Awakening Difficulty: Easy Location: Namek Description: There is no way for one to unlock their true potential without first becoming one within themselves. Only on the Planet Namek can you find the one person that can train your mind enough for you to awaken the inner potential within your body. Seek him out and have him train your mind to Awaken the power from within. Reward: +25 all stats and Awakening Super Form Available: Always The early morning was always a time of peace, atop Guru's Spire. Most of the elder's trainees would be waking in an hour or so, this was one of the few times of the day that Aethos truly had to himself. Seated cross legged on one of the meditation stones, the young hybrid looked as if he was staring out into the distance, though anyone could tell that he was probably looking more so within himself. The past few weeks had been a trying time; raised and created by the Saiyan Royal Army, he was slowly learning to act on his own and follow what he believed in, rather than listening to orders. For the first time in his life he felt fear, the fear of accepting responsibility for what he was doing and what he could become. Yet instead of throwing him off the path that he had recently chosen, Aethos had managed to make some friends who strongly encouraged his new behaviors, and he embraced the fear as a natural part of his life. A new sun broke the horizon and Aethos' self reflection was brought to an end as he heard softly approaching footsteps behind him. Turning his head just enough to see one of the Namekian bodyguards approaching in his peripheral, the hybrid stood and turned, ready for another task from his Master. “Ah, eager as always, it would seem.” The bodyguard said with a smile and approving nod. “Master Guru has asked that you seek out a western Elder named Kayle. This man has incredible resources, and Guru believes that he can help you achieve some of your true power.” Aethos nodded excited, he had already grown more powerful than ever under Guru's tutelage and the prospect of increasing that more brought a rush of hope to him. One day, he knew, he would be able to stand up for the right purposes and oppose those who would maliciously destroy for no good reason. “Thank you. Whereabouts is this village I am to visit, exactly?” |

Flying for what seemed like hours, Aethos' logical mind realized that it was actually just the anticipation which was making it seem like it was taking so long. As he whipped through the sky, Aethos saw a small village on the horizon, growing as he approached, and his excitement and speed grew. Though it was only five small cabins in a circle, a much larger cabin occupied the center of it. Aethos reasoned that it was probably a communal building of some sort, with the smaller ones being the homes. With that bit of knowledge in his mind, Aethos approached the center building cautiously. Though many on the planet had welcomed him, he still had the look of a Saiyan, even without their gear on, and occasionally he was greeted with less than warm welcome. Knocking loudly on the doorframe, the door itself actually just a hung piece of leather, he spoke loudly. “Hello, I'm here from Elder Guru's Spire?” He paused for a moment, hearing some movement inside, he opened the curtain-like door enough to show himself. “I was told that there is someone here to help me on the next leg of my journey?” He asked tentatively, looking out across the half-dozen burly looking Namekians. The cabin itself was full of what looked like warriors, all hard muscles and large bodies. Aethos, by comparison, looked like a street waif, his skeletal-thin body barely casting a shadow from the doorway. The warriors looked from the door over to a head table, then immediately went back to eating and talking amongst themselves. “Aethos right?” Came a voice from the head table. It was so quiet that it was surprising to the hybrid that he could actually hear it above the sounds of the eating. “You are in the right place, indeed. Feel free to eat, we can begin after the meal.” Aethos opened his mouth to point out that he didn't require food, but decided against it. He moved to an open spot beside one of the large warriors and sat down, sipping at a glass of water to try to look relaxed. He was simply eager to begin his training. |

With the meal over, Aethos sat silently while waiting for the rest of the warriors to file out of the cabin. The Namekian fighters left the cabin in pairs, and Aethos noted that there was just enough of them for each pair to have one of the exterior buildings to themselves. Right after noticing this, he was gestured to the front, where the Elder and one other of the green-skinned people were waiting for him. “Just so you know, we are going to be working on getting you comfortable with yourself. Elder Guru has made the excellent point that without being in touch with yourself you won't be able to truly relax and let go in battle.” The Elder said, nodding to the Namekian warrior to his side. “Chal here will help you discover how to release your inner self in battle. I will be observing, do not worry.” Chal and Aethos squared off from each other outside the large central cabin. “So, what exactly is going to be going on? I don't quite follow.” Aethos asked, quirking an eyebrow at the Namekian. Chal smiled, his voice a deep rumbling bass. “Just relax. We'll be sparring, at low speeds, while trying to clear your mind.” The Namekian spread his legs into a fighting stance, taking a deep breath. As he exhaled a red aura shot up out of his body, flickering and standing against the light green grass. “So just take a deep breath and power up. Then, react on how you feel, rather than how you think you should.” Aethos nodded, adopting a stance similar to Chal, and flaring his own power to life. The faint yellow aura came up around him, not anywhere near as powerful or solid as Chal's looked. “So what n-” Before he could finish, Chal had shot across the small clearing. It was all Aethos could do to duck under a punch and plant both palms firmly on the Namekian's chest, launching him away. Chal grunted, but shook his head. “You're slow. Stop thinking about what you're doing, just do what seems right.” He growled, closing the distance once again. The two clashed again, Aethos simply working on his defenses, working against his years of training, of analyzing and using his superior mind to beat opponents. Trusting his instincts was much harder than he initially realized. |

The new training regime that Aethos was a part of was... hardening if nothing else. The first day was simply Aethos and Chal, training and talking about ideas, helping each other grow and fall more in touch with their power and their instincts. It took nearly a week before Aethos had his first breakthrough. Chal's assault was as furious and seemingly random as always, but Aethos felt one step ahead of him the entire time. As the Namekian twisted and flexed to throw punches and kicks, the Hybrid's body was reacting to things that he wasn't even consciously noticing. Attacks began missing by smaller and smaller margins as he instinctively cut out any unnecessary movement. There was a noticeable change in the spar at that point. With his defense seemingly solidified Aethos started to get more aggressive. He could feel himself pressing up against some unknown barrier, something he could feel but not see. His own attacks took on a seemingly random pattern, attacking from where ever he could, as soon as an opening would be created, his own techniques causing Chal's to miss by millimeters when he shifted to dodge the return attacks. The yellow flickering fire around him started to turn golden, solid. His fists moving faster than he could keep track of, a fire lit up in Aethos' eyes as Chal began to fall back. There was a sudden light-switch type moment in his brain, as if his body had been kicked into overdrive. With the newfound speed and power Aethos began to feel overconfident. As his attacks drove Chal backwards across their clearing, he started to stumble, he couldn't handle the speed, the power. A moment was all it took. Overstepping just a little bit, going with what he was trained for, heading for the kill. Chal took control with a sudden twist, knocking aside the punches being thrown by the Namekian, driving upwards and back, flipping over as he kicked off of the hybrids face. Aethos fell back, sprawling on the ground as Chal landed lightly. “Excellent.” The Namekian said, helping his opponent to his feet. “Don't be so quick to go for an end. It is better to win for sure, than to take a chance only to miss something.” Aethos nodded, looking down, slightly ashamed of himself. “Yes. I know.” He steadied himself and got back to his stance. The Namekians were teaching him to be just as ruthless as a Saiyan, they simply called it something else. But Aethos knew now what he could be, whatever their ideology, Aethos could use what they knew for his own, he did not have to become as they seemed to want him. |

With his new found power within his grasp, Aethos spent the rest of the week with the training camp perfecting his control over it. He knew, much like some of his battle techniques, that sometimes doing them in practice varied greatly from doing them in live fire situations. But he knew he had the ability to invoke his newly awakened power at will. As he had on many nights in the past, the Elder trainer for this camp gathered all of the students together for a send off ceremony. Just over half of the students, Aethos included, were being tested, and simply being selected usually meant that the pupil was ready for the final test. As small as it sounded, the final test was to show that they could invoke their new powerful form from even a resting start, without any adrenaline or the pressure of battle. As the Elder walked the line Aethos' sensors could pick up the growing anxiety of the people around him, elevated temperatures, breathing, and heart rates were the norm for all the warriors in the line. Surprising, however, was his own increased nervousness, something he had not planned for. Though he knew it would be fine, and over soon, Aethos could not get the possibility of failure out of his head. The Elder stepped up in front of the Hybrid, watching his young pupil. In silence, the Elder nodded to Aethos, who's eyes drifted half closed for a split second at the command. With a burst of power that was tangible, a golden yellow aura poured from the Android-Saiyan's skin, flickering feet above him like a shield of living flame. When he opened his eyes they had turned from their normal metallic silver to the red of heated iron. His long hair, styled less and less like a Saiyan the more time he spent away, whipped back from his face, strands flapping in an unseen breeze. With the rush of power came feelings of invincibility that Aethos knew to be foolish. Even so he could barely supress the smile as he fell back in line, standing with his hands crossed behind him, aura kicking dust and small rocks away from him. The Elder smiled, extending a hand in congratulations. “Excellent, Aethos. You have learned much in a short time.” The Hybrid smiled, his eyes cooling into their natural silver as his aura abruptly ended. “You have been an excellent teacher. I believe there is much I can accomplish with these gifts.” He said quietly, smiling widely as he shook hands with his instructor. WC: 1969 |
