The breeze pushed across the vast green pasture. The clouds above were moving peacefully. The water nearby was calm and temperatures seemed to be moderate at best. A peaceful scene like this was scene for yet another visitor. There was a faint form that appeared but couldn't quite hold itself together. It vanished for a moment, but then appeared again. The form looked similar to what a TV screen would appear to be when its analog signal was choppy and it took the shape of a person. It vanished one more time before appearing again. This time a bright white light was the form of this person's taking just before the light dimmed. This dimming light would then materialize into a solid form...Junior Hiiragi. Junior felt his body at first. He was in a minor state of shock. His breathing seemed to return to normal. He felt whole. I...feel alright. Junior then noticed the water nearby. Soon as he felt able to move he ran over to the water. He looked over the edge at his reflection. I look like myself too! He sat down on the ground and took a deep breath. "Whew...guess it worked. Now, if I did it exactly as the scroll said, I should be back on Earth." Junior looked around. All he saw was green pasture and dirt ground. Immediately he gave a suspicious expression. That's strange. This doesn't look like anything I've seen on Earth. Junior bent down and smelled the grass. There was a strange smell to it. Something he couldn't quite place about the smell but it was strange nonetheless. The grass smells funny too. Some kind of weed killer? Junior looked around again to see absolutely nothing. "Nothing for miles in either direction. I can't sense anyone nearby. Guess somehow I blew it and this isn't home." Junior looked down at the water again. He had a smile on his face, but his eyes seemed sad. He looked deep into the reflection cast by the water. That's when he saw it...Shaira and his father. ================================== On Earth...City Dokensapato It was raining and it was just after dark. At Junior's home, Dr. Hiiragi was sitting down to dinner. But he had a guest...Shaira. Dr. Hiiragi was setting two plates down on the table. They were filled with Spaghetti. Shaira was looking at the food and she gave a nod. "Thank you, Dr. Hiiragi for having me over." She said. "Eh, it's no problem. It's a nasty night to be out by yourself. I'll take you home after dinner." responded Dr. Hiiragi. Shaira started eating slowly. Dr. Hiiragi was eating as well and it wasn't till he looked over at Shaira did he notice something. His eyes now slightly wide, he froze for a minute. Shaira was sitting there with a depressed expression on her face. But that's not what he noticed. Shaira looked up at Dr. Hiiragi just then. "Is...something wrong?" she asked. Dr. Hiiragi shook his head and went back to eating. "No...I just found it funny. You're sitting in the exact seat where Junior would sit when he eats dinner at the table." Shaira sighed, hearing Junior's name again. She then noticed his picture on the nearby bookshelf. It was a picture of Junior and his grandmother when he was 9 years old. Sighing she looked away. "You miss him don't you?" "Yeah, he's never gone away like this before. It's been weeks since his last call. I'm really worried about him. What if something's happened?" Dr. Hiiragi tried not to show signs of being upset. Shaira, noticing his expression decided not to push the issue anymore. "Sorry, I didn't mean to upset you." She said. "Hah, don't be silly. As a father I'm worried also. He's still my responsibility. Ever since his grandmother was killed he's been different." "Is that why you still keep that picture of him on the shelf there?" Shaira asked. Dr. Hiiragi then looked over. He saw the picture of 9 year old Junior. Shifting over to the seat next to his he grabbed the picture off the shelf. "Yeah, it's a reminder of the carefree boy I used to visit back in Hopset. I remember I'd come into his grandmother's house and he'd run up and jump into my arms going "Oto-sama"." Shaira remembered those times as well. She lived in the town of Hopset back then as well. She had strong memories of the Junior she knew back then as well.
"He used to smile a lot. Now it seems he only has a grin on his face when he knows the answer to something." Shaira said. Dr. Hiiragi gave a nod then sighed. "I guess we can both agree on one thing...we'd both like the old Junior back." Shaira looked down at the food on her plate, just the same as Dr. Hiiragi did. The two of them closed their eyes. Son.... thought Dr. Hiiragi. Junior... thought Shaira. Their thoughts seemed to connect just then. Please, come back to me. Their thoughts seemed to extend out to the stairs, wishing for not only Junior's physical return, but his mental return as well. |
