“Bardock,” a grumpy voice called out. The Saiyan groggily opened his eyes and rose to his feet. He grinned as he clenched his fists. ”Yeah, I missed this,” he referred to his recovered strength. His crashlanding on Earth had left him very wounded and weak, to the point where a sea creature almost devoured the banished warrior. Roshi identified its carcass as a shark, supposedly one of the planet’s greatest predators. It just proved what kind of a dump he had been sent to. He grabbed his outfit and shambled down the stairs, where he saw Roshi and several of his students gathered in front of the tv. Only that android was sitting in a corner, seemingly uninterested. Bardock waited for a few seconds, but the bunch was too fixated on the screen. Shifting his weight from one foot to another, he started talking. ”What do you want, Roshi?” The sudden sound alerted the students and they turned before the Saiyan had finished his sentence. Several of the human girls in their early teens giggled or yelped when they saw Bardock’s war-scarred torso. He was still simply holding his outfit instead of having it put on. The warrior seemed unfazed, but this prudish reaction surprised him. It was a strange place, Earth. He looked down, and confirmed he had his boxers on. The sunlight broke through the window and caught the old man’s spectacles as he looked up solemnly. ”This is what’s going on!” he said. “Just look at it!” He was frantically pointing at an old television set. Bardock’s head turned towards the screen. He saw a urban area, with people violently running towards and from each other. ”What, riots? You don’t get those here?” he asked, having arched his eyebrows. ----------- WC: 298 |

”Of course we do, you fool!” Roshi spouted. “Only when we get them, the participants are still alive!” At this point Bardock noticed several of the assailants had broken limbs, or had even lost limbs. They continued their assault nonetheless. In some cases their skin was extremely pale, or even sported a green hue. To top it off, they were frenzied and had no visible irises. Their eyes were all white. ”Ok…” Bardock started. “I admit that even as a veteran, I rarely came across stranger than this.” His thoughts traced back to Kanassa for a split-second. ”But what does this have to do with me?” ”Assignment. This is too messy for any of these youngsters. You have experience with this, don’t you? Go there and fix stuff.” ”Right,” Bardock said. “Consider them dead,” he smirked. Nobody seemed to think of it as funny. ”And no killing anyone unaffected,” Roshi added. “Not while you’re my disciple. Bardock nodded reluctantly. This would make everything a whole lot more complicated, but he couldn’t risk ending up on Roshi’s bad side. What he lacked in combat skill, he definitely made up for in combat knowledge. The android in the corner seemed more interested now. ”Master, I wish to go with him, and help,” she said. Master Roshi peered over his glasses in a surprised manner. ”No. You’re not skilled enough for this, as you well know,” the master answered. ”Whatever, I’ll be on my way,” Bardock finished the conversation. In a matter of seconds he had dressed and enabled his scouter. ”Veltin, was it?” he said more to himself while fumbling with the scouter. “Got it. Yeah, it’s like a bee hive down there,” he grinned. One of Roshi's students suddenly came down the stairs, holding Bardock’s spear. ”Thanks, but I’ll be keeping that boy home I think,” he commented with a smile. ”It’s been far too long since I got around to doing some genuine blasting.” The girl shoved it in his arms nonetheless, and Roshi agreed he should take it with him. Something about how only a fool would go to war without a weapon. ------------ WC: 364 Total: 662 |

The Saiyan overlooked something unlike he had ever seen. Veltin was apparently a small peninsula, so local authorities had taken the opportunity to just close everyone in and wait for this ‘riot’ to blow over. Concrete barricades, riot police and even LAV’s had been deployed in order to keep the mob inside. It had something comical. Weaklings, killing other weaklings while even other weaklings tried to calm them. His scanner stated the highest powerlevel within a five mile radius was his own, followed by a measly powerlevel of 17. It was a weak race, and Bardock gravely doubted their potential. The main way in and out of the city seemed to be a long, broad street, with several other small ones more towards the water's edge. Only here did the authorities struggle. Bardock jumped off the skyscraper, and right before touching the ground, he flew towards the barricades. No casualties… He had to act fast. At this point he eagerly grabbed for the weapon he first refused to bring along. It wouldn’t be wise to waste his Ki on these undead. He raced across the barricade while slashing the horde of undead trying to climb over, protecting the people who so desperately tried to keep them in the city. Focusing his Ki into the spearhead, he held it to his right, cleaving through the zombies as if it were butter. The Saiyan turned half a circle, and this time jogged across the main street. He smiled as they tried to jump him. With a jerk of his wrist he slit one of their throats, ducking down to evade the stream of blood that ensued. He then impaled another two, kicked them into a nearby store, and telekinetically pushed the remainder of the group backwards. The Saiyan could not have imagined for a better pastime than this. He slammed the weapon into the concrete, spinningly rose up in flight, and charged his palms into a bright blue color. Besides the light it created, only the Saiyan's laughter could faintly be heard. The policemen had stopped firing and were just observing Bardock in a stupified manner. ”SOKIDAN!” He flicked the ki spheres into the street, crashing the concrete and creating a hole. It wouldn’t stop their movement, but at the very least deter it. ------------ WC: 386 Total: 1048 |

"What in the bloody hell is that idiot thinking!?" The group of students chuckled at the old man's sight. His pearly white mustache shivered with anger as he was banging the tv set in his underwear. "Master, calm down, please!" one of his favorites begged him. Roshi replied by smacking him square in the face. "I will calm down whenever I damn want to!" he said, smacking his sunglasses on the couch. The old man dropped himself next to them, and started talking to himself. "What is he thinking? This isn't a goddamn warzone..." he muttered, stroking his beard. "Learn to use some SUBTLETY!!!!" he suddenly burst out. It silenced the students instantly. Roshi was a calm, lighthearted man, but it seemed some things could drive him over the edge after all. "Get ready, we are heading over there," he said calmly at last, turning to the android girl. Her amber eyes shot open in a somewhat mechanical way, faster and colder than a normal human would. She then peered through her black hairs, not moving her head one bit. "Why, master? You always say I'm 'not ready' and weaker than all your other students. What do I have that they do not?" "You don't have a conscience. Now get in the car," he shouted from outside while pulling up his pants. ------------------- WC: 224 Total: 1272 |

A flyer got caught in the wind and swept across the decayed road. It was in the heart of the city, where this very street was as densely packed as it always was, but quieter than ever. Only faint pops could be heard from the distance, where the fighting was going on. Hundreds of people stood around aimlessly, waiting for the faintest noise that indicated life. They did not look up, they did not move, they did not breathe; they were the undead. A young boy, scarf wrapped around his dirt covered face, looked them on from behind a few wooden boards. This old, abandoned toolshed and kept him safe for the past few hours, since he saw his own little sister gnaw down their mother's wrist to the bone. He closed his eyes forcefully to avoid snickering. Turning his back to the gap, he cautiously kneeled next to his wounded father, taking care not to rattle any of the tools. He had fallen down the stairs while pushing his wife away from him, breaking his leg. For a while, mother and daughter vigorously scratched the shed's door, but lost interest as to why they were doing so. Or, perhaps they had just forgotten why they were trying to get inside in the first place. His father told him one thing before he passed out: "Don't let anyone inside, son. And don't go out." The boy stretched his arm to grab the cloth in the bucket of water, but pulled it back, knowing it would alert 'the others'. He carefully dipped two fingers in the somewhat filthy water, and let it drop onto his father's lips. At this time, the boy realised that the popping sounds had stopped, and he anxiously, but quietly returned back to his vantage point. The others hadn't even noticed it had stopped, as they were still standing around quietly. However, a bright, blueish light suddenly showered them, and they looked up and responded in a collective grunting. Moments later, an explosion followed and they all sprinted in western direction. "Dad," the boy said, shaking his father, "Dad, they're all gone!" -------------------- WC: 354 Total: 1626 |

A slight tap was all that could be heard; the sound of Bardock's soles connecting to the ground once more. The onlookers' awed silence was suddenly broken by a piercing shout from their superiors. "FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRE!" After a moment's hesitation, the men grabbed their automatic rifles, cocked them and shoved them against their shoulder. The popping sounds started again. Bardock jumped at the faint sting of the bullets, though they didn't do much besides ricochet off of his tensed body. "What in the hell?" the Saiyan said surprised, head tucked in behind his arms to cover his eyes. He slapped one of his arms towards the crowd, swinging the flurry of bullets aside. In the short paused that ensued out of stupefaction, the Saiyan dashed out of sight with none of the humans' eyes trained enough to follow him. In the corner of an alley, Bardock checked himself for wounds. His excellent armor had done a fine job at sponging most of the damage, but in some places, mostly on his arms, his skin had burst open from the impact. He had seen worse, so he paid no further attention it. He soared up from the trash littered alley, and peered for the town's edge across the rooftops. The pit the explosion had left in the concrete road was doing of fine job of stopping the mob. The authorities would have no problems now. More slyly this time, he continued further into the city, making his way through the flipped over vehicles, smell of burnt flesh and occasional scream of panic. The Saiyan tried not to become too nostalgic. He decided to stick to the rooftops, as the mob down below was far too big to even remotely allow cleaving through them. Suddenly, the scouter flickered. Bardock came to a halt. "Hmm? The numbers... they're going down. Perhaps..." He turned his face to the mob underneath him, who were frantically reaching up to him. He waved back at them, extremely amused. Focusing his attention on the scouter again, it suddenly struck him. "I see, you guys don't have a powerlevel. Well, that just made my job easier." A few taps, and Bardock had a pinpoint fix on the survivors' locations. He laughed out sarcastically: "My, is that old rut gonna be proud!" ----------------- WC: 381 Total: 2007 |

The Saiyan suddenly heard his name in the distance. He turned his head, looking directly into master Roshi's eyes. "Roshi?" Bardock said with a tone of disbelief. "What the hell are you here for?" He made a habit out of not calling the old man his master. "Cleaning up your mess is what we're here to do! 12 is back there, destroying video footage and convincing people that it was all special effects." Bardock seemingly had no interest in finding out what these 'special effects' were, or exactly what kind of mess he had left behind. The thought of alien species being unknown to man just never struck him. "So, she's called '12', that one..." he said more to himself than Roshi. "In any case, here," he said, tossing Roshi the scouter. "All of the survivors' locations are marked. I'm going after the source." Roshi nodded in approval, no doubt suspecting there was more behind this scheme as well. "You're still in for some trouble, ye hear me!" he said before Bardock raced off with a grin. In a flash of white light Roshi stood back in front of him, staring at the Saiyan through his black glasses. "I don't think you understood me well, Bardock." Bardock flinched. There was no way this old geezer was faster than him, not even at his jogging space. Is that a goddamn turtle shell on his back? Roshi clearly seemed happy with this mild shock he caused, and explained himself. "You are not on Vegeta. Most Earthlings don't even know there are other lifeforms in the universe. So. You. Can't. Go. Around. BLASTING STUFF!" There was a moment's silence between the two. " "You Saiyans are said to be all vile, but I've seen different. I hope you'll prove me right, Bardock. But if you don't, I'll kick you onto your space ship myself." "... Right," he responded. "Got it." ... I need that old man, for now. And he's hiding something from me, such speed... "Just get the survivors on a boat or something. I'll find the culprits." ------------ WC: 346 Total: 2353 |

Only a few hundred meters away, a young boy stood atop a shed, swinging a shovel at his attackers while he screamed for help. A dirty hand, covered in dried blood clawed into his pants and started him dragging down. "HELP, SOMEBODY!" He swung down the shovel, the edge cutting cleanly through his assailant's skull. Shocked, he dropped the tool, and fell over backwards as a jet of blood gushed over his abdomen. A blue light suddenly started litting up the yard. "KAAMEEHAAAMEE-HAAAAAAAAAA!" "Yikes, this really stinks!" Roshi said, referring to the stench of putrid, burnt flesh that now filled the air. "Are you ok, son? I'm sorry you had to see that." "M-m-my dad, h-he needs help!" He managed to reply. A speeder suddenly shrieked and stopped in front of the house. "12, is that you?" Roshi shouted. "Yes, master. Everything is settled at the edge of town." Roshi nodded approvingly. "Go on, that's a friend of mine. There's no more bad guys here so you just get in the car, I'll get your father." "But sir? You're just an old man... There's no way you can carry him." Roshi smiled. "Yes, and you're just a small boy. There's no way you could protect him. Now go on!" Roshi kicked open the shed and stormed inside to find the unconscious father. The man tried to talk, but Roshi told him to stuff it and assured him his son was safe. "Bardock... you better get these bastards," Roshi muttered before he swung the man over his shoulder and carried him to the speeder. As Roshi came from behind the corner, the young boy's eyes widened in disbelief. "Hehe, you should have seen me in my younger days!" Roshi replied playfully, perhaps to comfort the boy. "Take them to a hospital," he then ordered 12. She nodded. "You're not coming?" She inquired to be sure. Roshi paused for a moment, and looked at the scouter in his hands. "No, take this back to Kame Island." The android shifted gears, throttled and sped out of town. The old man then jumped up onto a rooftop, closed his eyes and focused. Yes, that's definitely you Bardock. The old man once again scolded himself for not knowing how to fly after all these years. He sprinted towards Bardock's location as fast as he could, hoping he could still aid him. Necromancers... It's got to be. ---------- WC: 403 Total: 2756 |

Bardock raised his now engulfed in blue flames hand, and sent a blast for the sealed manhole at his feet. This is all that's left... Neither the scouter nor the Saiyan's hands-on search had revealed any more life in the city... Either the culprits were long gone, or their den was underground. Several rats and other vile creatures scoured away when the Saiyan dropped down into the sewer. He snarled at the stench, knowing it would take him hours to purge it off of his boots. It was worse to him than crushing rotted corpses under his weighted boots. Three directions. Bardock twisted his head around to check out all three, and decided to take the clearest lit one, which also led to the city's centre. Grudgingly, he plotted through the brew of piss and ratshit. Drawing closer to what he thought to be his goal, faint drums could be heard. Slowly, they became louder and louder. He grinded his teeth when finally it led him to a bolted door, which slightly thumped at the drums' sounds. "So much for a stealthy approach," he said while tightening his gloves' grip. Bardock then held out both hands, fingers clawed, while he widened his stance for better posture. Tapping into his mental powers, he grasped onto the concrete, metal, and everything else that the structure was composed of. It was the most intense feat he had to pull off using them thus far. Blood was dripping from his nose and ears as he finally tore down the door, causing a large block of the wall to crash down as well. Vile water seeped into the chambers behind it. Bardock's ears were ringing, but he wiped the blood from under his nose and walked in confidently. "So, I heard there was a party here! I'm not interrupting, am I?" A sphere of energy formed around the Saiyan as he powered up to his full strength, forming a wall of water behind him. Several masked and cloaked figures stood motionless, facing his direction, but he couldn't tell if he was being watched. Having reached his summit, the energetic barrier around him subsided and again more water streamed freely into the room. --------- WC: 370 Total: 3126 |

The drums had stopped. Only the sound of streaming water and crashing masonry could be heard. The chamber was rather dim, only lit by a few candles in torches that were fixed onto pillars throughout the room. The cultists stood in a circle, in the middle of it a lone figure bent over an altar. Everyone save this person wore grey robes. This dark figure, clad in a black cloak as opposed to grey, suddenly raised himself, and turned to face Bardock. "So... You think you are a hero?" he said with an echoing voice. The figure removed his hood, revealing what had to be his face. Several traits blended in and out of the person's head. His eyes changed color by the second, as did even the tint of his skin and his facial hair. "What kind of trick is this?" Bardock exclaimed. He tried channelling his telepathy on the alleged leader. As soon as listened in, the shrieking sounds of thousands of screams blasted through Bardock's head, causing him to crash onto his knees. "You- you're... soulreapers?!" The group frantically laughed simultaneously. Bardock grabbed the wall and pulled himself up. He looked at them in disgust. "This is where you die." He raised both hands and blasted the figures with his index figures. The blue shine lit up the room, revealing several wall paintings - in blood. There wasn't much they could do to resist, the beams cut clean through their hearts. As their bodies fell to the floor, green energy could be seen dissipating from their corpses; their victims' souls. Before he left, Bardock blasted down the pillars, collapsing the chamber. No one would find out what happened in this town. ~ The monitor ticked in a steady rhythm, though the cyborg had no idea what it meant. The young boy was telling a story enthusiastically to his father, about an old man that he believed could rival Chuck Norris. His father simply smiled in return and tapped his head. A doctor joined the android. "Will they be alright?" "Yes, the boy's fine and the father will be able to go home tomorrow," the doctor replied. He turned his back to the counter where he picked up a form. "Do you mind filling these out, miss, as you're the person respo-- Miss?" ~ "Where have you been!" Roshi said as he came puffing to Bardock. The Saiyan rose from the water, and looked at his master. "You know, fixing shit," he replied casually. "I'm washing up," he added before the old man could ask. "Hmm. Well, you did good, Bardock. I'm proud," Roshi commented before heading inside Kame House. No doubt to check out the latest Penthouse that had arrived. Suddenly a shrieking noise came from within the building. "WHERE IS IT?!" Roshi screamed. Whoever was in the living room at the time either cowered in fear or struggled to keep their serious. "Bardock! Go to Central City and bring me my Penthouse!" he screamed while he stormed outside, knocking over a small table as he did so, and a rinkling sound followed. "... And some window cleaner. And super glue!" "What do you think I am, your errand boy?" Bardock shouted back. "GO NOW OR I WILL KICK YOU OUT OF THE HOUSE!" ... Old dudes and their magazines. "I'll leave in 2 minutes, grumpy." He made his way back to the beach, where he left his clothes to dry. After drying and getting dressed, he went inside where he found Master Roshi almost having a seizure. "GOOOOOOOO!" He screamed. "Must be withdrawal symptoms or something... ," the Saiyan muttered to himself. Penthouse, window cleaner, and super glue. Easy peasy. --------- WC: 614 Total: 3740 |
