The clouds were high today on the ever sunny planet of Namek. Nail stood with the Guru, his face emotionless and blank. His days never ended as the protector of the Guru, but he longed for some excitement in his life. He had gone soft in these long days. As he stood by his old master, the old one turned towards him and said,

Nail... Go my friend, go do something today. I will be fine.

But the Namekian looked on with hard unblinking eyes and replied,

No Master, I will not leave you... It is and always will be my sacred duty to protect you. It is unthinkable.

But the old Guru only sighed softly and then said in reply,

I always hate to do this Nail, but as your Master I command you to go out and leave me for the day.

The Namekian Nail grit his teeth, it was against his code to disobey the order of the Guru, so with a heavy heart the Namekian replied.

Y..Ye...Yes Sir...

He made sure the Guru was content and then left the temple. Looking about on top of the large rock, he stared off into the distance. There was a Namekian village nearby, maybe he could go and see how everyone there was doing.

He shot off the rock and sped towards the village. Looking back multiple times, as if he expected the Guru to get ambushed at any time. As he flew, he looked down on the beautiful planet. Lakes and rivers were abundant on the planet, as well as trees and bushes.

It was such a beautiful place, it would be a shame if anything ever happened to it. As Nail flew he thought to himself,

I hope the Guru is O.K... What am I going to do today? I suppose I will find something in the village... I hope so at least...

He stared ahead as he flew, his face emotionless and strict like he usually was.

Landing down in the village, the Namekian Nail looked around. There were few of them out, it was surprising considering it was a larger village. But only three Namekians could be seen out of the huts that they called home. Nail walked over to a nearby Namekian and with a quizzical face asked,

Excuse me sir, but where is everyone?

The Namekian stopped and bowed in greeting to Nail and then replied

There all gathered at the house of the elder Mumbosa, he is sick.

Nail said thank you and then started to walk to where his friend Mumbosa was, he was dear friends with the old Namekian, it pained him to hear his friend was sick. Walking into the hut, he saw that most of the village was gathered in there. Pushing lightly through the crowd, he saw the old elder on his bed with his two sons around him. Nail pushed to the front of the crowd and kneeled down next to the old man. The two young boys next to him looked at him. They knew the Namekian as well so they did nothing to stop him.

Nail looked at the elder and asked,

Wise Mumbosa, is there anything I can help you with?

The old elder coughed several times, each cough racking his body. But then he muttered to the Namekian.

You have always been there in our time of need Nail, I can no longer provide my family with the fish we need. I would ask someone else to do it, but the others are busy as we Namekians are. Will you fish for my family Nail? I will pay you as much as I can and I only need you to fish for a week. Can you do it for me?

The Namekian nodded, fishing was a simple task. All it required was sitting around doing nothing while waiting for a fish to bite. He sighed inwardly, he had been hoping for something of action and excitement. But he dared not refuse his elder.

He stood up and grabbed the fishing pole off the wall, better get started now...

Walking to the river was a easy task. But walking to a good spot to fish was the challenge. There were many places to fish, but only a few held real bounty. Walking down the river, he checked for the key signs. The occasional flopper (a fish that leaped out). A sandy bank surrounded by a shallow pond was a good spot as well.

Finally he found the absolute perfect spot, a sandy bank. Crisp waters and there were two floppers within five minutes. Setting down on the bank, he prepared the line. Fitting it with a proper hook and bait. Casting it out, it was now the custom to just wait. It was odd, Nail wondered why the Namekian elder needed fish in the first place. Since Namekians didn't eat. He had said it was to provide for his family. But what needed providing? He shrugged.

It was a boring time, sitting about on the lake. Nail set the line on a rigged pole. So that if there was a bite it would wiggle. Laying back and resting his foot on the pole, he closed his eyes. Thinking and dreaming. Then, reality popped into his head when he felt a small wriggle. Grabbing the pole, he had a fierce battle of tug-and-war with a fish. After a heated fight, Nail proved victor, yanking the fish from the water and laying it on the grass.

He grabbed the skinning knife and set to work, removing the organs and cleaning the fish. But then a large splash came from the corner of his eye. Turning, he could see large ripples. But dispelling it, he went back to work on the fish. Finally getting it cleaned he set it on a rigged line, he placed it in the grass so the fish hung.

Getting up, he walked away for a few seconds. Busy getting a pack to place the fish in, but when he had come back. The catch was gone. Looking about, his first instinct was a wild animal. But then he looked at the bank. The sand was all messed up and the grass seemed torn.

Then, in an instant a extremely large splash erupted from the water. A very large fish, with hooked teeth and a nasty face. Was staring him right in the face. The fish that Nail had caught was still hanging from the monsters mouth. Nail sighed softly. Being a stubborn Namekian, he HAD to get his catch back. Taking off his weighted training gear. He looked up at the fish and nodded.

Time to make some fishsticks...

Nail charged up at the fish, grabbing it's mouth and trying to tear it apart to get his fish back. But the giant behemoth splashed down and hit the cold water. Nail looked around, his eyes stinging but he was able to get a good look. It was much deeper than he had first assumed. Having troubles trying to get back his fish in the water. His blows were slowed and the fish was in it's element. Nail needed to breath eventually. Letting go of the fish. He hit the surface of the water with a pant. Sucking in great breaths of air. He looked around.

He could see the upper body of his fishy friend swimming away, Nail rose into the air and flew after the fish, desperate not to lose and give up. Trailing after the fish and able to keep speed, he charge electricity into his antenna, see how the fishy liked a bolt of volts! Firing a Tsu No Beam at the fish, it gave a shudder. But kept on going like a demon possesed! Nail grit his teeth, he had lost a little ki on that bolt. Charging up again for another bolt. Nail flew down and got closer to the fishy foe.

Grasping it's back, it panicked again and went underwater, but not before Nail realized this and hid the electric charge. Fighting with the fish for a few more seconds, he grew pissed, this was no longer a fight for the catch. It was him or it!!

Flying into the air with a splash of rage, he charged the electric blast to full power. Firing it down into the water, his antennae prickled and his body jolted slightly at the electric charge. The river seemed to sparkle and crack and then it was still. Nail looked around, then to his surprise several fish floated to the top, the electricity killing them and stopping there hearts. Nail started to go down to collect the fish. But then as he picked the first one up, his behemoth hit the surface, it's heart having stopped too.

Nail looked around, there were enough fish here to support the old man's whatever he was doing for quite awhile even without the giant one. Nail flew back for a few minutes until he found the bank with his supplies. Grabbing a bag and line for the fish, he went back and put all the ones that would fit on the line, allowing them to dry for awhile before putting them in the bag. Hefting up the behemoth fish, he landed down on the ground and started heading back for the village.

Arriving at the village and ignoring the jealous and surprised looks coming from his brother Namekians. He walked straight into the house of the old elder Mumobsa and laid the bag down on the table nearby. He walked over to where the old elder was and laid the giant fish over his knee. Although he said it was giant and a behemoth, it wasn't as huge as a tree or a house. It was probably around fourteen or fifteen pounds. With the strength of a warrior class Namekian it was easy to hoist it on his knee.

Nail said to the old elder,

I had a great catch today my old friend. I don't think I will need to go back for the rest of the week.

The old man chuckled through coughs and grunts and replied,

No, I don't think you will, that is a nice fish Nail. Thank you kindly, go back to the Guru, he sent Dende while you were gone to check. They want you back at the temple. Something abou- *cough* something about a training session.

Nail nodded and pat the hand of the old elder, laying the fish down on a rug (yes it was a clean rug). He stood up and walked out of the tent, leaving to go meet the elder, it was time for a training session with Dende.

Nail had finished the training session with the Guru and Dende, now taking some free time, he went back to the village to check on the old elder. Flying back down into the village, he looked around. Then, his eyes opened wide as he saw the old elder Mumbosa come out of his tent. Looking as alive and as fresh as he had been before the sickness had plagued him, walking over to him the Namekian Guardian asked,

My old friend!? How is it that you are as healthy as before?

The old elder smiled and laughed heartily. His eyes twinkling as he replied,

When I asked you to go fishing I said it was to fish for my family correct? Mehehehehe! The oils of the fish you "caught" had very strong healing properties. Matter of fact? I have never felt better! Ehehehehehe!

Nail shrugged off the feeling of surprise, he had wondered what the old timer was going to do with the fish, now he knew. Saying goodbye to the elder and walking around the corner, his mouth fell agape. There was the bag of fish he had caught and the giant fish and they were all in a firepit. As the Namekian lit the fire, the one called Nail ran back and got the elder. Showing him the firepit with a look of confusion, the old man smirked slightly and then said,

In my old fuddy duddleness, I forgot to mention that I only needed ONE FISH! EHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE!

Nail closed his eyes and shook his head. At least he hadn't spent the whole week out on the lake... His eye twitching once, he turned around and flew up into the air. It was unclear if it was rage or stupidity that drove him. But he could really use a nice peaceful fishing session...

Fin~
