Trunks eyes were closed as he flew inside a Saiyan space pod toward the planet Namek. He was in a deep meditative state, his thoughts clear of everything but darkness. It was a state of mind in which his entire body felt free of any limitations and, for once in a few years, his mind felt at ease. He was training with his mind, picturing himself--he had always had a gift for imagination--and seeing himself training. He saw himself standing in the darkness, a light blue aura glowing around him, his purple hair drifting casually upward. He went along with the aura, becoming one with his inner strength. He punched, and punched again watching with a smile.

He was becoming stronger quickly, much faster than he had ever thought. His mind was becoming more focused on the things that needed to be done, and other things like wants becoming extinct. In his mind he kicked the air, and as his foot touched back down on the ground a white slash appeared. The slash was a way of his mind giving strength to the idea that he wasn't just fighting nothing. He punched several times, and with each punch the same line appeared and disappeared. Sweat dripped off his imaginary body, but he continued onward, giving it his all.

Time to kick it up a notch. Trunks fired off a ki blast, and it reflected against an imaginary wall, flying back toward him. He ducked out of the way, and the ki blast bounced off the other side coming for his back. Trunks jumped up in the air, up and over the blast. The blast came around, and bounced off the front wall again, flying back at him even faster this time. This time he stood his place, and as it came closer he fired off another ki blast, canceling out the other.

One step further, thought Trunks, as he powered up. With ease he moved his right hand up, and pointed it. He sent off several ki blasts, each leaving his hand with unbelievable quickness and bouncing against the imaginary boundary. Seven or so blasts came at him, one at a time. He dodged the first one and saw the other right in front of him. He bent backward, ducking the blast. He dodged the next with a slight movement of the head, and then launched two other blasts destroying the other two.

The ones that he managed to dodge came back for him, and this time he simply turned around and destroyed them all with a quick round of blasts. With each blast an explosion occurred, sending smoke billowing outward. Suddenly Trunks could actually smell smoke, which was unusual being that he was unable to smell anything in his mind. He opened his eyes with a jerk, sitting up in his one-person seat. He looked out the front, and there before him he saw his own space ship engulfed in flames. At first he thought it was just a dream, but it was too real to be a dream. T

here before him was the planet Namek, and he was slowly entering the atmosphere. He smiled and laughed out loud, feeling thrilled at the fact that the long and tiresome journey was over with. He leaned against the window, watching with amazement as he headed toward the lush green planet below. Minutes passed as the planet became less like a giant green ball, and more like reality. Entering the atmosphere the heat in the pod gradually decreased and returned to average temperature. The space pod reached the clouds, and glided through them with ease.

He watched with excitement as the tops of the trees of Namek came into view. He could see many small buildings constructed in odd shapes–he assumed it was the Namekian style of housing. He wondered, not for the first time during his long journey, what exactly the Nameks looked like? Then he remembered Piccolo, and how he looked. Vegeta had mentioned Piccolo’s part in the battle against Frieza, and that he was one of the Namek’s. Trunks relaxed against his seat, ready to land on Namek. "Finally, I've arrived."

The space pod hit the ground at full speed creating a large crater. Trunks felt barely any of it because the ship was equipped with shock protectors, but he did feel the sense as if he was being dropped down a gutter. The space pod reminded him of their arrival, and promptly shut off awaiting for the next time it would be used, which for Trunks, didn't seem to be in the near future. He came to Namek to start over, to observe a whole new style of fighting, and to grow stronger. He pressed the hatch release button, and the top eased open causing the ship to vibrate slightly. Trunks raised the hatch all the way, creating his first step on the planet Namek.

He stepped out of the crater, dusting himself for imaginary dirt. The dirt below him was soft, and looked to be fertile. He noticed that it seemed the same color as Earth, maybe a little lighter, but they seemed overall the same. He bent over, feeling a little woozy from lack of standing or walking in the past two weeks. Cupping some of the dirt in his hands, he rolled it around in his fingers feeling its cold comfort. The dirt was indeed fertile, he could tell with a quick examination. Most importantly, the oxygen levels on Namek seemed to be the exact way it was on Earth, and it was clean as well. So far so good.

Trunks ascended out of the crater, and landed swiftly on the grass. The grass was a light blue, and the sky was green. Trunks felt weird looking, it was the exact opposite of Earth; on Earth the skies were blue and the grass was green. It was all too weird, looking at this planet, but oddly Trunks felt stricken by its beauty. Namek was covered in short grass, but the trees were a light blue as well, however, slightly darker. The likeness was amazing, but the differences were equal or more. He stood in aw, staring at the green sky.

"Hey you!" yelled a voice from behind Trunks. He turned around slowly, unsure of what he would see. Standing behind him was a group of Nameks, all resembling piccolo in features except for height and weight. "Who are you? And why have you come to our planet?" said the same voice, Trunks had heard earlier. The Namek who was speaking was a young Namek, at least to Trunks he looked young, but then again Namek's may age differently. It felt odd being the only Earthling in sight, but Trunks supposed he would get used to it. "My name's Trunks, and I come from Earth. I've come here to learn the ways of your people."

”No offence kid, but we aren't exactly open to strangers around here, at least not since . . . Darien," said another Namek. "Settle down," said a voice back in the crowd. Trunks watched in aw, as a rather short and pudgy Namek slid through the crowd, and stood in front of the group. This Namek was different from the others. He had a soft smile, a look of serenity, and he was older. "There's no possible way that this boy--Trunks is it?--could know anything about Darien," said the pudgy Namek, "We should not greet all our visitors with harsh words, and accusations. So you've come here to learn the ways of the Nameks have you?"

"Yes sir, I come from the future and in my time the androids have killed almost all the people . . . including my father," said Trunks, watching as their expressions changed to shock. The older Namek remained calm, smiling as Trunks spoke. "I came to the past in order to become stronger . . . and after training on Earth, I've come to Namek." For some odd reason Trunks felt like telling this Namek everything, but it was a good feeling, it made him feel free and complete.

"Normally we would welcome anyone from Earth, Trunks, but hard times have fallen upon us, and we're a bit leery about outsiders," said the elder Namek,"However, I see that you're telling the truth about your past, and you may be of help.My name is Elder Dane, and I find a bit of your past interesting. You mentioned that androids killed your people, did you not?" Trunks nodded his head slowly, once again feeling the need to tell the elder everything. "Yes . . . they killed everyone, and back then I was useless to do anything."

"I see. The reason we are so leery of outsiders is because of a Namek named Darien," said Elder Dane, "He's not really a Namek anymore . . . he's an android."
"An android? Are you serious?" questioned Trunks, becoming serious. An image suddenly appeared in his mind, as images usually do. It was that of one of the androids holding an old man up by his collar. The old man was bleeding profusely, and seconds away from death, but that wasn't good enough. The android simply cut his head off, sending blood spewing everywhere. He shuddered, coming back to reality.

"He wasn't always an android, in fact he was once one of my greatest students," said Elder Dane, turning his back to Trunks and looking up at the sky. He watched as if he was remembering past times, happy times. It made Trunks think about his mother. How she was all along with no one to protect her, helpless against the androids. He decided right then and there that he had to help these people, no matter what it took. He wasn't going to allow the nightmare to descend on Namek with its people always living in fear for their very lives. That was no life to live.

"Come with me Trunks, and I'll tell you the story--the rest of you may be dismissed now." The other Nameks left, walking back toward the village Trunks had seen upon arrival. They talked together in whispers, and Trunks had a feeling it was mostly about him. For some reason they didn't trust him, but he guessed he would feel the same if his planet was under siege by an android. "What do you mean he wasn't always an android?" questioned Trunks as he followed the elder. They walked in the same direction the other Nameks did, but at a slower pace.

"From my time period androids were always androids and nothing more," said Trunks almost absently. "A few scientists landed on Namek a year ago--much like you did today. Those scientists were nothing but pure evil, and they captured several of my people."
"Did they say their names?"
"They never spoke their names, only used their netting guns to capture a few of my people. Once captured they would perform experiments on them, adding machinery and changing how they acted, and perceived others."

"That's cruel!" said Trunks stopping suddenly. Elder Dane continued to walk, but stopped a few steps ahead. He turned back to Trunks, beckoning with his right hand. "Life's cruel, my boy," said Elder Dane, "Many of their experiments were failures, in fact I'd wager that the majority of them were completely failed. However, one day they managed to create what they wanted, by using Darien."

"They made him into an android. I barely recognize him anymore, the majority of him is just bits and pieces of machinery. Anyway, He killed the scientists--I guess they got what was coming to them--and since then he's killed everyone that has come into contact with him."
"Elder, how many people has he killed?"
"Thousands, and my people live in fear of his coming. Yet, I know you'll make a difference because your not as human as you seem. You're a saiyan, or at least a half-saiyan are you not?

Trunks stopped walking, out of shock that the Namek knew so much about him. It was as if he could sense his past and his upbringing in life. All the while Elder Dane continued walking.
"Half."
"As I thought, you were too innocent to be a full-blooded saiyan. I know, Trunks, that you have the power to defeat Darien, and bring peace to my people, will you do that for me?"
"Of course, sir. As I've told you, I've experienced the horrors of the androids, and I won't let it happen again."

"I apologize for my rudeness earlier," said the Namek who's voice had greeted Trunks on his arrival. "As I'm sure elder explained, these are hard times and we aren't very trustful of visitors." It was obvious to Trunks that it pained this man to speak this way. He was going against his own feeling, and relying on the knowledge of his elder. Trunks could almost feel his distrust radiating off of him. "Its understandable. I know how it's like to live in fear for your life, and it isn't a nice feeling,"

"My name is Aerie, and I'm one of Elder Dane's students," said Aerie. "You may stay here as long as you need to, it's small, but it's more comfortable than sleeping outside." They were in a small Namekian house, Aerie's. Aerie's house was odd, at least compared to the normal homes on Earth. On the outside the house's bottom was circular with a round top that extended upward. On that top was a blue circle, see through, and surrounding the circle were several jagged spikes. The inside was filled nothing but a bed--the walls were barren of anything but dull grayness. Despite the lack of color Trunks was overjoyed with the idea of sleeping in a bed again after his journey.

"Well, If you need anything, I'll be outside. Make yourself at home." Aerie left the house, closing the door behind him. Trunks watched him leave, knowing that Aerie still did not trust him. He guessed it was just in his nature. However, that was the least of Trunk's worries right now. There was an android on the loose, and killing people. Yet, he was too tired to think, much less take any action. He laid down on the bed, relaxing his muscles. Before he even realized it, he was fast asleep, the world's problems slowly leaving his mind to be forgotten until the next time he would wake up.

As Trunks slowly faded to darkness his last thoughts were of his mother. He drifted into a deep sleep, and in this sleep he dreamed of the his time period. In the dream he had just woke up, and was climbing out of bed. He saw and felt that he was still injured from his attempt to fight the androids, but part of his mind told him that it was just a dream and nothing else. He tried to listen to that part, but the dream seemed to real. Everything in his room was like it had been. The Felix the Cat clock still hung from the wall, and even worse, it was the exact time he had woke up from his injuries in reality--he remembered the time because it was all he was able to do for the next few days, stare at the clock. The clock ticked rampantly, almost in a taunting manner.

The cat seemed to stare at him, smiling and flicking its eyes. The cat's direction of sight changed, and he followed unsure of what he was going to see. Outside in the same alley where he had seen the old man being beaten by one of the androids, his mother stood. She smiled at him, and waved. Trunks waved back, and tried to say something, but found he was unable. He suddenly saw an android walking up to his mother. She didn't see the android, her eyes were still focused on Trunks. He tried to yell, and get her attention but with each attempt his voice went flat. The android picked her up, but her eyes remained focused him. They were eyes of serenity, and the same loving innocense he recognized about his mother.

The android lifted her up against the brick wall, tattered with bits of graffiti, and looked at Trunks. "You'll learn not to meddle in our business, boy."
With that being said the android returned to Bulma. It smiled at her, showing a mouth full of white teeth. Then he grasped her by the throat, and choked her. He choked her until her face lost all human traits, but still she stared at him, all smiled and innocense. Even worse, she was still waving her hand.

He screamed in horror, and woke up. He was drenched in sweat, and he could smell the horrible stench of fear. He pulled back the covers, and placed his hands against his sweat covered brow. He sat like that for several minutes, calming himself, and worrying about his mother, Bulma.

Someone screamed. At first Trunks thought he was asleep again, and it was a repeat of the same dream again, only with sound. He stood up, and saw that the sun was still out. Which was odd because by Trunks watch it was 8:30 p.m., way after dark. Then he remembered that Namek didn't have a night, it was always day time. He gave himself an imaginary slap on the head, and then the scream came again. Along with the scream he heard several shouts, one of them the most audible was "Put him down". Trunks hurried out the door, for the time being, forgetting all about his dream and his problems.

Outside he saw Aerie, eyes widened and full of fear. In front of Aerie was a Namek, no not a Namek. Perhaps at one time he had been a Namek, but there was barely any sign of the Namek he once was. The only thing that even claimed that he was a Namek was his right antenna, poking out among the metal. His body was covered in metal, all that fit his body type perfectly. He was unlike any android from Trunk's time--those androids actually resembled humans. This guy was no human or Namek, he was a complete robot. Darien held Elder Dane up by his throat, presumably about to kill him. Trunks ran at Darien, ready to fight and make up for his failure to defeat the androids in his time.

However, he was too slow. The android lifted Elder Dane up higher, and with his other hand he brought it forward smashing it into his abdomen. Purple juices flew up into the air, spraying Darien. Darien didn't seem to mind the shower, however. "No!"
shouted Aerie running to fight his last fight. For the moment, Trunks wasn't worried about Aerie. He ran and caught Elder Dane as he fell to the ground. Trunks held him there, watching as a man died. Her heard Aerie putting up a fight against Darien, but that was just background noise. All he really heard were the last words of Elder Dane.

"Trunks, ple--cough--ease end it," said Elder Dane as he collapsed against Trunk's arms, eyes still open but obvious that nothing living was there any more. Trunks gently closed his eyes and stood up, turning to face the android. During his nap he had missed so much, and he didn't know how many people were left in this village. He saw one house that was completely destroyed with only rubble remaining. One house was on fire. The android was fighting Aerie, and obviously winning. He had Aerie by the leg swinging him back and forth while Aerie attempted to fight back with punches. Trunks ran at the android as quick as he could and landed a high kick to the head, taking the android by surprise.

Darien fell to the ground, letting lose Aerie as he did so. Aerie stood beside Trunks, breathing heavily. "This is going to be tough, Aerie, but I can't do this without you," said Trunks as he turned to face Aerie. "I'm going to attack him, and when I do I want you to do the same in exactly five seconds--no more, no less." Trunks watched Aerie, waiting for any reaction. There was none except for his undying hate for Darien. He was slowly being driven mad by hate. "Listen!" said Trunks, slapping Aerie hard on the shoulder.

"Elder Dane's dead, and there's nothing that can be done about that, but you don't want that to happen to the other people of Namek." Aerie was nodding his head slowly as if his mind was barely able to accept the fact that Elder Dane was in fact dead. "I--I'll do my best," said Aerie, his confidence being slowly renewed."Good. Now remember, five seconds." Aerie nodded, and Trunks found that that was the best reaction he was going to get out of him. Meanwhile the android was watching them, and Trunks perceived that under all that metal there was a smile lurking.

Trunks ran with all of his speed, jumped in the air, and brought his left leg around. He kicked the android right in the neck, where the most damage could be caused. Darien showed no sign of any injury, he simply stood still as a statue taunting Trunks. Trunks did a back flip in the air, and charged again with a barrage of punches. Each punch landed perfectly, but none of them so much as made a scratch. Could he really be invincible? Trunks thought. Trunks wasn't going to give up yet, however. He backed off, and fired several ki blast. Each blast exited his hand in a circle of bright blue light. The blast hit perfectly, exploding on impact.

Trunks watched as the smoke cleared, waiting to see what had occurred. Just like last time the android stood tall without even a scratch. Trunks charged one more time, ready for another attack. However, this time Darien brought his right hand and sent it charging into Trunks. Trunks went flying through the air, landing on the dirt. He skidded a few feet further. Aerie ran in on the attack, hitting the android with punches and kicks just like Trunks tried, with the same effect. Trunks knew that it wasn't possible, but he was beginning to think that Darien didn't have any weakness.

He stood up on his feet, dusting himself off as he did so. He powered up, bringing power as far as it would go, then he charged again. This time his fists landed with a certain “umph”, hitting perfectly each time. Yet, still they did not have the desired effect. Darien hit Aerie, sending him flying just as he did Trunks before. He then went to hit Trunks, but Trunks managed to get his hands up in a defensive position, barely managing to block the hit. The android drew his fist back, and Trunks ran forward to only find himself being sent backward with a devastating kick. Trunks skidded across the dirt again, landing beside Aerie. They both knew that something had to change if they were going to defeat the android.

"Aerie, this guy may seem invincible, but I think there's a way to beat him, " said Trunks. "Elaborate, please," said Aerie looking back at Trunks. "Alright, if we attack him at the same time with everything we got we should be able to beat him. Ready to give it another go?"
"Ready as I'll ever be."
"Good. Now on the count of three we'll attack. One . . . two . . .three!"

Trunks and Aerie stood up on their feet and ran at the exact same time, poetry in motion. They both hit the android at the exact same time, and with each hit there was a sound like glass breaking. After several punches and kicks, the android tottered backward, nearly about to fall. Both Trunks and Aerie performed a backflip and fired off several ki blast. The blasts combined and hit the android with perfect precision. The blasts hit Darien, exploding on impact. This time billows of smoke appeared coming off of the android's body. There was bits of lighting dancing around the smoke, showing that there was some sort of short in the machinery.

The smoke continued to billow off the android, and to the surprise of Truks several Nameks stepped outside of their homes, cheering them. The Nameks had been scared, but no longer would they have to live in fear for their lives. Their nightmare was over. Although it ended a high cost. Thought Trunks as he looked toward the body of Elder Dane, which was being taken care of by several of the Nameks.

The smoke cleared and both Trunks and Aerie were surprised at what they saw. There was nothing left of the android except for bits and pieces of metal strewn across the ground. Both watched, neither saying anything. Finally Trunks broke out into laughter. Aerie looked at Trunks as if he had gone crazy, and then he too began to laugh as well. They both sat there on the ground laughing as if they were two children.
