Once again, Blizzard was training on Roshi's Island. Master Roshi was having him practice by sending energy beams across the ocean to create two perfect walls of water in their wakes. He braced himself and fired off a volley of blasts, each one skimming the water just inches above the surface. Just a few inches behind each ball of energy the water was ripped into vertical sheets just inches thick and over twenty feet high. Master Roshi watched from his hammock, as much as he disliked this alien pupil of his, it was hard to discredit Blizzard's quick progression through the training regimen. Soon, Master Roshi knew that there would be no more he could teach the upstart warrior. His train of thoughts was broken suddenly as a small hovercraft came racing across the ocean. The craft swerved hard as it narrowly avoided the powerful barrage of energy blasts that were streaking out across the water. "Hey, you trying to kill us? watch where you point those things," yelled a voice from the vessel. it approached the shore and, with a whine of the engines, pulled itself up onto the beach. Blizzard crossed his arms, floating a few inches off the ground. He didn't like being told what to do by weaklings, but he restrained himself from killing the fool in order to see why these people were here. A man in a black suit and with several armed thugs following him jumped out of the hovercraft and began to make his way towards Blizzard. With a bow he adressed the changeling. "Mighty Blizzard, word has reached the ears of my benefactors of your particular skills as a fighter. I represent the Shadowclaw Clan, a dojo of warriors who prize victory and power over all things. Every ten years, we host a competition, a blood sport, that decides the strongest fighter on earth. There is a grand prize of course, and the chance to prove your might by killing everyone who stands in your way." He raised his hands, still bowing, and presented a scroll sealed with black wax. "Please accept this humble invitation." wc(354) |

As the hovercraft forged its way back across the waves, Nantuko was breathing a heavy sigh of relief. He knew that Blizzard was famed for killing at the slightest whim, and he also knew that it was luck that had allowed him to leave alive. Master Roshi approached Blizzard. "I have heard of this Shadowclaw Dojo, some very powerful fighters. Although, I doubt they would prove so powerful against you. I think you should enter, but watch yourself. The Shadowclaw are known to use any means necessary to win." Blizzard glared back at the old man. "I have little need of your concern for my well-being. But I do agree that it sounds like a fun little game. I would enjoy spilling some blood instead of watching you laze about all day." With that he took too the air, opening the invitation. deep in the southern desert, near the Great Oasis, you will find the Shadowclaw Dojo. Show this invitation to the door guards and you will be let in, after being tested of your worth of course. Thank you for participating in this historic event, and may the blood be your opponent's!" The sun was shining down brightly on mr. Shima's face. He was having one hell of a day of fishing, having already caught almost more tuna than he could fit in the boat. Suddenly, his rod bent almost in half. Something huge was on the line, a tuna at least two hundred pounds or more in weight. He was so excited that he knocked his pliers overboard, the cork handles only managing to slow the descent. With rod in hand, the fisherman bent over the side of the boat. trying to reach his pliers before they sunk for good. Blizzard rushed over the waves. He knew that the Southern Desert was far, but he had expected to see land by now. Blizzard knew he would have to go faster if he was going to make it to the dojo in time to enter in the competition. With a burst of green Ki, Blizzard accelerated drastically. He was moving so fast now he only barely saw the small schooner on the waves as he passed over. "Oops," he chuckled sarcastically. As mr. Shima fished around in the water, his fingers finally got a pinch on the cork handle. "Wow, close call!" As he exclaimed aloud, a powerful wake pitched the boat wildly. As mr. Shima was about to hit the water he heard a mighty boom and caught a glimpse of the streak of green fire cutting across the sky. wc(433) |

Boris sat at the large wooden spool that the guards used as a table. Him and several other guards were deep in the throes of a poker game. Currently, Boris was all in on a bluff. As Grov laid down his cards, Boris felt his face turn red. "Damn this game, and damn you, you cheater!" Boris was too mad for reason at this point. He threw the small table over in his rage, standing up and bracing for a fight. Meanwhile, Blizzard was screaming across the great southern desert. He was loving his new powered up flying ability. He was also meditating on the fighting to come. He wondered just how strong these warriors would be. Blizzard had fought several opponents on earth, and none but a saiyan had even been worth getting his hands dirty... well, aside from the cash. A dark-skinned warrior with a yellow turban was fighting off four masked opponents. He spun and threw a kick that broke the necks of two of the fighters. From behind, another of the warriors attacked him with a large scimitar. The turbaned fighter spun and smacked the blade aside while simultaneously jamming his index and middle fingers on his other hand into the attacker's neck. The outstretched fingers punched straight through the masked warriors flesh, killing him isntantly. The last of the fighters made a mock charge, then ran for a thin stream of light filtering into the large tent through it's door flap. His outstretched hand stopped just short of the oiled leather as a fist drove through his stomach from behind. A cloaked man sitting on a high platform in the twenty foot tall tent began to clap. "Excellent work Toldan. You are going to do well in the tournament. especially with our 'special' training!" The dark-robed figure said, laughing wickedly. wc(305) |

Blizzard stopped in mid-air. The hot sun had scorched away all the clouds, but the oasis had it's own shell of mist covering it. He looked for a sign of the dojo, circling the two mile wide mist cloud and peering through it where possible. In some places the sun cut through and made it possible to see the water and trees below, but after circling the whole way around Blizzard deemed that it must be inside the fog in a place he had not been able to see. The stage was set for a little brawl amongst the door guards of the Shadowclaw Dojo. Boris began to swing wildly with large sweeping haymakers, knocking the other guards off their feet with sheer force. The fight escalated, moving away from the dojo and into the courtyard. Like some ameoba of violence it pulled in the other guards patrolling the place, soon weapons were drawn and blood was mixing with the sand. Boris grabbed his great hammer and jumped into the air. With a literally earth shattering crack, he slammed the giant weapon into the ground. The shockwave knocked all the fighters too the ground. Boris yelled aloud, "break it up, you dogs! I don't have time to hire more of you or I would gladly continue bashing your skulls in, so if you value your lives I suggest you get back to work!" That was Boris's managing style, reinforcing his own dominance through displays of power. It worked for the most part, and when it didn't... well, guards could always be replaced. Blizzard descended into the courtyard of the structure, making a minor dust storm as he touched down quickly. He held up the opened invitation, speaking to the group. "I, Lord Blizzard, have received invitation to partake in this tournament. I demand entrance!" Boris rose from his seat, bellowing with annoyance. "You!? You're tiny! Hahaha alright you little wrinkled freak, if you can beat me in a fight then I will let you in." Blizzard muttered under his breath, his eyes beginning to glow with rage. "With pleasure..." wc(349) |

Blizzard adopted a common fighting pose, keeping his legs and arms forward from his body and bent at the knees and elbows. He eyed the tall warrior, dressed in nothing but a pair of spandex shorts. The gleam from Boris's massive hammer reminded Blizzard that he needed to end the fight quickly, just in case the human was actually strong enough to hurt him. With a movement nearly to fast to be seen, Blizzard pointed his index finger at the giant man and fired a blast of purple energy. Surprisingly, Boris was fast enough to dodge the move. He spun around the energy blast and returned one of his own, a blue ball of light trailed by a thin stream of ki. "At last, some worthy opponents," Blizzard thought to himself, exposing his elongated canine teeth with a grin. He jumped over the blast at the last second, allowing it to explode against the stone wall behind him. While the smoke obscured him, Blizzard rushed forward at high speed. However, as he cleared the smoke, Boris was waiting for him. The hammer smashed just inches from Blizzard as he rolled out of the way, sending a cloud of sand flying into the air. Blizzard landed on his hands and spun, sweeping Boris off his feet with a muscular tail. Coiling like a spring, Blizzard vaulted off the ground with his hands and used a burst of ki to propel his foot downwards in to Boris's back. The impact pushed the human into the sand while Blizzard did a back flip to his fighting stance, ready for anything. The sand exploded as Boris shot into the air. He made a wide arc while spiraling up high above the complex. Stopping about three hundred feet above, he threw a curveball of blue energy back to earth. Blizzard couldn't see through the sand cloud and was caught in the explosion of ki. Boris clomped onto the ground, standing tall amidst the twisting remnants of the dust cloud created by the explosion. "Well boys, looks like that's one less competitor in the tornament eh!?" Boris turned from the small crater in the earth, looking across the courtyard to his guard post. He needed a drink, and a game of poker sounded good. Suddenly his jaw dropped. Standing halfway between him and his post the alien was dusting himself off. "I wouldn't be so sure of that!" Blizzard said, a tone of arrogance adding a cutting edge to his words. wc(415) |

Blizzard suddenly disappeared in a blur. He appeared again a split second later with his fist stuck so deep into Boris's back that it nearly folded his shoulders to his waist. Blood trickled in a dark red stream down Boris's face, emanating from his nose and mouth and dripping off his chin into the sand. The hammer, whose head already touched the ground, dropped from the mighty fighter's now weak fingers. "Fool, I was only playing with you." Blizzard whispered in his ear matter-of-factly. With a nonchalant kick, he sent the man flying. The tyrant now lay in a heap against the far wall of the courtyard. "So... Any more tests for me?" A menacing glance met the other guards, who were now startled from the shock of seeing their mighty taskmaster beaten so simply. Their was a bustle as the guards rushed to open the entrance to the Shadowclaw Dojo. Blizzard enjoyed this, it had been some time since he had been given royal treatment. He finally realized why Master Ice had been so tough on him too begin with. To reclaim his right to the throne would take force now. "Yes weaklings, serve me!" He was getting almost giddy now. Raising off the ground, the changeling floated a few feet off the ground across the courtyard and into the emberlit darkness of the Shadowclaw Dojo. Toldan sensed that Boris was dying. He had never liked the old fool, but the vile power level that had crushed him was so wicked feeling that even he, the champion of the Shadowclaw, was made slightly uneasy by it. The dark-skinned fighter rose from his meditation mat, crossing the incense choked chamber to a small cupboard near the doorway. On top of the chamber were his hand wraps, artifacts from the dojo's beginning. They had been soaked in the blood of a thousand innocent lives, and had large brass knobs laid into the fist, cushioned on the back. These nobs were actually made of a soft clay, inside were hypodermic spines that could deliver small doses of poison. Toldan opened the cupboard, reaching for a red glass jar filled with a black, viscious fluid. wc(362) |

"Psst, Voor, what the hell is that ugly thing?" Figo hissed into the ear of the man sitting next to him. "Sh," he whispered urgently, "that is a Changeling you fool." A look of terror washed over Figo's face. "Oh shit, do you think it heard me?" "If it had, you would probably know by now. I haven't heard of many who insulted a Changeling and lived." Voor said, still maintaining a whisper. He was concerned, a monster like that shouldn't have been there. He only hoped that Toldan would be able to handle the beast. Blizzard was escorted too a small room. Acommodations far better than those he had at the old hermit Roshi's. The serving girl turned before leaving, "there is always food in the banquet hall, should you be hungry my lord. Also, you may use the training facility located down the hall. The master has asked that all competitors be at the banquet hall tomorrow morning, that the tournament may begin." She spoke solemnly, her humble monotone betraying a broken soul, it was as if the years of mindless servitude had turned her numb to the world. As she left, Blizzard reclined in a padded wicker chair. He clapped his hands together lightly, popping berries into his mouth from a small bowl on the dresser. He sat back and enjoyed the lavish comforts for a while. All the furniture was handmade, and the drink was stiff and dry, a combination he found quite palatable. After a half an hour or so of relaxing, Blizzard made his way down the hall to the training rooms. A man gave him a wooden block with a number on it, "You get four slaves per day, enjoy!" The man spoke with a tone of foreboding and pleasure, a strange combination. Blizzard made his way to the number eight room, entering through the acoustic board door and into the padded chamber. It was a twenty by twenty by eleven room that was covered with padding. This padding had once been white, perhaps, but years of blood stains had turned it a splotchy brown and yellow. A rope hung from the cieling near the entrance way, suspended from a small bronze bell. Blizzard tugged the rope, and the bell chimed loudly. The three doors opened, releasing one masked warrior from each, and a fourth man crawled out behind the last warrior, wielding a large sword. They all jumped into a semi-circle formation, attempting to trap Blizzard against the back wall. Blizzard chuckled, "Ah, I needed this." wc(424) |

Early in the morning, as the sun was just creeping over the horizon, a great iron bell began to toll loudly from the banquet room of the dojo. The sound rushed through the entire facility, summoning the myriad of sleeping warriors to the central room. As Blizzard entered the great chamber, he noticed a large pedestal had been placed at the far end. The food and amenities of the former day had been cleared away, along with the tables. Now, a large figure in black robes stood at the top of this pedestal, reading off names as a huge chalkboard was filled with the matchups for the tournament. Soon the Line up was complete, There were thirty-two fighters in all, which meant that Blizzard would have to kill five opponents to reach the top. The fighting began after the competitor's were given a bowl of rice to eat. Blizzard waited eagerly for his first fight. He studied the matches that went before his, amazed at how boring they were. None of the fighters so far could even fly, let alone use Ki. Toldan walked into the ring, already stained with blood. He made a few warm up kick-flurries and punches. The entire crowd was roaring now, most of them being members of his dojo. His opponent, a cat-man in a karate gui, was stretching in the opposite corner. Toldan studied the grey-furred warrior, he knew that the creature's claws would be his main concern. With a resounding gong, the match began. The cat-man, Kiruga, leapt twenty feet high into the air toward's Toldan. The fierce creature was fast, but Toldan was ready. His coiled fist flew straight into Kiruga's face, stopping it in mid-flight. The slashing claws still managed to rip at Toldan's cinammon flesh, but they caused only scratches in comparison to what could have been achieved. Toldan shifted his body and struck a powerful uppercut into the beast's gut while it still hung in mid-air. Without hesitation, Toldan was shot up into the air. He jumped quickly, rising faster than his opponent. With a lightning fast front-flip he slammed his heel into the monster's back, sending it speeding back to earth. Kiruga pounced off the ground to meet his opponent head on as he descended, his fanged mouth hung wide and his clawed hands tensed as the ripping utensils extended. With an incredibly quick one two combo, he raked his claws at Toldan. Luckily for the human, his hand wraps protected his forearms slightly from the tearing attack. maneuvering in the air, Toldan slammed Kiruga's wide head with a crushing side kick. The impact cracked the great cat's neck, sending him slamming into the ground in a heap. wc(450) |

Blizzard had been matched up against weak opponents. His first match was over with one blow. His second match took three. soon it was time for the final match of the tournament. Toldan went into his private chamber. He removed his hand wraps, and then put them on top of his dresser. He opened the drawer of the dresser, where he had the specially prepared hand wraps waiting. As he left the chamber, he gave one final prayer to the dark gods of the Shadowclaw. He was counting on this trick to work. Fireworks exploded in the night sky. The final match of the tournament was always held at night, too honor the end of all things. Three gongs chimed in sequence, calling the fighters too the arena. Blizzard looked at his opponent warily. He had seen Toldan fight several times now, and he new that this was a skilled opponent. But none of these fighters knew of his ability to transform, so far it had not been necessary. He was confident that this human would crumble in the wake of his metamorphosis. The great gong struck, signaling the start of the match. Blizzard immediately flew skyward, stopping about fifty feet above the battle field. He fired off a pair of finger blasts at Toldan, attempting to lead his shots as the human ran forward. With a great leap, Toldan vaulted into the air. He deflected the blasts deftly with ki charged strikes. With a flip he attempted to land a kick on the floating creature, but Blizzard simply moved back out of the way. As his opponent descended, Blizzard sped downards to meet him. He spun to the side swiftly, delivering a quick combo of kicks and tail strikes. With a hop over his now stumbling opponent, Blizzard did a flip in mid-air. He came out of it with a kick to Toldan's back. Toldan fell forward, but caught himself at the last second. He used his forward momentum to barrel roll across the ground and then shot up to his ready. Blizzard jetted towards him with a flurry of punches, which Toldan dodged by side-stepping at the last moment. He swung hard, landing a strong uppercut to Blizzard's midsection. The clay spheres on the knuckles of his handwrap broke, and the sharp needles underneath punched into Blizzard's armor plating. Toldan followed immediately with a punch to Blizzard's face, burying the spines into the monster's webbed cheek. As he leapt away, Toldan noticed the green poison oozing from the wounds. It mixed with the creatures dark purple blood and ran down it's body in drips. "Hah, even the mighty Changelings can be hurt!" Toldan roared, he hadn't expected to even land the hits so soon. Now he just had to stay alive until the poison set in. wc(468) |

Blizzard stumbled backwards, trying to hold the dark purple blood in his torso. The other fighter had hit him with spiked knuckles. "You coward, You will know pain for what you have done!" Blizzard lunged towards his opponent, firing off a volley of energy beams to distract his foe. Toldan dodged the blasts deftly, but didn't have time to also react as Blizzard appeared in a blur in front of him. The Changeling warrior delivered a one-two combo to Toldan's face, slamming the human's head twice with armor-plated elbows. Instantly Blizzard dropped for a sweep kick, attempting to trip the villainous human fighter. As Toldan was rolled over, Blizzard flipped forward and slammed his heel into the his opponents exposed back. Toldan squelched out a spatter of blood. His internal organs had taken far too much strain from the last blow, and now he was struggling to rise to his knees. "Hah, so you really thought you could stop me with those child toys?" Blizzard stood over Toldan, mocking him with a motherly scolding. "May the Dark Gods hear my pleas! Aid me in destroying all who oppose the Shadowclaw Dojo!" Toldan rose to his knees, lifting his hands to the sky. Suddenly, Blizzard felt a strange rush flow through his body. He immediately felt weak, and his vision began to blur. "Damn you, poison!? And you take yourselves as warriors!?" Blizzard screamed with fury despite how tight his chest was becoming. "You think this will stop me fast enough before I kill you all!? Fools, everyone here will die!" Blizzard spread his legs and crouched, lifting his fists vertical. With a hideous twisting and snapping, he transformed into an eight foot tall monster. Toldan was rising too his feet when he heard the sickening creaking and popping of his opponents transformation. He was concerned now, the poison didn't seem to effect the Changeling enough to stop him. By now the poison was surely coursing through his entire body, but the creature was still strong enough to transform. Toldan realized the major flaw in his plan, relying on a human poison to kill a monster from the void of space. As a look of true terror crossed his face, a giant clawed fist ripped through his torso. wc(379) total wc(3,939) |
