"Three weeks, i've been training under Master Roshi and for what?..." Jai asked himself, When we meet, he said that he would train me, I was over the moon, after all he is a legendary master in the martial arts. Jai sighed, loudly as he looked out towards the crystal clear water, Just of Kame house beach. Jai glanced behind him, seeing master Roshi, he glared at the house unsurprisingly, Master Roshi was lazily dozing away in his beach chair. "Master Roshi," Jai called out, "I'm here for my trial now." Master Roshi didn't move. I guess when he had said train me he actually meant “chill out with.” They did nothing but go around and collect new semi-nude and pornographic magazines for Roshi. Jai excoriated the time he spent with Roshi doing nothing. That wasn’t helping either one of them, nor did it do anything useful – except satisfy Roshi’s libido.[/i] Jai thought. Jai the kicked the beach chair, it then rolled over onto its side, causing Master Roshi to wake up angrily. Master Roshi, then sent some sand forwards. His head shot from side to side, looking for the source of the 'accident' -- and then his eyes, finally landed on the slightly annoyed Jai that was stood in front of him, being to pace. Master Roshi watched as he asked "Huh? Whoa wha? Just happened?! How did I end up on the sandy beach floor? What happened to my beach chair?!" Roshi asked as he clambered back up to his feet. Jai chuckled at the seemingly endless questions, as he continued to pace waiting for Master Roshi to explain his trial, Jase had secretly been looking forwards to this he wanted nothing more then to prove himself to Master Roshi, so that maybe he could be trained properly. Jai felt Master Roshi eyes upon him, he turned calmly towards him, whilst trying to bury his emotions. Jai smiled and watched as Master Roshi pinched the rim of his sunglasses between his thumb and forefinger, and adjusted the frames smoothly. "Ah, so it's you, Jai! You didn't knock my chair down did you?" Roshi asked. Jai chuckled, with a small bow of the head, he felt a thirst for a little lie, anything to keep Master Roshi happy at the moment was necessary now. ------------------------- Word Count: 387 |

“So what's this task Master Roshi?” Jai asked, “Oh and it better not be go break into a store and rob a lot of items. Like your adult magazines for example” Jai asked, amusing himself, a wide smirk striking his face, everyone else seemed to be smiling. However, it was painfully obvious that they weren’t as they appeared . Master Roshi however, was clearly not amused and was obviously thinking up a horrible punishment for Jai's joke. “I want you to go to the desert, and live there for a week whilst not eating a single meal, or getting a single drink, unless it is earned, you also are banned from using your ability's on this mission. All right?” Master Roshi stated, a malicious grin appearing on his face. Jai chuckled loudly “you can't be serious, the food bit itself isn't even possible yet? How am I meant to cook a fabulous meal, we don’t even have time for a minute brake,” Jai answered back, his eyes wandering aimlessly around the sandy beach. Master Roshi fiddled with his glasses once more, he caressed the rim of his sunglasses between his thumb and forefinger, and adjusted the frames smoothly. Master Roshi, looked away from Jai, his eyes wandered to the sun, before he glimpsed the water and thought of something. “Your right Jai, that wasn't fair, Or even possible” Master Roshi stated with a wide cackle. Jai nodded wiping the sweat from his forehead. “Fine, I'll have some task here, at Kame's house for you, though there maybe another if I'm impressed. The once I'm out of ideas we will battle so that you can prove, you have learnt everything I have taught you, Lessons start tomorrow your rooms still free go and get some sleep.” Master Roshi, a warm smile on his face, Jai quietly scooped up his bags and entered the large pink house, with a red roof. Everything was exactly how he remembered it, the wood tile floor, the cream paint coloured walls. Jai nodded at Master Roshi before he turned and tried to walk up the stair, a small stumble midway however he soon reached the bed. Jai was very tired now, it took no longer then a minute of him reaching the bed for him to fall asleep. --------------------- Word Count: 387 |

Morning came terribly quickly, Jai had only slept lightly though he constantly waking up and dropping back off into his dreams. Master Roshi woke Jai up before the sun had risen. Jai wasn’t pleased, in fact he through his alarm clock at him, though thankfully for Jai, Roshi really didn;t seem to mind, in fact he enjoyed there little argument before the real training got going. but the fact that he was going to become even stronger after these trials made up for it. Roshi led Jai to the northern tip of the island they were on, and pointed north. “Swim that-a-way! Until you see land, no stoppin’! Now tally-ho, land'luver!” Roshi needed to stop using lingo back from the pirate era. Jai laughed. Swim?, he thought, wow what was I worried about? Jai dove in head first after taking off most of his clothing, this was something he really enjoyed doing, though he had never done such long distance before. The refreshing water giving him a small boost in adrenaline. He swam, and swam, and swam. He kept swimming until he realized that heading north landed him in an ocean. That fucker Roshi knew what he was doing all along. But Jai had no choice to swim and swim. He heard the faint buzzing of a motor engine in the distant. He looked its way, and saw Roshi approaching him on a boat. “Goddamit, I said swim!” Roshi yelled, holding one fist in the air, and the other on the steering wheel. Jai raised his hand and thought about giving Roshi the finger, but gave him a thumbs-up instead. Jai continued to swim at a set rate until he saw the faint outline of a island on the horizon. There wasn’t much longer to go before he heard “Now go to that land you can see Jai!” Master Roshi, bellowed at the top of his voice, Jai groaned. He could handle the swimming; the only drawback was that it was boring. Jai hated being bored. He’d rather be back at the island, trying to catch fish with his hands, now that was fun. Seriously hard but great fun. Jai shivered slightly the coolness of the water hitting him. That was the past. Right now, he had no choice but to swim and swim. ------------------------------------ Word Count: 388 |

Jai was laid out on the island, panting for air.He had finally stopped swimming – sometime later then he had expected but it was done now. It had taken all the stamina the young Saiyan hybrid had to make it this far. He looked over at Roshi who was chilling on his beach chair, getting a tan. He looked at Jai, and smiled his creepy smile. He was missing a few teeth, and Jai wanted to knock a few more out, after this terrible swim. He had done nothing but swim for the past two days, and all Roshi did was make sure he was swimming by following along with his boat. “Now! Let’s swim back! faster” Roshi said, standing up, and pointing towards the island. The old man had a good sense of direction, apparently. “Jai, the reason I'm pushing you so hard is because theres a tournament coming up and I'm pretty confident you can win” Roshi told him. Jai dove back into the water, a curse on Roshi sprang to his mind, but then again he had trained him now. Jai hoped that he would just give out and die. But that would deter him from his goal: learn as much as possible from this amazingly strange martial artist. He swam, and swam some more. This time, it took four days. Jai had no more in him. He passed out as soon as he stepped foot on the island, falling face first into the sand, however it didn’t feel that bad it felt like falling onto his bed to him. Master Roshi sighed looking down at the exhausted Jai and gave him a gentle kick, Jai jumped to his feet like a child who had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar, after being told he couldn't have one. “It's al right, Jai go to bed we will do more training tomorrow” Master Roshi stated, as he glanced down at his watch “Not long need to get him ready, still he's a good student so I am very hopeful” Roshi muttered to himself. Looking out to the midnight sky full of beautiful white stars, he fiddled with his glasses before he to turned and walked inside for some sleep. ------------------------------------------------------- Word Count: 378 |

The next morning Jai was up at the crack of dawn, eager to get started. He had already finished his breakfast when a drowsy Master Roshi entered the room, Jai looked up at him sharply and Master Roshi gave a loud yawn. Jai sighed and asked "So you believe I can win this tournament?"he twiddled his thumbs, clearly anxious. He was surprised by Master Roshi's faith in him "I don't want to let you down, so I will certainly try my best." Jai added. "You will not let me down, because you will win. There is no question, I will show you a technique which will give you the power to defeat your opponents in battle; regardless of their physical strength." he replied, standing once he had finished his breakfast. "You will be facing some of the strongest warriors on this planet, some who have been training for far longer than you have and have seen more combat that you perhaps will in your entire life." Roshi added, not helping Jai's nerves. Jai tried to show confidence and answered back with, "I think I can hold my own, but what is this technique you are going to show me? How come you have not taught it to me yet?" He asked, anger once again flaring within him. "Ah you are not ready yet, my young student, you must learn to control your temper. So for today you must clean the mess outside and prepare something to eat!. Then we will continue with your normal training tonight, and when I feel you are ready I will show you the technique!" Jai grumbled but didn't disagree, instead he walked out onto the beach again and began to slowly pick up the trash which lay across the area. Cleaning only took a few moments to clear the area of the garbage yet Jai stay alone next to the shore for a while, looking out towards the vast ocean which slowly faded into night. The water was a relaxant for Jai, its subtle beauty yet vast strength were both apparent in a simply observation of its enormity. The cool breeze reflected a decent drop in temperature, which Jai welcomed, and the sand was finally tolerable to touch. After a few moments of thought Jai rose and turned to face Kame house. "I'm ready to begin tonight's training." he yelled to Master Roshi, who was sitting in the living room still watching the aerobics tape. ------------------------- Word Count: 410 |

Master Roshi left the house with what appeared to be the remains of a tree, guessing his lesson was going to be weapon related, Jai instinctively drew his Capsule Corporation sword, holding the blade behind his back. (Galen Marek stance Force Unleashed.) Master Roshi then stopped, just in front of Jai. The staff moved faster then Jai could follow and the hard wood smashed into the back of his right knee, buckling him for a moment, but he remained standing. As he pulled the blade aside he pushed it to his right, in an attempt to cut the old man's shoulder on the return. Roshi quickly twisted his arm so that his forearm seemed to cover his eyes, flicking his wrist as the staff passed across his body, and managed to position his weapon against his shoulder. The blade dragged across the wood, eating into it somewhat, but failed to register any damage. "You're learning, but you still have much to do before you will strike me!" Roshi laughed as Jai stepped back. "But lets see what you can do." Jai rushed forward and the launched several attacks, moving with great speed, yet the Turtle Hermit was able to deflect or dodge every single one. His hands were slowly blistering from the sword slamming into the thick wooden staff over and over again, and shockingly his staff seemed to be taking minimal damage. They continued on like this for several minutes until Roshi felt that Jai had enough weapons training, at which time he deflected an oncoming attack and sent Jai to the ground with a solid thrust of the staff. "All right, you seem to have a decent enough of an understanding of the sword now lets show you something new." he spoke softly and without stress, as if he had not just spent the better part of an hour in a sparring match."All right so your going to show me that move?" Jai replied, taking a moment before he was able to get back to his feet. He then placed the sword back into its slot and waited for Master Roshi to continue. ---------------------------------- Word Count: 355 |

"Now watch closely, this technique is very powerful and very dangerous. You must only use this in the face of real danger and always be mindful of the energy you have already exerted, as if you focus too much into the attack you will drain yourself and could die." Master Roshi moved Jai back a bit, then stepped forwards digging his feet into the sand. "First you want to channel your energy, understand that it flows freely through your body and learn to control it, and start to gather it." He slowly began to gather energy, his aura flickering around him. Sand near the two slowly began to rise into the air and Jai could feel the energy flowing from the Turtle Hermits body. Jai watched on, unsure as to what exactly was going to come next but extremely eager to see the final product of this attack. "Now once you have harnessed the energy you will hold your hands infront of you, forming it into a powerful collection, and then released it. The attack will send a long blue beam at the enemy, the attack is formed in cupped hands at your side. it is also a very devestating attack and will hurt badly so do not use unless absolutely required." Master Roshi stated. As he slowly cupped his hands, at his side, a blue ebergy ball formed “Ka-me-ha-me-ha” Jai could feel the ground vibrate. Sand was now lifting to eye level in certain areas and the energy the old warrior was emitting was tremendous. Master Roshi moved his arms forwards and a large wave of blue energy was fired in front of Master Roshi, “ha” he cried and the blue energy wave exploded sending a blast of energy forwards into the cold water.. "Now, you try." Roshi stepped back and then looked at Jai, nodding as the young warrior stepped forward. Jai slowly gathered his energy and followed what Roshi had done, yet when he cuffed his hands he gathered almost nothing compared to his masters massive attack and his wave dissolved at only a few feet out off the ocean. "Again." So he tried again, and again, and again. They remained on the shoreline until the sun rose the next morning, but as it did it gave way to a perfect view of a massive blue energy blast moving the brilliant clear water aside and disapearing into the horizon. ------------------------------------- Word Count: 399 |

South City was bustling with activity, men and women in suits rushed frantically down every street and cars jammed the roads with traffic. There was tremendous activity the morning Jai arrived, and he was more than willing to spend some time enjoying the big city way of live before he would make his way to check in to the invitational. He walked along the main street and came across a small pizza place, deciding that a good lunch would be a necessity for victory, and went inside. He had not eaten pizza since he was a child and he quickly devoured two slices and downed a bottle of water. The young warrior sat and watched as other people came in and out, taking their lunch breaks and hurrying back to their ordinary jobs. He knew he could never live like that. He paid for his food and left, making his way towards the destination he was instructed to find by his master, a bit unsure as to its exact location. It took a few minutes of wondering around until he found it, noticing a massive building which seemed to be a sporting arena, and made his way inside. Once inside he was immediately greeted by an usher who requested a ticket, to which he responded that he had none and rather was a participant. "You are a fighter eh?" the usher remarked. "You don't look like much." Jai glared at him, but shruged “you'll see” he muttered, the ushar obviously didn't hear him, so Jai said "I'm fighting on behalf of the Turtle Hermit, Master Roshi!" Jai took an aggressive step forward, not happy with the way he was being addressed. "Ah, yes here it is. Jai Mathews eh? Well hurry along then, the fighters locker room is to the left. You will be fighting Cal, student of the way of the Hawk." Jai nodded, eyed down the announcer one final time, and then made his way into the locker room. The locker room had a huge collection of trainers, staff, reporters and Jai assumed the other fighters loomed somewhere else. There was no shortage of luxury with several massive tubs for after the fight along the far wall, several beds across the middle with weights, ropes and other training items next to them. Several open wooden lockers were also scattered across the large room, one marked Master Roshi, sat next to the large metal tubs and just away from the commotion. Jai smiled when he saw this, not one to be bothered with all of that nonsense before a fight, and moved over to his assigned area. He sat in the small wooden stool and looked inside the locker, reading over a set of rules which had been posted. Rules: I. Victory Achieved by RING OUT or KNOCKOUT II. Single Elimination He expected more regulations to be in place for such a spectacle, taking a seat and waiting for the final match to begin Jai was sat arms folded, sillently thinking through what he wanted to do in the next match until... "Semi-Final Fight, Turtle Student Jai vs Hawk Student Cal!" an announcer called he then leaded Jai towards the arena. The ring was in a massive area, a dome with the roof seemingly removable and half open to let in afternoon sunlight, with thousands of people in the stands. Jai made his way down the long walkway and into the ring, which was simply an elevated wooden platform about twenty five yards in each direction. He stepped up and looked around, taking in the defining noise of the crowds and the excitement of the arena before looking across the ring at his opponent. --------------------- Word Count: 616 |

His opponent was a large man with a bald head and muscles on top of muscles. He wore a set of tight black shorts and matching gloves, no shirt or shoes. He had scars across his face and chest, probably from combat of some type, and looked across the ring at Jai with a stoic look on his face that even Jai found a bit unnerving. Jai swung his arms in circles, trying to loosen himself up, but before he was able to finish he heard a light ping on the bell and his challenger rushed towards him. The large man swung wildly at Jai, who was able to duck underneath the first attack, and nearly fell from the ring. Jai leapt to the side and countered with a quick jab, catching the muscular jaw, and then followed with a two piece combination to the man's ribs. Each time he connected his hands stung, as if he was hitting concrete, yet he resolved to work through it. The two went back and forth, each landing shots for the most part at will, turning the battle from a test of skill more into a test of strength and endurance. Each time the massive fighter's hands slammed into Jai's body he felt his stomach muscles tighten up, as if all the air had fled from his lungs in an instant. He could not quit though, not after he had trained as hard as he had and spent as many nights awake dreaming of his chance to show his true talent as he had. There would be no lose today, certainly not to a brute with minimal fighting skill. After a few minutes Jai realized that a battle of attrition was not the most intelligent idea, especially with another fight still to come, and when the chance arose he ducked into a wild punch and jumped into the air. He spun and landed a back kick against the man's jaw and knocked him sideways, then from the air send forth a burst of quick energy dan attacks, which connected with his side, knocking him off the side of the ring. The crowd erupted with cheers before he even hit the ground. ------------------------------------ Word Count: 368 |

The next match started straight after so Jai didn't get to rest before the finals. There were no words exchanged before the bell rang, and in an instant the two men were locked in combat. Each unloaded everything they had, moving with such speed that most in the crowds couldn't even follow, trying to gain some type of advantage over the other. Jai landed a solid shot to his opponents ribs, stumbling him for just a moment, before extending himself to far and taking a good kick to the jaw for his troubles. The high kick knocked him back and to the ground, nearly off the edge of the platform, and Que quickly moved in for the kill. The young Jai was narrowly able to avoid an axe kick, which easily could have separated his head from his shoulders, and spun back to his feet before taking off into the air above the ring. His challenger followed and the two again traded blows, this time neither really landing anything significant while only adding to the degree of difficulty for the average fans to even follow the fight. Each man moved with such speed that even they had trouble following one another, which was only intensified by neither desire to allow the other to knock them to the ground and perhaps out of the ring. "You're quite a challenge, it will be tragic that you must die on this day!" Que shouted before managing to land a solid backhand which sent Jai soaring to the ground before slamming into the hard wooden ring. "Tragic indeed" Que bellowed. In the moment that his opponent wasted speaking Jai was able to catch his breath and then jump to his feet, once again ready to do battle. As he stood his opponent unleashed a powerful red energy wave, one that would surely devastate should it land, and knowing that it had to have expended a ton of energy Jai launched his counter attack. He used his speed to seemingly vanish, teleporting behind his opponent who still looked on at the ring which exploded into dozens of pieces upon impact. "Kamehameha" Jai shouted quickly, his hands out stretched pointed towards the sky and Que, Que flew towards him. “Big mistake” muttered Jai, as Que was then struck by the long wave of blue energy. Jai watched as Que was sent hurtling towards the seats and out of the ring. The crowd erupted into a cheer, and the announcer entered the ring hailing Jai as the victor. He then presented him with a note, You have surpassed my training I have nothing left to teach you so you may travel now if you wish, however Kami another of the earth trainers may be able to teach you something. ------------------------------- Word Count: 464 Total Word Count: 4152 |
