Chapter 1 The death of a king King Ymir, the ice giant as he was called, sat alone in his chamber. His massive form was posed gracefully upon a small pedestal, which his long toed feet clutched easily. There he reflected, shuffling through his seemingly endless and winding memory. He thought back on all the battles he had fought, all his glorious conquests and even some of his early shames. He remembered the glorious day he killed his brother, Tundra, the changeling who was destined to be King... “Your a fool if you think you can win Ymir! I have trained with Lucifer in Hell itself!” spat a slender changeling with grey skin and bronze colored plates. “Don’t be so sure of yourself Tundra, my power has also been increasing since your death.” stated Ymir coolly, a subtle smile forming on his pink face. “Prepare to die then brother, Father favors me to be King as it is. He will not miss a weakling like you!” shouted Tundra as a green aura erupted around his body, enveloping him in lapping flames of energy. The two Changelings faced off and began to transform. The slender little form of Tundra wretched and snapped into a ten foot tall monster with an elongated head bristling with spines and razor sharp teeth. He then flew about fifty feet into the air. Ymir laughed to himself, the fool was only at his second transformation. He himself had reached his third transformation months ago. He let loose a cry of pain as his body began to compact, bones shortening and muscles packing as densely as possible, his large black horns were reabsorbed leaving only the sockets they had sat in. When he had finished he was half his original size at five feet tall. His skin had become perfectly white and the deep red color of the crystalline domes on his head and shoulders had also manifested as a diamond shape on his abdomen. He still had his two signature fanged teeth however, favoring to keep this feature for its sheer intimidation. wc(346) |

Tundra was taken aback by the incredible alteration Ymir had made. This was impossible, it appeared that his weakling younger brother had actually surpassed him in power. His resolve did not waiver however as he new that it took more than a slightly higher power level to win a battle. It was experience that would win the day for him. Despite this he felt a little nervous, for his brother did not seem to have finished powering up! “Hmm, he doesn’t even seem intimidated, he must assume that he can still win. I guess it is time I showed him otherwise!” Ymir said under his breath. This was going to be quite enjoyable, seeing this agent of suffering in his life beg for mercy. He let his full power surge through him and with a loud explosion he flew towards his foe. The power of Tundra’s impact into the ground shook the planet to its very core, his body traveled a kilometer down into the rock itself. Ymir wasn’t satisfied however, and followed it up with an enormous volley of energy blasts directly into the hole Tundra’s body had left in the earth. Their was a light which bled from the hole in the ground, and a high pitched buzz filled the air. Suddenly the ground erupted with an explosion that moved the entire planet. The resulting mushroom cloud rose into the upper atmosphere itself. “Oops, guess I don’t know my own strength!” cackled Ymir, he truly had not meant to use so much power, but he shrugged it off. “just not used to this new form yet I suppose” But Tundra was not done fighting yet. The ground exploded a second time as a large grey/brown blur erupted from the earth, hurtling toward Ymir. “Not done yet, eh?” thought Ymir, “Well then, lets see if you can handle this!” Large orbs of purple light formed on each of his index fingers. “this is it,” he thought to himself, “time to show him my true power!” With that thought he let loose two needle thin beams of energy from his finger tips. The beams were so fast that they seemed to merely appear between his fingers and the ground, which was about one hundred feet down. wc(376) |

The first blast ripped through Tundra’s shoulder, the force with which it tore through him knocking him around backwards. Then the second beam struck, launching through him about where his neck met his torso. The strike killed him nearly instantly, but it was still not enough. As Tundra hit the ground, Ymir landed directly into his back, breaking his spine and punching his toes through to the ground beneath... “If only it were going that way now! Then I would already be home in my own quarters back on Frieza!” As he stood from his meditative pose a small fish-headed alien in Saiyan armor came running into the room. “Excuse me my lord King Ymir, I am sorry to interrupt you but the creatures are attacking again!” It had been happening for days, swarms of strange bug-like creatures had been attacking in massed waves since King Ymir had arrived. Individually they were no match for King Ymir, but even he had been getting tired fighting so much with no respite. Every wave had contained at least a thousand of the creatures, and most of his men had died within the first few waves. “All right Schmee, just have those auto-lasers ready to cover me.” sighed King Ymir, it was so pathetic. These little weakling creatures were actually starting to wear him down. He didn’t know how many more waves he could handle without time in the rejuvenation tank, and if the creatures attacked while he was incapacitated the entire operation and his life could be put at risk. The creatures were about the size of a cow, but with the features of a preying mantis. They all moved with a strange unison that was at once chaotic and also more organized than any army. They were about a mile off, coming over the large stone ridge that dipped down into a forest. Ymir guessed that the creatures lived in the forest, this gave him an idea. “Perhaps if I burn down the forests I can take out these things once and for all!” At that he pressed the button on the outer hatch door and took off at lighting speed to meet the wave of insects approaching. Ymir first shot off a barrage of energy blasts out in a line in front of the advancing creatures. The massive explosions halted the bugs, but only for a few moments. As the creatures began climbing down into the craters Ymir released a second barrage, each blast landing in the same crater as the blast that came before it. This deepened the craters and killed many hundreds of the bugs. The process had worked well every time before, but eventually he would get tired. And with the relentless pace of the insectoid aliens, he most likely would not get a chance to rest. He continued his barraging and was glad to see that almost all the creatures had been destroyed. wc(487) |

The next day a message was received from Planet Frieza saying that a contingent of mighty warriors headed by his aide, a warrior named Cold, would be there to aid in the battle within a day. This both bolstered and terrified King Ymir, for it may be that the warriors had merely detecting King Ymir in a weak state and wanted to wipe him out. He hoped that he would be strong enough when they arrived to show them who was king, and why! The morning came with even more heated attempts on the ship by the local creatures. Each one more ferocious than the last. By the end of the day King Ymir was sure he would have to rest before he could hold off the creatures again. He knew that the other changelings would arrive soon and hoped that they did before any more creatures attacked. He had his men take up their positions on the auto-lasers and then climbed into his personal rejuvenation chamber. As he lay suspended in the healing green fluid, he found himself dozing and then drifted off to sleep. As King Ymir slept, a single spacecraft entered the atmosphere. “L-lord Cold, we are entering the Grodese atmosphere! What are your orders?” squeaked a small blue alien with three eyes on his scaly forehead. “Locate King Ymir,” spat a dark voice with burning malice. The rear thrusters of the ship began to glow as the hulk lurched into motion. For once things were quiet around King Ymir’s ship. It was one of those rare moments, a lull in the fighting. Schmee sat back against the wall of the chute leading up to the auto-laser turrets. He thought about the family that King Ymir had destroyed all those years ago back on Bakuggan. The entire planet was gone now, annihilated by the monster he now served. Someday he would run away, go off and find a new home, a better one. A shrill noise woke him from his daydream. “The alarm! the creatures are attacking, and King Ymir is still in the rejuvenation tank! What am I going to do?” He shrieked as he climbed the ladder to the gunners. “Ah, so this is the local fauna, nasty little creatures aren’t they Lord Cold?” A grating buzzy voice asked. Lord Cold looked out from the dome window of his throne room aboard the warship. “Yes Nakume, these bugs are quite detestable. Let’s have a little fun with them,” said the wrinkled little creature. A hatch slid open on the underside of the ship, and four aliens flew out, led by the small form of Lord Cold. wc(441) |

King Ymir slept restlessly in his rejuvenation tank, he dreamed of his child, Blizzard. He saw massive potential in the infant. It’s body seemed to be in an advanced state compared to most Changelings. He dreamed of his son conquering many planets, taking on the royal name of Ymir and serving his time as King. He slept and imagined all these things, and a glimmer of the closest thing to love a wicked monster could experience passed over the Changeling King’s dreams. As Schmee reached the gunnery room, he was stunned by the sight outside the large blast windows. It appeared five figures were flying about, fighting off the aggressive beasts. The interlopers seemed to be each equally as powerful as King Ymir himself, dispatching with the creatures at leisure. “Those must be the warriors King Ymir was talking about, I better keep my eye on them.” grumbled Schmee. Lord Cold soared over the battlefield, firing his deadly finger beams left and right. He let out a boisterous and inglorious laughter all the while, as hundreds of dead creatures piled up all around King Ymir’s spacecraft. “This is all well and good, but no real challenge. I need to find King Ymir and show him who really deserves that crown!” thought Lord Cold to himself, a slight grin forming on his face. He turned and faced the large orange-skinned lizardman to his left, “Nakume! You finish dealing with these vermin, I will make an ‘audience’ with King Ymir!” He shouted to his faithful underling. At that he turned and began to swoop towards the ship below. “He is here! And me stuck in this damn pickle jar!” thought King Ymir to himself. He was in the most vulnerable position he could put himself in, and he knew it. “I have to get out of here!” There was a loud explosion from the bay of the ship. Schmee jumped to his feet. “Shit, what now?” he groaned. As he ran down the main corridor the smell of burnt plastic and rubber rushed to meet him. “We are under attack, all hands prepare for battle!” he shouted into his scanner. As Schmee rounded the corner into the the main bay, he saw that the hatch was blown off. wc(376) |

The trembling fish-faced creature that greeted Lord Cold as he burst into the ship was no match. Quickly Cold swept into the room and tore the squirming little alien in two. “I hope this isn’t the best they’ve got, or this may turn out to be to easy!” he thought to himself, grinning. The entire ship shook as Lord Cold shot down the circular hallway, scanning the rooms for sign of King Ymir. A burst of uncontrolled cackling rose from the medical room. Lord Cold stood gloating over the reposed form of King Ymir, floating helpless in his healing prison. “Oh this is too much, to think it would be this easy!, at last I will be the King of all Changelings. I will rule the entire universe!” He practically screamed with glee. A menacing red orb of light formed at the tip of his upward pointed index finger. “Now to finish you off, enjoy the next dimension my lord!” Suddenly the rejuvenation tank exploded, sending green fluid and shrapnel spraying in all directions. The powerful beam emitted by the stunned Lord Cold was slapped away, shooting through the ceiling, by a tall figure shrouded in mist. “You thought you could just walk into my own ship and kill me in my sleep! Coward! Prepare to feel the true power of your King,” Screamed King Ymir as he transformed, still enveloped in smoke from the destroyed machine. His large form compacted and re proportioned to a size of about five feet, with a slender build. “Ha! you think you’re the only one who knows that trick?” Shouted Cold as he began to make his own metamorphosis. His slight, wrinkled form began to stretch, growing in size and muscle mass. Soon the small spikes on his skull had formed into large jutting horns, sticking straight out from his head and curving in toward his face, like the horns of a bull. His neck extended sickeningly before swelling in size with thick chords of muscle. He stood at eight feet tall now, up from four only moments ago. “I could show you my other two forms, but I think this one will be enough!” The two warriors crashed together, causing a massive explosion which tore holes in both the ceiling and floor of the ship. They locked, hand to hand, staring each other down. “How could this be, he is only in his second form and he is matching me in both speed and strength,” King Ymir thought to himself. The slight distraction was all it took. A devastatingly powerful uppercut struck the King of Changelings hard in the jaw. The force sent him hurtling upward, crashing through the hull of the ship into the bright purple sunlight above. Lord Cold was ecstatic, he hadn’t expected the mighty King Ymir to be so weak. All the training he had done in 100g’s was paying off. He ignited in a dark purple aura of flame-like light, contemplating his next move. “Hmm, should I wait for him or go out there and finish this? Perhaps it would be wise to keep up the pressure. We wouldn’t want the old bastard getting a chance to catch his breath!” wc(535) |

King Ymir pulled himself out of the hole in the earth he had created on impact. That hit had hurt a lot more than he would have thought. Cold had discovered a new method of training, perhaps he was even more powerful than the King himself. “It doesn’t matter if he is more powerful than me, I have to keep going or I am dead anyway,” the King whispered to himself. It was time to utilize his final transformation, he had kept this fourth form a secret, knowing that it would be totally unexpected. A mighty scream echoed across the valley, the sky suddenly went black. As Lord Cold erupted from the spaceship, tearing it open like a wet sack, he witnessed King Ymir undergoing a terrible metamorphosis. His mouth and nose disappeared behind a mask of chitinous shell. Huge growths of the same material sprouted from each shoulder, and his skin turned dark purple. With the snap of bones cracking and a creaking of stretched ligaments the mighty Changeling King grew three feet, bringing him up to eight feet tall. “Witness my ultimate transformation! I am the first to make this metamorphosis for three hundred years!” The two warriors stared each other down, both hesitant to make a move. “How is this possible, I thought that we could only change three times,” Cold thought to himself. “Perhaps I should rush him, test his new power.” Lord Cold ignited in his fiery aura, and exploded towards King Ymir, who also made a headlong rush. As the two came together Cold went for a hard haymaker. King Ymir suddenly shifted his position in the air, going horizontal and avoiding the punch. suddenly he whipped his entire body around, bringing a powerful roundhouse kick directly into Lord Cold’s temple. The force of the impact created a sonic boom, rattling leaves loose from the tree’s below. However, it was not enough to knock Lord Cold out of the fight. He spun with the blow, whipping around and striking out with his elbow. The attack slammed into King Ymir’s stomach just as he began to descend, giving the blow a little extra force and nearly tearing through his midsection. wc(365) |

Ymir began to descend slowly, clutching his gut. Blood trickled in a small stream from the vent in his face mask. “Oh please try harder! I would like to have a little fun with you before you die,” spat Lord Cold, a look of disgust on his face. This garnered no response from King Ymir however, who continued to float limply, holding his stomach and wincing. Cold flew swiftly up to the hunched figure of King Ymir and raised his arm to deliver a powerful downward blow. Suddenly, King Ymir rose up, jabbing his right arm forward and splaying his fingers. An intensely bright ball of energy shot forth from his out-turned palm, soaring towards the stunned Lord Cold and striking him in the chest. As the ball of energy exploded on it’s target, it first shrank down slowly. Suddenly the three foot wide ball expanded to thirty feet across. The resultant force made a massive shallow crater in the earth below. Lord Cold tensed his muscles to keep his body from shredding to pieces in the blast. As the resultant smoke from the massive blast began to clear, King Ymir lost his calm composure. Lord Cold had survived, and hadn’t suffered too much damage. He had shrugged off the Changeling King’s ultimate attack. “very impressive my King, but you haven’t seen real power! Let me display my ultimate technique to you!” Lord Cold began to power up, his aura becoming a massive sunburst of fire. The sky turned black, and lightning ripped the sky. The wind began whipping so violently that it shook the leaves from the trees. The great purple ocean of Grod began to rage, great tsunami’s tore at the land. The ground Lord Cold stood upon began to compact, sinking him into a crater a hundred feet across. The stones of the earth were shifting, sending rock and debris flying out from the mighty warrior. A great green thundercloud was forming overhead, its central point directly over Lord Cold. “I was wrong to doubt the benefit’s of high gravity training. What good is my final transformation next to this power!?” King Ymir knew that he would die, Lord Cold would destroy the entire planet with him. He had wasted too much energy on his final attack to muster up the strength to counter the blast. “What’s wrong? Have you finally realized your situation? You are doomed my King, but do not worry, I shall ascend the throne” Suddenly, Lord Cold threw his hands up into the air, a small ball of light appeared in between them. He smiled a wide grin before screaming loudly. The ball of light suddenly grew monstrous, a quarter of the size the planet itself. Lightning was crackling down, entering the great ball of energy. With each strike the ball grew larger, more violent. “Now die!” Lord Cold threw his hands down, and the great ball of energy shot towards King Ymir. It was to great for him to escape, there was no way he would ever get out of the death ball’s range before it reached him. King Ymir began to power up to his very maximum, sending bright red arcs of energy shooting off of his body. He fired a beam directly at the center of the great ball, trying to cast it off into space. The energy ball halted for a moment, slowing down. King Ymir screamed and sent a current of ki down the beam, sending all he had left against the ball of doom heading for him. The great energy wave hung there in the sky, as if contemplating the imminent destruction of the planet it would cause. The King was pushing with all he had, but it simply was not enough, he couldn’t hold it back much longer. The beam of red energy he had fired began to thin, and the giant ball began to descend, picking up speed. As it ripped into the side of the planet, engulfing the once mighty king of all Changelings, a small infant began crying on planet Frieza. wc(679) total wc(3605) |
