Shaira screamed as her feet moved across the pavement. She looked behind her as she ran and could see four unknown figures chasing her. Not wanting to fall, she looked again and turned at the next corner. She could hear her chasers following swiftly behind her. Thoughts of what harm could come to her flooded her mind. She was becoming desperate. She headed up the street determined to get away. But about halfway up the bloock two more unknown figures dropped down in front of her.

"EEK!" she screamed.

She then bolted to left into an alley. The two came through now joining the chase.

"SOMEBODY HELP ME! PLEASE!" She screamed.

She kept on running. It was strange how they hadn't caught up with her yet. Perhaps she'd actually get away. There was a turn up ahead. She went right around the bend and into an opening. It appeared she'd reached the back of a building where trash was placed in the nearby dumpsters. The moment she reached this space, three of the unknown figures dropped won in front of her. She turned around, the other three were right behind here.

The look of fear came upon her eyes as she looked at her chasers. There were men dressed in black spandex with brown jackets and a matching brown trilby hats. These men were laughing devilishly as they looked at the fear in her eyes. They all drew knives at this point as well. To each side of her, she had someone creeping in closer and closer. Fear took away her ability to speak and she shut her eyes waiting for the end. That moment where she had just about accepted her fate brought about a miracle. The darkness was lit for a moment with a bright flash. It stopped the men in their tracks and seemed to almost have a blinding effect.

"It's been a while since I've been here, hasn't it?" came a voice.

Suddenly dim flood lights came on, illuminating the dark space behind the building. Shaira looked up in surprise, as did the men in black. Standing upon the flat top of the concrete wall there was a young man dressed in brown khakis, black shoes, a blue t-shirt and a brown jacket with sun glasses tilted up on his slicked back black hair. He had an expensive camera with a powerful flash attachment attached to the top.

"But I know no matter how long I go away, I can always catch criminal deeds being done in dark places." said the young figure.

A crafty smile was upon his face. His appearance was not very welcomed by the men in black.

"Get him!" Shouted one.

The young man's grin became devious smirk. He then jumped off the top of the wall. With sharp speed, he took his camera by the strap, swung it around and slashed the face of one of the men in black with it. The harsh smack knocked him back into the trash cans. The young man landed beside Shaira for a minute but then threw a kick at the 2nd of her attackers. The third was knocked down with a punch. Then he took off running into the dark alley way with the other three chasing after him.

They were just about to enter when a blue flash of light went off, causing them to draw back. Next thing they knew, someone else had emerged from the dark. This time it was a young man with a white lab coat on and a clipboard with glasses on.

"Oh, you guys don't look so great. Feeling under the weather?"

Suddenly the man threw away his clip board and went into action, his hands going beneath the white lab coat on opposite ends.

"I've got the remedy to take care of that! HYAH!"

His hands shot apart from each other. Thick long bandages were being projected from them. The three men in black were shocked to see this but before they knew it, the young man had tugged on the other ends of these bandages. Now they were caught with their arms binded tightly, standing with their feet in awkward positions.

"Grr! What the hell? Who...the fuck are you?" shouted one of them.

"He he he he. Sometimes what you see isn't always what it appears." responded the young doctor cracking smirk again.

"For instance, at times, I'm the hotshot photographer for the Dokensapato Press, Scoop Junior," he went as a screenshot of the young photographer appeared. Right after that there was a screenshot of the young doctor that appeared.

"At other times, the heroic MD of Lorimer Hospital, Doctor Junior!"

Shaira looked on in shock. Could it be??

The young doctor took the ends of the bandages by one hand now instead of two.

"But my true identity really is..." He pointed a finger to the sky and shouted, "Doragon Chi!"

The top of the finger began to glow. Then it emitted energy from the finger and swallowed him in a blinding light. Shaira watched from the distance with a look joy. The sound of something being spun around could be heard and then one could see a hand that was being used to twirl a bright red staff. It then gripped the staff and the light dimmed. Then a blur rushed out from the light before it vanished completely. Shaira turned around to see someone wearing a red headband, blue t-shirt, red pants and black boots. He had the staff raised above his head directly in front of one ray of light to produce a shining affect at the tip.

"The urban legend returns! I am the young fighter, carrier of hope...Gokou Junior!"

The men in black stared in surprise. Shaira's eyes glimmered as she stared at the young man.

He's...back! He's really back! she went.

The young fighter, Gokou Junior, proceeded lower his staff and point it directly at the men in black.

"You will change your evil ways...or be destroyed!" He said.

Then suddenly, as if wanting to wash away her hopes, she awakened. Shaira was in her own bed, the time now 2 in the morning. A dream. She was simply having a dream. Shaira laid back down upon her bed, a look of sadness upon her face. She then drifted off to sleep with one final thought in her head.

Junior, please come home.

Warm Reception! Welcome back Hiiragi Junior

Dokensapato High School 7:45am

Lex leaned back against the chair in the cafeteria and gave a yawn. He then looked to seemingly distraught Shaira.

"Another dream? You dreamt about Junior Hiiragi being Gokou Jr.?!"

"Yea, this time he saved me from being attacked in an alley," Shaira said as she yawned.

She was still groggy from having been up late last night. Lex shook his head and looked down.

"Oh Shaira, you are hopeless. First off, I'm sure Junior will be back home soon. Second, there's no way that kid is Gokou Junior. If he was, we'd have found out by now plus we'd have seen some heroics from Gokou Junior. Crime has been out of control lately. If Gokou Junior were around, he wouldn't waste a second rounding up these bad guys." Lex explained.

It had been over a month since Junior left the city. In that time span, crime had gone back up and Detective Sulley was losing business from his inability to track down the culprits of many murders that had gone on. The 10pm curfew for minors had been re-established and now most people were in fear of their lives each night. These facts alone were enough that she wished deeply for Junior's return. Lex saw that his words were doing very little to cheer Shaira up. He sighed and placed his hand on her shoulder.

"Just for the record I do miss the guy being around too. He's one the best friends I've had since I got to the school."

Shaira looked up at the ceiling with images of Gokou Jr. from her dream as well as images of Junior himself in her head. She wasn't the only one with Junior on their minds.

Hiiragi Labs: 11 AM

Dr. Fero Hiiragi sat at his office desk. He was looking through some papers in relation to some recent scientific tests he'd run recently. Things at the lab had been running smoothly lately despite the crime rate spiking. He'd hired a personal assistant as well recently who seemed to be doing a good job assisting him. Speaking of the assistant, she stood in front of his desk eagerly awaiting Dr. Hiiragi's instructions.

"As expected, the results seem to boast positive results," she said.

Mikage Osiris was a young girl about age 24-27. Recently a graduate of Hempshire University on the far side of the city, she had managed to pass an interview for personal assistant at Hiiragi Labs. This girl stood at 5ft 7 inches, long brown hair with brown eyes. She wore a professional blue blouse that went down to the knees and high heels. Generally she kept a cheerful appearance personality wise. Dr. Hiiragi looked at her with a bit of a content expression.

"So I can see. Nicely done report, Ms Osiris," responded Dr. Hiiragi.

Mikage gave a respectful bow.

"Thank you, Dr. Hiiragi-sama!"

Dr. Hiiragi began straightening up his cluttered desk. As he was doing that, he accidentally knocked a picture frame off his desk onto the floor. Immediately Mikage went to pick it up. When she picked it up she saw a picture of Dr. Hiiragi with his son, Junior. The two of them were giving a smile and thumbs up to the camera. As she handed it to Dr. Hiiragi she decided to speak.

"Excuse me, Dr. Hiiragi-sama. But may I ask who the boy is in the picture?"

Dr. Hiiragi looked at the picture. Junior looked a lot younger in the picture. As he looked at it, Dr. Hiiragi lost focus on work and began thinking about his boy.

"It's my son, Junior."

"Forgive me for asking. Did something terrible happen to him?" Mikage asked.

Dr. Hiiragi looked at the picture, a hardened expression on his face as he then saw teenage version of his son in the picture waving at him.

Don't worry, Dad! I'll be home soon, he could hear Junior's voice say. He then shook his head.

"No, he's fine. He's just been away a while," said Dr. Hiiragi.

"Ah, I see. He's gone off to college then. It was tough for my parents when I left home. I'm sure wherever he is, he's thinking of you." Mikage said.

Junior's face image flooded Dr. Hiiragi's mind shortly after Mikage's response.

Sulley Detective Agency: 3 PM

Inside the office of this detective agency, a very angry client had paid a visit to Detective Sulley. Sulley jumped back as the client's fist hit his own desk.

"Three days, Detective! It's been three days since I hired your sorry ass and my son still hasn't been found! I'm paying money for you to sit around clueless!? I thought you were one of the best in the city! Your name is all over the fuckin papers for crying out loud!"

Sulley looked nervous as he tried to think of some way to respond. Eventually he put his hands on the desk and did so.

"This has not been very easy. There have been next to no leads. I'm doing everything I can," said Sulley.

"Well obviously, everything you can do is not enough! I'm giving you 24 hours to present me some information on my son's kidnapping, detective! 24 hours! If you haven't anything to show then I'll hire someone who can actually do his job! Then I'll see to it you're never hired to even solve a crossword puzzle."

The client turned around and stormed out the office, slamming the door shut on his way out. Sulley sunk back down onto his chair and exhaled. It was like he'd fallen back into the days before Gokou Jr. showed up in Dokensapato to fight Panther Claw. At this rate, his detective agency was in serious trouble. Frustrated, Sulley opened the top right desk drawer in hopes of reviewing some gathered facts about this case. When he reached the drawer's opening limit, it shook the drawer and slid the papers inside backwards. As he was reaching for the ones on top, he noticed the head of a photo sticking out.

"What's this?"

Sulley pulled it out of the drawer for a closer look. It was a picture of him and Junior. In the picture as well were Lex and Shaira. He remembered the day this picture was taken. It was right after one of Junior's soccer games. Junior still had his team uniform on. Sulley frowned.

This kid's been gone a while. Normally, he's always around getting in my way. But it's almost as if he disappeared. Hate to say it but this is one time I wish that nuisance was actually around.

He then looked up toward his front door. He did a double take. He could see a faint image of Junior sitting with his back facing Sulley. The phantom-like image of Junior turned his head and gave a cheeky smile.

"Looks like you've seen better days, Sulley-kun." it said.

Sulley grew angry.

"Cheeky as ever! Wait till you get home, kid!"

The phantom Junior waved at him.

"We'll see about that."

After that, the phantom vanished. Sulley was about to get angrier when suddenly he realized he was talking to a figment of his imagination. He sat back down in the chair and sighed.

I must be losing it to go talking to myself like this. All I know is that kid had better come back soon.

Sulley hated to admit it but Junior was more help to him than harm. As this mindset crossed him, memories of Junior flooded his mind as well.

==================

5 PM...

Dr. HIiragi entered his apartment, having taken an early leave from work. Plenty of his work had followed him home, however. So it would not be a restful night for him. He might even have had to go back to the office. His ears listened to the quiet of his apartment and he sighed for a moment. It was like it was when Junior lived back in Hopset; empty, quiet, and some how lonely. He was about to sit down when a knock came upon his door. Going back to the door, he opened it and was surprised to see Sulley standing there.

"Detective!" said Dr. Hiiragi.

"Doctor." responded Sulley.

"What brings you here?" Dr. Hiiragi asked.

"That son of yours. Is he home yet?" Sulley asked.

"Sorry, still no word from him. His two friends Shaira and Lex keep stopping by here hoping to find him here too."

Sulley stomped his foot on the ground.

"Damn it! What kind of case could he be working on that would have him gone for an entire month?"

Dr. Hiiragi bit his bottom lip. Having built the ship, Junior took off in, he could easily explain Junior was in outer space. Explaining why was the challenge.

"Well I'm not sure. But apparently it's more complicated than your missing child's case. But sorry, he's not here to help you."

Sulley had paid Dr. Hiiragi several visits in the past few days seeking help for his investigation. Frustrated enough, Dr. Hiiragi's words only added salt to the wound.

"I don't need his help. Just would be nice to have someone around to see how brilliant I am." Sulley responded.

Dr. Hiiragi coughed.

"So you're purposely delaying the investigation for 3 whole days? If Junior were here he'd have probably already found the missing child for you. So relax, I'm not hiding my son from you."

"What!?" Sulley barked back.

"Well, as fun as it is to see you back here on yet another afternoon, I do have work to do, Detective. Don't worry, if I hear from Junior I'll make sure to tell him of your trouble."

Dr. Hiiragi then shut the door. He sighed and shook his head. He was walking toward the table when his house phone started to ring. He walked over to the phone and viewed the caller ID. Unknown number. Dr. Hiiragi usually didn't answer these calls but seeing as how he rarely received calls this late from blocked numbers, he took a chance. He picked up the phone and placed it up to his ear.

"Hiiragi residence." he said.

Shortly after that, his eyes grew wide and his mouth opened. He revealed a shocked expression.

---------------------------

5:25 PM

Shaira was sitting in the park. Her mind was still on the dream she had the night before. As she stared at the ground in a daze her thoughts rambled about, thinking about the last time she saw Gokou Jr. The last time they had met, she was just a young girl in the town of hopset. Having been kidnapped, Gokou Jr fought to save her life.

It seems like it was yesterday I had last seen him. But I'll never forget what he did for me. I'll also never forget the sense of familiarity that he had. Looking in his eyes, I could swear I was looking at Junior.

She could feel it deep down. The hero who rescued her from danger so long ago was still there. Junior had been gone for far too long in her opinion. He'd missed a month of school, his soccer team was struggling for its wins currently and a lot of people were beginning to question his whereabouts. She was starting to feel it would be necessary to begin an investigation. Getting up she got this determined look in her eyes and was about to head over to Junior's apartment to interrogate Dr. Hiiragi. However the second she did that, her cell phone began to go off.

She reached into her pocket and pulled it out. Her phone was showing a blocked number. Curious as to who would call with a blocked number, she held it up to her ear and hit the accept button.

"Hello?" she said.

"Your voice sounds as nice as ever, Shaira."

The moment she heard the response, her eyes began to tear up, her lips trembling as she wanted to cry.

---

Moments after that she was seen running up the street. She was reaching the corner when Lex showed up there as well. She was surprised to see Lex there.

"Lex?" she went.

"Shaira, did you get a call too?" Lex asked.

"I did! I won't believe it till I see it though," she said.

"Makes two of us."

At that same moment, a car pulled up to the corner. The teens turned in its direction. The window rolled down and out poked Dr. Hiiragi's head.

"Shaira, Lex, I just got a call from..."

"We did too!" Shaira and Lex shouted.

"Hurry, get in!" Dr. Hiiragi instructed.

Shaira and Lex wasted no time getting into the car. Dr. Hiiragi's car then peeled off. They arrived at the train station about a half hour later. Dr. Hiiragi parked his car quickly and soon the trio was seen running to the inside of the building.

I can't believe it! Lex thought.

After a month of being gone without a trace... Dr. Hiiragi thought.

Shaira had tears forming in her eyes as she ran. Soon she spotted someone ahead she recognized.

"There! It's him!"

Standing there now turning to face them, wearing a white jacket, glasses, blue jeans, red and white sneakers and blue t-shirt was none other than...

"JUNIOR!!!" shouted the three.

Junior barely had a moment to speak before Shaira jumped into his arms, hugging him tightly. Lex put his arm around Junior's shoulder, using his free hand to rub Junior's head roughly.

“Junior! I thought I'd never see you again!” Shaira sobbed

Junior's expression of surprise was plastered upon his face.

“Was I really gone that long?” Junior asked.

Lex looked down at Junior taking his hands off of him.

“Sure seemed like it! Boy, you really gave Shaira quite the trip.”

Dr. Hiiragi approached Junior but said nothing. The two locked eyes for a moment. Junior soon put on his steely grin. The two didn't need words to understand each other.

I see. You were worried too, huh? Junior thought.

Dr. Hiiragi gave a nod.

“It's good to have you back.”

Junior looked down at Shaira. She was looking up at him with tears in her eyes. She'd not had Junior staring at her with his eyes in what felt like forever. He could understand her feelings. For a while it seemed like he would never get home either. There was a feeling of comfort having friends and family around. He had returned. Lex shook his head.

“Alright, let's get out of here before I need a barf bag,” he said.

Dr. Hiiragi gave a slight chuckle. Before long the four headed out of the station toward Dr. Hiiragi's car. Junior and his friends were about to hop into the car when suddenly Dr. Hiiragi turned to Junior.

“I hate to spoil the reunion, but I think Sulley would benefit from a visit by you, son.”

Junior was surprised just then. But when he looked at his father and saw a serious expression on his face, Junior knew there might be something wrong.

“I see. I'll head over right now.”

Suddenly, Junior's arm was grabbed by Shaira. Junior turned to her.

“Not without me.” she said.

“Shaira?”

“You just got back home, Junior. If you're going to disappear for another month, I'm disappearing with you!” Shaira sternly declared.

Junior was hard pressed for a reply. Looking to Lex, he could tell Lex also felt the same. Junior was not going anywhere on his own. A glare came over his glasses as he gave a grin.

“So it's like that, huh? Fine. I'll need you two ready to assist.”

Lex and Shaira looked to each other with a smile. Then they looked back to Junior.

“You got it!” they said.

Junior had a grin on his face. In a way, he missed their gung-ho. Dr. Hiiragi knew where he was going just then.

Sulley sat in his office looking over some notes. There was a strong sense of frustration present. He'd been looking over the facts of the case for some time now and it seemed he was not able to make headway. The angry words of the missing victim's father echoed in his head, further corrupting his concentration. It wasn't long before he knocked all the papers off his desk, banging his fists down on the wooden surface.

“DAMN! WHY CAN'T I FIGURE THIS OUT!?!” he shouted.

He laid his head on the desk and growled. The air of his frustration reached a disruption just then.

“The eyes of the frustrated cannot perceive the truth,” came a voice.

Sulley looked up to see Junior, hands in his pockets, leaned up against the opened doorway. He was staring at Sulley with a serious look on his face. Sulley growled.

“You again!? How dare you haunt me at a time like this! I won't be tortured by imagination!”

Junior had a sweat drop appear on his fore head as his eyes became two black dots.

“Should I wonder why you think I'm imaginary?” Junior asked.

“What?” Sulley quipped.

“I was gone for a while but I didn't think even you'd miss me that much to imagine me here.”

Shaira and Lex then entered the room. Lex looked over to Junior.

“See, told ya he was losing it.” Lex said.

Sulley got up and went over to Junior's group.

“It's really you!”

Junior shook his head.

“Of course it's me. You've gone off the deep end since I left it seems. Got any other imaginary friends I should know about?”

Sulley's anger boiled again.

“Now wait just a damn minute!”

Junior simply walked by Sulley and began to pick up the papers he had on the floor. It was a strange how a month could feel like an eternity. Junior thought about how much things had stayed the same with everybody while he was gone. But it seemed crime jumped to the front seat during his time away as well.

“So I heard about the missing child. Shaira and Lex filled me in on the case. You've been dragging your feet. That's bad. Our victim may not be alive anymore.” Junior stated.

Sulley had an angered face on, growing angrier as Junior talked. Junior took a look at him for a moment and shook his head.

“Being angry with me won't find the boy. Now I need to see all notes you have on the case to date.”

There's been too much time wasted. If I'm going to re-establish Sulley's reputation, I have to act fast on this one.

Several moments later, order had been restored to Sulley's office. Sulley's case notes had been gathered together and now he had pictures of the missing boy.

“So this is Colin Topaz, age 11?” Junior asked.

Sulley gave a nod.

“Yes. The story is that he had been abducted from his home at around 1:30 am 4 days ago.”

That complicates things quite a bit. Junior thought.

“Let's see. I see nothing in your notes about a ransom. There wasn't one found?”

“No, there was no ransom note.”

Junior's eyes narrowed. In order to make more sense of this entire thing I have to pay a visit to the victim's home.

“Sulley, we need to go back to the crime scene,” Junior said.

“Kinda difficult. The Mr. Topaz's been so angry with me, getting access into his home is probably not the best idea,” Sulley responded.

“It is if he wants his son back alive,” Junior said.

Junior pulled out his cell phone. His father had graciously returned it to him before they came over here. Junior started toward the front door turning to his friends as he bolted out.

“Can you guys wait here? I have to call in a favor.”

Shaira and Lex were confused.

Several moments later....

At the Topaz residence, Mr. Fred Topaz was pacing frantically around his home when suddenly the phone rang. He immediately picked it up and put it to his ear.

“HELLO?”

“Mr. Topaz! It's Detective Sulley!”

Mr. Topaz went into a rage.

“YOU HACK! YOU BETTER HAVE SOME NEWS ABOUT MY SON!” He shouted.

“Pipe down and listen,” went Sulley.

In actuality, Junior had called up Mr. Topaz. He had his voice changer up to the receiver, set to Sulley's voice pitch.

Best thing my father ever made for me.

“Now listen up. If you were smart, you left the crime scene free of tampering, right?”

“What!? HOW DARE YOU...”

“ANSWER THE QUESTION MR. TOPAZ! IS THE CRIME SCENE AS IT WAS THE DAY YOUR SON WAS DISCOVERED MISSING!?” Junior shouted.

Mr. Topaz was brought to a disposition of shock.

“Yes, detective. The scene has remained untouched.”

“Good! I'll be over with my assistant. I need another look at the crime scene. Till I get there you stay put and don't do anything!”

Junior then hung up the phone. He looked at the voice changer attachment. Placing it in his shirt pocket, he proceeded to head back upstairs into Sulley's office. Everybody was standing where he had left them

“Sulley, I got us access to the crime scene again. Mr. Topaz assured me the scene was left as it was. Come on!”

Lex and Shaira followed Junior out.

“The Teen Detective Squad, back in action!” Lex said.

Sulley just watched them leave for his car.

How does he do things like that?

Sulley proceeded toward the car. It wasn't long before they were off to the house of Mr. Topaz. The house turned out to be a very large colonial house. Shaira stared at the house in awe.

“It's amazing!”

Sulley simply nodded. Then he headed up the front walk toward the door. Lex followed behind him. Junior was about to go when Shaira hesitated. Immediately, he noticed. Shaira had a questioning look about her.

“Junior, I wanted to...”

Junior was curious and stared back. Shaira gripped her arms tightly with her hands as she looked down. Junior had a smile on his face knowing what she wanted to say. He took her by the hand.

“I won't leave you behind for that long ever again,”

She smiled in response to his words. Her eyes glimmered. But there was more to it than that. Her lips remained closed to the truthful words she wanted to speak.

What I really wanted to ask was.... She thought.

She saw a brief image of Gokou Jr. from her dream. But she let it be for now, following Junior to the house, her hand in his. She wanted to believe him and right before she began to focus on the task at hand, she started to do just that.

The door opened after Sulley knocked on it. Mr. Topaz, red faced angry was standing there.

“Detective, this better be good! I'm about fed up with you!”

Junior proceeded to step around Sulley. He adjusted his glasses.

“Oh make no mistake about it Mr. Topaz. This visit will put a lot of things in perspective for Detective Sulley,” he reassured.

Sulley looked at Junior confused. It became clear to him that Junior had said something to convince Mr. Topaz to go through with this.

“Detective, I took the liberty of getting the crime scene photos from the police as you requested.”

Junior pulled photos from his jacket and handed them to Sulley. He immediately gave Sulley a wink. Sulley then proceeded to put on his professional look.

“Thank you assistant! Now Mr. Topaz, if you please, I need to see your son's room.”

“Fine! It's this way. But who are these other two kids with you.”

Lex puffed up his face in anger. “Kids? I'll have you know that we're...”

Junior placed his hand over Lex's mouth.

“They're with us,”

Mr. Topaz lead the group upstairs to Colin's room. The door was opened and immediately Sulley and Junior compared the pictures to the room's appearance. Junior gave a nod.

Good, the scene seems completely left as is sans evidence. But I wanna have a closer look at the windows in particular.

“So what are we looking for here?” Sulley whispered.

Junior motioned Sulley to follow him. They went over to the window of the room. Sulley and Junior examined the window which was slightly ajar. Junior's eyes scanned the window completely so to speak. He then compared to one picture of the window.

Just as stated. No signs of forced entry.

“Mr. Topaz, sir. This window was like this night your son turned up missing right? Before he went to bed?” Junior asked.

“No. Colin sleeps with the window closed.” Mr. Topaz answered.

“Junior, I already covered this. The kidnapper likely didn't use the window to abduct the kid.” Sulley said.

Junior looked back outside.

Well of course not. This window isn't designed to open more than halfway. That's not enough for a kidnapper to abduct Colin from here. To top it all off this room is located on the 2nd floor. The kidnapper wouldn't have been able to carry Colin down even if he had a ladder.

“Well thanks for letting us up here.”

Junior exited the room. He left the everyone bewildered just then.

“That's it? We came here just to see the room?” Lex said.

Junior had his hand up to his chin. He had that look of thought on his face. Shaira recognized it immediately. Her hands pressed against each other and she hoped Junior would have the next step planned soon. She then looked and saw one of the crime photos on the floor. She picked it up and handed it over to Junior.

“Junior, you dropped this.” She said.

Junior looked at the picture and shook his head.

“Hmm? Thanks, Shaira. But, I didn't drop....” suddenly his eyes widened as looked at the photo.

Junior then turned to Sulley.

“Detective, notice anything unusual in this photo?” Junior asked.

Sulley looked at the photo. He shook his head.

“Junior, it's just a zoomed out picture of the room.”

A glare came over Junior's glasses just then.

“Is it really?” he said.

Suddenly, Sulley was forced to look closer.

“There was no sign of forced entry through either this door or the window. Our kidnapper didn't have to do anything ridiculously clever to pull this off.” Junior said.

Sulley then noticed something in the photo.

“You see it now, huh?” Junior asked.

“Yes, there's a piece of carpet clumped up that doesn't match with the rest of the floor carpeting. But then that means...”

Junior walked over to the same spot on the floor. The carpet had been laid flat and now blended in with the rest. Junior began poking around on the floor.

“No sign of forced entry in either the door or window. The window as it's set up couldn't have accommodated a very hasty escape nor a silent one. Our kidnapper wanted it to be believable that someone from the outside committed this crime, when all the while it was someone inside.” Junior explained.

“What are you getting at kid?” said Mr. Topaz.

Junior had a clothe cutter and began cutting into the carpet. Once he had cut through enough of the carpet he began to pull it off. Sulley had a grin on his face.

“A criminal always needs a point of entry and escape right? So he used one that was hidden from plain sight!” Sulley explained.

Junior pulled off enough carpet to reveal a hatch door. All eyes laid on it in shock except Sulley and Junior.

“Any guesses as to where this will take us? Or does our very own Mr. Topaz want to fill us in on his own?” Junior said.

“What do you mean!?” he shouted.

Junior pointed to Sulley.

“Only someone who knew the layout of this house would even think to use this for the means of kidnapping.” Sulley explained.

“But Detective, Junior, shouldn't we see if Colin is actually down there?” Shaira asked.

Junior had a grin on his face.

“He's down there.”

Junior opened the hatch door and climbed down the ladder there. Sulley had his hands in his pockets now.

“For three days I checked every possible lead. I looked at every possible suspect and looked at any clues I could find many times over. I checked every last one of them except for one. Mr. Topaz I didn't consider you a suspect because I had hoped that you wouldn't be cruel as to kidnap your own son.”

Junior went into a basement level hallway and had reached a door at the end. Inside the door was a wine closet. There sat 11 year old Colin, asleep and tied up. Junior gave a nod, proceeded to wake the boy up and undo his bindings.

“But it seems that I had hoped wrong. You snuck into your own son's room 3 nights ago, lead him down that hatch. You probably convinced him there was something you wanted to show him. That was why there was no struggle. He trusted his own father. Not that I could blame him. I'd like to believe I could trust my own father as well.”

“Detective! You're throwing wild accusations with no proof! How dare you!” Went Mr. Topaz.

“Ah, but there is. In the photo here, this clump of the carpet that doesn't match with the rest of the carp; when my assistant poked around just now, he had to cut the carpet out to reveal this door. Before that, it had likely been a carpet patch that could be removed with ease. I didn't think anything of it when I saw it but then again genius can take some time to settle in. There is very likely proof that you had someone redo this carpet during the 3 days I spent under pressure by you to find your son. You never thought I'd need to come back to the crime scene but it turns out I did.”

Soon after finishing this explanation, Colin appeared at the hatch entrance. Lex and Shaira ran over to help him up into the room. Junior then appeared in sight and he gave Sulley the thumbs up. Sulley then gave a nod.

“You played the role of a freaked out father very well when you called the police and myself over here. I wouldn't have been the wiser if not for this photo.” Sulley explained.

“I'm still not seeing how any of this ties in with Mr. Topaz. Couldn't someone who lived here or worked in the house have done it?” Shaira asked.

“Yeah. But only Mr. Topaz could have had the carpet redone to hide this hatch door. No reason to do that if he's not the kidnapper.” Sulley explained.

“Yeah besides, there's quite the wine closet down there. With more than one way to get in there why would anyone but the owner of the house have this one sealed off?” Junior added in.

“When I suggested we come back here, I was hoping there would be something at the window that had not been noticed. But in actuality it was the floor that needed a closer look.”

“The only question now is why would you kidnap your own son then hire me to find him?” Sulley asked.

Junior chimed in again.

“That one I'm afraid is an easy one, Detective. You're the same Mr. Topaz who had his first son taken and killed by members of Panther Claw right?” Junior went.

Shaira's eyes quivered at the mention of Panther Claw. Junior also had a frustrated expression on his face. Mr. Topaz was on his knees his shut tight.

I remember that day. Junior thought.

“Joseph was my first son. He had everything going for him. He was about to graduate high school and had a gotten a 4-year full scholarship to Lorimer University. So I gave him a ring, my grandfather's class ring that had last name of our family etched in jade. It was a family heirloom.”

Panther Claw went after it and kidnapped Joseph. Sulley and I had tried to save him but... Junior thought.

“He was killed by those ruthless monsters! You were there, detective! You could have saved my son!” Mr. Topaz cried.

That was one of two times a battle against Panther Claw did not have a happy ending. Junior thought.

“So you decided to stage a kidnapping and have me investigate, hoping I'd fail so you could ruin my good name.” Sulley said.

Junior folded his arms and looked the other direction in annoyance.

Good name? If not for me you wouldn't even have a name. Junior thought.

“That was one of two events that made Gokou Jr. put away his heroics,” Junior explained.

Shaira looked at him just then. Mr. Topaz look grief-stricken. Junior just glanced at him with a frown.

Quote:

With Colin found, things quickly got wrapped up.  It turns out that Colin willingly participated in the kidnapping.  He understood his father's grief over his older brother.  Still, since Mr. Topaz had falsified a police report, there was a bit legal action taken.  At the plea of Colin, Mr. Topaz got off simply by paying a fine.  Detective Sulley reconciled with Mr. Topaz over the events that lead to his first son's death.  As for me however...

Junior stood at the edge of the rooftop above Sulley's office. He was staring into the sky when Sulley and Shaira joined him. He didn't turn his head to them at all. Shaira decided to be the first to speak.

“Junior...”

He kept his head to the sky but had his ears perk up.

“When you said one of two events that lead to Gokou Jr's disappearance, what was the other one?”

Junior had a glare come over his glasses as he saw the events that took place 5 years ago.

“In the final battle against Panther Claw, Gokou Jr. showed up just in time like he usually did. It was the battle where Zora Senshi was defeated. Everything he did was on cue. But somehow, Zora Senshi managed to leave her mark on Gokou Jr. before dying. My grandmother was killed in that battle.”

“But how do you know the details? You weren't even there.” Sulley asked.

It was then that Shaira looked at him a bit harder. Her suspicions were being reawoken.

“Gokou Jr delivered the news to me personally. Seeing how I had taken it, Gokou Jr. decided then with Panther Claw defeated, his mission was over. He did not want to be responsible for anyone else losing someone close to them. So he left after that and promised he'd never cause pain like he'd caused for me.”

A tear rolled down Junior's cheek as he saw the face of his late grandmother in his own mind.

“It was the last time I'd seen or heard from Gokou Jr.”

He then turned to Sulley and Shaira, revealing his tears. At the same time he saw a memory of 10 yr old Junior Hiiragi. He took off his red headband and wristbands placing them in a drawer at his desk.

It was the end of Gokou Jr Hiiragi.....

Then he put on a pair of glasses that he had laying on the desk

And the birth of the new Junior Hiiragi.

A week later...

It wasn't long after my return home that Sulley's name began to be restored to its previous prestige.  Case after case, the people's faith in the detective began to revive.  With a little help from me, cases got solved no more than 2 days.  But even as the number of unsolved cases took drastic drops, the number of crimes committed did not seem to follow suit.  Thus my frustration began to fluster.

Junior sat at Sulley's desk, puzzling over a some notes that lay spread out in front of him. Sulley entered the room, noticing Junior sitting there at the desk. He sighed and shook his head.

He's been sitting like that for over an hour. He must really be putting something together there. I wonder if he's gotten anything figured out yet?

Junior stared at one of the pieces of notes on the table. Sulley couldn't see it over the glare of Junior's glasses but there was a sense of serious frustration.

UGH! I BEEN STARING AT THIS FOREVER! WHY CAN'T I FIGURE THIS OUT!?

The notes gathered were what information had been put together from a hit and run disaster the previous day. Junior had taken the liberty of trying to make sense of the information and determine a scenario. But so far he'd come across a dead end no matter which way he played the crime out. Plus the victim had left a dying message in the letters “J-U-N”.

If I could figure out what those letters mean. I'd put this together and have a culprit!

Sulley set a bottle of juice on the table. Junior's attention was drawn away from the notes. Sulley was looking down at him with a frown.

“If you stare at those notes any harder you'll put a hole through them,” said Sulley.

Junior sat back in the chair and took a deep breath, grabbing the juice bottle. He opened it and took a sip.

“Sorry, I just wish I could put this together somehow,” Junior said.

“Beginning to think I should start paying you,” Sulley responded.

Junior stared at him.

Paying me? I should be running your agency. He thought.

“Shouldn't you be home getting ready to go out with your dad anyway?” Sulley asked.

“No way. Even though I was invited to come with Dad to his dinner banquet with Ridgewood Corp. I'd be too focused on this case to enjoy myself,” Junior responded.

“Well call up that girl you always hang out with. Shaira? I think she'd love it if you spent more time with her,” Sulley said.

Junior was looking curiously.

“Take it from me, kid. It's not easy for a detective to get a girlfriend.”

Junior's face turned pinkish red.

“She's not my girlfriend, Sulley!”

Sulley gave a sarcastic smirk.

“Right, and you're just blushing because its hot in here. Anyway, go ahead and spend time with her. You've only been back for a few weeks and seems you're always running behind me. I can do a little detective work on my own you know.”

Junior looked away from Sulley.

It is true. I haven't been spending much time with Shaira since I been back. She was all I could think about when I was on Kelioux.

“Fine! I'll head out for a bit. Try to have something done by the time I get back.”

Junior hopped out of the chair. He then walked out the door. Sulley just stared at his back.

That kid is something else. Somehow he's managed to amaze me as much as Gokou Jr. did a couple years ago.

-------

Later that evening...

Junior and Shaira were walking down the street together. They had just left a movie theater.

“It was really nice of you to take me out to a movie, Junior.” she said.

Junior shook his head and grinned.

“Sure no prob.”

Shaira put on a bit of a sheepish expression as she looked away.

“I was starting think you were avoiding me,” she said.

Junior looked at her with concern.

“I wouldn't avoid you. Just it's been really busy,” Junior said.

Shaira sighed and shook her head.

“I know. You just can't turn down a detective case,” she said.

Seeing the sad look on Shaira's face put one on Junior's face as well. He had to understand how Shaira was feeling and it made him feel bad. But he smiled as best as he could anyway.

“At least we're spending this time together now. I mean it hasn't been just you and me since...”

“We lived in Hopset?” Shaira interrupted.

“Eh, yeah.”

Junior turned his glance back to the street. Shaira did the same. Soon she was smiling again as well.

“Those were fun times back then, Junior. Playing in the park together and helping you do chores with your grandmother.”

Junior had a nostalgic feeling thinking about it. But when his mind began to dwell on Panther Claw, he decided to change the subject.

“So that was some movie huh?” Junior said.

Shaira shook her head. “It was actually. The ending was sort of predictable though.”

Junior shook his head in response. Suddenly he felt something from behind him and immediately turned his head. There was a scowl on his face. Shaira reacted along with him. It was then Junior realized they were on a dimly lit street block.

Shit, how did we end up here?! Junior thought.

“JUNIOR!”

He turned immediately toward Shaira. She had been grabbed from behind and had a knife up to her neck. Junior's eyes went wide in shock. The guy holding her at knife point was dressed in all black except a jacket which was brown over it.

“Well what have we here? You two look lost.”

Junior's mind flashed an image of an enemy from his past and he quivered in shock.

“Panther...Claw...”

Junior stared at the thug in black in disbelief. Shaira was frozen in fear. Junior looked like he was about ready to do something when suddenly Shaira shut her eyes and screamed.

“JUNIOR BEHIND YOU!”

It was like a bad nightmare when Junior turned around to see four more guys in the same attire, all holding knives.

“You might want to hold off on playing hero, kid. That is unless you want to see a knife go across your girlfriend's neck.”

Junior, now frozen in place now began to feel the sinking feeling of helplessness. He looked at Shaira's expression of fear. Fear then began to enter his mind.

“JUNIOR HELP ME!”

“Who are you people anyway!?” Junior shouted.

“Heheheh! Ever hear of Cryptic Nightmare?” spoke one of them.

Junior and Shaira's eyes widened in shock. Cryptic Nightmare was a gang that had gathered in the lower side of the city. They had stolen some of a serum that Dr. Hiiragi had developed designed to be a sort of super steroid to enhance the muscles of elder folks. It could only mean the gang had used the serum on its members to create abnormally strong people amongst their group. It was like something Junior had faced in the past.

“I see you have! Then you know we like to take what we want. This pretty girl seems to mean a lot to you! So we'll just help ourselves to her.”

Junior's desperation to protect Shaira grew to fever pitch and he rushed in.

“No...you...WON'T!” Junior shouted as he ran forward.

Before he could reach Shaira and her captor, one of the others stepped in, driving his knee into Junior's gut. Next Junior knew, he was being thrown aside. His body hit the back of a wall, dropping behind some gathered trash bags. He could hear the sounds of laughter after he fell.

“Heheh! What a chump! You can't stand up to us,”

Junior pulled himself up slightly.

“Sh...Shaira!” He shouted.

“JUNIOR!”

“We'll be on our way. Don't worry about your girlfriend! She's in good, better capable hands.”

“Shaira!!” Junior shouted as he got up.

The guy holding her captive dipped into the darkness of the alley nearby followed by the four that was with him.

“JUNIOR!!!” he heard her scream.

Junior ran into the alley after them.

“Shaira! Shaira, answer me! Where are you?!”

Vanished! The thieves had vanished without a trace. Junior's eyes quivered in shock before he threw his head back, dropped to his knees and shrieked.

“SHAIRA!!!!!”

--------------------------

Police had gathered to the scene, Sulley and Lex as well.

“Cryptic Nightmare you say?” Lex said.

Sulley was scowling with anger.

“I'd heard of the gang but had yet to encounter a serious case with them other than the break-in of your father's lab,” Sulley said.

Junior pounded the pavement with his fists.

“ARGH! I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO SOMETHING!” Junior screamed.

Lex and Sulley hadn't seen Junior this upset in a long time and we surprised. Lex was the first person to try and comfort him.

“Come on, Jr. You're a super sleuth. You should be able to track her down in no time at all.”

Junior continued to look at the ground in despair. The sound of Shaira's scream was still present in his mind. Sulley looked over to Junior with a serious expression.

“Yeah, you have to snap out of it else she's as good as gone. Besides you're the one that is likely to find her the quickest. So quit sobbing like a child and start thinking like a detective.”

Junior's breathing went to a total calm state. Then he nodded his head.

Sulley is right. I have to be able to think clearly or Shaira is lost for good.

He stood up and look over to Sulley with a deadly expression in his eyes.

“Sulley, the guys who took her; they looked like Panther Claw agents,” he said.

Sulley looked surprised. “Panther Claw!?”

“Yes, I know it's not them but the resemblance was too spooky to dismiss.”

Sulley gripped his fists tightly and began to growl. Junior was growling as well. He could never forget their faces. They had caused so much pain and suffering in the past. Now it was if someone had shown up to take their place. With his head down, Junior had only one thought on his mind.

Shaira...
---------------

Somewhere in the city...

Shaira was strapped down to a chair in a dimly lit room. She could hear the laughter of people around her. But she couldn't see anyone. It was a scary scenario without a doubt.

“Are you scared little girl? You should be. Heheh!”

Shaira scowled as she peered into the darkness around her.

“What do you want with me!?” She asked.

A sinister voice answered her question.

“With you in particular, absolutely nothing. But you will help me get what I want.”

Shaira saw someone coming toward her in the darkness. It was a man, wearing a black baseball cap, jacket, pants and shoes. He stood there looking at her beneath the coverage of his baseball cap.

“It would seem you are a close friend to Dr. Fero Hiiragi. He and I have unfinished business.”

“Who are you?” Shaira asked.

“Nelson Figaros. I see you've met some of my friends.” he answered.

The group of guys who had kidnapped her then emerged from the darkness. Shaira stayed strong and tried not to show fear.

“You're the leader of Cryptic Nightmare?” Shaira asked.

“Heheh? Me? Not at all! The leader is a bigger fish than any of us here.”

“She’s a pretty one Nelson,” spoke one of the cronies.

“Well I need her in one piece guys. So try not to go too crazy!”

Nelson then proceeded to head for where the door was to the room. Shaira was then left to be at the mercy of his followers. She closed her eyes tightly so as not to look at them.

Junior, please find me! She pleaded in thought.
-----------

Hiiragi residence…

Junior sat in his room distraught beyond disbelief. He looked as if the world had crashed down on him. He replayed the scenario of Shaira’s kidnapping over and over.

I couldn’t stop them from taking her. Why couldn’t I stop them? He thought.

He got up and started pacing around, trying to focus his thoughts.

I don’t get it! I’ve always been able to come through for my friends when needed. Shaira especially! I never failed to protect her. How could I this time!? HOW!?

Junior’s mind flashed through many events of his and Shaira’s past. With each one he began to seep deeper into despair. After several times pacing, he threw himself on the bed putting his face down on the mattress.

“I might have lost her forever!” he said.

Suddenly, at that darkest moment of despair, a breeze pushed open the windows by his bed. It got his attention sure enough and he decided to get up and close the windows. As he was going to close the windows, he noticed something outside on the window sill. He took a closer look at it only to discover it to be a white lily flower. He looked at the flower, picking it up into his hand.

“This flower…I’ve seen it before.”

His eyes then widened as he saw the image of a man in his mind for a moment. He then looked down to where the street was. Sure enough, in a grey overcoat, was a familiar figure from his past. It was a man with long flowing silver hair. In his hand was the same white flower Junior was holding in his hand.

“You? What are you doing here?” Junior asked.

The man continued to stare silently. Junior felt that calm rush over him as it had once before a long time ago. It was the man he’d dubbed the Twilight Prince as a young boy. Junior waited for him to speak. It was unexplainable how this man was able to calm him in his deepest moment of despair. The man lifted the flower in his hand to his nose. He closed his eyes and inhaled the scent.

“Gokou…”

Junior’s reaction stifled his movements. It had been some time since he was called by that name.

“The winds of destiny have chosen to blow your way again. As a detective, you waged a never ending war to unearth the truth. Over the years your keen eye and instincts have sharpened and you have become an amazing investigator.” He spoke.

The man then lowered the flower from his nose and looked to Junior.

“But your truth has yet to be found. You must continue your path in order to find it.”

My truth…over the years this Twilight Prince has mysteriously appeared over and over again. He’s spoken of “the truth” so many times. One of the reasons I became a detective is because of it. But…

“What is this truth you keep talking about?” Junior asked.

The prince gave a slow singular nod.

“Follow your path. Then you will know. You have a great ability for uncovering other people’s truths. But for what lies on the end of your path, you require the use of a power greater than that; a power you once embraced with open arms. If you use it, you will find the truth.”

Junior dwelled in thought over the man’s words. It wasn’t long before he saw images from his past again. He remembered the days of being a hero.

That’s right. There was a time I had the power to do anything. I was always there when needed. But…

The screams of his grandmother filled his mind once more attempting to provide a mental block. But as he stared down at the eyes of the Twilight Prince, he found fear to be kept at bay.

“Embrace your path…and find the truth.”

The man proceeded to take the flower he had in his hand and gracefully toss it to Junior. He caught it of course but when he turned around to look at the man, he found that the man had vanished in an instant.

My path…I’m left in wonder as the prince vanishes again. He’s shown me the way many times as a boy and led me to understand that love was what gave me the power to protect family, friends and the special someone of my future. I need to have that power again.

Suddenly he felt a jolt to his brain. He saw Shaira in his mind and could then feel her presence.

Junior, please find me! he heard in his mind.

“Shaira…I can sense her! I know where she is!”

Junior looked over to his open closet where sitting on the top shelf laid a headband and matching pairs of wrist bands. His eyes narrowed as his fists tightened. He had a sense of duty reach out to him. It was at this time Dr. Hiiragi had decided to check up on Junior. He knocked on the door gently.

“Son, it’s me. Can I come in?”

When there was no answer, Dr. Hiiragi reached for the knob and turned it, opening the door.

“I just wanted to make sure you were…”

He entered the room to see Junior was not present inside. He stepped in confused because he had not heard Junior exit the room or the apartment. But when he looked to the closet, he noticed the headband and wristbands were not in their resting place on the shelf. Dr. Hiiragi was surprised for a moment but then looked to the window. He walked over to the window and looked down. What he saw when he did was Junior. He was wearing a black motorcycle suit. He had a helmet resting between his arm and right side. His glasses were not being worn and his hair had become a spiky crew cut style. His eyes locked with his father’s at the window. It was then that Dr. Hiiragi understood what had happened.

Go rescue her, son. Dr. Hiiragi thought.

Junior placed the helmet on his head.

I promised that I’d never let what happened to my grandmother happen to anyone else. I’m certainly not going to let it happen to her. Wait for me Shaira.

Junior placed himself on the black motorcycle beside him and started up the engine. It wasn’t long before he was off along the road, determined to make it to Shaira’s location. Dr. Hiiragi stepped back from the window and exited the room.

He’s finally embracing his abilities.

------------------

Southwest Cargo District…

It was always the warehouses. Somehow Junior’s search for criminals always led him to one. With nothing but the moon above and some dim lighting to illuminate this area Junior realized he was entering danger zone. He pulled his bike up to the curb before the maze of warehouses in front of him. He shut down the headlights of his bike and lifted his helmet. His senses had led him here. Shaira was undoubtedly here. Taking a deep breath, Junior decided to move on into the darkness.

The abandoned warehouse in the center was being guarded by several of those black wearing thugs. As stealthy as possible, Junior made his way closer and closer to the warehouse. Junior peeked around from his hiding place in the dark to see two guys guarding the place in front.

As I thought! She’s in there. I haven’t done this in a while. How will I rescue her?

Junior was able to look down at his fist. It was clenched tightly.

“Embrace your path…and find the truth,” echoed the words of the prince in his head.

In this case “path” is my own ability. The truth is Shaira! With that in mind…

Junior pulled his sleeves back, revealing his red wristbands. They had a golden dragon symbol on each. He placed one wrist over the other, using two fingers to touch the headband on his forehead. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. The two guys who were guarding the warehouse found themselves confused when they saw a momentary flash of light back in the dark.

“What was that?” asked one.

“Not sure. Go take a look.”

The one guard headed over toward the place where he saw the light and peered around the corner. The other guard stayed put with his gun ready should he need to cover him. His eyes widened when he saw the investigating guard be pulled into the darkness.

“WAH!” he shouted as he was pulled.

The other guard, now shocked, went running over to investigate. When he got there he saw his partner lying on the ground unconscious.

“What the hell?” He bent down to try waking his partner.

“What happened? Dude, are you ok?”

At that moment he felt a prick in his neck and immediately fell unconscious afterward. That’s when Junior appeared over them. He was wearing a doctor’s white coat, glasses and dress pants with shoes. He had a syringe and needle in one hand and a clipboard in the other.

“You two are overworked. Rest is essential for good health.”

He turned to see someone was heading his way just then. Junior looked surprised to see him coming.

“Goodness! My other patient has gotten loose! I’d better restrain him.”

He dropped the needle and reached into his pocket. He turned to the incoming guard and let fly a single wave of white bandages as strong as leather. The guard found his upper body bound by the bandages.

“You boys are seriously uptight. You could raise your blood pressure this way. Better calm you down.”

With the guard restrained, Junior flung the plywood clip board and nailed the guard in the face. That left the guard unconscious and the front entrance clear to enter. He headed toward the front door.

So far so good! At this rate Shaira will be rescued in no time.

He reached for the door when he could hear foot steps from the sides of the building.

“Something is going on up front.”

Junior began to start thinking critically. Three more guards were making their way to the front swiftly. The came around to the front just in time to be greeted by bright blinding flashes of light. Junior was standing there in a brown jacket, orange t-shirt and brown khaki pants. He had a professional camera hanging from a strap around his neck that he was using to take pictures.

“Smile for the camera boys! You’re gonna be front page news!” Junior went.

“Who the hell is this guy!?”

“Doesn’t matter! Take him!”

Guard one shot ahead to stab at Junior. Junior side dodged him and sent him sprawling with a kick at his back. He back flipped over the second and brought his camera down on the head of the 3rd on his way down. He looked at his camera after he landed.

“Whew! Still good. I lose good scoops if I’m not careful!”

Junior started off into the passage way the guards came from. One of the guards pulled a radio from his pocket and spoke into it.

“Guys we got trouble! There’s reporter snooping around here!”

Inside the warehouse, Nelson had paid Shaira a visit when he received the radio message. Shaira heard it too.

“What!? Take him out at all costs!” Nelson shouted.

Could it be? thought Shaira.

Junior made it to the end of the passageway to the back yard of the building. Waiting for him were more guards with guns aimed at him.

“Alright, dead meat, that’s as far as you get.”

Junior stopped cold. He took his camera and snapped a shot quickly. The flash was bright enough to blind them momentarily while he ducked into the passage way again and started climbing a ladder to the roof.

“Agh! My eyes!”

Junior climbed as quickly as he could.

Faster Junior! Faster!

“He headed up for the roof!”

The guards began making their way up there. The moment a group of five arrived to the rooftop, expressions of surprise were present again. Standing there facing them, hair slicked back, wearing a glistening white tuxedo was Junior once again. He was calm, holding a red rose up to his nose, inhaling the scent.

“For this joyous gathering of criminals, I offer you the flowers of unity.”

One red rose suddenly became five in his hand. He gave a swift swipe of the hand and sent the roses flinging toward his enemies. The stems of the roses had sharp edges that pierced their hands causing them to drop their guns. He started running again for the door. The door flung open and out came two more guards. Junior was swift in jumping over the two guards and darting inside the building.

“No, he got inside!”

The chase continued. Junior kicked a door open on the next floor and rushed in. He was reached the center of the room when suddenly he strongly sensed Shaira’s presence. Looking down at the floor, he realized she was directly below him. His fist flew at the ground and went directly through the floor. Next, he pulled up a chunk of the floor, Shaira and Nelson looked up in shock. A swift whipcord shot down through the hole and wrapped itself around Shaira’s body. With good pull and Shaira was pulled up from the chair and up into the room where Junior was.

“What the hell!?”

Junior had Shaira in his arms and was undoing her bindings.

“You came for me!” She said.

Junior just gave a smirk. “Are you hurt?”

Shaira shook her head no just before the room was invaded by guards. Junior saw a window and directed Shaira to it. Taking her into his arm, he jumped out. Shaira could now see the face of her rescuer. Junior was wearing cargo pants, a matching vest and white shirt with a brown slouch hat.

Junior!?

The two ran around to the front and could see their getaway path up ahead. Unfortunately they had their path to freedom blocked when suddenly Nelson dropped down in front of them. Junior stopped cold with Shaira close. Behind them were a group of 8 guards.

“You’re not goin anywhere. Nobody makes a fool out of me and my group,” said Nelson.

“Well apparently I have! Your guards haven’t laid a finger on me.”

Nelson grew angry.

“You’ve got some serious balls. Who do you think you are?”

Junior had a steely grin on his face.

“Who am I you say?”

This started the sequence for a proper introduction, starting with the man in the biker suit.

Quote:

“At times, the night-riding biker, Tornado Jr.!”

Next, the man in the white lab coat was shown.

“At other times, the man in the white coat, Doctor Junior!”

Following was the man with a camera.

“At other times, the quick-flash cameraman, Scoop Junior!”

After that came the man in the white tuxedo.

“Sometimes, a man who’s suave, pure, and tasteful; Elegance Junior!

“And finally as I stand before you, the fearless adventurous whip-master, Whiplash Junior!”

Junior’s stride went uninterrupted so he continued.

“But my true form…”

Junior crossed his left wrist over his right one, using two fingers from his right hand to touch his forehead.

“DORAGON CHI!!!”

The golden dragon symbols on his wrist band gave off a bright glow. It then churned a golden energy that swallowed him up. Shaira couldn’t believe what she was seeing. It was just as it had happened in her dream. Junior’s appearance changed within the golden light. He exited the light, blue gi, red headband and wrist bands, black lightweight shoes. He drew from behind, a shiny red staff that gleamed when held up directly in the overhead lighting above.

“The fearless warrior and defender of the innocent…Gokou Junior!”

Shaira’s eyes glimmered as they had many years ago, seeing this hero between her and the threatening enemy.

He’s here. Gokou….Junior! He’s back!

His transformation sequence gained him some distance between the enemy and them. Junior pointed his staff directly at Nelson.

“I’ll make you change your ways!”

Junior held a firm expression of determination.

Junior's enemies surrounded him and Shaira. Shaira stayed close to Junior, fearing capture again. But Junior held firm, determined to protect her. Nelson had a grin on his face.

“Gokou Junior you said? Well as much as you've been able to stay ahead, we have you and the girl surrounded. How will you fight us?” Nelson asked.

Junior continued to stare. As Junior Hiiragi, he had to hide his abilities. But as Gokou Junior, the possibilities were a bit broader. He could feel Shaira pressing against him. This was perfect. Junior narrowed his eyes a moment. That moment of focus was all he needed. In a split second, both he and Shaira vanished without a trace, leaving Nelson and his group confused.

“What the? Where did he go?”

Halfway across town at the rooftop of Shaira's apartment building, the two stood staring at the city ahead.

“How did we get here?!” Shaira asked.

“During my time away, I learned some new tricks,” Junior explained.

Shaira looked to him in awe.

“I have so many question. Where have you been? How did you find me?” Shaira went.

Junior turned his head in her direction. He stared at her in the eyes. She could see the questioning eyes awaiting an answer to everything she wanted to know. He instead gave a wink and a smile.

“Your detective friend is a good catch. You should hold on to him,” he responded.

Junior stepped toward the edge of the roof.

“Gokou Junior, you're not leaving again are you?”

“I have to stop them. Make sure they can't do this again. It was good to see you again, Shaira. You've become more beautiful than I remember. Remember to thank your detective friend for me.”

Shaira went toward him as he vanished from sight.

“Gokou Jr, wait!”

He was gone without a trace once more. She then wondered if she'd see him again. Meanwhile, Junior returned to the group of guys responsible for Shaira's kidnapping, in the very same place he was standing before he left.

“Now where were we?” He asked.

“I was about to kill you for stopping my plans!”

Junior gave a smug look. “I cannot tell you how many times I've heard that one.”

Nelson's look of rage appeared as he yelled, “KILL HIM!”

The group of cronies advanced him like a swarm. Nelson stepped back to watch the pending slaughter of his newest enemy. Junior kept his position as they advanced him. Upon closing in there was a small explosion of energy. Junior's energy had went off, knocking his foes backwards. He now stood there in the center of a calm energy bubble.

“This is the limit of Dr. Hiiragi's power serum? I cannot say I'm impressed,” Junior remarked.

His enemies rebounded rather quick. Returning to the attack, they charged Junior head on. Determined to make them pay for kidnapping Shaira, Junior's eyes narrowed, envisioning his next move. His hand reached behind him, for the red staff contained in his sheath. He drew the red staff just before jumping into the air in a swift fashion. Nelson watched with a raised brow, wondering what the boy would do now. Junior, turned around with a sharp spin. His hand grasping tightly upon the power staff, he then launched it at his foes as if it were a boomerang. His opponents went in opposite directions hoping to clear the way. Junior then spoke sharply.

“POWER POLE EXTEND!”

The bright red staff proceeded to extend 100 feet both directions, catching his 8 opponents in its spinning path. Nelson vanished from sight, avoiding the trajectory of the pole itself. The pole retracted on its way back to its owner and Junior caught on it on the descent of his jump. The 8 henchmen of Nelson had vanished as a result of being defeated with the vicious blow.

It's as it was against Panther Claw. The henchmen disappear after being defeated. Junior thought.

He then saw a shadow cast over him and looked up. Nelson was rushing down on his viciously. Junior's eyes widened in surprise. Following this, an explosion of dust erupted in the spot where he stood. Inside the cloud of dust underwent a swift exchange between Junior and Nelson. Punches flying at each other in retrospect of each other, the two were in heated battle. So far neither had managed to land a punch on each other. The two began to move out of the settling dust, Nelson the aggressor for now. Junior stayed ahead of his spinning kicks and punches by swishing from side to side.

A sweep kick at his legs, put Junior on the jump-back defense. He did a backhand spring after jumping back. Nelson chased after him. Junior's backhand springs continued till he reached a fence. He landed on the fence with his hands and feet. Then he jumped forward when Nelson came in trying throw a lunge punch. Junior did somersault and a 180 spin before sending his right foot at Nelson's back. It caught Nelson in the center of his spine and thrust him into the gate. Nelson turned around to see Junior crouched on all fours staring directly at him. Giving a grin he snickered.

“I'm intrigued there's someone who can match me. Guess you had some of Dr. Hiiragi's serum as well.”

Junior shook his head in response.

“My strength comes from hard work. Not some stolen miracle drug,” he replied.

Nelson snarled in response to Junior's reply. He rushed Junior throwing a weighted lunge punch. Junior sprung up, flipping himself upside down. He grabbed Nelson's shoulders and came down to get to his own feet. With a powerful hurl he threw Nelson across the air, against the wall of the nearby building. Nelson fell to the ground. Angrily he started to get up. Lifting his face to look ahead, however, he found himself staring at the edge of Junior's power pole. Junior had a serious expression on his face.

“It's over Nelson!”

Nelson went to stand up and attack. Junior took his staff and came down on the back of Nelson's neck. The blow was enough to bring the man into unconsciousness. Junior took a moment to breath. With Nelson subdued, the fight was officially over.

-----------------------

The police acted as the clean up crew, coming to pick up Nelson to take him to prison. Junior watched as the police placed Nelson in a paddy wagon from a distance. He was determined to keep himself from being seen. As he watched to make sure nothing could go wrong with the arrest, he soon caught sight of Shaira in the crowd. She had returned to the scene. Giving a nod, Junior knew what he had to do. Shaira searched around the crowd looking for any signs of her rescuer.

Have I come too late? He seems to have disappeared again.

“Shaira?” came a familiar voice.

She turned around to see Junior working his way around the crowd, calling for her.

“Shaira, are you here? Answer me!” he called out.

Shaira went toward him.

“Junior! Over here!” she called back.

Junior met eyes with Shaira and came over to her. They took each other into the others arms.

“My gosh! Thank goodness you're safe,” Junior said.

Shaira looked at him confused.

“Didn't you...?”

She flashed back.

Shaira shook her head. I guess not...

“Shaira, is everything alright?” Junior asked.

Shaira shook her head. “Yes, everything's fine.”

“Let's get you home,” Junior said.

Junior and Shaira were escorted back to her house by police car. Shaira told Junior of how she was saved. Junior had a surprised expression on her face.

“Gokou Junior, huh?”

“Yeah. It was so strange he showed up like that to save me,” Shaira said.

Junior shrugged.

“Guess you just have guardian angels, Shai.” he said in response.

“Yeah, guess so.”

The police car pulled up to Shaira's apartment building. The two looked at her front door. Shaira stepped out. Junior rolled down the window.

“I guess I should apologize for not being there to help this time,” Junior said.

“It's ok, Junior. I know if you could have you would have done whatever it took to save me. But...if you ever see Gokou Junior, please thank him for me.” Shaira said.

Junior gave a nod and was about to roll up the car window when Shaira remembered something.

“Junior...”

Junior turned back to her.

“You should be careful. Those guys who kidnapped me were after your dad for some reason. Gokou Jr. might have defeated Nelson. But he told me that there are more powerful agents from the same gang than him.”

Junior's eyes narrowed. I was afraid of that. This is most likely not over.

“I'll keep it in mind. Have a good rest of the night Shaira.”

Junior rolled up the window and the police car pulled off for Junior's apartment. Shaira watched the car head off down the road. She held a hand against her chest, having a thoughtful expression on as she looked down at the ground. She saw Gokou Jr's face again winking at her.

“Your detective friend is a good catch. You should hold on to him,”

With those words echoed in her mind she thought, Junior, did you...?

-----

Junior had returned home and was laying in bed. His father was standing at the open door looking at him.

“So you rescued her?” Dr. Hiiragi asked.

“Yes. It was strange dad. The moment I put those bands on, it was like everything came back to me. It felt like I had not stopped being Gokou Junior at all,” Junior replied

“I guess in your case it's like riding a bike. You never really forget.”

Junior gave a nod.

“You know, I figured a day would come where you would use those bands again,” Dr. Hiiragi said.

Junior looked over to him surprised.

“You do so well as a detective. You solve puzzling cases that the most seasoned of our city's police forces can't crack. But nowadays, the city needs more than a detective. It needs a hero. Son, it's time you became that hero again.”

Dr. Hiiragi then proceeded to cut the light off and step out of the room. Junior laid awake for a moment to ponder his father's words. What he said made sense. There was a growing restlessness inside him. Tonight he'd felt content in knowing he was preventing a crime as opposed to solving one already transpired.

Perhaps, the city is ready for a hero again. Perhaps, Shaira...

He felt it in his heart. One day there would come a time where he could no longer keep the truth hidden from her. Perhaps, one day he could tell her the truth. Junior turned onto his side and proceeded to drift off to sleep.
