In the middle of the Pacific Ocean, a lone volcanic island sat in the still waters of the planet Earth, unyielding to the passage of time. The hollow mountain of stone and cooled lava stared up at the thick cloud cover that kept the night sky hidden from view. Not a single star could be seen, as if a great darkness had overwhelmed everything in sight, and there wasn't a single speck of hope anywhere left in the universe. As if to confirm this, the volcanic island was completely devoid of all life. Clouds of dark ash was always slowly pouring out of the gaping maw of the volcano, then slowly made its way down the sides of the volcano. As it did, the ash expanded outwards, creating a haze that blocked out the sun, even during the brightest of days, choking out all life on the island. Layers upon layers of this poisonous dust completely covered the ground, forbidding any attempt for life to grow from the rich soil, nor could any seed get through the layers of ash to reach the soil. The island wasn’t the only lifeless thing there. The volcano was devoid of life too. To enter in through the volcano’s maw was to enter your grave, for the poisonous ash was so thick within the volcano that the very air was a poisonous fume. Now, all of the magma that filled the deepest depths of the volcano was a cooled solid mass where melted rock used to flow. The only movement within the volcano's heart was the flow of the poisonous ash that slowly crept out of small cracks in the crusty floor. The only thing else that was coming from this volcano were small pillars of cooled lava that filled the interior of the volcano's heart. However, one of the pillars of stone stood out among the others, and not just because it was the tallest, nor because it sat directly under the gaping maw of the volcano, but because it was decorated with what looked like a memorial for a dead warrior. Draped over the top of the pillar was a linen robe of some kind. It was pure white in color, and the ashes seemed to be unable to touch this pure sheet of cloth. A rapier made of a brilliant silver metal had been stabbed through this white robe and into the stone pillar, preventing the robe from being blown away from the slightest breeze. A sphere of some kind rested against the blade of the rapier, as if it was fast asleep on its bed of while linen. The sphere was perfectly round, without a single imperfection anywhere on it. Then, around the base of this same pillar, a small stone tipped to the side slightly, as if the ground under it had shifted slightly. The ash spewing crack that was closest to this stone slowly decreased the output at which ash emerged from it, then stopped all together. The ground shifted again, this time in the other direction, causing the small stone to roll a little, leaving a path in the ashes that had settled on the ground. As if the volcano sensed a danger, all of the ash that was within the volcano stopped ascending towards the gaping hole at the peak of the hollow mountain, and then started to quickly fall, and settle down on top of the small stone and filling the inactive crack, covering them both completely. Still, the ground shifted again, and the cooled magma groaned slightly in response. Several stones chipped off the walls and started to roll over to where the ground was groaning, trying to cover up what was ever was disturbing this place of death. The ground shifted yet again, and this time larger rocks were dislodged from their resting places, and rolled over to the burial spot, trying to cover it up even more, desperately trying to keep what ever was stirring under the ground buried there. ------------- Word count: 668 |

The ground seemed to rumble and shift again, as if what ever had been buried deep within this volcano was still determined to break itself free from the volcano's grip. However, the volcano seemed to have a mind and will of its own, and was becoming enraged that something would actually try to break free of this place of death, let alone actually think about even attempting to do so. Several of the pillars surrounding the tallest pillar started to groan and crack as several large slabs of rock broke free of the interior walls of the volcano and fell towards the burial location, creating several more layers of shear rock that this stirring force would have to break it's way free of if it wanted freedom from this grave of solid rock. The stone like groan coming from the bowels of the volcano seem to lessen, as if the buried being was beginning to realize that escape was impossible. As if it was satisfied, the volcano seemed to go back into a state of rest as the poisonous fumes and ashes started to rise towards the gaping maw of this massive mountain of death once more. However, this being that desired its freedom wasn't finished with its seemingly futile struggle, and the stone began to groan again. The volcano seemed to groan along with it, then was sounded like several boulders breaking in half echoed throughout the volcano and into the cloud filled sky. Soon, the pillars that had all been groaning earlier shifted position slightly, then more as they all started to fall towards the largest of all of the pillars, as the volcano tried to use them to bury this threat once and for all. With an echoing crash that would deafen even a Kai, all the pillars hit the ground at once, burying everything completely. Only the tallest of the pillars stood tall, and it was on the verge of collapse from all of the falling and crashing debris. When the echoing stopped, all was still. Not a single bit of ash was floating up out of the maw of the volcano, nor were they heading towards the ground to settle on top of the gigantic pile of stone to help bury this foolish being that was trying to escape. The silence was deafening as seconds passed as the volcano waited to see if it had indeed stopped the buried one from escaping. Soon a minute passed, then several minutes. Nothing. The volcano seemed to settle back into the ground to prepare to begin spreading more toxic ash into the atmosphere. However, the hollowed mountain had been deceived, for this being hadn't begun to fight. With a sudden sound of stone cracking, a crack appeared on the ground near the edge of the debris pile, and all of the ash that had settled on the ground there was quickly swallowed up through that crack. The ground cracked again, and this time part of the stone pile shifted upwards slightly, as if something was pushing up against it. Then, an amber glow slowly started to emerge from within the crack on the ground, then from several more cracks... then from all of them this amber colored glow started to emerge. The volcano started to groan again, this time in alarm at the power that this being held. As the volcano began to shake from the power that this being held, the clouds above the volcano began to darken, as if preparing to take on this being with full force. With a surge of power, the entire pillar that was still standing was quickly covered in cracks that were giving off an amber glow... then it was as if the world exploded. A gigantic column of amber light erupted from the heart of the volcano, shattering everything that stood in it's path, ranging from the smallest pebble to the largest of the stone pillars. The rapier, sphere, and white robe were all hurled into the sky by the amber light, but seemed to be unharmed. The column of amber light erupted out of the maw of the volcano and pierced through the thick layer of clouds, and escaped into the night sky, pulling along all of the toxic ash along with it, taking it all to a place where it could do no harm. Then from within the bowels of the volcano, a small dark figure, no bigger then a man, slowly floated upwards within this amber column of light, heading towards the sky. When this being emerged from the maw of the volcano, the column of amber light dimmed, then faded away, revealing a break in the black clouds. A single distant star shined brightly through this hole in the black clouds, a single bright point that no darkness could touch or harm. Soon, the silver rapier came plunging out of the sky, followed by the sphere that was wrapped up completely by the white linen robe. The being that had emerged from the volcano held out his hand, and even though his eyes were shut, he caught the falling blade by the handle, then quickly slid it into the sheath that hung from his belt as he caught the sphere and robe with his other hand. In one fluid motion, the being unfurled the robe and slipped it one while placing the sphere into a bag that hung from his other hip. Though no one else could here in, a small voice was ringing into this being's ears. :Diagnostic cycle complete. Bio plasma reactor stable, combat matrix intact, outer shell undamaged, ki energy flow unhampered. All systems green. Start up sequence activated.: the voice said within the being's head. The moment the voice vanished, the being's eyes shot open, and amber light shined out from them. :Start up sequence complete. Maccabee type android O'Ryan unit activated.: O'Ryan looked up towards the sky, slowly took in a deep breath of the now fresh air, and then slowly let it out. "So this is how it feels to be brought back to life. It's different then I thought. Boy... I really missed this planet." ------------- Post word count: 1026 Total word count: 1694 |

O'Ryan floated there in mid air, using his built in scouter to scan the entire area. As he had expected, he was in the same exact place as he had died when he fought those two demons that had overwhelmed him and hurled him into the magma. O'Ryan glanced downwards as he slowly held up his hands, studying them closely. He was fully mechanical, made of metal... and metal melts. How was it that my body didn't melt in all of that heat? Instead, while I was in the after life, my body remained intact, sunk down into the heart of that volcano, and was imprisoned there when the magma cooled. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place! O'Ryan thought as he turned around to look down into the volcano, using the zoom feature of his built in scouter to examine the interior of the volcano... mainly the gaping hole he made to escape. :Answer... O'Ryan unit is equipped with nano repair bots that can fully rebuild the Maccabee class android if the O'Ryan unit gets taken off line from battle damage. Nano bots can only rebuild you, not repair you, since the manner of how they do the repairs would be impossible if the O'Ryan unit were moving or fighting.: O'Ryan sighed and nodded in response to his primary programming. You haven't changed one bit. Unemotional as ever I see. :Advisement... please deactivate emotional programming, for it is a waste of processing power.: Oh be quiet. I'm going to see if what King Kai taught me is any different here in the real world then back in the after life. O'Ryan thought as he started to use the power fly ability to dart away from the volcanic island at top speed. However, as he flew, a small display that was in O'Ryan's field of vision that showed his current energy levels expanded so he could see it in better detail... and his current energy levels were deep in the red zone, meaning he had barely any energy. What the? How did my power levels get so low so fast? O'Ryan thought in alarm as he brought his flight to an abrupt stop. :Explanation... When you were thrown into the lava flow, a bio plasma in your torso area was ruptured, and a liter of bio plasma leaked out.: The moment O'Ryan's primary programming told O'Ryan he had lost a liter of the android's version of blood, O'Ryan was so stunned that he dropped right out of the sky and into the ocean with a belly flop. "A liter?! I lost an entire liter of bio plasma?! How the heck am I still functioning??" O'Ryan exclaimed in a panic, his voice slightly muffled by the salt water entering his mouth since he was completely submerged and still sinking. :Explanation... You have been consuming an unusually high amount of bio matter during your time on this planet to the point where a considerable amount had to be stored. It has been dissolved and turned into uncharged bio plasma.: O'Ryan's primary programming explained, which helped O'Ryan calm down enough to swim to the surface. Hey, I was trying to blend in and be more human. No harm, no foul... as a matter of fact, it saved me... however, uncharged bio plasma doesn't provide any where near the same amount of power as pure bio plasma does. O'Ryan thought as he broke to the surface of the water and noticed that the current had carried him quite a distance away from the volcanic island, so he was now in the middle of nowhere. :Confirmed. The uncharged bio plasma, mixed with the pure bio plasma in your system, has resulted in neutral plasma, which provides enough power to keep you alive, but not enough to give you enough fire power to fight. The plasma must be charged up to 56 tecktrods to turn it into filtered bio plasma, which will provide enough power to bring you up to 50% of your full power.: O'Ryan groaned as he flew up out of the water and started to ring out his white robe. On the planet Avalon, that would be no problem... but here on Earth? Only a nuclear power plant can produce that, and I'd have to hook myself up to the nuclear reactor itself and absorb all of its power for a whole minute to get up to that. No way they are going to just let me do that. The only other thing that can make that kind of power is a bolt of lighting, and the chances of getting struck by one is rather low! O'Ryan thought as got the last bit of water out of his white robe, then looked up from his robe when his built in scouter started to detect an atmospheric disturbance. He looked around, and saw a dark cloud formation in the distance... and detected heightened electrical activity. ... but I could be wrong... O'Ryan thought as he took off like a rocket trying to the thunder storm as fast as he could. ------------- Post word count: 850 Total word count: 2544 |

As O'Ryan began to use his power fly ability to reach the developing storm, his primary programming began to shut down several of O'Ryan's secondary systems to conserve power, starting with the heating units that made his synthetic skin warm to the touch, just like any other human's skin, then O'Ryan's breathing system was shut down. He was an android after all, so he really didn't require any oxygen to live. While this was happening, O'Ryan every now and then glanced down at the small power level display that was in his field of vision, watching his power levels slowly drop. Hm... by the looks of it, the more ki energy I use, the quicker my power levels drop. When I get to that storm, I'm going to have to rely on my normal flying abilities instead of my power fly. O'Ryan contemplated as he neared the storm. The moment O'Ryan entered the storm, he brought his flight to a halt, and his primary programming took all of the android's offensive systems offline to conserve power. :Be advised... the O'Ryan unit is now incapable of using ki energy unit power is restored. You are only capable of flight that does not require ki energy.: O'Ryan's primary programming droned off to him as O'Ryan looked upwards at the thunder clouds, watching several bolts of lighting arc between the clouds. Even though his sense of smell had been deactivated as well, O'Ryan swore that he could smell the ozone being produced by the storm. "Better get started then." O'Ryan said quietly as he flew up into the clouds. Soon, O'Ryan could see several lighting bolts arcing all around him, this way and that, as if the storm was preforming a dance with the bolts of electricity. When ever O'Ryan tried to fly into the path of one though, it had quickly vanished, and another bolt appeared else where. O'Ryan began darting all over the place, trying to get struck, but nothing was working. Sheesh... it's like a game of dodge ball, but backwards. I'm trying to get hit by just one, and those bolts are going everywhere but where I am! On the other side of the storm, a gigantic cruise liner was cutting through the calmer waters like a hot knife through butter. This luxury ship was lit up like a sky scraper, and all of the lights from that ship were reflecting off of the water and up into the night sky, causing the ship to shine like a flare in the middle of the ocean. The deck was packed full of personnel from Capsule Corp. all on vacation. CEOs, VIPs, inspectors, and thousands of other high level people from the Capsule Corp enjoying themselves while their underlings were hard at work back on land. Just about all of them were dressed in bathing suits or expensive clothing, but they were all having a great time. Even members of the crew were enjoying themselves. However, they were all having so much fun that they didn't realize they were heading straight for the storm. In the very back of the ship, a little girl named Lee was hiding between a life boat and the wall the boat was resting against. Her parents had brought her along on the cruise because they thought she would enjoy herself, but they had been wrong. Lee hugged her stuffed animal bunny close to her chest as she shivered slightly in the cold night air. Lee sniffled slightly as she mentally started cry for her mommy, wondering why she had to come to this place that was too loud and had nothing for her to do. There weren't any other children for her to play with either. All she wanted to do was go home. "Mommy..." Lee cried slightly as she squeezed her bunny tighter, then quickly looked up when she heard the sound of thunder, and began to sob. If there was one thing she truly feared, it was the sound of thunder. ---------------- Post word count: 665 Total word count: 3209 |

O'Ryan continued to dart back and forth through the clouds of the electrical storm, attempting to catch one of the lighting bolts so he could use the electricity within it to recharge his bio plasma that kept him alive. As O'Ryan continued to fly, his power levels continued to drop, even though he wasn't using any ki energy. Come on already! All I need is one of you! Hit me already! O'Ryan thought as he narrowly missed another lighting bolt. However, when something in his field of vision flickered, O'Ryan realized that his vision was starting to fail. Damn it all! I'm not going back to the afterlife already! I've got to find the rest of the Rukotoians and find them a new home! I promised Gothitus that I would! O'Ryan thought as another bolt went past his ear, burning off the synthetic flesh on the right side of his face, but didn't give him any of the power he needed from it. However, what happened next caused O'Ryan to bring his mad chase after the lighting bolts to an abrupt halt. He had heard something that even the most hardened criminals can't ignore. That... that sounded like a scream. A child's scream. O'Ryan quickly looked to the East and downwards. Through the breaks in the static that was beginning to cloud his vision, O'Ryan was able to see a bright point in the water... and in the center of it was a cruise liner and had mistakenly entered the storm. The massive ship was getting tossed back and forth by the waves below. O'Ryan was having trouble telling, but he was positive that the scream was coming from that ship. I don't care if I run out of power and sink to the ocean floor. I can't let those people die! O'Ryan thought as he abandoned his attempt to catch a lighting bolt and started to fly towards the ship. Before he could fly a foot though, O'Ryan's entire body went ridged as a damage report appeared in his field of vision. His right arm's temperature had jumped at least 1,000 degrees in a single second, and all of the synthetic flesh on that arm was gone. O'Ryan had just enough time to glance over at his arm to see that a lighting bolt had nailed the back of his hand. :Absorbing electrical charge and transferring it into bio plasma. Entering stand by mode till transfer is complete.: O'Ryan's primary program stated as O'Ryan fell like a sack of potatoes and fell into the sea with a splash. The water that was touching his super heated arm sizzled and started to boil, but it was rapidly cooling his arm down. If this takes longer then five seconds, I’m activating my override! Meanwhile on the cruise ship, Lee was still in the back of the ship, clinging onto the railing for a set of stairs so she wouldn’t get thrown around like a rag doll when the ship was being tossed around by the waves like they were playing catch with a toy. ”Mommy! Help me!” Lee cried repeatedly as she clung onto her toy bunny with her other arm. As Lee cried out, a crew member that was trying to get life jackets to the passengers inside her Lee’s cries for help, and quickly rushed outside. ”I hear you! Stay where you are! I’m coming!” he shouted as he tried to follow Lee’s cries, but he was having difficulty hearing her over the roaring waves and echoing thunder. Then, after Lee gave out another cry, the crewman found her chasing after her toy bunny that was being swept away by the water that had splashed aboard. ”No! Don’t go near the edge!” the crewman cried, but it was too late. Another wave crashed over the cruise liner and pushed Lee over the edge of the ship after her toy. All the crew member could do was watch as the child was swept overboard, screaming for her mother. ”Man overboard!” the crewman cried as he tried to run over to the nearest life ring. However, before he could even get to the life ring, the screaming stopped. Fearing the worst, the crewman looked over the edge of the boat, and couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He saw the child Lee, clutching to her toy bunny, but she wasn’t in the water. A man surrounded by an amber colored aura was floating in mid air above the water, cradling Lee in his arms. The man looked up at the crewman, and the crewman felt as if the man’s glowing amber eyes were piercing his flesh and soul. The man seemed to fly upwards towards the cruise liner, and landed on the deck. He then turned to the crewman and walked over to him, seemingly unaffected by the rocking ship and waves crashing into him. When the man reached the horrified crewman, the man grabbed the crewman by the arm and started to walk over towards the hatch that led below deck. ”Before you ask, my name is O’Ryan. Get this girl below deck, get her to her family, and tell them that they were careless for leaving her alone like this. I have to get this ship outta here.” O’Ryan said as he handed the girl to the crewman, then shoved them both through the hatch before closing it. :Override enabled. Bio plasma recharge shall continue when override is deactivated. Power level is at thirty percent. Ki energy may be used sparingly.: ------------ Post word count: 922 Total word count: 4131 |

As soon as the crewman and the girl were back inside the cruise liner, O'Ryan turned his attention to the other passengers and crew members that were still on deck. O'Ryan surrounded himself with his amber ki aura and quickly started to move around the ship, trying to get people inside the ship. However, when ever they saw him, they quickly became afraid and didn't do what he would say at first. O'Ryan could understand this though. He was a strange being with glowing amber eyes, and he had been repeatably told that his eyes gave everyone the feeling that he was looking directly into their soul... which O'Ryan found ridiculous. However, the amber glow coming from his eyes was just a result of being powered by bio plasma, which gave off a similar glow. O'Ryan also understood that humans would be afraid of someone that could fly. Very few humans had the ability to fly without the use of machines like airplanes and helicopters. The concept of flying without aid must have been a scary thought to humans. And to launch energy blasts with bare hands? O’Ryan didn’t want to think about what humans thought about that type of thing. What O’Ryan just couldn’t understand was how a human could be a snob when their life was on the line. Several of the high ranking VIPs that O’Ryan was trying to get inside just stood there like idiots and demanded to know who O’Ryan was, or more like what he was, and why they should follow his orders. ”This is the last time I’m saying this sir! You have to get back inside where it’s safe! Out here you’ll only be in the way and you’ll-“ O’Ryan started to say, but was interrupted… again. ”What?! Did you say that ‘I’ will be in ‘your’ way?! How dare you say that I would be in your way! It is you that is in my way! Now move aside so I may get my briefcase and date.” stated one of the VIPs as he brushed off any attempt to get him inside as he tried to casually walk over towards a water soaked briefcase while being rocked back and forth by the waves. O’Ryan narrowed his amber eyes and shook his head. Humans… how ignorant can they get?? O’Ryan asked himself as he grabbed the VIP by the wrist and ‘escorted’ him through a set of doors that led him back inside, then stepped out of the way for another crewwoman to rush inside with another VIP in her arms, whom had hit their head and was knocked out. O’Ryan was about to help escort in another person when he heard a cry of horror come from another crew member. O’Ryan turned around to see a wave forming that was at least twice the size of the cruise liner, and it was heading right for the ship. :The probability of the incoming weather phenomenon capsizing this vessel is quite high. Immediate response recommended.: O’Ryan’s primary programming chirped as O’Ryan quickly flew towards the wave so he was between it and the cruise liner. No, really? Thanks for the advice! O’Ryan thought as he considered sending an overload through his CPU to fry his primary programming so he could have some peace and quiet again like he did in the afterlife. O’Ryan brought his right hand up in front of his face, and quickly turned his hand into a fist as his fist and forearm started to glow with red ki energy. As he slowly pulled his arm back, white ki energy started to gather around his glowing forearm. ”Omega cannon…” O’Ryan said as a set of cross hairs entered his field of vision and targeted the spot on the wave he should shoot at. ”FIRE!” O’Ryan bellowed as he forced his fist forwards and launched a red beam encased by a white beam out of his fist and hit the center of the wave, right on target. The Omega Cannon attack cut right through the wave. O’Ryan slowly lowered his hand, resulting in the Omega Cannon cutting the wave in half, turning it into to waves that went around the cruise liner instead of hitting it dead on. O’Ryan stopped firing, and looked down at his firing hand… which was throwing sparks. Looks like having the ki cannons installed into my arms changed my construction enough that the Omega Cannon suffered a small feed back loop. That never happened in the afterlife. I’ll have to take a look at this more to see if I can correct it. O’Ryan thought as he turned around and flew back towards the cruise liner, which had managed to turn around and was now heading towards the edge of the storm. As the cruise liner made its way out of the storm, O'Ryan constantly flew around the ship to make sure that there weren't any more people falling overboard, nor where there going to be any more waves that would threaten to flip the ship. It wasn't long before the vessel managed to make it's way out of the storm and out to calmer waters that would cradle the luxury ship rather then toss it around like a beach ball. Glad to see that the vessel was save again, O'Ryan flew down, landed on the rear section of the ship, and sat down on the deck while letting out a sigh of relief as his amber aura faded away and his eyes dimmed so they weren't as scary looking. Like any other android, he didn't feel at all tired, but he was relieved that no one had been badly hurt and that everyone was still alive. O'Ryan was about to shut himself down again so his primary programming could transfer the lighting energy into his bio plasma when he heard a voice that he recognized. "Thank you for saving me sir." said Lee as she walked up to him, holding her water soaked toy bunny in her arms, with a woman that O'Ryan guessed what her mother trying to catch up to the girl to wrap her up in the towel she was holding. O'Ryan smiled at the girl and gently rubbed her cheek. "You're welcome little one." O'Ryan said as her mother wrapped her in a towel and quickly carried her off while the captain of the ship, a rather beautiful young woman by the looks of it, walked over to O'Ryan. "Thank you for saving my ship sir. One of my crewmen said you called yourself O'Ryan. Is there anything you would like in return?" the captain asked O'Ryan in a very grateful tone. "Just a place where I can sit down for 30 minutes undisturbed please. I need to repair some minor damage to my arm and face." O'Ryan replied while showing the captain the parts of his face and hand that the synthetic flesh had been ripped off. ------------- Post word count: 1157 Total word count: 5288 |
