Here he was again. Babosa stood across from Kizu, the ever vigilant watch over the master of the planet, Elder Guru. Only, something seemed off. Kizu, who seemed to be ready to strike down Babosa, because of either his disrespectful first impression or that air that said Babosa could be a threat to Elder Guru, was not even looking at Babosa. It seemed as though he didn't want to acknowledge he had a job that Guru called him for.

"Kizu, my child, you know what has to be done" Guru's voice echoed from within the building. Casting a look that was a mix between a glare and confusion, Kizu moved. However, instead of just stepping aside, he took to the air, leaving the building all together.

"That was... odd" Babosa mumbled to himself.

"Come to me Babosa, we must discuss something" Guru beckoned. Remember he was here for a reason, Babosa quickly entered the building. Knowing the procedure by now, Babosa walked to the center of the room and was brought to the upper room.

"What do you want Elder?" Babosa asked. He immediately felt weird about it. When he usually approached the Namekian, he felt as though he was forced to respect him. Sure, he still called him Elder, a sign of respect, but he didn't use the same tone. Perhaps it was because Kizu wasn't there?

"As you may be aware, Kizu has left his post"

"I've noticed. Is something wrong?" Babosa replied. The fact Kizu, a Namekian he considered the strongest on the planet, at least to his knowledge, wasn't by his master's side, said something.

"Indeed, there is a very large problem" Guru answered, surprising and scaring Babosa a bit. "Kizu is... zzzz"

Babosa's eye twitched. The old Namekian had fallen asleep on him... again. "Wake up Elder!"

Guru's head moved a bit before waking up. "Hmm, what do you need?"

"I need you to tell me what's wrong. You said that there's a very large problem with Kizu" Babosa explained.

"Oh, right. Kizu has been working for me every day for many years now. It's come to the point that I feel he hasn't had a true break from guarding me. As one of my children, I cannot let him suffer, even if he does so silently. So, I have ordered him to take the day off" Guru announced.

"... and how does this include me?" Babosa asked, not really sure why this was such a big problem.

"As he takes a break, I need someone to replace him for the day to guard me. As such, I want you to stand guard" Guru offered.

This genuinely shocked Babosa. He had only met with Elder Guru a few times, and now he was being offered a quick job that had been left in the hands of one of the most loyal Namekians on the planet.

"My child?"

Babosa snapped out of his thoughts, remembering he was talking to Guru, Babosa nodded his head. "It would be my honor, Elder Guru"

Babosa tapped his foot, looking around. He had started his job as Kizu's temporary replacement, but he didn't realize how boring it was. All he had to do was stand outside the door to the building, which was pretty nice as far as being an easy job goes. But to stand there for an extended period of time and do almost nothing. It was boring.

He was already gaining a new respect for Kizu. In addition to being one of the strongest Namekians he knew of, the Namek could also take this long period of inactivity... or was it inactivity?

Thinking it over, Babosa thought it out. All Kizu did all day was stand guard for Guru. He was provided with water (the only nutrition that Namekians needed) and he had to do no other work. To pass the time, he could have been training all this time, which would explain why he was so strong.

Thinking further into it, he realized something about it still didn't work. While Kizu had all the time on Namek to train, there wasn't much to train with, nothing that others couldn't do really. Babosa scratched the base of his antenna in frustration. It didn't really matter when it came down to it. Even if he did what Kizu was doing to train here, he wouldn't be able to catch up. He needed something better.

"Hello, are you filling in for Kizu?"

But what could train him enough to catch up to Kizu? When Babosa thought it over, he realized that in a sense, he was idolizing Kizu. He had power, something that he wanted. But they were so different. Kizu wanted to protect the leading Elder of all Namekians, Babosa wanted to protect any Namekian. Sure, that was similar, but the ways they planned to do so was different.

"Um, hello? are you listening to me?"

Then Babosa decided. Whatever he ended up doing, he needed to defeat Kizu. He would train harder, grow stronger, and eventually challenge Kizu to a battle. It would be then and there that Babosa proved he was a truly strong Namekian. While he was proud to use his brain, as he had in the weekly tournament, he wanted to used his strength.

"I guess I won't be seeing Elder Guru today"

"Babosa, what are you doing?" Guru asked, still safe within the building. It was his voice that broke Babosa out of his train of thought.

Looking around, Babosa realized there was another Namekian, waiting to get by him. The Namekian seemed familiar to him. Then, he remembered. It was Zimo, from the weekly tournament.

"Um, uh, sorry Elder Guru, I was lost in my thoughts. Sorry to hold you up Zimo" Babosa apologized, stepping aside to let Zimo by.

"No problem Babosa. I have to say though, I'm surprised you're here. Even more surprised to see Kizu's not here" the Namekian laughed.

"Yeah, well, same here" Babosa admitted. This only made Zimo laugh a bit more before passing him to see what Guru wanted of him.

While things worked out there, Babosa straightened himself out. He didn't even noticed Zimo, who was trying to get his attention. If someone had decided to attack, Guru could be dead at this very moment. He had no intention of being known as the Namekian who let Elder Guru die.

Babosa now sat with his back against the door to Guru's building. Since Zimo had arrived and left, he had seen noone else. It had already been a few hours. He never imagined a job like this could be so boring. Then again, what should he have expected?

Namekians were a peaceful race. To see anyone go against that belief was very rare (although considering some of the Namekians he had seen in the weekly tournament, it was questionable if that was still true). Even if a Namekian wasn't peaceful, they wouldn't want Elder Guru to be harmed.

Besides the Dragon Balls, there was almost no reason for alien species to arrive on their planet. Even in that case, there would be almost no reason to go after Guru since the Dragon Balls were hidden by the elders of other villages, so not even Elder Guru knew where they were.

Regardless, without Elder Guru, they would have no Dragon Balls. They would lose the greatest source of Namekian history and culture that one could think of. If they lost Elder Guru, they may very well lose Namek itself.

Babosa shook his head. He didn't need these thoughts in his head. He was protecting Guru, even if it was for only a day. If he got these thoughts he could break down. Besides, what were the chances that something bad would happen?...

Apparently high enough.

Descending from the sky right over the building was what looked to be a spaceship, shaped very much like a disc with a number of windows and areas for landing pads.

The landing pads emerged, attaching themselves to the building, although they didn't stay there for long. Babosa quickly jumped to action, using his Mystic Attack to rip the landing pads off the building, and apart from the ship itself.

He then prepared an attack to assault the ship, but stopped when it moved away from the building. He hoped it was just leaving, but quickly found it was making a weak landing not to far off. Keeping his eyes on it, he watched for any signs of who was aboard the ship to emerge.

In hindsight, he should have waited for whoever to emerge. It could have been an ally of Elder Guru for all he knew. However, if they were allies, he should have been warned of their arrival. He wouldn't let anyone hurt the Namekian Elder.

Then, from the top of the ship, a round opening appeared, letting out a mist. While he couldn't see through it, he could make out the form of three beings in the mist. Whoever they were, Babosa was ready for them.

Emerging from the mist were the three beings. All were humanoid, wearing a spandex outfit with boots, gloves, and armor covering the torso and shoulders. The one on Babosa's left was a yellow feathered individual with a green beak that had a green lensed scouter over his right eye.

Then there was the one to Babosa's right was a scaly, gray being with blue spots and a thick, knee length tail who had something that looked like a scouter helmet with red lens on his head.

Lastly, there was the one in the middle. They looked completely human with white hair to their shoulders, with the only thing that stood out was the red skin.

The group looked around before the one with the scouter helmet caught Babosa's power. "Lord Pata, it appears that the individual who assaulted our ship is right there" the scaly member of the group stated.

"That's, bah-bawk, obvious Peta" the yellow-feathered alien stated.

Shaking his head, Lord Pata said "He's trying to be helpful Pita, just let him have this moment. You know his uses aren't in his brain but his brawn"

"Thank you Lord Pata" Peta said, not realizing that he was insulted in that statement.

Not wanting to wait for the aliens to do something, Babosa approached them. "You three, what do you want here? Why did you try to land on Elder Guru's building?"

Frowning at Babosa, Pata turned to Pita and ordered "Tell the slug that I'm here for the old slug so we can get knowledge of the Dragon Balls out of the other slugs faster"

"Bah-bawk! Very well Lord Pata" Pita responded. He turned to Babosa, ready to say something, but was interrupted by the very Namekian.

"I can hear you. And I'm afraid that I will not allow that. I have been ordered to guard Elder Guru today, and noone will lay a finger on him" Babosa announced.

"You cannot speak to Lord Pata that way, bah-bawk! I will have you slaughtered for that!" Pita crowed, leaping toward Babosa with the intent to harm him.

He didn't get far though. Babosa whipped his arm out, his claws extending with his arm to cut through Peta's neck, lopping the chicken-like alien's head off. Babosa merely grinned as he contracted his arm to normal.

"H-he just killed Pita! What should we do Lord Pata!?" Peta cried.

"Bah-bawk! I'm not dead you fool! Help me out!" Pita's head shouted, surprising Babosa and Peta apparently. "I'm a Cluckero, my body and head can survive one to two hours without being connected to one another. You need to get me to a rejuvenation tank though! So kill this fool and help me out!"

"Uh-uh, right!" Peta exclaimed. He put on a serious face, ready to start a fight with Babosa. Babosa was already starting the fight though. His arm was once more extended, his fist slamming into Peta's face, destroying the helmet's lens. Then, grabbing on to the spandex around his neck, Babosa pulled Peta toward him.

"Bah-bawk! Not so fast slug!" Pita commanded, opening his mouth to fire a beam at Babosa's arm. Knowing he couldn't dodge it, he covered his other hand in ki and extended it, knocking the beam away. The beam just happened to go over to Pita's headless body, frying it.

"Bah-bah-bah-bawk!? What have you done!? You've reduced my body to fried chicken!" Pita shouted.

"Then lets make your head match" Babosa responded, moving his ki covered hand over to Pita, grabbing on to the feathered head. With the help of the ki, he was able to quickly fry it.

Babosa grinned, happy to have already eliminated one of the three intruders, even if he thought he had killed him before. The smile disappeared in a second as he felt a set of claws cut through his other arm.

Looking over, he saw that Peta had claws tearing through his gloves, and were now dripping with his purple blood. He contracted the rest of his arm while the part that was holding on to Peta fell to the ground.

Despite the death of Pita, Pata laughed. "You're not bad slug. Too bad for you that Pita is more of an intelligence officer than a bodyguard. Peta here is a much better fighter. In fact, I give permission for full power"

"Aye Lord Pata" Peta replied, nodding his head, fangs bared.

Peta roared, knowing full well he was now allowed to use his full power. This didn't look good for Babosa. He hadn't even been in a full fight with the guy before, but apparently he had more strength. Of course, Babosa wasn't at full power either, but he still had 'Lord' Pata to deal with later.

Peta removed his helmet, revealing two small horns and pupiless yellow eyes. As he powered up, his muscle mass increased slightly, which caused his horns to extened slightly. His tail grew a bit longer with spikes on it, but otherwise there was no other change.

With no restraint on his power, Peta quickly lost reasoning and merely leapt into battle. He swiped at Babosa, trying to shred the Namekian to pieces. Thankfully for Babosa, the extra mass slowed Peta down, much like during his battle with Bluja in the weekly tournament. Still, he couldn't keep dodging, and this time he had no spikes to impale the enemy on. At the very least he had more room.

Getting some distance, Babosa used his Mystic Attack with his remaining arm, cutting at Peta with his claws. The armor covering his torso and shoulders was made of some material too strong for him to just cut through, at least at this time, which cut down on the regions for him to attack. If that wasn't bad enough, Peta's scales were thick, making whatever damage he did minimal.

Disliking Babosa's tactics, which left him unable to truly attack, Peta watched Babosa's arm carefully, trying to follow its movements, before finally seeing an opening and grabbing it by the wrist.

While it looked like Babosa was in trouble, he knew very well that things would end up worse if he tried to just contract his arm. Instead, he continued extending it, making the length of the arm grow and bend upward, confusing Peta.

When he dubbed it long enough, Babosa manipulated his arm into a loop that he maneuvered around Peta's neck, creating a noose of sorts, then began the contracting. While he was unable to cut through the scales, he was able to pressure them against the flesh beneath.

Angered even further that Babosa had found a way to harm him, he used his claws to cut through the arm again, leaving Babosa with two stumps. With nothing to defend himself but his legs, Babosa began fleeing from Peta once more.

The larger being was slower, but had persistence. No matter what he tried to do, Babosa couldn't escape. Things took a turn for the worse when he tripped on bump in the landscape, allowing Peta to catch up.

Jumping on the opportunity to capture Babosa, Peta clamped his clawed hands around Babosa's ankles, holding him upside-down and facing him. "Got you slug. Hope you had a good life, because I'm going to end it" Peta chuckled deeply. Opening his mouth, Peta prepared to devour Babosa whole.

This only provided Babosa the opportunity to win.

Putting his stumpy arms forward, Babosa strained his ki to them, causing his arms to regenerate, and used them immediately with a Mystic Attack to reach down Peta's throat and cut at anything he could.

Peta's eyes widened for a fraction of a second before he dropped Babosa and began coughing up pink blood.

Babosa was satisfied as he watched his foe slowly choke on his own blood, sighing in relief.

"Think you've won so soon slug?"

Babosa's eyes widned immediately as he turned around, finding Pata behind him now, a charged ball of ki in his hands that he held forward. "I'll give you points for killing Peta, he was my bodyguard. But I only need one so I don't waste my own energy. It is now that you see what a true warrior is like"

Babosa shut his eyes, not wanting to see death come to him. He waited for Pata to attack, because the strength of the charged attack and the fact it was aimed at Babosa's head meant he'd die if it hit him.

Then, he heard an attack fired off... but he wasn't dead.

Opening his eyes, he saw Kizu with his arm extended and fingers spread open. He was only able to see Kizu because Pata's head was now missing, smoke rising from where it once was.

"Hmm, it seems there's been some action in my absence" Kizu muttered.

"... you could say that" Babosa answered, a little shocked by the Namekian's arrival.

Looking around, seeing Pita's fried body and head, Peta's bleeding corpse, and Pata's headless form, Kizu nodded. "Well, you needed some help at the end... but you did alright for a temporary replacement"

"... thanks"

Walking back to Guru's building, Kizu stopped for a moment and looked back. "In the future, you'll have to do a better job... but I may call on you for some help"

Babosa just stood their, watching Kizu return to his job after his break. He still had a lot to learn and a lot to do to catch up to Kizu, but maybe, just maybe, he was on the right track.
