Trumpet bowed before Elder Struv, much to the old Namekian’s distaste. “How many times must I tell you, Trumpet? Do not bow before me,” Struv said, reached out and pulling on the trainee’s shoulder gently, but strongly. “When young warriors bow to old men, they give allegiance. People like you should be out exploring the world, not vowing loyalty to old fogies like me.” Nodding, Trumpet simply settled for bowing his head slightly. “I understand, Master, but I feel the respect is due considering how much you have taught me. Next to Guru, you are our highest and most sacred elder. Having defended out planet from saiyan raids for the last hundred years has earned you such an exalted position,” replied Trumpet in a monotone voice. “You have quite the silver-tongue, don’t you, Trumpet?” Struv commented with a smile. “I think it’s time I taught you a few new techniques. You education in Ki usage is somewhat lacking at this point. If your dream to join the paladins is ever to become reality, you will need extensive control of your ki.” Trumpet looked at his master, his face lighting up. “You are going to teach me to fly, elder?” he asked, poorly concealing his excitement. Struv met the younger namekian’s gaze. He was amazed at the knowledge he could see within them. Also a burning desire to be given a chance to prove himself. “Once mastered, one can do much more with their inner ki than use it to fly, Trumpet. You would be amazed at some of the things that I saw, and was capable of, in my youth. Those days for me on gone, but for you they are just beginning.” Just as Trumpet was about to ask Struv what sort of things he spoke of, another namekian ran into the building. “Elder Struv,” he commented, bowing. “I have just seen Fildor escaping his prison! The direction he flew in suggests he is on his way to Guru’s.” Always calm, even in high-stress situations, Struv turned to Trumpet. “My son,” he said, having always been a father figure to the young namekian. “It is time you realized your dream to protect Guru. If you run, you may be able to get there in time to stop him. Hurry.” Trumpet nodded and turned to leave, but the man whom had warned them of Fildor’s escape stood in his path. “Move. I must hurry,” Trumpet told him forcefully. He recognized the namekian as one of his class-mates in his youth; Ytuo. “You’ll need help. I’m coming with you,” Ytuo replied, standing his ground. Glancing back at Struv, whom nodded his approval, Trumpet brushed past Ytuo. "Whatever, just try to keep up.” Outside, both fighters dashed off towards Guru’s village. Fildor could fly, but they ran quickly none-the-less, hoping against all hope they’d make it in time to stop him from harming Guru. ------ WC: 483 TC: 483 PC: 1 |

A few minutes later found Trumpet and his new companion, Ytuo, entering the village quietly. If Fildor had already killed Guru – they prayed to the elders he hadn’t – then he could be anywhere in the village. After creeping around buildings for a little while, they came into sight of Guru’s hut. Two guards lay dead at the entrance, and a hole was blown in the roof. The two namekians rushed closer, opening the door a crack as quickly as possible. One above the other, they peered into the room. Guru sat on his throne to the back of the room, as always, and about ten feet from him, close to the door, stood Fildor. Trumpet took in his appearance, as he had never seen him before. The criminal had strangely dark skin, hardly green at all, and his muscles were a deep red versus the usual pink. He also stood at about six foot two, slightly above average height. Just before Trumpet could tell him the plan, Ytuo stepped into the room and ran at Fildor, trying to tackle him to the ground. With relative ease, the criminal stepped backwards, sticking out his leg and tripping Ytuo. Trumpet had a brief face-palm moment before stepping into the room himself. “It’s time for you to go back to prison, Fildor,” he said firmly, raising his powerlevel slightly. Chuckling, the older, more powerful Fildor turned to face him. “Is that so? And what makes you think you’ll be any more successful at stopping me from killing this fat bum than those two guards napping outside? I will crush you, child. I tell you what; leave now, and I’ll let you live, maybe even your little friend here,” he replied in a somewhat high-pitched, cackling voice. As he spoke an aura rose around him threateningly. Acting out of stupidity, Ytuo dove at the criminals back, only to be caught by the throat by him. “I thought you people were supposed to be honorable? Hah, so much for what the Elder’s say. If you knew what I knew about our people’s history, you’d be just like I am, isn’t that right, Guru?” he spat out, looking at Guru, who sighed silently. “I don’t care about your reasons. You’ve killed your own people. I’ve got to send you back to where you belong, Fildor,” Trumpet said, stepping forward. After looking back at him curiously for a moment, the criminal laughed again. “Very well. When I finish with you, I can move on to your friend here, and then this fat oaf you call father,” he replied, throwing Ytuo down at Guru’s feet and making a move towards Trumpet. The younger namekian shook his head. “There is no room here. Let’s do this outside, so that we can actually move around and make this interesting.” Chuckling some more, Fildor nodded and followed Trumpet back outside, staying about two yards behind him incase the namekian tried anything funny. ------ WC: 491 TC: 974 PC: 2 |
