Beware, the Peetzae
Location: Earth
Difficulty: Easy
Reward: +400 zeni, +2 DP, +10 all stats, +2 rp Credits

Description: Metro West has been terrorized by nighttime attacks by a monster known as "Peetzae". A bounty has been put on the head of this monster, to be awared to the first person who can show police that he's dead. However, ti won't be as easy as you think; the Peetzae is known to posses high speed, and even the ability to use Ki! Coupled with that, reports indicate it seems to have the ability to enter and exit any pitch-black shadow, as if they were portals, or doors.
Available: Always

Hyre clung to the flying car as he had a few months back, munching on a bun he'd taken to tithe him over. Watching the colorful land below, he noticed a few deer and butter fly- such beautiful creatures...That at any moment could be destroyed by the evil forces out there. He'd heard from travelers about creatures called Sayians who should up on different planets, on a mission to kill them off and take them over. Hyre trained for that scenario as often as possible, and what the Mayor of Metro West told him about was the perfect opportunity.

" There is a creature that strikes by night, using powerful blasts that we've been told is Ki. It travels at high speeds and vanishes through shadows as if they were pools of water. At all costs this creature, the Peetzae as we've come to call it, must be stopped. There's a bounty, and if you can kill it we'll pay you.' He had told Hyer over the phone. Of course, the young man couldn't deny this, for two reasons. He could use the challenge, and he also couldn't let Earth be terrorized by demonic creatures such as this.

The car lowered as it neared Metro West, barely slowing to let Hyre jump off. A window opened as Hyre somersaulted to his feet, the driver yelling, "NEXT TIME JUST ASK FOR A RIDE, KID!" Then blasting away. Hyre smirked, for he enjoyed clinging to landing gears. He couldn't fly yet, but he still liked to be in the air as often as possible. But, now that he was on the ground he would follow the rest of the roadway to Metro West.

"Alright, I've got some time before I meet the local Sheriff for more information... I guess I'll go check out the area." He said to himself, as he neared the end of his walk. Looking up at the buildings, Hyre chose one and ran at it, pressing his foot to the ground, then to the wall, then landed on top. From there, he would look out over the area, move to the next building and repeat the process.

Hyre landed on the fifth building, squatting down to get a better look at the roads below. On this one was the Sheriff's Department, Fire Department, and slightly up the road he made out a Hospital. Next to the Sheriff's Department he noticed a Soup Shop. Licking his lips, he slipped off the blue roof, landing on a balcony, then jumping the rest of the way to the side walk. "I think I'll go with chicken soup...Yeah- That's got some good protein in it...I'll need all the energy I can muster for tonight..." He said to himself, crossing the nearly deserted street.

'Come to think of it...' Hyre thought, entering the shop. 'The entire city has been inside, hiding...Could it be the Peetzae?' He shook it off, and walked up to the counter.
"Ma'm, may I order some chicken soup and a soda?" Hyre asked.
"We haven't had business sense that thing came..." Said a blue haired girl, with a white dress and red belt. She looked good for her age, but Hyre could tell she was in her Twenties. He was fifteen. But a fifteen year old was going to fight this Peetzae, which was faster and probably knew more Ki attacks then he did...*Gulp*
"Erm, I'll have it for you in a moment. That'll be one Zeni." She said.
"Only one?...O...kay..." Hyre said, paying.

A few minutes passed, an officer walked in for his coffee, but that was the only real update. After eight minutes the girl brought in the Soup and Pepsi, then brought the Cop his coffee.
"You Hyre?" The Sheriff asked.
"Yes Sir." Hyre responded through a mouthful of soup. The Sheriff seemed to be saddened.
"Son...Your going to kill the Peetzae. Please act your age, or I'll loose all hope in you."
"Um..." Hyer started, swallowing the soup, "What's your name, Officer?"

"I am..." The officer started, standing up and pointing his thumb at himself. "Officer Bill, Sheriff of Metro West!"
"You sound proud of yourself." Hyre said, folding his his hands. "But, you can't handle one of the biggest problems you've ever dealt with, so you call in a fifteen year old?"
Bill shrank down when Hyer finished, then sat down and sipped his coffee. Hyre finished up his soup, ignoring the long silence. Slowly he tipped the broth from the bowl into his mouth, using a napkin to clean his chin.

"The way I see it, you can handle anything that's human and it's best weapon is a gun. But you need androids, aliens, or people like me when it comes to abnormal stuff, y'know?" Hyre said, as if explaining how to make a sandwich.
"Yeah, I get it. I...I'm sorry I acted so big just now, Kid, but please know we all need your help...It's urgent and-"
The cop didn't finish, for a large shadowy figure had appeared on the other side of the street. Bill and the Waiter said it in one word.

"PEETZAE!"

Hyre jumped up in front of Officer Bill, just in time to defend against the first blast against the window. The explosion alone sent Hyre through a wall, while Bill took less of the damage, only getting blown into the counter. The waitress screamed, another blast slamming the outer wall of the Soup Kitchen. Hyre, prying his head from the wall, gathered his wits in time to see Bill waist his bullets firing at the Peetzae...Which had vanished closer and closer at each gun fire.
"STOP, BILL! IT'S FUTILE! Just take the waitress and get to the back room. Turn on the lights as high as they go!" Hyre yelled, pushing himself from the wall and landing on one knee. The Peetzae stepped into the building as Bill and the Waitress vanished behind a door. Hyre heard lights click on, and smirked. "Now it's just you and me." Hyre said, wiping sweaty dust from his fore head.

Peetzae blurred, appearing in front of Hyre and smashing it's huge shadowy fist into his gut. Hyre stumbled backwards, blood dripping from his mouth. "Your good..." He muttered, opening his right hand. A blue and black swirling orb appeared, floating in his hand, waiting...Waiting...The Peetzae appeared again in the shadow cast by the over head fan, flying down toward Hyre, who chucked the ball of Ki power at Peetzae's face.

"Grawrl..." Peetzae was knocked off course, smashing into the ground...into the shadows. Hyre, knowing it would hit close to him, made a dive for the lit up counter top...Unsuccessfully. The massive hand grabbed his leg, dragging him into the shadows...

It felt like a swimming pool, except he could breath. Darkness was all there was in this strange realm...No floor, no gravity...For the first time Hyre knew what it was like to have the ability of flight. However, this fascination was interrupted by two massive blasts from no where. Then a knee, then elbow...By the time the onslaught was done, Hyre was covered in bruises and blood.

"Foolish mortal, you expected to defeat me?...hmph. Now you will die..." Came a ruined, altered, demented voice. Hyer saw a flash of light, then all went black...More black then before.

Hyre lost it, his instinctive mind taking over. He felt his hands shoot up and catch the massive blast, felt it forcing him back into nothingness.
Two orbs of his own grew in both of his hands, black and swirling...He launched his two blasts, which pushed the larger one back toward the thing that had shot it.
KABOOM!!!
The shadows lit up, giving Hyre the glimpse he needed of the Peetzae. Leaning forward, he felt his body move toward the Peetzae...Closer...
"GAH!"
Hyre, calming down, felt the massive fist in his gut lurch upward, then was launched into the air, slamming into the ceiling of the Soup Kitchen. Peetzae landed on the ground, staring at Hyre.
"Man...This is bad...If I'm right it's only at half power right now..." Hyre grunted to himself. He tore his right arm from the wall, charging a ball of energy in it.
"Heh...If I'm right, your planning to kill those two back there. But I'm stopping you here and now. As it turns out, I can see that from where my last few attacks have hit you in the chest and stomach...This should lower your speed quite a bit." Hyre said, chucking it with as much strength as possible. However...

Peetzae caught the blast with one hand, then glowed with energy.
"Foolish Mortal! Prepare to die!" Peetzae growled. This was probably one of few phrases it knew...But Hyre grinned, blood dripping from his chin and mouth.
"Mortal, why you grin?" It asked. Hyre was holding something in his hand.

"When I defended Bill on your first strike, I flew way past him. I figured there wouldn't be much use for it...So I borrowed Bill's gun. Heh...You should be happy, your my first super natural kill, Peetzae." Hyer said, pointing the gun at the confused Peetzae. The ball of Kai was still in it's hand...

Pew!
The bullet landed in Peetzae's head, doing almost nothing. But that was the distraction, for by the time Peetzae had stopped laughing Hyre had managed to pry himself from the ceiling and get close up to the blast. Pressing his hand to it, he lit it up by forcing more power into it, then pushing it into Peetzae's chest.
"GRRAAAAAAAH!"

"Few..." Hyre wiped the blood from his forehead, mouth, and nose. "I figure if it didn't strike by day, the light involved it's demise...Anything brighter then a street light would weaken it...So by lighting up that kai blast to my full power and launching it through Peetzae's chest...I could take care of it." Hyre said to no one in particular....Then fell to his knees, then hands, then was completely sprawled on the floor, exhausted.

It was about a day before Hyre awoke in the Sheriff's office, cleaned up with his black jacket hanging up nearby. He sat up, removing the sheets. Of course, he was in his red tank top and black pants. No one would change his clothes, thankfully. However they were cleaned.
Standing up, he grabbed his jacket and placed it on, opened the unlocked jail cell(Why they had put him here over the hospital was odd) and walked casually to the exit of the building. Bill glanced at him, then stood.
"Nice work kid. If we ever have another problem we'll let ya know." He said. Hyre handed Bill a number. 13.
"That's the number I enter tournaments with...If you ever want to see me in a clean fight...Just watch the World Tournaments often. Thanks for the job, Bill, I already feel a bit stronger." He said, grinning. Bill raised an eyebrow.
"Shouldn't you be tired?" he asked.
"Nah. I slept for a day or so, so I'm good." Hyre said, then pushed open the door and walked over to the soup shop. Looking the window up and down, he realized someone had fixed it in the last day or so.

"That's a burden off my back...And a new friend. I guess next I'll be heading for Master Roshi...Then Kami...Then Namek. Whatever I face in between will only prepare me for my future! One day, things like Peetzae won't be so threatening...But first, I need to train with every master I can find." Hyre promised to himself. And so his trail was set. Next stop: Master Roshi's Island!
