warrior, and his aura matched Gosai's own in sheer power. No. He corrected himself. He's a little bit stronger. Involuntarily, Gosai adjusted his stance into a more defensible position, the new arrival was powerful and seemed to be rather aggressive at that. The smaller namekian was quick to run over to his taller counterpart, giving Gosai a polite bow as he arrived over there. "We apologize for the deception." He spoke up, watching Gosai. "But lord Guru became aware of your presence almost as soon as you landed upon this world." The larger namekian nodded, picking up his counterpart's story. "He was in communication with the elder of the first village you stopped at, and upon learning you were seeking him sent Bassoo to encounter you. If you wish to utilize Lord Guru's enhancements then you must prove that you would not abuse your new power." "Well, everyone else I've met wanted to test me before training me, or well... doing just about anything." (Word Count: 301 Total Word Count: 2,733) |

"Did I pass though?" The young human finally inquired, peering towards the two Namekians as he rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet, having gone from tense and ready to fight to... well... his usual relaxed situation. Tension was quickly draining to be replaced with curiosity. The older namek shrugged his shoulders before gesturing back towards the hut with his head. "There's no way to know without asking Lord Guru yourself." He declared, turning on the ball of his foot to re-enter the chambers of the 'Eldest Namek'. Gosai raised an eyebrow before glancing as Bassoo, after shrugging his shoulders the human walked in after him before freezing in surprise once he was face to... gut with 'Lord Guru'. Geez, do nameks get bigger as they age or something? He thought to himself. Guru was... massive, to put it lightly. Even in his sitting position, Gosai only reached perhaps up to Guru's chest with the Namekian's arms being as thick as the human's own head. The most obvious of his features however was the rotund stomach adorning his body. The aging alien was enormous in every sense of the word. "I've brought the human." The older Namekian stated plainly, kneeling down to a single knee before the 'eldest namek'. "Are you prepared to pass judgement?" Guru's response to the statements was a cough, and it seemed as though that would be all he would say for several moments before his mouth opened again. "You have done well, Clarinet." He finally spoke, breathing deeply with each word. Slowly, he turned his head to look over at Gosai. "And you, my boy, step closer. My eyes are not as strong as sharp as they once were..." Gosai said nothing, merely walked closer to the aging Namekian. "Ah... yes?" He asked at last, looking up at his massive figure. "Is there... er... anything wrong?" The massive Namekian laughed softly, raising his ham-sized fist up to his mouth to cover his cough. "You came here... hoping I could unleash your hidden power." Guru spoke up, it wasn't a question but a statement. "However... you chose to seek me out through peaceful means... even hiding your power..." "I didn't want to seem confrontational." Gosai admitted, shifting around a bit. His hopes were growing, but apparently Guru was not finished speaking to him. (Word Count: 392 Total Word Count: 3,125) |

"You didn't seek strength single mindedly either." The namekian elder continued, the rise and fall of his chest fairly apparent as he spoke. "You allowed yourself to be sidetracked, aiding in the farming of one of the villages... and attempting to help Bassoo find his way home." Once more, Gosai shrugged. "I figured you'd be there when I got finished with it all." He commented. The ancient Namekian nodded yet again in response to his comments. "Your heart isn't exactly pure," Guru admitted as he lifted his hand, placing it upon the young fighter's head. "however it is a good one. You are willing to help others with no thought of reward-" "Though I wont turn one down if it's offered." Gosai admitted, he didn't feel like it was a wise idea to try and lie to the elder... though he doubted he'd get away with it if he did attempt it. "And honest." The elder laughed, the hand growing heavy on the human's head. It felt like a sign of affection at least until the human fighter felt Guru's hand beginning to warm up. "You will do well with this gift." "Lord Guru-?" Clarinet began to speak up, stepping closer to the elder as his aura began to flare up. A weak, wavering glow at first, but one that quickly grew brighter as he focused upon the human. Soon, both of them were engulfed within the Namekian's aura. "Wh-what's going on?" Gosai questioned, looking around nervously. "Lord Guru is releasing your inner strength." Bassoo informed Gosai with a smile. The entire process seemed to have lasted only moments, but as it ended, Gosai's breathing was faster. His heart beating in his chest as he looked around. Everything felt new and different. His muscles were tensed, corded as he stared at the Namekians. Even his senses felt sharper. "This... this is amazing." "It's the gift of the elder." Clarinet nodded. "His power allows you to maximize your own, unleashing whatever hidden talents you might possess in the process. You're definitely a warrior though." He murmured. "You've been made much stronger." "I... have to show this to Azumi and gramps!" He laughed, moving for the door. "Don't worry, I'll definitely be back to visit!" He assured them taking off into the sky once again. The sky of namek seemed greener as he flew through it, the suns shined a bit more brightly as he spun through the air. "Amazing." He laughed. "Just... just amazing!" It was like fire in his veins. He even felt more energetic, wanting to test this new strength any way that he could. As he began to land in front of his ship, his hands were still twitching, looking for something to do. "Gosai..." Enoki gasped, his senses alight with Gosai's newfound strength. "What has... happened?" He inquired, moving closer to his grandson, followed quickly by Azumi who seemed just as startled by the young man's new power. "I went over and found Guru." He declared, giving them the short version of the events. "He... I dunno, made me stronger. I don't know what he did, they said he released my 'hidden potential'." Enoki nodded for a moment, stroking his chin. "I've heard of similar abilities. It's a rare thing that. A power that must be used carefully none the less though. However, it seems to have certainly done you a world of good." The aged human chuckled. "He seems kinda jittery." Azumi observed, watching Gosai as he continued shifting from one foot to the other. "I'm excited. Like I've had too much caffeine. C'mon! Let's go and find something to dooooo!" He declared, before he took off running into the distance again. "...And I thought he was energetic before." Azumi sighed, shaking her head. Enoki merely laughed, watching his grandson vanish into the distance. "Should we follow him?" The young woman asked, turning to the elder man. "It may be a good idea." He shrugged, strolling casually off towards the direction his grandson had run off in. "Maybe we can spar with him... it should be an... enlightening experience." "Eh? You wanna fight that?" Azumi queried. "...He's been letting his technique suffer as his strength grew. I need to find some way to show him that." The Matsuhito patriarch shrugged. --- Fin. Word Count: 331 Total Word Count: 3,839 |
