The evening was rather calm with the shrill chirps of a few crickets off in the distance. Or perhaps they were cicadas. Oboe didn’t mind either way. Whatever it was relaxed him, made him feel at ease. The sun was almost below the horizon now, but the moon was already out. A few stars twinkled behind him, in the darker part of the sky.

The soft reddish-orange light from the sun clashed with another softer green light. Oboe hadn’t noticed it until a few seconds before and sat up straight. The small gem he carried in his pocket was glowing again, the first time it had in almost a week. He held it at arm’s length and closed his eyes calmly. He could somehow see a flash of light though his eyes were closed. The instant it returned to darkness, they snapped open.

Standing in front of him on a barren plain was a young man with dark hair, almost more of a dark violet than black. His attire seemed to allude to him being rather serious by nature, but his expression said otherwise. But what intrigued Oboe wasn’t either of those things, but a small yellow disc around his head. A halo.

“So, I guess that means you’re dead,” Oboe said. “But at least you’ve got a body. You still fight, can’t you?”

"I think I landed on my keys..." Gosai grunted from the ground he lay upon, staring upwards. Meloi had once again overcome all of his attacks before sending him crashing down onto the unforgiving surface of South Kai's planet.

"You don't have any keys." The Kai in question pointed out, laying back in a lawn chair where he was observing their match with a cool beverage. "Now, I suppose a five minute break is in order." He suggested, setting his beverage down. "Get something to drink and come on back for part two of the lesson."

Gosai nodded, supposing he should be happy that at least now he recognized South Kai's training as training rather than at tempts to turn him into some kind of a humorous sideshow. As the human martial artist entered the kitchen, filling up a decently sized glass of water to enjoy as he slipped his hand into his pocket.

For whatever reason, the only item he still had to his name here was the gem of telepathy. Still, it proved to be an ample diversion during South Kai's 'breaks' from training. And closing his fist around it, Gosai shut his eyes. Opening them up soon after on a new... ish... world.

"Well, this all looks familiar." He commented to himself as he was interrupted by his partner, already showing up as well.

Is... is he hitting on me? The human thought, holding the glass of water, that had somehow come with him, behind his back. "Yeah, I can still fight. How 'bout you?" He asked with a grin, although neglecting to assume anything recognizable as a combat stance.

"I suppose I should be polite too." Gosai added, almost as an afterthought. "My name is Gosai, if you've been anywhere besides Namek you can probably guess I'm a human. I'm gonna guess you're either a Namekian or a human that really really likes body paint." He added with a small grin.

"Yeah, I can still fight,” the human answered with a grin “How 'bout you?"

“Of course,” Oboe replied. “I’ve been itching to fight someone on my level for a while. I hope that if you’ve been training while you’re dead, we might be on par with each other. So, let’s get started.”

Oboe put his hands to his sides and bowed before taking his typical stance, his hands out in front of his body, the palms open.

"I suppose I should be polite too,” his opponent replied. "My name is Gosai, if you've been anywhere besides Namek you can probably guess I'm a human. I'm gonna guess you're either a Namekian or a human that really really likes body paint."

“Yeah, I’m a Namekian. My name is Oboe,” Oboe said back. “Besides, body paint doesn’t give you antennae.”

He shifted his stance so that it was slightly deeper, then dashed forward. His first strike was a heavy punch, meant to do little more than get the fight started. Two lighter strikes followed, then a quick knee going for the solar plexus.

"Hey, they could be pipe cleaners for all I know." Gosai teased the Namekian a bit more. As Oboe came forward to start the match however, the human martial artist finally started making his own attempts to fight back just before Oboe had gotten into position to strike at him.

Whipping his arm forward he splashed the remainder of his water into the Namekian warrior's face. Granted, this took up the time he had planned to use on dodging initially. Forced to take the opening punch the human did the only thing he could and let the first attack land true, throwing himself backwards just before it landed, allowing him to take less of the impact than might have originally happened.

The momentum of the punch and his own body sent Gosai sprawling across the ground, but allowed him to avoid the other two strikes. Meanwhile, the human fighter raised his left hand before allowing a small beam of ki to erupt from it, aimed for the Namekian's shoulder. "You've got some muscle to ya, Oboe." He admitted before dashing forward.

In the space of those few moments the human martial artist closed the distance between himself and the Namekian before pivoting on his heel, moving his right leg almost like a whip to kick the inside of Oboe's thigh, preferably with his shin. "But do you have endurance?"

Regardless of whether or not his kick landed, Gosai's next move occurred almost as soon as the words were out of his mouth. Grabbing Oboe's shirt in his hands before rolling backwards, attempting to plant his foot at the Namekian's hip and, with luck, tossing him a good distance away with the attack.

As Oboe’s punch landed, Gosai pulled a glass of water out from behind his glass into the Namekian’s face. He couldn’t see his opponent skidding across the ground as he tried to wipe the water out of his eyes.

"You've got some muscle to ya, Oboe," he could hear Gosai say. He knew it was coming from straight in front of him, about two or three meters away, but couldn’t tell what exactly his opponent was doing. His acute hearing could only do much. Suddenly, something struck his lower thigh, presumably a low kick, but he couldn’t see. He opened his eyes as Gosai said, "But do you have endurance?"

The human had his hand tight around his shirt and one foot just across from him. He heaved the Namekian off the ground, and as Oboe was upside-down, he latched onto Gosai’s shoulders with both hands. As he went flying, his arm stretched out, covering the distance between the two of them. He flipped over, his flexible, rubber like arms still clinging to Gosai, then tried to lift him up off the ground and throw him to the side.

"Why do I always forget the stretching?" Gosai queried to himself as he felt Oboe yank him off the ground. Once again, he attempted to 'roll with the punches' so to speak, considering it was a throw, and allowed Oboe to move him to where he planned to send the human.

In the air, Gosai did the only thing he really could with a hand clenching each of his shoulders: he reached up and forcefully grabbed the wrist on Oboe's right hand, hoping he fell into the majority of beings where right was the main hand. From there he attempted to swing his legs over the Namekian's arm, placing him with luck into what, on a normal sized arm, would be a painful joint lock.

With the Namekian it would probably be only an annoyance. "C'mon now, Oboe, if I'm the only one talking this fight's gonna be kinda boring." He pointed out before grunting as his body his the ground. Still, he locked up his limbs tightly, attempting to clamp down on the bones of Oboe's forearm with all the strength his own limbs could manage.

"Heh, someone like you would've been a huge help with a couple of my fights back on Namek." He commented as well. Well, Kai, I have to admit your tricks do reduce the impact on my body. He thought begrudgingly.

Told ya. The answer came in his mind, much to the annoyance of the human. You don't get to be a few thousand years old without learning a few hundred things.

Do you read my mind waiting for chances to stroke your own ego? The human asked mentally, his attention distracted from his own match at the moment.

No, I do it so you stop paying attention. Like right... now.

Oboe succeeded into lifting Gosai into the air. However, it certainly didn’t prevent him from counterattacking. He kicked the Namekian’s extended elbow, and unusually enough, his arm bent backwards, almost as if it was made of rubber. With a human, Saiyan, or the like, the attack would have been much more painful. Fortunately for him, his body was flexible enough that the blow hardly mattered. The force behind it, however, still made the attack successful.

"C'mon now, Oboe,” Gosai cried. “If I'm the only one talking this fight's gonna be kinda boring." His grip on the Namekian’s arm suddenly became tighter, like a clamp trap on an animal’s leg. However, Gosai seemed distracted an instant later. He stared blankly off into space, as if the fight didn’t matter.

Oboe knew this was a golden opportunity, and was more than willing to seize it. Pulling his arm back would be difficult with Gosai holding on so tightly, so instead, he decided on a different course of action. His body tensed up, then began to tremble. The veins in his forehead suddenly became visible though his skin, pulsing with each beat of his heart. Oboe’s elongated arm bulged and took on a more normal shape, not appearing as stretched out as it had before. At the same time, the rest of him was getting steadily larger until the arm’s size matched the rest of him.

The instant Gosai snapped back to reality, Oboe threw a heavy, ki-infused punch with his free hand.

You did that on purpose! The human mentally admonished the Kaio, however the only response he received was an amused chuckle in his mind. Snapping to reality, he saw his perspective had altered greatly. Everything seemed much, much bigger.

Well, not everything. Just Oboe. In fact, when the punch landed on the human it sent him bouncing off of the ground with a groan. "I can't feel my organs..." He whined somewhat pathetically. However, the human didn't stay on the ground long before flying himself straight up into the sky.

Never the greatest tactitian, the human worked on the obvious plan... to simply attempt to reverse the massive size-change of the Namekan. Gosai held out his arms, hands open before slowly closing them into fists... attempting to exert a telekinetic force around the green giant's body and perhaps force it back to it's original size.

"That's a heck of a growth spurt." He commented wit ha wink. "Lot better than the one I had." He added before opening his mouth, attempting to fire off a burst of ki from his own mouth while still trying to exert whatever telekinetic pressure he could on the Namekian Warrior.

"Spicy..." He puffed, a bit of smoke emerging from his mouth. "Note to self. Don't do that very often..."

Gosai was smacked into the ground by Oboe’s enormous fist with a grumble of "I can't feel my organs..."

“I’ve never felt my organs; you should be fine,” the Namekian commented.

Though down, Gosai was far from out. He immediately sprang to life and shot back into the air. He held his hands out in front of himself, the palms flat at first, then slowly closing shut. Oboe could feel a pressure closing in on his body, trying to force him back to his typical size. In an effort to relieve the strain, his aura flared up into a brilliant red aura, one reserved for the Kaiôken. Though perhaps it wasn’t the best idea to fight fire with fire, as though the pressure from being crushed by psychic powers disappeared, the strain put on his body by his own move was overpowering.

"That's a heck of a growth spurt,” Gosai said winking. “Lot better than the one I had." His mouth shot open and a quick blast of ki shot out of it. In an attempt to counter it, Oboe unleashed a similar blast of ki from his mouth, though his was colored crimson red due to the effects of his Kaiôken. The two blasts collided in the air, blowing them both to smithereens.

"Spicy..." Gosai said. A small bit of smoke poured out of his mouth. “Note to self. Don't do that very often..."

Oboe wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead and his aura died down. “That was great,” he said with a smile. “It’s been a while since I’ve had a good fight. I hope we get to do it again sometime.” Suddenly, he felt a tugging sensation, something pulling him away from their spar and back to reality.
