ADBZ's AoE OG

"Raizoku, you must realize that you have Saiyan blood flowing through your veins. We Saiyans are both feared and respected from one end of the Universe to the other, for our undeniable power in battle!", Raizoku's father could go on for many hours about how strong Saiyans are. Sure enough, he did. "For every single day you do not train, another warrior surpasses you in skill and strength! You are cheating yourself everyday you sit home and relax after work!", he continued to rant at Raizoku. Just a little longer, and he'll be done, Raizoku thought to himself. "I have been patient for far too long, allowing you to sit around and do nothing for the past three weeks! THREE WEEKS! All you have done is go to work, babysitting a Namekian child, and coming home to sleep!", He yelled at Raizoku, with spit flying through the air. He barely missed Raizoku. "Sir", if you only knew the "training" I've been through with this job, Raizoku thought to himself. He knew better than to say it out loud. It would make things worse. It was better to let this ride come to an end on it's own. After all, Raizoku knew his father was still right. Training never ended. Ever. He saw that his father's face was turning a deep, red color as he clenched his fists, spitting as he screamed. He paced the living room floor in front of the television Raizoku was trying to watch. Finally, he came to a stop, and tried a breathing exercise his wife had taught him for moments like these. He managed to calm down just a little. "If you want to work, that's fine," he said as calmly as he could muster, under his current rage filled state of mind. "But at least find a job that challenges your abilities as a Saiyan warrior! And even if you do, that shouldn't stop you from training when you get home!", he barked at Raizoku with the intensity he tried to subdue with the useless breathing exercise. Raizoku wanted so desperately to tell his father that he was working extremely hard and finally earned himself a promotion. He knew he wouldn't care at this very moment. He would have to wait not only until his father was done with this "talk" they were having, but until his father went out and somehow got all this rage out of his system. The most effective way his father expelled the rage from within, was to go out during a full moon and transform into an Oozaru. He was able to control it, fortunatley. Unlike Raizoku, he could transform during a full moon and wreak havoc whenever and however he chose. This time, he chose to fly into the sky, screaming and firing Ki blasts from his mouth into space. He had enough of destroying what little was left of Earth, so he usually just went into the sky. Raizoku had not learned to control himself in his Oozaru state. He almost hoped he would never learn to, because he liked the adrenaline rush that always came with the transformation. He knew though, that he could potentially destroy the planet he called home. He couldn't bare the thought of Earth destroyed. It almost happened many years ago... "Are you even listening to me?", Raizoku's father snapped at him, waking him from his daydream. "Yes, Sir", he responded repectfully. He straightened up on the couch and listened with as much focus as he could put forth. "It's the Saiyan way, Raizoku. Plain and simple. Even Humans train as hard as they can, should they one day find themselves defending this planet under another invasion. You have Human blood flowing through your veins as much as Saiyan, which should be reason enough for you to train as hard as you can," he continued to explain to Raizoku. Trying yet again to be calm, he decided to sit next to Raizoku and place a hand on his son's shoulder. It was meant to be a comforting gesture, but he didn't know his own strength. When he saw Raizoku grimace in slight pain, he released his shoulder and exhaled a long breath. "Son, I just want what's best for you. You are still young and strong. I have become a soft, tired, old, and beat up warrior who fell in love and out of shape," he tried explaining to Raizoku. He was obviously not happy with the man he thought of himself to be. "Sir, if you only knew how strong you still are. It's because of you that I am the man I am today. Believe in yourself", Raizoku thought. He knew that it was no use to try and explain this to him. He would just think that Raizoku was being condescending, believing himself to be weaker than his son. Raizoku would just have to let this play out. It pained him to do so, to see his father think so little of himself after falling for an Earth woman. "Will that happen to me? Will I fall for a woman and become an old, washed up warrior?", he asked himself. "I have taught you everything I know. It is now up to you to help this feeble planet defend itself against any and all threats, alien and domestic. Many brave warriors have died defending this planet. I would know, since many of them had died by my hand," Raizoku's father said with regret evident in his voice. Raizoku knew that his father regretted the events of the past. He tried harder and harder, to move on. "But that was then, and this is now. One day, Earth will face a new threat. You, my son, must be ready to meet it head on. You will have to be strong enough to defend Earth from total annihilation. Do you understand now, why you must train every single day? It is your destiny, your calling. Train hard or you will regret it, Raizoku," his father said, leaving him alone in the living room. Getting up from the couch, Raizoku went to the kitchen and saw his mother cooking breakfast. He wondered how much his mother had heard from his one sided conversation with his father. He didn't really care, he was just hungry and a little frustrated. He was much more hungry than frustrated. His appetite seemed to grow with every week of work. His mother understood that, and always had enough food prepared. "Good morning, mother", he said to her. He went to her and kissed her on the cheek, searching for food. "Good morning", she replied, handing him a plate filled with blueberry pancakes. Raizoku devoured the pancakes without even putting syrup on them, and rushed out the door. He was as anxious as he had ever been in his life, to find out the details of his promotion from a Bodyguard to a Protector. He didn't know the difference, but he was ready to find out. Fully dressed in his black uniform, he walked to work. He tried to think of ways to thank his boss for the promotion, but he was drawing a blank. He finally decided it was better to just shut up, and do his job. He had come to the realization that it was still early and the moon would not be out for at least fourteen hours. Where had his father gone off to? Raizoku hoped beyond all hope, that his father was not getting himself into any trouble. It was a possibilty. He tried to erase the thoughts of potential trouble from his mind. He was not about to lose focus on his job now, so he would think about his father's whereabouts later. He could not afford any distractions. Finally reaching the mansion where he worked, Raizoku calmly approached the gated entrance. On his first day here, he was met by a group of Android bodyguards. Now, he was able to approach the gate, and watch it open for him automatically. It was good to know that he was trusted enough that he no longer had to repeatedly explain to any Androids why he showed up daily. It was the most annoying thing he had ever endured. He was sure glad it was over. He walked inside the main building of the mansion, and was immediately met by the Namekian warrior who had tested, and hired him. "Are you ready for today?", he asked Raizoku. "I was born for this", Razioku replied with pure confidence. "This will be unlike anything you have ever been through. You will be tested far beyond what you may think is your limit. I hope you are ready", the Namekian said to Raizoku, with just a hint of concern in his voice. "Is there anything I should know about before I continue with this job?", Raizoku asked. He hoped for a challenge, but he wasn't willing to throw his life away for it. "No worries, my friend". The Namekian tried to sound reassuring. He was not successful. They had become good friends over the past few weeks, and they had gained mutual respect and trust for each other. They had sparred regularly, and both warriors had become incredibly strong. They spoke often of entering the World Tournament and facing each other, both arguing over who would win. Raizoku was no slouch. He doubted the Namekian could comprehend his level of training outside of the mansion. He would rather show him, than tell him. He could not wait until they both made it into the World Tournament. Through everything they had been through, Raizoku realized he still did not know his name. He decided that he would ask him after he found out what was in store for him. The Namekian beckoned Raizoku to follow him down the hall, to the rear exit of the mansion. As soon as they went outside, he realized the Namekian had stopped short and bowed. Raizoku couldn't immediately see who he had bowed to, due to the harsh glare of the sun. The Namekian elbowed him in the stomach, which Raizoku assumed meant "bow down, fool". He immediately bowed, rubbing his stomach. "Rise my child. I see you have brought me the Saiyan - Human Hybrid you spoke so highly of. Bring him forth, so that I may decide if he is worthy of the task I have for him", a gruff, old voice said just a few feet beyond the kneeling warriors. Raizoku also heard the faint sound of humming, as if coming from a very large vaccuum. Raizoku did not dare to look up to see who spoke about him. He was grateful though, that his Namekian friend spoke highly of him. He just hoped that it was worth it. He was up for just about anything. He was also cautious. He was not willig to throw away his life for nothing. He saw first hand how intense his job could be, but his life was never really in any danger. He had a feeling that was about to change. The Namekian warrior stood up, and addressed the body who owned the voice. "Great Guru Dende, allow me to introduce you to the finest warrior I have ever seen, Raizoku. I am confident in his ability to do exactly what you need of him. He is a capable fighter, a great tactician, and above all, loyal', he said as he smirked at Raizoku. "Great Guru Dende?", Raizoku thought. "I never would have thought in all my life, that I would ever meet the Great Guru Dende!" "Rise, Raizoku. Let me see your face", The Great Namekian said to Raizoku with unusual calmness. Rising to his feet, Raizoku was finally able to look up. He saw that the Great Namekian was in a large hovercraft. That was what Raizoku had heard humming like a vaccuum. He also noticed that the Great Namekian was wrinkled and very old, which explained the need of a hovercraft. He was not very large, but his white robe and turban made him appear as such. He was surrounded by three Namekian warriors as big as Raizoku himself. They were standing close to the hovercraft, obviously ready to defend the Great Guru no matter what the odds. Raizoku would not test their apparent loyalty. "Raizoku," he addressed him. "I have a great task for you. I see now that my son was right in choosing you to protect my family. For that, I am in your debt. But before I can repay that debt, you must do this one more thing." "Great Guru Dende, I am humbled by your words. You owe me no debt. I am just a warrior who is trying to be the best that I can be", Raizoku responded honestly. "What is it you would have me do?", he asked. "I need you to train a group of Namekians to fight. They are decent warriors, but their skills may not be enough for what is to come", the Great Guru replied. "These warriors you have brought with you?", Raizoku asked skeptically. "No, this group here has been with me for many years. They have seen many battles. I want you to train their children. Train them hard, for they do not know what is to come," he told Raizoku. Raizoku noticed the complete and utter shock on the faces of every Namekian warrior in his presence, especially his friend. An opportunity like this did not happen for everyone. He would not let this opportunity go to waste. He only had one question. "What is coming, Great Guru Dende?", he asked. "We all shall soon see", was his solemn reply. "Do you accept this task of training young, impressionable Namekian warriors?", The Great Guru Dende asked Raizoku. "It would be an honor", Raizoku replied as he bowed down. "You will reap the benefits of training along with those you train, young Raizoku. I'm sure you are wondering why I do not have one of my sons train them, or have their own fathers train them. The answer is simple; they each serve their own purpose in the scheme of things to come. As will you, Raizoku, Protector of Earth, Destroyer of Evil", the Great Guru said to him with more command and authority in his voice than Raizoku had ever heard from an old man. It was awe inspiring. His father would be proud. If only he would get out of his self-pity state of mind. He would see that his son was becoming a respected warrior on Earth. One day, everyone will see that a Saiyan - Human Hybrid was just as strong and worthy of being a Protector, as anyone. Yes, his father would definitely be proud of him. "Then it is done. You will start tomorrow. You must be here everyday for the next several weeks. Your job is not only to train, but to protect. Farewell for now Raizoku. And to you my son, look after the children as well", the Great Guru said to both Raizoku and his son. He clapped his hands once and the hovercraft slowly elevated and drifted off toward the main road. The Namekian warriors followed on foot, keeping up with no difficulty. "Congratulations, Rai. You have undoubtedly earned it," the Namekian warrior, son of the Great Guru Dende said. "Thank you, friend. You know, we have spent so much time together and I still don't know your name", Raizoku finally said. "Really? Well, I guess it's not fair that I know your name, but you don't know mine. Just call me, Junior", he told Raizoku. "Junior? That's it?", Raizoku asked in frustration. "That's it", Junior replied, smirking. "Okay, Junior. What now?", Raizoku asked. "What do you think, Rai?", Junior replied as he dashed inside the mansion. He stood on the platform Raizoku had come to know and love as the training platform. It was time to train now. He knew what he had to do. It was a big responsibility to train young fighters. He was up to the challenge. He had to be. It was a way to show that his training was working. It was also a chance to show his father that he would live up to, and even exceed his expectations as a Defender of Earth. He would not disappoint. Only time will tell...
