Pendulum Room

Location: Earth
Difficulty: Easy (5 post minimum)
Reward: +400 zeni, +2 DP, +20 all stats, +2 Rp Credit
Available: Always

The Pendulum located in the back of Kami's lookout will put you into a meditative state. In this state, your mind will be transported to a completely different place and time. Here, a massive war has been going on for years. In your mind, you will have to fight in this war. If you are hurt or killed, your physical body remains unharmed.

Note: Although the quest was approved for Raizoku and Krillin together, I'll be doing this quest alone.

Kami has just alerted Mr. Popo of the new trial made for whatever warrior might end up in the lookout for training, and the latest fighter was already decided - the only current problem being bringing him there. "Mr. Popo, please descend to Earth and get the earthling over here for the trial. He seems to be strong enough for this task, and him trying this as the first one would be a good way to see if the Pendulum Room is an overpowered way to train." Without any question at all, the black creature replied to his friend with the words 'Yes Kami' and used his flying carpet to descend down exactly to the spot where the chosen human was located at.

Meanwhile on Earth, the chosen human - Krillin was sleeping calmly in her bed in his house located at Central City, the city who's king is a beloved dog, yet a highly intellectual-leveled dog capable of managing the city just fine. The house was bought not so long ago and the apartment was somehow still messy from Krillin's organizations in the house but it didn't stop being a comfy place that's easy to sleep in and resident in, proving to be a useful place after all. The hour was very late while at it as well, nearly 4:00 AM, and the short human was in a deep sleep, dreaming of the day he'll get married - though in a very odd way. You could count it as a vision of the future, in a way.

When arriving by the person's apartment window, Mr. Popo stood still on his flying carpet as he was looking into the human's house through the glass window, nobody really knowing if he was thinking anything under that large turban on his head. No one was outside, not even a dog or a cat wandering the streets like usual. They were simply empty, the streets that is, from any signal of life coming from anywhere in the outside of the city. Weird in a way, but also very peaceful and relaxing. The creature kept on standing on his carpet for as long as he waited for the human to wake up, which ironically didn't take too long until the bald human was interrupted in his sleep for some reason. Looks like he could feel the presence of whatever Mr. Popo was at his window, which means close by.

Waking up very slowly without opening his eyes, Krillin's sleep was interrupted by the presence of the stalking Mr. Popo standing at his window with a flying carpet. Some people would say that in fairy tales, this kind of deed done by an eastern man to the girl he loves would be really romantic, though in this situation this could be kind of disturbing. "Hnn... Nmnm..." Saying nothing, waking up at his own pace, Krillin didn't even bother checking what time it is and just started walking around on his house at the 6th floor of the building looking for a light switch to start his day, though it didn't even start technically. That was when he saw the creature hovering over his window, with his eyes opened by now that is.

The two organisms (supposedly, nobody knows what Mr. Popo is after all and he might actually be dead) stared at each other for a full minute. It was a minute of silence, when nothing happens and the only thing that passes is the illusion of time, when the two only look into each other's eyes without any meaning - but just to look, only in Krillin's case there was an action to follow. As soon as he understood what was standing in-front of his window (in his mind it was a burglar, or a killer), he let out a powerful shout as before, his eyes widened and his body's temperature dropped down to something like 5. "Waaaah!!!" He shouted as he looked at the mysterious creature, which didn't budge at all nor did he mean to scare the young fellow. He knew the human screamed although the lights were out and he couldn't hear anything from the other side of the glass, mainly because Mr. Popo is an expert when it comes to sensing life.

Krillin had a hard time seeing Mr. Popo as well because of his dark, dark skin blending in with the black sky's color. If it weren't for the turban and the clothes, the human wouldn't have even noticed he was there for as long as he stayed there, he didn't even move. The short warrior fell on his bottom, crawling backwards while still sitting, shivering in fear. It was just his luck that nobody in the building awakened from the shout he let out just a moment ago. "Greetings Krillin. I am Mr. Popo, remember? Kami has summoned me to bring you to his temple for urgent business you need to take care of." Krillin could tell he was talking, but couldn't hear even a single word his mate said. He saw the mouth opening and closing in shapes of what appears to be a language though he couldn't understand.

Seeing as the creature in-front of the window wants to talk and probably wouldn't cause too much harm, the human opened the window and requested to repeat that message just now. "Come again? Sorry, I'm still a little sleepy..." What a wake up, and he's still asleep in his standing. Mr. Popo repeated his message in the exact same tone he used earlier and using the exact same words while at it too. Understanding the situation - as for if it wasn't Kami the one calling him it couldn't have been important enough to drag Mr. Popo all the way there - the earthling nodded as he exited the window with his pajamas still on. He knew where they were heading, but not why. It was time to ask, so it appears.

"So, Mr. Popo... Why are you leading me to Kami's Lookout?" The human asked while hopping on the flying carpet, which while he was still asking the question already reached the lookout - in no time at all. It's pretty useful, having a way of traveling that gets you wherever you want in a single second or even less than that, too bad no one really thinks of inventing a carpet that could do that in the modern human world. The black creature jumped down the large piece of cloth with Krillin following him. He then began to explain. "Simple. Kami has been looking for someone to try out his new training method, and he thinks you're the most worthy of doing in your body's state. Will you do it then? Kami requested, after all."

It was more ordered and kidnapped than requested, anyway, but Krillin agreed without thinking too much about it.

Without much question though still suspecting that something odd is going on and it shouldn't really go that way, Krillin followed Mr. Popo through Kami's lookout into the basement where the Pendulum Room was located, also where the trial needs to take place as actually a test run. When he reached the room the creature told the human to enter and as the earthling entered, he saw nothing but a red circle with many marks on it and a large pendulum that's been going forth and backwards as if it was activating something unknown. "This is where your training session will take place. Please stand on the red circle." Without further question Krillin made his way onto the red circle which was formed of many shapes that still allowed to see the dark-blue colored ground in a way. "... So... What happens now?" He asked as he stood there and waited. The black creature told Krillin to close his eyes. "When you will open your eyes, you will be someplace else. Please be careful."

The short fighter closed his eyes still being a little stressed from what happened only a few minutes ago, presumably not even 5 has passed since the two encountered each other at the building in Central City. He closed his eyes and thought of what might happen to him, and if this black creature is planning to assault him while he's not looking and thus prepared his Ki to be used, currently not really knowing anything but transferring technique and flight. The red circle shined as the Pendulum crossed above it back and forth, with each cross above Krillin's head making a blue spark of lightning that keeps on getting stronger. Eventually, the warrior shined while standing on the red circle as the Pendulum's spark now got connected with the one on the ground already being highly powerful and the human being held inside. In a blink of an eye, the spark stopped as the Pendulum crossed again - and Krillin simply vanished in a flashy show.

Krillin woke up after almost falling asleep while standing due to being awakened from his sleep only moments ago at a whole new area for him which reminded the look of a battlefield, but the thing was that the zone looked like the ruins of a battlefield much more one in process of war. Looking around himself, the human warrior could tell that a slightly large battle occurred here and it was no joke or a mistake but an enormous war between two countries or just a different type of incredibly powerful and large organization of many people together, for the number of skeletons on the ground. "... Wow... What exactly happened here anyway?" Krillin asked himself. It didn't look like anyone was going to reply to him. Another notable detail about the place was the fragments of glass all over the place, the ruined buildings and the trashed metal that resembles war machines that could have assisted the participants of the war in demolishing the other side's army, or rather fighting organization. While wondering about the place and looking at the numerous amount of clothed skeletons on the ground, stinking of blood, the short fighter kept on analyzing this new place not knowing that he was being watched and followed.

As he was scouting the new zone he just arrived at, Krillin couldn't feel a small amount of Ki that happened to follow him for some reason. He couldn't foresee this for the area looks completely deserted and simply dead and also because of his current tired state. Nobody wakes up out of nothing so quickly unless they're immortal or simply don't exist. As he was walking among the skeletons and junk armory scattered all over the ground which was shaped with small craters in the ground, the human fighter thought to himself what happened here in every phase of the destruction, for it might be an interesting story to write about and get some money if he succeeds to understand completely what happened here in every stage. Of course, he couldn't, there was just too much to analyze and too much for the brain to remember from an ordinary visit at the site just like this - no way he's going to follow the ruins until he understand fully what exactly happened everywhere. In fact, if writing a story, there has to be someone which the story is about.

"Gosh, look at this place. It's like some kind of someone's worst nightmare happened here! What could cause such a scene, I have to know, it could be great if I could control a power like that! Hehe..." He told himself, feeling proud for some reason of what he's wishing for. Krillin came across what appeared to be a large crystal with not even a single scratch on it, noting something weird. Such a huge battlefield with so many ruins and destruction hovering above the area and a single crystal like this one, as large as it is, without even the smallest harm on it but for the inscribed words that appear to be Latin, but mean nothing in the language. Trying to read the letters and decode what it means, the human warrior was suddenly interrupt by a large Ki Blast that was aimed towards the ground. It blasted Krillin away powerfully, creating a small crater in the ground and causing a big explosion followed by a smokescreen due to the dust. He had no idea what hit him that moment, but he knew now that something bad was about to happen, since he couldn't sense the Ki level when it arrived.

When opening his eyes through the powerful wind blowing the sand almost everywhere away from that spot the blast hit, Krillin noticed a figure at the shape of a human (having 2 arms, 2 legs and a head) flying above, in the smoke cloud created by the blast. The figure slowly landed on the ground as the wind stopped, the smokescreen staying active which made it harder for Krillin to see what was lurking there. He stood up and got into a fighting stance, as now he was ready to fight. This blast pulled exactly the trick to awaken the human fully, but before the human fighter managed to do anything or even speak the figure ran towards Krillin in great speed and before he knew anything, he found the figure's knee in his stomach, pushing him powerfully to the air. When taking a small glance at the color and shape of the knee that lifted him so high up in the air all of the sudden with an exploding pain in his stomach, Krillin could tell that what he's fighting currently might be a human for the skin and shape of the body. To add up, while the short warrior was sent to the air, the figure came out of the smoke completely, revealing out it's human form.

While flying backwards because of the force of the hit he just took to the stomach by his newly found opponent in this unknown area, Krillin looked at his fast match which looked human except for the armor he wore which looked really weird and that furry belt he had around his waist. Now that you think of it, it doesn't seem like you even need a belt with this kind of armor, but oh well. Little did the human fighter knew, he was matching against a Saiyan - and a powerful one while at it, that is for the average power level of Saiyans. As soon as the opposing 'human' got close enough, Krillin stopped himself from being sent flying further away by forcing his Ki to the opposite direction. This caused him to suddenly break from the flying speed, something the opponent Saiyan couldn't keep up with. While he still had the chance, Krillin fired out a breath of fire, sent at the human-like creature and resulting in a boom, for some reason. The man used this opportunity to run away and as soon as the explosion was heard he started flying as fast as he could towards the ground - into the ruins and away from the Saiyan as far as he could get, but it didn't get him that far at all, as out of the smokescreen from the earlier blast the Saiyan emerged with almost no harm at all.

The opposing opponent flew faster than the bald human, putting him in a disadvantage of both not knowing his surroundings so well and being outmatched when it comes to both speed and strength. If he can't harm this alien sooner or later he's going to end up beaten up really hard. "Damn! This better work..." In the small time Krillin had to run away, he kicked some of the ruins with some of his force, enforcing his Ki into them in a way that would come in handy when the Saiyan comes across the pile that doesn't really seem as if it was organized in a special way. And so has been made: as soon as the unknown fighter came across the pile, the human warrior (while flying backwards) shouted out the key word for the activation. "Detonate!!" He yelled out, as soon the pile entirely exploded. The point in this plan was to catch the Saiyan off guard and put him in the explosion, hopefully shattering him a bit or at least tiring him.

But it didn't help. Out of the smokescreen - as fast as sound the unknown person emerged and marched into Krillin's face with his palm, catching it. He chuckled as he smashed the human's head on the ground, keeping him in touch with the ground through the walls, skeletons, armors and everything that was on the ground for as long as he kept flying. He finished off by throwing Krillin away, the human hopelessly being sent directly to a large building which was somehow still standing. Him tackling it with his body did the trick of smashing it down. The current state was Krillin buried down under the piles of stones and metal, but that wasn't enough for the Saiyan. He knew, even without the capability of sensing, that this new prey is still alive under those ruins. The man was in grave danger, already about to lose badly and leave this entire thing seriously injured if not dead. He could barely move under this large pile but not for the weight but for the pain he took from that smash to the face and that dragging on the ground followed by the powerful throw. The Saiyan was prepared to deliver a finishing blow as Krillin tried to make his way through the rust without moving anything too much.

As the alien was charging up a finishing blast (a large Ki blast) towards the pile of dust, rust and boulders the human fighter tried to escape with the strength he had left. It's not like the Saiyan wore him out so quickly with those attacks, more like he managed to land some serious damage on him. That would probably be the reason why Krillin couldn't move properly through the blocks. It was time to end this for the alien, at least, and he was well prepared. That was when Krillin managed to sense his Ki correctly and figure out that what he's facing is way beyond his level and it doesn't seem to look like he's going to make it by fighting this guy or by running - he'll have to think of a better plan of surviving this battle or he could die. The alien launched off his Ki Blast while letting out a shout. Using a source of strength the human warrior didn't know he had inside of him, he ran directly through what was blocking him and managed to escape being shattered down from that blast. The Saiyan looked at the human fighter as he overcame that obstacle and flew again, faster than Krillin could in his maximum speed, towards the human. Just then, the bald fighter surprised even himself.

Instinctively or by purpose - the man had no idea if it was either of those but he managed to knock the Saiyan off his course by using his Fire Breath directly to his face. The alien's eyes were damaged and he couldn't see well where he was heading - meaning the explosion earlier wasn't a weird result but the conclusion of the unknown fighter reacting to the breath of fire with some kind of attack of his own, presumably the same blast he wanted to finish this fight off with. The human warrior yelled as he jumped up and kicked the Saiyan in the chin, not landing too much damage but moving away as fast as he could the moment he came in contact. He then returned there to kick the alien fighter's forehead but missed: his opponent opened his eyes and foresaw the kick, thus avoiding any harm by moving out of the way (stepping aside would be a better description, though because he was flying you couldn't quite tell). He then caught the human's leg and smashed his body on the piles again, this time using his knee as a support to destroy his spine while leaning on it. Krillin shouted in pain as the Saiyan began to jump back and forth on the human's body, breaking his weak body (compared) little by little.

Desperate to survive somehow, Krillin shouted the key word and the alien's face exploded, making him bleed. It was right of him to hit him in the chin, for an explosion at that area could cause damage mainly to the chin but also not such a minor damage to the face... And to the neck. That was the unknown fighter's weakspot, only too bad the bald fighter ran out of energy and couldn't strike him again. Angry at his exploded face, the Saiyan charged a beam while looking angrily at Krillin's back. He shot it and made contact, a direct hit to Krillin's back thus breaking him apart.

The short warrior woke up fainted on the ground of the Pendulum Room, slowly opening his eyes to see the pendulum going back and forth again and again. "I see... So you didn't make it." A familiar voice, one he heard only a couple of minutes ago spoke to his ears knowing that he's awake now. The voice belonged to Mr. Popo which apparently stayed in the room to see when will Krillin come back from his test run which after all ended in a failure. "Woah... I could have sworn that I died... No, I'm sure I died. That guy with the armor finished me off, why am I still here?" Desperate thoughts flowed through the human's mind as he was finished by the Saiyan in that unknown area. He was completely sure he died and before that was sure as well that he is going to die (an event which did occur), but he was still alive. Proof to that was the Pendulum Room and Mr. Popo. A voice belonging to someone the man yet knew interrupted that small wake up. "It was too much after all... But it seems to have worked." Looking at the entrance, Krillin saw a guy dressed in a strange manner of clothing, but the more noticeable part about this guy was the fact that he was green. A black human, an unknown extreme fighter and a green old guy - this day is getting harder every second to acknowledge as reality.

"The training program was meant to see if you can defeat someone way out of your league, and looks like the result was to be expected after all... But you did earn some training by forcing yourself over your limits and taking hits. This could come in handy, although not for the level you are at right now." It almost sounded like the green guy tried insulting Krillin or just to make fun of him. Not knowing if to thank him or say a sarcastic comment about that - the human fighter was still shocked at the fact he was somehow still alive. Not asking too many questions, he stood up after a small moment of regaining his balance and walked towards the door. "I'm going home back to sleep..." He told the green old guy and to Mr. Popo. Agreeing by Kami's permission to escort the human fighter, the whatever-he-is black creature thing took Krillin back to his house using the carpet he used as a ride earlier. Being unable to understand fully what happened, Krillin headed directly to his bed and fell asleep for until three days later. It was a long rest.

"I'm sorry my friend... But you did succeed in your way. Kami is grateful. Sleep tight for now."
