Alex stood in the rear hold of the Rukotoian bulk cruiser, Boroth, waiting for any orders of any kind. He was just a lowly Maximus class android, meaning that he was just a patrol scout with virtually no power at all. All he had was the ability to fly and a rather outdated built in scouter, which was rather faulty at times. He couldn’t even launch a simple ki energy ball. If he wanted to use any of his ki energy, he had to focus it through a weapon known as a ki rifle, a type of weapon that looked like shotgun that was plated in chrome with a large red ruby in place of the hand grip that was on the underside of the barrel. Alex used the weapon by focusing his ki energy into that ruby, then he would take aim and fire at his target, resulting in a red beam of ki energy launching out of the barrel. It wasn’t that strong, but it was better then no range weapon at all. Without much else to do since he had already cleaned his ki rifle, Alex started to go over the Boroth’s blue prints in his head… again. The Boroth looked like a horseshoe crab with small cylinder shaped thrusters mounted along the rear plating. It was rather large, capable of carrying over 500 Rukotoian passengers, enough supplies to last 10 years, and a large cargo hold for carrying goods or other equipment… or in this case, low class androids. It wasn’t very well armed, nor was it that fast… but it could travel long distances with ease, and it rarely needed to stop for supplies. It was an old ship, but it still had plenty of life in it, and was nicked named ‘trustworthy.’ Currently though, the Boroth had only a minimal crew, counting no higher then 25 Rukotoians, 4 Maccabee class androids for heavy combat missions, and a bunch of lower class androids that did minor duties around the ship… or sat in the hold like Alex was, collecting dust. The Boroth was currently moving through space, heading for a planet that Alex didn’t recognize the name of. Alex was about to shut his cyan glowing eyes when two Rukotoian crewmembers walked down into the rear hold, as if they were looking for something. While they were down here, they started to talk to each other. ”Hey, did you hear what the captain and the Maccabee’s were talking about a moment ago?” the first one asked as he opened a crate marked ‘plasma,’ and pulled out a neon blue crystal that was roughly the size of a plum. ”Nope. I was two decks below repairing a Maximus class android. I swear that class of android is useless.” the other Rukotoian crewmember replied as she pulled out another crystal from that same box, and then helped close it up. When she said this, Alex looked down and suppressed a sigh. For an android, he was always easily depressed, but it was a result of his programming, nothing more. He then looked back up at them, waiting for them to continue their conversation. Post word count: 526 |

Alex didn’t have to wait long before the two Rukotoians continued their conversation about what the captain and the Maccabee class androids were talking about. ”They said that we’re trying to find the last known location of the O’Ryan unit. He’s the Queen’s personal Maccabee class android. He was sent ahead of all of us, and then he suddenly vanished off the radar roughly two days ago. His homing beacon just went dead.” the first Rukotoian said, then popped the crystal into his mouth. His acidic saliva quickly dissolved the crystal, turning it into a liquid that he could swallow and digest. ”The O’Ryan unit? That Maccabee is the most powerful of all the Maccabee units. Why should we be worried about him? He might just be in a place where there is a bunch of interference. What does that this have to do with us?” the other Rukotoian asked as the first one swallowed the crystalline liquid in his mouth before she placed the crystal she was holding into her mouth so she could consume it as well. ”We’re the closest ship to his location. As a result, we detected something that he sent out before his beacon suddenly cut out… a distress signal. Think about it… if the O’Ryan unit sent a distress signal, then he was in a battle that he was starting to lose in! The O’Ryan unit has information about the Rukotoian race that can’t fall into the wrong hands.” the first one responded with as he turned to face a group of androids that were currently offline. ”Wait, are you telling me what I think you’re telling me? That we’re about to-“ ”We already have. Because we are the closest, our ship has changed course had we’re currently heading towards the O’Ryan unit’s last known location. We’re going on a retrieval mission for our fleet.” the first Rukotoian said as he started to check the system readings for the androids he was looking over. Alex’s eyebrows went up. He had once fought side by side with the O’Ryan unit when their planet was being invaded by a being that introduced herself as Ice. O’Ryan had broken off from the fight to face Ice herself when she seemed to change her form, and Alex was forced to fight several enemy soldiers at once. To this day, Alex still couldn’t get over the fact that he had managed to take down 5 enemy soldiers before the Maccabee platoon showed up, and took over the battle for him. He had been upgraded as a result of that battle with a more advanced combat matrix, which made him quite the hand to hand fighter, but he was still nothing more then a lowly Maximus unit. Alex was about to shut himself down and prepare himself for the long trip to this unknown planet when the ship suddenly lurched. Post word count: 484 Total word count: 1013 |

Alex was nearly thrown off his feet when the Boroth lurched suddenly, and had to grab onto a support rail to keep from falling. So much for his standing still like a statue ploy to ease drop on the conversation. He managed to steady himself on his feet, but then the cruiser lurched again, and this time he was thrown off of his feet and landed on the deck plates hard, right on top of his ki rifle. He looked over at the two Rukotoians that were in the cargo hold with him, and saw that they were being thrown around like rag dolls. Seeing them being thrown around like that by the shaking ship, Alex’s subroutines kicked in, resulting in him trying to get over to them so he could catch them and get them to some place safe. However, as he tired to move, Alex found himself just as helpless and was being thrown around too! As warning sirens started to blare, Alex started to use his flight ability to catch himself, and flew over to the two Rukotoian crewmen, and carefully picked them up. The male had a bloody nose from falling face first onto the neck plates, and the female had a broken arm from a crate full of crystals slamming into her. Alex quickly flew out of the hold and up towards the medical wing, where they would be a bit safer. As he flew, an announcement started to play over the ship wide speakers. ”This is the captain. We have been caught in an uncharted meteor shower and our main engines have been hit. Our ship is being pulled in by the gravitational force of a nearby planet, and we can’t pull free. All hands, prepare for crash landing!” the captain said over the PA in her experienced tone, but there was a hint of fear in her voice. And Alex knew why. ”This ship isn’t built for atmospheric flight, or landing on a planet. It’s too bulky. We’ll be completely destroyed on impact!” Alex thought as he sat the two wounded Rukotoians in crash landing chairs within the medical wing and buckled them in. He then flew back down into the hold, where he thought he would be the safest. Before he could get there though, the ship suddenly lurched again and started to spin out of control as it started to enter the atmosphere of the planet that was pulling it in. Alex tried to grab a hold of something to keep himself from being tossed around so much, but he couldn’t. Alex then heard a horrid sound… metal ripping, followed by rushing air. He looked over his shoulder and saw a hull breach forming. The rushing air was too much for his weak mass production android frame, and was quickly being sucked towards the hull breach. If he was sucked out of that thing… he was doomed. There was no way he could survive reentry outside the ship, heck, there was barely any chance that the Boroth would survive reentry either! Alex tried to grab something… anything… to keep himself from being sucked out into the vacuum of space… only to have something grab his leg right before he reached the breach. Alex looked back to see another android holding his leg, and she seemed to be completely unaffected by the rushing air. Alex’s went wide when he realized that she was one of the Maccabee type androids aboard. ”Need a hand, little one?” the android asked as she pulled him in towards her, and then wrapped an arm around him so he wouldn’t be sucked out of the breach. At the sound of her voice, Alex realized that the Maccabee that was holding him was Silvana, the chief engineer’s personal Maccabee. Silvana flew away from the breach with ease, then stepped inside small room and held Alex against the wall so he would be safe from the impact. Alex looked back at her, wondering why she was doing this… but he didn’t have a chance to ask her why. For the very next instant, the Boroth slammed into the ground. The moment that the Boroth hit the ground, Alex’s head was slammed against a bulkhead, resulting in several data chips in his head getting knocked out of place, which resulted in Alex going into standby mode… the android equivalent of being knocked out. Silvana saw this and could detect what had happened, and held onto him, hoping that he would survive the crash. She knew that very few were going to survive, and that their mission was going to be jeopardized from this crash. However, the more that survived the better. There wasn’t much that she could do now, but wait for this massacre of a crash to end. The nose of the Boroth slammed into the ground and acted like a shovel as the bulk cruiser plowed through the ground, leaving a trail of destruction in it’s path. The Boroth’s tail end slammed into the ground a few moments later, causing everything within the ship to get thrown around like they were in a tossed salad, including Alex and Silvana. The Boroth plowed through the ground, then down a beach, and finally stopped when the front have was completely underwater. The ship was in flames in several places, the front have was quickly flooding, and rear end was badly damaged from being damaged by the meteor shower. The path of destruction that the downed cruiser had left in its wake was horrid. Forests were on fire, a mountain had been leveled, and a watering hole for the wild life was now getting poisoned by a hunk of smoldering metal that was from one of the Boroth’s thrusters. Inside, Alex was laying down on the deck plates on his stomach, not moving because he was still in standby mode. Silvana was lying on top of him, badly damaged from all of the flying debris… but she was still alive and awake. With a groan, she opened her glowing purple eyes and weakly looked around as sparks started to fly from where her left shoulder blade would be located. Damage report on Silvana unit… primary power reactor severely damaged. Switching to back up power unit until repairs can be done. Ki emitters damaged. Unable to use advance attacks until repairs can be done. Left leg completely severed. Only form of locomotion that can be done is flight. Damaged report completed.” Silvana said to herself as she stared blankly at the gigantic rupture in the haul. Once that was done, she looked down at Alex to see how badly damaged he was. A compartment on the back of his head was opened, revealing the location of several data cards… and one of them was broken in half. Silvana removed the destroyed data card, and saw that it was his advance combat matrix. She looked down at slot that the combat matrix fit into to see if anything that she had would fit as well. With a smile, she used a one of her fingernails to cut a small slice into her synthetic skin behind her ear, and then pulled a data card out of that slit. It was her backup combat matrix. She carefully inserted the Maccabee class combat matrix into the Maximus class android, and then checked the rest of his data chips. Most of them were fine, but when she checked eyes to see how much they were glowing, she could see sparks coming from his eyes… a sign that his built in scouter was damaged. Silvana opened up a panel covered Alex’s temple, and used her thumb and forefinger to grab a small data card. She pulled it out, revealing that it was rather long, and had two holes in it that were the size of Alex’s eyes, and were spaced the same distance that Alex’s eyes were spaced. Silvana tossed the damaged built in scouter away, then made another slit in her synthetic skin, this time over her temple. She pulled out her built in scouter, and slid it into Alex. When she couldn’t find any more damage, she then closed up all of his panels and started him up the way that she had learned from her owner that always got a Maximus class android moving… a firm slap across the back of the head. Alex’s eyelids shot open, revealing his glowing cyan eyes. ”What? I feel… different…” Alex stated, then looked around, and realized that his field of vision looked different. It was as if he had a heads up display floating directly in front of his eyes. He turned over and saw Silvana on top of him. ”What’s-“ ”We’ll have time to talk about this later. Right now we have to move. Go and see if you can find any survivors at throughout the ship. I’m going to see what type of damage we did when we crashed.” Post word count: 807 Total word count: 2,519 |

Alex was about to ask her why he vision was different, and how come he felt a bit stronger, when Silvana stood up on her undamaged leg, then flew off out of the rupture in the haul. Unable to argue at that point, Alex stood up and flew into the bowels of the downed ship. He quickly started carrying every living being he could find out of the ship and onto the beach where they were safe… or safer at least. It was slow work, since he was moving on his own. However, every now and then he would find an android or a Rukotoian that was fit enough to help him carry people out of the remains of the bulk cruiser. Soon, Alex had 4 androids and 6 Rukotoians aiding him in gathering up the wounded and getting them out of the ship. Sadly, when they were done, there were only a total of 50 survivors, and this included the androids that were still functioning… and the only Maccabee that survived was Silvana, and she was heavily damaged. Alex flew out carrying the 51st survivor... or who would’ve been if she wasn’t dying from having her lower body crushed. It was the captain. ”Thank you Maximus unit. You should try to get as many supplies out at possible next. My ship will never fly again… which means you and everyone else must attempt to find some other way off this world and find our fleet. There is no way we can retrieve the O’Ryan unit now.” the captain whispered to him as she slowly let go of her life. She then took in one final breath, exhaled… and did not breath in again. Alex closed her eyes, laid her down gently, then stood up and looked at the other androids. ”Her final orders are to get all possible supplies out, then attempt to regain contact with our fleet. This ships’ current mission is forfeit. Move out.” Alex said with his head hung, then turned to go back towards the ship when a hand landed on his shoulder. Alex turned around to see Silvana, who was putting most of her weight on him. He quickly grabbed her and sat her down on the ground so she was leaning up against a tree. ”Alex unit, stay and talk with me. The other androids can handle that task. I need to tell you about what I did to keep you functioning.” Silvana said as she looked up at him with her glowing purple eyes. Alex sighed and sat down next to her. ”I’m listening.” he said, not sure of what to say in return. ”Good. When we crashed, your combat matrix was destroyed, so I had to replace it with my back up combat matrix-“ ”You did WHAT?!” Alex exclaimed, stunned at those words. ”I expected as much of a response from a Maximus type. My back up combat matrix is capable of storing as much information as my normal combat matrix and it also allows you to use ki energy. I also replaced your damaged built in scouter with mine, so now you can detect just as much as I was able to. Listen Alex… I am too damaged to go into any real combat, and we don’t have the ability to repair me now. I gave you my equipment so you could defend us. You are now our only hope in surviving.” Silvana said calmly, to which Alex’s jaw drop in response. Silvana wasn’t done yet. ”I will lead everyone here, and I can defend them somewhat, so you can explore this place. I must urge you to attempt to befriend the people that live on this planet Alex. We are on Namek, a planet that’s people are capable of regenerating their limbs and are quite powerful ki users. If they accept us, we will have a far better chance of surviving. They might also help you learn how to fight better, and teach you some of their combat abilities. If we can’t befriend them… then we don’t stand much of a chance surviving.” Silvana finished. Alex sighed and let his head hang some. ”Great. Just what I wanted to hear… the survival of everyone here depends on me, a simple Maximus class android. This is a Maccabee class mission you’re giving me here! This is not going to be easy at all…” Alex stated as he stood up and looked around. I am so in over my head. he thought as he looked down at his hands, wondering if he could control this new power. Post word count: 774 Total word count: 3293 |
