“Sir, please come with us.”

The sound made Digu stir. “Wha…?” he asked, all but falling out of the tree he had been napping in. He found there were two namekians standing before him, both of them wearing the clothes of Guru’s personal guard.

What’s going on?” he said, wiping the drowsy from his eyes and regaining a little of his composure.

“Master Guru has requested you come to see him,” one of them said, his voice sounding like he must have been the one that had spoken a moment ago. They both seemed a little on edge, probably worried that he was going to attack them, but the so far silent one looked to be in a little worse shape than his partner.

Staring hard at the apparently nervous one, Digu spoke to the more talkative one without looking at him. “Why? What does he need with me?” he asked, still peering at the other namekian, who’s eyes kept flicking back and forth from him to the ground. He was definitely nervous, and right now he was extremely scared he was going to die.

Noticing that there was a moment of hesitation, Digu looked back at namekian number one just as he began to speak again. “I… I don’t know sir. He wouldn’t tell us, only that he must see you immediately. Please sir, just come with us.”

Looking back and forth between the two natives, the saiyan let a smirk spread across his face before replying. “Alright. I’ll go. I can’t promise I’ll help the old buffoon though,” he said coldly.

The two namekians flinched visibly at the insult to Guru, but both were wise enough to hold their tongues, although they did glare at him hatefully. For a moment the trio just stood there, looking at each other in silence.

Chuckling, Digu gave the two a playful shove. “After you, boys,” he said, almost warmly.

A short flight and about ten minutes later found Digu standing before the great namekian Guru. As he had noted before, the elder was significantly large, even for a namekian. This guy has every namekian on the planet doing backflips at his every whim… why would he need me to help him?

As if sensing his thoughts… which Digu often suspected the namekian was capable of, Guru took in a deep raspy breath and spoke. “Please… leave us alone for a few minutes, my sons. I must speak in private with our saiyan friend,” he said in his deep voice, which seemed to reverberate off the walls to give any listener a surround sound effect.

Although they seemed reluctant to leave their elder alone with an outsider, especially one that had shown such aggressive over the past few weeks, the guards currently on duty nodded and left the room, probably going to join the guards that stood at the doorstep.

Whenever they were alone, Digu crossed him arms. “So what exactly did you call me here for pops?” the saiyan said, more than a little annoyance coming out in his tone of voice. It wasn’t like he had more important things to do, but he wanted to give the elder a hard time for actually asking help from him anyways.

For a moment it seemed that Guru was going to try and anger him even further by staying silent, but after a particularly nasty coughing fit, he caught his breath and paused for only a moment, just long enough to gather his thoughts. “I have discovered that there is a traitor –cough- amongst my guards. I do not know –cough- who it is… and I do not –cough- know which of them I can trust. –cough- I need the help of an outsider to find the traitor,” he said, each word long and drawn out, making it seem as if it took him hours just to finish speaking.

A smirk spread across Digu’s face. “Really? You need my help to figure out which of your guards wants you dead? My my my… This is certainly unexpected. My only question is… can I kill him when I find him?” the saiyan said with a tone that said he was at least mildly interested.

A low grumble escaped from Guru’s chest, growing in volume before suddenly disappearing. “A traitor is a traitor… if death is a must… then so be it,” he said, obviously reluctant.

Fonos cracked his knuckles. “Why exactly should I help you? Who are you working for?” He waited in silence, but the Namek didn’t respond. He slowly got to his feet – for he’d previously been leaning against an overhanging rock surface – and stepped closer to the green alien in front of him. He continued to look impassively forward, almost emotionless in his appearance.

“Are you sure not speaking in the right choice?” his voice was quiet, soft, almost gentle. But suddenly there was a flash of dull orange light, and a spurt of blood that slipped onto the grass before them. Now the Fallen stood before a slightly lopsided Namekian. One arm was missing. It wouldn’t be too much of an issue with those plants re-growing organs like all hell, but it would at least get the message across.

“I work for Guru,” he replied, visibly flinching. “Like all Namekians ought to. But I have heard tell…” he paused. Fonos took another step forward. He didn’t really care what he had to say, but the aggressive step would make him speed up his rant and thus, leave his sight quicker.

It served its purpose well.

“Well I mean to say,” he hurriedly continued, “that some of them seem to think Guru may be master of the lands on Namek, but he is by no means unstoppable or infallible. In fact, I was approached by one of the hooligans. He wanted me to make sure Kizu was in the Southern Village in two days’ time, around midday. I asked why he needed this to be, since Kizu was Guru’s only guard then, but he didn’t reply.”

“I see…” It was quite interesting, really. Someone attempting to kill the old man perhaps? It definitely looked that way. “And what did you come to me for? To keep watch over your Elder? Surely the Namek isn’t strong enough to harm Guru.”

“That’s the thing,” green man continued. “I don’t know at all. I don’t even know who it is. He never gave a name, and he wore a cloak the entire time.”

Idiot. “Well. It certainly looks like you have a dilemma. But, I’m quite busy here, with my own issues concerning the Elder. So whether you help this mysterious man or not – don’t care.”

There was a pause.

Finally, Fonos sighed. “What do you want me to do?”

“Find him. Bring him to justice.”

“Oh, that’s all? I don’t know anything about this vigilante anyway, you ass.”

“Well, I did at least give you a date and time.”

“… I suppose you did.” Fonos rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. Much as he acted otherwise, he needed the Elder to live because he still didn’t answer the questions he needed to be answered. So he followed the plant a quick distance away until they reached Guru’s House. He walked in, noticing the Namekian almost fleeing his presence with something of a note of pride, to hear the last bit of a conversation apparently about the same thing he’d just showed up for.

“…can I kill him when I find him?”

“A traitor is a traitor… if death is a must… then so be it.”

“Don’t let that dumbass lead you on,” he said, walking in. “He can't handle it. I’ve got this, Guru. You'll be safe in my hands. But you know my price.”

Hearing someone enter the room behind him, Digu turned to see the strange winged alien he had encountered before; Fonos, if he remembered correctly. “Dumbass?” he echoed, hearing Fonos’ insult. “How about I shove your head into the ground and feed it to the earth? Or maybe I’ll whoop you so hard that you piss out of your nose, and shit out of your mouth?”

Walking forward as he spoke, he stopped nose to nose with Fonos, so close that he could feel the alien’s hot breath on his face. ‘So which is it, freak?” Digu said tauntingly. “Should I beat your ass, or are you going to shut your mouth like a good little birdie?”

“That is enough,” Guru said, pausing to cough. “The two of you will work together to find the traitor. It must be so. Do what you must, but you have to find him.”

Shooting a glanced at the old namekian, Digu turned back to Fonos. “If I have to… listen here,” he said, jabbing the alien in the chest with his finger. “Stay out of my way. I’m going to do things my way, and I’m going to find this guy. Got it?”

Walking away from Fonos and towards the door, Digu turned just before stepping outside. “Keep your little guards out of my hair, Guru, or I’ll kill them too. I’ll have the traitor by tomorrow.”

As he stepped outside, the four guards there, two normal ones and two from inside, turned to him. “What did he say to you?” they asked, almost in unison.

Staring at the four for a moment, Digu grinned. “Nothing for you to know,” he taunted, meeting their individual gazes. “But I bet you sure would like to know, wouldn’t you?”

The four nodded, but they knew he wasn’t going to tell them.

Fonos kept his face devoid of emotion, but almost snapped when the Saiyan made contact with his body, poking it for emphasis with his almost nonexistent threat. It took all his self-control not to rip that arm straight from his body and force him to violently choke on it while in the fetal position. But yet, somehow, he calmed his nerves; perhaps it was Guru, giving him mental images to soothe.

The Saiyan, Digu, stalked off, headed for the huts. Once the hall was quiet, he looked at the elder, and murmured, “The assassination is in two days’ time. I don’t plan on looking for the traitor. I will kill him the day of, while he attempts his life on you.” Guru nodded briefly, not saying anything. “Don’t forget old man. I need to know. The name is very-”

“Yes… and so you shall know.”

He smiled briefly, before turning away, and walking out of the hut, turning to face the Namekian and the Saiyan. There may have been something to be said about Guru projecting images into his mind because once he walked out of the hut, he subconsciously powered up to about 7,000, just from looking at him. He didn’t look at Digu, but he was sure Robin Hood had noticed his sudden growth and probably guessed at the reason.

Turning to the Namekians, he smiled. “We’re going to go hunt down someone Guru told us to. Apparently, he’s grown more prone to violence.” Just a theory to test whether either of them was in on the plot. Both blanched before immediately growing defensive of their master.

After a few moments he glanced sidelong at the Saiyan, ignoring the Nameks’ utter rage at his blatant insult to the Elder. “Hurry up,” he called. “We’ve got some searching we have to do. No time to go dawdling with the locals.” By then, of course he was already in the air, blasting off just fast enough to cause a flurry of wind, in the direction of the Southern Village. It was as good a place as any to start.

His takeoff was casual in appearance, but it was yet another thing made to slightly irritate the man who looked like he was trying to be the Namekian spokesperson in all his green… something or other. The wind would muss up his asylum-patient thing he was going for, which would, of course, make him show off his oh so threatening Saiyan rage. Fonos had only ever met two Saiyans he considered worthy of attention, and both were probably on Planet Vegeta still.

Glancing back at the harassed Digu, he grinned widely; this would be fun, he decided.

Looking up at his partner, Digu nodded. “Alright,” he said, lifting up into the sky and taking off after the alien, whom ha already begun making his way southward. As Digu neared the alien, he could feel the sort of “in and out” pressure on his ears as Fonos’ wings beat to an rhythmatically to an unheard beat.

Ignoring the continuous, dull thud from the wings slapping the air over and over, Digu caught up to Fonos and came up side by side with him. Sure, he didn’t want to work with him, but since he knew he had to, and had a strange feeling he would continue to have to, he tried to be somewhat friendly at the least.

“So what brings you to Namek?” he asked, eyes flicking towards Fonos for a second before returning to the ground far below. It was just then he noticed his scouter’s last reading on the alien’s Powerlevel. Seven thousands?! I didn’t even notice him powerup… there is no way that’s his maximum. Why didn’t he crush me back there if he’s that powerful?

Suddenly feeling as if he were vastly inferior to Fonos, Digu’s mind delved into thoughts about the alien. He wondered how strong Fonos really was, what kind of training he’d done to get that powerful, what kind of connections did he have, since, from experience, he knew strong fighters always had connections.

More conscious of his partner’s superior position of power, Digu turned his attention back to Fonos, listening to if the alien had made a reply to the question he posed, or had simply ignored him. After a few moments he decided he had been purposefully ignored.

“Listen, I’m sorry for the way I acted back there. I can tend to be a bit… brash at times, but I’m a saiyan… It’s in my blood, you know?” Digu said with a playful grin, glancing at Fonos again. Something about the alien gave him the feeling he was light years behind… in what? He had no idea.

The Saiyan quickly caught up to Fonos, and, when the Fallen heard it, slowed the flaps of his wings to allow him to fall into line. They flew in silence for a long time, him staring at the ground beneath, trying to find some sort of telltale sign of people in this seemingly desolate but yet beautiful landscape. Finally, however, Digu seemed to not be able to handle the silence.

“So what brings you to Namek?” he asked, with forced cheer injected into his voice.

Fonos gave him a sidelong glance and said nothing, angling himself downward to the right. As he banked, he noticed the Saiyan almost hit his wings and winced slightly. Though he was proud of them, they sometimes did get in the way. So he sighed slightly, and folded them away, deciding to use Ki only to fuel this quick trip. It wasn’t like he needed the wings; they just reminded him of the old days.

After a moment he realized that he’d been ignored and apologized. “Listen, I’m sorry for the way I acted back there. I can tend to be a bit… brash at times, but I’m a saiyan… It’s in my blood, you know?” Fonos tried to stifle a grin. Indeed it was.

Much as he hated the kid and his getup, he relented for the time being. “I’m on Namek because I was following the android.” He didn’t elaborate further, nor did he

He slowly started to descend towards the rapidly growing village, noticing that several of the green aliens were taking notice of the pair and were starting to call together the rest.

Eventually Fonos touched down, figuring that Digu would still be following him. One of them stepped forward slowly before calling out, “Who are you, and why have you come here?” He looked taller than the rest, and much fitter. But yet, he didn’t look to be of the warrior class; in fact, he looked like a regular farmer. Odd.

“My name is Fonos. This guy here,” he continued, thumbing at the Saiyan, “is Digu. I need to speak with whoever is in charge here.” There was a pause, before the man took a step back, apparently off to go find their village elder. In the meantime, he glanced at the overlarge leprechaun next to him.

“What exactly do you propose we do?” he asked. He already had something of a plan, but since they were working “together” he figured they ought to at least collaborate briefly.

Realizing his opponent had a ounce or so of diplomacy in his being, Digu noticed the slight softness in Fonos’ voice as opposed to before. It seemed they had come to a silent agreement to be civilized, seeing as how they were now a team, at least for now.

Noticing that the alien started to descend towards a village up ahead, Digu followed suit, deciding that must be their mysterious destination. A few moments later, the two landed beside each other in the center of the village. Instantly the duo found themselves surrounded by the village’s inhabitants.

One of the namekians, taller and more sturdy looking than the rest, spoke up for his people, stepping forward to make it known he was the one talking. “Who are you, and why have you come here?” he asked in a gruff, deep voice that was befitting for one of his size.

Before Digu could formulate a reply in his head, Fonos cut in.”My name is Fonos. This guy here is Digu. I need to speak with whoever is in charge here,” the alien said, motioning towards the saiyan to clarify who Digu was, as if it were necessary. They were the only two outsiders for miles, and certainly the only two in the village at the moment.

After looking at the two for a moment, the namekian turned and stalked off, his long strides carrying him away from the scene quickly. Figuring he was probably going off to find the village’s leader, Digu turned his attention to the other namekians. There didn’t seem to be one amongst them wearing the attire of a warrior, which was odd as most villages had one or two. This was a purely farming community; they’d be easy prey if the need arose.

Sensing movement to his right, Digu looked over to find Fonos speaking to him. “What exactly do you propose we do?” he asked.

He’s definitely embracing this partner idea well. I guess this won’t be so bad.

Thinking about his answer for a moment, Digu looked around once more, noting the dubious, and vastly indifferent look in the eyes of the namekian onlookers. As he turned back to Fonos, he finished thinking about his reply. “I’m not even totally sure what business we have here, since I’m fairly sure the entire guard regiment lives back by Guru’s hut, but these people here don’t look like fighters, even the big guy that spoke up before,” he said, lowering his voice slightly so that only Fonos and any of those listening really intently could hear. “If it comes to a fight, we’ll tear them apart, but that all depends on why you brought us here.”

He glanced at Digu, who “I’m not even totally sure what business we have here,” replied quietly, “since I’m fairly sure the entire guard regiment lives back by Guru’s hut, but these people here don’t look like fighters, even the big guy that spoke up before…” he paused and looked around another time, before lowering it even further.

Fonos leaned in slightly as he finished, “If it comes to a fight, we’ll tear them apart, but that all depends on why you brought us here.” Fonos gave a slow smile, before looking at the natives, who were only now starting to disperse.

“That’s a fair question…” Fonos chuckled softly. “Well, the reason I showed up is because one of the Namekians approached me about the traitor. But he hadn’t been to Guru.” Once more, he looked up. One of them appeared to be giving him a funny glance, but Fonos shook his head; he was just being paranoid.

“He’d been approached by one of the people involved with the assassination, if not the one in charge. They’d wanted Kizu in the South Village during the assault, and wanted the Namekian to make it happen. I figured it was to make a clean kill out of that guy as well, just to make this transition of power, or whatever the hell it is they have planned, would go completely smoothly. So here would be the best place to start to-”

The man reappeared calling, “Follow me.” Fonos twitched slightly at the way he was just “called forward” or “summoned” by this weakling, but had long since learned that people did this merely to pretend to have some semblance of control. So he didn’t say a word, or even show any outward signs of aggression as he walked forward, led past the group of people who hadn’t left with the majority.

They were taken deep towards the far edge of the village, and Fonos looked around to find that surprisingly few of the people looked violent at all, which made him question the validity of this being the Village in question he ought to have been looking for. They walked inside a small building, where an old, wrinkled mad stood on a cane, who’d apparently been walking towards the exit.

“Ah! You must be… Die-goo, and Fo-nose?”
