Apparently Zorn’s warning to Kristy had gone unheeded. After the Saiyan had disappeared into his own room the white haired girl came back to Osiris’ quarters. The thought of not being the one laying there with him kept her awake. So, she used her well practiced stealth to slip into the room and sit down on the bed unnoticed. In Kristy’s mind she had to be the one to earn Osiris’ affection as a way to pay him back and yet her she was doing something that would likely infuriate the youth. As she looked down at the half demon she started to wonder about what Zorn had said. It made Kristy doubt her own intentions, but in that moment Osiris shifted his weight and stretched his arm out away from his body. Kristy smiled and whispered to herself, “It’s like he is inviting me.” Gingerly she laid her head down on his shoulder and snuggled close to his side.

It was early in the morning as the first rays of dawn entered the window of Osiris’ room. As the light gradually increased in the room and finally spilled over onto Osiris’ face he began to wake from his sleep. The night before his dreams were filled with grievous nightmares while he slept in Mr. Henex’s theater room. Strangely once he had gotten back to his bed there were no more disturbing images. In fact he had rarely, if ever, slept so soundly. Becoming more aware of his own senses the half demon began to notice a feeling of pressure on the right portion of his chest, his left shoulder, and on both his sides it felt like something was pressing up against him. Another one of his senses came to life, hearing. The sound of soft breathing filled the air like the distant noise of the tides coming in and out. Finally his sense of smell awakened only to revile two familiar scents. One slightly more citrus in nature, and the other had the vague scent of the fresh flowers that grew in the green house.

Osiris sighed slightly wondering how this had happened. He couldn’t remember anything after kicking the chair in the theater. Does anyone around here have any concept of personal space? A guy has a bad dream and suddenly he can’t sleep alone in his own bed. Ugh, I would really rather avoid them waking up, but my arms are pinned under them. Guess I could just pick them up and throw them out of my room. Maybe then they would get the idea.

Farren reached out and touched his mind, “Stop being a little brat. First off you know Kristy was partly right that you want someone close to you. Admit it; you enjoy waking up like this. Besides, even if you didn’t, think about how it will make them feel if you throw them out of your room. All your time is spent trying to figure out a way to get the Saoirsen to a new planet they can be happy on. Well, both of these girls are part of the Saoirsen and they would be happy on this planet if you would just pay attention to them.

Snorting Osiris replied with his thoughts. Maybe she is partly right. I have you though. Two sentient beings, who can read each other’s thoughts, can’t get much closer than that. They will probably be hurt for a little while if I throw them out, but it is better than them getting attached to me. With all the crap I do, eventually if will die, a lot sooner than them too. They will find someone else to fixate on soon enough.

A grumbling laugh echoed in Osiris’ mind, “You’re not afraid of them getting hurt because you die. You know damn well that you would not stay dead. Did you really think you would slip that by me? I was the one who told you that. You are just afraid of getting hurt again like you did with your surrogate mother! Stop being a coward!”

Watch what you say Farren. I am not a coward. Things are complicated as it is. Getting involved with either of them would only make things all that much harder for me to do my job. I have to consider how things will work out in the long run. Being with them adds in too many unknowns.

“Fine, but think about this. You say there are only three things in the universe. That which one hates, that which one loves, and that which is neither. Ask yourself where these girls fall. You have risked your life for both of them at one point or another. I doubt you could say that you hate them. So do not treat them like you do.” With that being said Farren cut the mental link between them leaving Osiris to think by himself.

Osiris cursed under his breath at the situation. Slowly he tried to slip his arms out from under each of the girls. It was an impossible task. As soon as he shifted his weight in the slightest both the girls could feel the movement and started to wake. Helana eyes widened as she looked across Osiris’ chest and saw Kristy rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. The half demon sat up bringing both of them with him. Without saying anything he stood and walked off the end of the bed dropping down to the ground and started doing pushups. He couldn’t think of anything to say so he figured the best thing was to just act like noting out of the norm had happened. The plan was to just go through his usual routine of exercise to get the blood flowing, go get Zorn, head down to the kitchen to eat, and then leave.

Helana looked at Kristy and then gestured with her eyes towards Osiris. The blue eyed girl nodded her head slightly. Helan took a deep breath, smiled slightly, and shrugged her shoulders. Neither one of them was sure what to say to the other. Kristy looked back at Osiris who was still on the floor doing pushups, “Are you mad with us?”

Osiris paused in the middle of his morning exercise, “It doesn’t matter. I have told both of you to back off at some point and yet here we are.” He went back to doing his pushups and then transitioned into sit ups trying to figure out what he would say next. Before he could think of something he was already done. Standing he turned and asked a simple question, “What do you want from me?

Helana didn’t even hesitate. It was like she had been waiting forever to be asked that question. “I want to see smile like you are happy Osiris. Rarely do you ever smile and when you do it isn’t real. I’ve never seen you with an expression of joy on your face and I have known you for two years.

Kristy waited for Helana to be done and then gave her answer, “I want to pay you back for saving me. You always seem so lonely. I want to fix that.” Her blue eyes pleaded at Osiris to understand.

The half demon nodded his head, “I will think about it.” Without explaining what he meant Osiris grabbed his gear making a slgiht change leaving behind his Capsule Corp. sword and his head band. Instead he took the Zweihander suposedly crafed by a Lost One. Stepping out into the halway he slung the large sword across his back, but not wanting to attract too much attention Osiris had wrapped it in cloth. Stopping in front of Zorn’s door he stood and waited for the Saiyan to answer his knocking. While he waited for a response he sent a mental message to Farren to look into something.

The next morning, Zorn arose as the small orange slivers of the morning sun crept through the window in his room. He got up and walked directly into the bathroom and showered once again. He thought it would be a good idea because he did not know when the next possible chance to take a hot shower would be. The warm water flowed over his defined muscles and the steam coming from the hot water heightened his senses and roused him even more from his sleepy state. When his shower was done, he exited the shower, dried off, and wrapped the towel around his waist.

Back out in the room, his training gear, which he had taken off when he had sparred Osiris the day before in the green house, was now cleaned and folded. During the movie the night before, one of the servants must have come in, cleaned it, and returned it. Zorn now put the weighted clothing back on, adjusting it perfectly so that it fit exactly how he liked it. He placed his bracelet over his left wrist and then sat down on the edge of the bed to slide his weighted boots onto his feet. Finally, he grabbed his scouter off the desk and fixed it over his left ear. He pressed the side button a few times and adjusted it so that it would always be recording as he and Osiris traveled.

After finishing dressing, he emptied all the contents of his small back pack and organized everything on the desk so he could take a quick inventory over everything before he left. He checked each item off in his mind as he picked up the items from the desk and placed them in the backpack. Most of his items were in small Capsule Corp. capsules which made them much easier to carry. When he was finished, he closed up the bag and slung it over his shoulders. He hoped that there would be time to eat and grab food supplies before they left.

Jsut then, he heard a rapping of knuckles at his door. It must be Osiris, ready to get moving. Zorn walked to the door and openned it, Osiris standing in the hallway. He didn't have to say a word. Zorn walked out of the room, shutting the door behind him.

The two warriors made their way down the hallway and back to the dining room. This time they walked through the dining room and into the kitchen. There was no one stirring about the kitchen, or even the whole mansion except for Osiris and Zorn. Osiris went and helped himself to some food from one of the cupboards and Zorn followed suit. They ate quickly, deposited their dishes in the sink and then began to head for the door. Osiris stopped at a large cupboard by the door, opened it and began to put a bunch of packaged bars in a bag and then continued out the door, leaving the cupboard open.

Zorn walked to the open cupboard and looked inside. Inside were many boxes of the same kind. The open one had the same little packaged bars that Osiris had put in his bag. Zorn grabbed one and read the label. It was a nutrition bar and the nutrition label said that it contained most of the necessary nutrients needed to sustain life. These would be easy to carry and very useful. Zorn once again followed Osiris' lead and shovelled a few handfuls of the nutrition bars into his back pack, then closed the cupboard.

Zorn went through the door, back through the dining room, and out into the main foyer where Osiris stood awaiting him. It seemed as if they were ready to set off on their mission.

"Got everything we need?" Zorn asked Osiris.

Osiris just nodded his head and then opened the door. Zorn took out the breathing apparatus and placed it over his mouth and nose. The two warriors walked out into the morning air of Cauldron, the sun still rising higher and higher into the air. They continued walking towards the gate of the mansion compound. When Osiris approached it, he leaped over it and Zorn did the same thing. They stood on the other side of the gate looking out over the still city.

"Which way?"

Osiris pointed to the northwest and nodded his head. He then took off on a decently paced jog towards the city, heading northwest.

This not speaking shit is gonna have to stop soon if this partnership is going to work. I need to clear this up.

Zorn took off running after Osiris instead of flying. Zorn thought that he could get more useful training out of running instead of flying. This might also give Osiris and Zorn a chance to talk as they ran. But first, Zorn would have to catch up.

Zorn ran at a hurried pace to catch up with Osiris as they jogged in towards town. This time they stayed on the ground rather than jumping from roof top to roof top. There were not many people stirring in the city, so it wouldn't be a problem to get to the other side of town in no time at the pace that they were going. Zorn finally caught up to Osiris and then began to match his pace. Osiris shot him a little bit of a look, almost astonished that the Saiyan was running next to him and not flying above him.

"Thought I might get a little boost in training if I ran instead of flying all the time. Plus I thought that it might give us a chance to talk a little bit more as we traveled.""

Osiris didn't say anything, but looked back forward and kept his pace. They weaved in and out of different streets, still heading towards the northwest. A few ships came and went overhead, as the city was never completely dead because of the trading hub located in the center of town. The sun continued to rise, now completely over the horizon, but not very high in the sky. The morning air grew warmer and warmer as the morning grew older. The smell of the Cauldron air was musty and stale.

The breathing apparatus that Zorn wore was already beginning to bother him. It was large and awkward on his face. It felt restricting. I need to figure out a better system with this breathing mask. If we have to do any major fighting, it is gonna get in the way. I will have to engineer something better and small that doesn't get in the way. Zorn thought about how he could change the design of the breathing apparatus as they continued to jog through the town.

Every once in awhile they came across and early riser who would just stare at them in amazement as the two ran by. It probably wasn't every morning that they saw a demon and a Saiyan warrior running through the heart of the city. As they made their way closer to the trading hub, more ships were visable. Zorn wondered if there were any other supplies that they needed before skipping town and heading into the wilderness.

"Are there any more supplies that we need to pick up while we are here in the center of the city?" Zorn asked Osiris.

Osiris simply shook his head no and continued jogging through the streets, somewhat leading the way. Again, Osiris' silence irked at Zorn, but this time it did not just concern him, it made hima little bit angry. What the hell was his issue?

Zorn stiffled his anger for the time being and went back to thinking about the breathing apparatus. He thought that he could take it apart, use the parts, and create a better model, something that either went inside of the mouth or something smaller he could put his mouth over so he didn't have this mask impeding his vision and face. He had idea and thought he would try it out the first time that they stopped for a significant amount of time.

Finally, after almost an two hours, they reached the northwest edge of the city. They stopped to take a short break. Zorn grabbed one of the nutrition bars and some water out of his back pack. As he did, he gazed out over the vast empty volcanic fields that no stretched as far as the eye could see. He used his scouter to scan the field, but there were hardly any signs of life, at least nothing major. Zorn looked over at Osiris who was just standing there in his cloak as usual.

"There a specific route that we need to take?"

Once again Osiris shook his head no.

"So we just keep heading northwest through the volcanic fields for right now?"

This time Osiris shook his head yes, but the silence of no talking finally pushed Zorn to the edge where he needed to confront Osiris. They were alone now, so Zorn could talk freely without seeming rude to the others.

"This not talking bullshit has got to stop Osiris. I am tired of asking questions and just getting head nods or blank stares. A blind, deaf, mute has more personality and social skills than you do. If this partnership is going to work out favorably for the two of us, there has to be communication. If there is not communication, there is gonna be a lot of miscommunication and someone could end up getting very hurt, if not killed. Do you get what I am saying? You are not dealing with the Saoirsens or Kristy or Helana or anyone else right now. You are dealing with me and I will not except these barriers that you have thrown up. If this is going to work out the best possible way for the two of us, then you have to start talking. I don't mean to come off as an arrogant asshole, but I need you to talk and be involved. You aren't alone anymore. The whole weight of the universe is not on your shoulders. Got it?"

As they took a break after reaching the outskirts of the city Osiris reached out with his mind towards Farren. Touching the ancient creature’s mind the half demon looked through the flaming hounds eyes. He could see the smuggler he had talked to only the day before backed into a corner looking sweaty as ever. The nervous man nodded his head at something Farren had said and then slipped into a back room. When he reappeared he was holding a silver breastplate and some other pieces of armor. The smuggler’s voice shook and cracked as he spoke with the flaming creature before him, “It was l-lucky I..uhh…I found a man trying to sell this on the b-black market. It, wa-was much ch-cheaper than if I h-had to get it f-from Avalon. W-would have t-taken longer to ship here too.”

Farren set an envelope of zeni he had been carrying in his maw down on the counter while the sweaty smuggler packaged away the armor in a large duffel bag and then slid it towards the horse sized hound. “Tell Osiris th-thanks for me.” Farren snorted a small gout of flame in response and then picked up the straps of the duffel bag between his teeth. Walking out of the shop the flaming hound sprinted so quickly a normal person would only see a streaking light flash by them. In this way Farren passed through the busy areas of the city without attracting too much attention. Although the huge just of wind that resulted often caused problems for nearby people.

“I take it you want me to bring this to you now?” Farren’s gruff voice echoed in Osiris’ head.

Yes, but you already knew that. I would tell you to be quick about it, but you are faster than I am at this point. You forgot to mention that we would increase each others' ability to grow. So, you going to get to the point where you don’t need me anymore?

“Well I didn’t mention that because I didn’t know that myself. There are still many things about the runes I still don’t know. This is the first time I have bound to someone after all. As for being so strong that I wouldn’t need you to bind me to this world, I seriously doubt that. In fact I think it may be just the opposite. The stronger I grow the more I will need an anchor to this plane of existence.”

Interesting, should only take you another couple minutes for you to get to us. This armor better be good for how much it cost. Osiris’ mental conversation with Farren was suddenly interrupted by what sounded to be a very agitated Zorn. The half demon turned to look at Saiyan as he spouted off about Osiris’ lack of social graces. Rather than interrupt Zorn he simply let him get it all out before saying anything.

“Ever consider you just talk too much? Or maybe you just never asked the right question? Each of your questions was an easy yes or no response. Why would I waste me breath on them when we have been running? “ Osiris sighed and took out the map he had received from a strange old woman and handed it to Zorn. “Frankly I can barely decipher the damn thing. It won’t be any use until we find some kind of reference point. All I know is that somewhere north-west there is a ruin I have seen before. Whether they will help or not I have no idea.

Osiris sat down on the ground with his back against a large stone. He could feel Farren drawing closer. Looking at the horizon he could tell the second sun would be rising in a couple of hours. “I am a quiet person by nature. Fucking deal with it. It isn’t like I enjoy your self-righteous ideas about good and evil. Maybe if you paid attention to how the universe really worked you would understand things are never that black and white. What is it exactly do you think we need to talk about? You watch my back and I will watch yours. A lengthy conversation doesn’t really seem needed to get to that conclusion. Excuse me I have a package that arrived earlier than anticipated.” The half demon could be articulate when he wanted to be, he just never did.

Farren dropped from a nearby roof top and galloped over to Osiris. Removing his cloak the half demon began taking off his weighted clothes and then opened up the duffel bag the flaming hound had brought him. Inside he could see the glint off of a silver breast plate. Pulling out the few pieces of armor Osiris quickly pulled them over his normal clothing. Amazingly it felt as if the silver metal had been crafted to fit his exact body. With the pieces of armor on his chest, shoulders, and thighs strapped on comfortably he unwound the cloth around his zweihander. For a moment he considered how well the sword seemed to go along with his new armor. After a few moments of consideration and double checking the silver metal was hidden under Osiris’ cloak. The zweihander was strapped onto his back once more, this time at the ready. All the while he went through this change he waited expectantly for Zorn’s reply.

Before turning back to Zorn the half demon sent a quick thought to Farren. Thank you. This will be very helpful along our trip. Take these weighted clothing back to Henex’s please. Helana may wish to use them.

As Farren turned to leave he made a short reply, “No problem, just don’t make it a habit.” With that the fiery mane creature took back to his roof hopping with Osiris’ now unnecessary weighted clothing.

Zorn stood idly by with his arms crossed after spouting off at Osiris about his silence. Osiris then replied that silence was just his way and that Zorn would have to deal with it because their was no point in a large amount of talking. Osiris also denounced some of Zorn's ideas about good and evil and told him to pay attention to the real world on how things really worked. Zorn was shocked by Osiris' response and how mature it was. Then Zorn thought that maybe he had been a little naive up to this point in his life, sheltered by the Saiyan way of life. Zorn knew that Osiris had seen and done things he himself had yet to do or understand. Perhaps he could learn as much from Osiris as Zorn thought he could teach Osiris.

Farren, the fiery beast, then appeared from a roof top, carrying a duffle bag in his mouth. He handed it to Osiris and Osiris removed a plate of shiney armor from it. He then strapped up the silver armor on his torso, then attached the new sword he had brought, surely the one Kenel spoke of as only ably used by Osiris, to his back at the ready. He was now a silver clad armored fighter, prepared for battle. Farren then took off, leaving the two warriors alone once again.

"I didn't mean to harp on you. I am sorry if I was out of line. I guess I am just not used to the silence, being from the Saiyan Army and all. I guess we both have a lot to learn about the universe and life. I apoligize if I have offended you. But lets just agree that we will communicate the best we can when we get into the thick of things, ok?"

Zorn looked at Osiris as the sunlight glinted and sparkled off of Osiris' new armor. It looked really good and very sturdy.

"Nice new armor. I might have to look into getting me a set of that soon. Looks very useful, but I wonder if it is as good or better than my Saiyan Armor? Perhaps later in our journey you could tell me how it works and what not."

Zorn then took a few steps over towards Osiris near the rock. He was interested in looking at the map. He didn't know much about the planet, but if he could look at the map and get the image entered into his scouter, perhaps it could help analyze it and give them a reference point to start at.

"Let me see that map Osiris. If I load the picture of the map into my scouter, it may be able to analyze it and give us some reference poitns of where to start or look. Just an idea, but it is worth a shot."

Osiris handed Zorn the map and he pushed the button on the scouter so it would scan. Once scanned, he handed the map back and began to run an analysis of the map through the scouter. The scouter did not immediately come up with any new data, but zorn had an idea. He sent the information on the map through the Saiyan Central Computer System to see if they had any information. It was worth a try.

"Okay, no new data directly from the scouter, but I sent the information through the Saiyan Central Computer System to run an analysis. Hopefully it gives us something to work of off. It will take a few hours. Perhaps we can just keep heading northwest until we get the analysis back. At least we have a general direction to head while we wait so we are not waisting any time. So lets head out."

“I wouldn’t trust too much in that device. I find it very unlikely that Saiyans would have much information concerning the Lost, especially considering this isn’t one of their planets. You should trust your instincts more,” Osiris spoke as he turned to face the north-west once more. The new armor under his cloak felt very natural. Still, the armor had yet to feel like it was truly his. The bright flashing silver was not his style. The metal was also flat and smooth without any etchings or markings that signified it as Osiris’ armor. Something would need to be done about this in a timely fashion.

Picking back up the large traveling pack with most of their supplies in it Osiris slung it over his shoulders. The half demon started running again with Zorn at his side. He planned to stop when the second sun rose. That kind of heat took some getting used to and it wouldn’t be wise to just keep running. After a while Osiris began to zone out, outing his body on autopilot. His mind drifted to what had transpired earlier that morning in his bedroom. A bit of frustration started to grow inside his mind.

Why does everything have to get complicated? There is no way to solve this situation without someone being pissed off or depressed. Mainly me! It isn’t like I can just pick one of them now and I don’t even want to. If I just keep ignoring them they are both going to be sad. Plus I have the feeling Farren will keep harping on me if I do that. No one to get advice from, not that there is really any advice to give. I should have been born a Namek.

The day wore on until both of the suns were raised into the sky. It was then that Osiris and Zorn decided to take their break for a mid deal meal. As Osiris ate he watched the Saiyan busily take apart and reassemble the breathing mask he wore. The entire time he had a grimace at the discomfort of breathing the harsh Cauldron air without any protection. Without saying a word Osiris reached into the pack of supplies he had been carrying and pulled out the extra mask he had bought just in case. He figured having parts from both masks would make creating a new apparatus easier. “Maybe your scouter will have blueprints for what you want to build.”

With his meal finished and his suggestion given Osiris wandered off to find a large stone with a flat top. Not more than twenty paces away her found what he was looking for. The boulder rose ten feet in height and was very irregular shaped. The top however hand been worn flat by the elements. Jumping slightly the half demon took a seat on the warm stone and shut his eyes. He built an image of a gallery in his mind and then placed his memories on display. Slowly he walked from frame to frame. Each one depicted a different memory. He froze coming across what he was hoping to find. In the picture of the memory he could see ruins and the surrounding landmarks that would give away it’s position. That’s it! I know where we are going!

Jumping off the rock he sprinted over to the Saiyan who was testing out a new breathing apparatuses he had just finished. Not taking the time to look at what Zorn had accomplished the half demon grabbed his things and got ready to got ready to go. “Finish up, I know where we are going now.” Osiris set off running knowing that Zorn could catch up with him. Another two hours passed as the scenery blew past them. There was no reason to go at an easy pace now that they knew where they we going. Sure enough the sparse ruins came into to view as the suns were descending towards the horizon. It was a small set of ruins having only a few small stone structures still just barely intact enough to be recognized as being built by sentient life.

Osiris told him not to rely on his Scouter so much and rely on his instincts.

"Yea...but a little extra information can't hurt us Osiris. You never know what kind of information the Saiyan Central Computer System might have with all of the traveling my race does. We will see what turns up."

Osiris then picked up his bag and began running again towards the northwest. Zorn quickly followed behind him, keeping pace as they crossed the fiery volcanic fields. As they ran, Osiris seemed almost like a robot, just coasting through the volcanic fields, expressionless and emotionless. Zorn wondered what he was thinking about as they ran side by side.

As the time passed, the two suns of Cauldron rose high into the sky. The heat of the day was now sweltering as heat waves rose from the surface of the planet. Osiris stopped to take a break and eat. The heat had stolen the Saiyan's appetite for the moment, so he took the time to dismantle his breathing apparatus and try assembling a new one. He took it off, which made breathing more difficult, and then dismantled it. Osiris watched him work, then handed Zorn another mask to use for parts and suggested he use his scouter to see if he could find a way to make a smaller breathing apparatus work. The demon then walked over and appeared to be meditating atop a rock.

After a little while, Zorn finally figured out a way to make the smaller breathing apparatus work. It looked like a mouth guard, fitting inside of the mouth, but still allowed the user to talk with it in unheeded. It was exactly what he needed. Just as he finished up and was packing up the remaining parts, Osiris came running towards him. He said he knew where they were going.

But how did he all of the sudden know where we were heading? Zorn didn't have time to ask questions or respond, for Osiris had grabbed his gear and was taking off at a lightning fast pace. Zorn finished stuffing the left over parts in his bag, slung it over his shoulders, and quickly took off to catch up with Osiris. He finally did after a few minutes.

As the suns began to descend towards the horizon, They reached a location with a few very old ruins. They were barely noticeable, but there were there, in the middle of the volcanic fields. There were only a few stone structures, but each of them had special markings on them. Zorn thought that they were surely made by the Lost Ones of this planet. Perhaps they have a correlation with the location we are looking for? Zorn studied the ruins carefully and noticed that there was a blank spot in the middle of some of the ruins.

"Osiris...take a look here. It seems as if there is a missing glyph here. I wonder...."

Zorn's voice faded out as he began clicking through his scouter and the programs it contained. He worked for a bit, taking pictures of the glyphs into his scouter and analyzing him. As he did, a response from the information about the map came back from the Saiyan Central Computer System.

"Nothing came back on the map from the Saiyan Central Computer System, but I have been importing the images of the glyphs.""

Zorn continued to manipulate and analyze the glyphs he had imported. Then it dawned on him. The Map! He quickly clicked his scouter and input the image of the map with the images of the glyphs. The data began to spill over the screen of his scouter.

"Holy shit! That's it! The glyphs on the map correlate with the glyphs on these ruins. Quick Osiris, I need the map."

Osiris took out the map and handed it to Zorn, who unrolled it making it flat. He then placed the flat map in the empty space of the ruins. The map almost instantly adhered itself to the ruin and began to glow. The magical map then showed the exact location in the northwest of the planet that they were looking for. It also showed the location of various other Lost Ones locations that were sparsely spread out all over Cauldron. It was exactly what they needed.

Zorn took several pictures of the map in that state with his scouter and analyzed that data from it. Zorn then cross referenced it with the existing map he had stored in his scouter. It seemed as if the location shown on the magical map was just on the edge of mountains in the northwest. This information that he was recording would make Kenel very happy and be extremely useful for her research. Finally, the map quit glowing and fell to the ground, where Zorn picked it up and handed it back to Osiris. The markings that were shown while attached to the ruins were now gone again. It was time to head out.

"According to my scouter, it looks like we are only about fifteen clicks away from the location we are looking for, according to the cross reference between the magical map and the current map of the planet. If we hustle, we can be there by night fall and get an early start tomorrow morning exploring the location. Lets head out."

They took off at their fastest pace of the day. Just as the second sun sunk below the horizon, the two warriors arrived at the exact location they were looking for, exactly where the magical map had said it would be. As they approached, Zorn's scouter went berserk as the power readings coming from the region. He followed the power readings to the mouth of a large cave. This must be the location that we were looking for. Whatever it is we have come to find, has to be at the bottom of this cave.

"My scouter is going crazy with the power readings coming from inside this cave! Whatever we are looking for and dealing with down there, we better be damn prepared for anything. I believe the best plan of attack would be to set up camp here for the night and then venture in early in the morning when we are both well rested. It would be risky to do it now after traveling all day in that heat. What do you think Osiris?"

Osiris said nothing when the two warriors had reached the ruins. They walked about for a while until coming across a slap of rock with small, ancient glyphs carved into it. Zorn seemed very excited as he took in the slap with great detail searching for any kind of clue. The Saiyan then suddenly exclaimed for the map and Osiris obliged without much consideration. Even as the marking both on the stone and the map began to glow when the two meant there was no real surprise. It was almost like Osiris had seen all of this before. Not exactly déjà vu, but more akin to a vague sense of a forgotten memory. The half demon snapped out of his trance as Zorn mentioned a new location.

This time the roles were reversed between Osiris and Zorn. The Saiyan was now the one who knew where they were heading and the half breed was following him. Osiris didn’t really care though. He felt off, very off. His left arm was tingling where the silvery runes he had acquired from his sword he now carried. A sense of both familiarity and foreboding made him uncomfortable. What was worse is that these sensations were increasing in intensity with each step they took towards their new destination. Somehow he knew it would be a cave. Being near a mountain range and with his dreams flashing images of a cave it was almost certain. Flying over the rock littered ground it wasn’t very long before they came to the side of the mountains and just has Osiris had thought a small cave mouth was open before them.

Zorn commented almost in a worried manner that his scouter indicated a rather large power level, maybe even multiple. The Saiyan mentioned it would be risky to go when they were tired from travelling, but still asked for Osiris’ opinion. “I think you are right, but we should move back a few clicks to put some distance between us and whatever is in the cave. Also I would like you to do something for me. Don’t send any of the data you collect on this trip to the Central Computer System you were talking about. No offense to you, but this is our journey and until we know what exactly is going on it would be unwise to share our information. Actually I would prefer we keep this just between people I know. No reason to be giving out information that could lead to powerful artifacts when we don’t even know who might use that information. Come on, I saw a rocky outcropping a little ways back, we can set up camp there.”

Traveling back about two clicks it was easy to find the handful of boulders setting close together. Using the rocks as a support Osiris threw a large canvas up as a makeshift tent. Without much conversation they both laid out their bed rolls and went to sleep after eating a small meal. Both of them kept a leery gaze towards the cave’s direction. The night past without incident, but the morning was a rude awakening. A decent sized earth quake jostled them awake just before dawn. Looking out from under the makeshift tent the warriors could see little flakes of ash falling from the sky like snow. “Don’t let it worry you this stuff happens all the time. Let’s get moving.”

After backing everything back up, they set off towards the cave once more. This time they only slowed to a walk as they entered the dark maw. The ceiling was low, just above their heads by a few inches. The space could have been claustrophobic had Osiris not been so use to crawling around caves. As they delved deeper into the darkness both of the warriors lifted and arm and used their ki to light the way. Surprisingly the tunnel began to get larger and larger as they made their way deeper into the mountainside. By time they were a mile into the mountain the tunnel was as big as a grand hall. Through the shadows a large wooden door appeared in front of the two warriors baring their way. Osiris froze in astonishment. It looked like the same doorway he had passed through when he found the dark orb that had been Myriads physical form before invading Osiris’ body. “What does your scouter say?”

Osiris agreed with Zorn's thoughts about getting a good nights rest before setting off into the powerful unknown of the cave mouth. Osiris also suggested that they removed themselves from close proximity for the night, for they did not know what kind of things could come from the cave in the middle of the night. Osiris also asked Zorn to do him a favor. He asked if the recordings and records Zorn was keeping with his scouter could be kept and limited to view of them and Osiris' friends. Mainly, he wanted to keep the information from the Saiyan Central Computer System and others from getting their hands on the power source that the Lost Ones may contain.

"Consider it done Osiris. You don't have to worry about a thing. The scouter only transmits what and when I want it to to the Saiyan Central Computer System. Besides, I already promised Kenel that she had first dibs on the data I collected on our journey."

Osiris nodded in what Zorn took as a small token of appreciation for the favor.

They moved back to a rock formation some ways away and constructed a makeshift tent for the night. From all the running and traveling, Zorn had no trouble falling asleep and sleeping soundly through out the entire night. It was a quiet night with nothing of great importance happening.

In the early morning hours, as the suns were starting their journey across the Cauldron sky, the ground that the two warriors slept on began to sake violently. Zorn jumped up from the ground, landing in his fighting stance. Osiris simply shrugged it off as an earthquake and said that it happened all the time. Zorn thought about it logically, realizing that it probably was just a result of all the seismic activity in the area. They packed up their makeshift camp and headed for the mouth of the cave.

The two warriors entered the cave, the initial tunnel not being any bigger than six feet tall and wide. The quarters were cramped and the moist cave air was musty and dank. The two warriors journeyed on deeper into the cave, using the glow of their ki to light the way. The further they got into the cave, the larger the tunnel opened up and allowed them to travel easier and unrestricted. Zorn was relieved that the tunnel had gotten bigger, as the small, cramped space as beginning to agitate him.

They continued on further before coming to something strange. A wooden door in the middle of the tunnel. This is the last damn place on this planet I would expect a door to be, but here we are. Zorn was past all the realms of the impossible during this journey and simply shrugged it off as another oddity. But then he noticed the reaction of Osiris. The demon warrior had frozen at the sight of the door, as if he had seen a ghost. But why did he react this way?

Osiris then asked Zorn what his scouter was reading about the door way. The small screen of the scouter Zorn wore was going crazy. Numbers rose and declined in milliseconds as the readings made no sense. It was as if some major energy force was messing with the magnetic field that helped run the scouter.

"This thing is going haywire. The readings are all over the place, sky rocketing up and then shooting back down just as fast. There is no one location behind the door for the scouter to focus on. It is more like just a jumbled source of energy coming from behind the door. But if I had to make an educated guess here Osiris, I would say that whatever is behind that door there, is the source of the reading I got last night on the planet's surface. We should proceed with caution."

Zorn tried to keep up with the readings, but they were only getting faster and more incomprehensible. He simply pushed the button on the side of the scouter which made the scouter go silent and cease its readings.

"What is our next move Osiris? I mean...shouldn't we at least have a look see what is behind the door? We didn't just come all this way to reach a wooden door with an extreme energy source on the other side just to turn around and go back did we?"

Zorn waited to hear if Osiris had a plan or if they were just going to wing it and take off through the door to see what was on the other side.

Zorn asked Osiris if he had a plan in mind, but the cloaked figure couldn’t think. Small tremors ran through his body as a mixture of emotions swirled through his being. A part of the half demon was anxious to make a new discovery, another part of him was enraged at the thought of another foul entity like Myriad possibly existing, yet another portion of him was power hungry and didn’t care where the energy source was coming from. There was one emotion that stood above all the rest though. Fear. It was not that he was afraid for his own safety, but that of Zorn. Osiris knew that bad things happened from time to time. He knew this fact so well he had numbed himself from the pain most situations caused. This, however, was different. The young half breed could not live with himself if he allowed someone of a kind heart be consumed by the kind of turmoil the Myriad had afflicted upon him.

Osiris took a deep breath knowing that there was no backing out at this point. “We will go in, carefully. Neither one of us will touch anything until we know what is going on. Also watch where you step. The last thing we need is to set off some kind of trap. Most importantly though, should we find something too powerful for either one of us to handle, then we run and collapse the tunnel behind us. Whatever kind of threat lay behind this door ends today, one way or another.”

The Saiyan nodded to the slightly shorter demon-kin. Each one of them put a shoulder against the two huge wooden doors and pushed, hard. The creaking sound of ancient hinges echoed through the tunnel as a blast of cool air came out from the newly opened doors. Behind the gateway there was a vastly different world. Rather than the roughly cut volcanic rock of the previous tunnel this new room was completely made of polished marble. Statues of various different life forms were embedded into the walls on either side of what looked to be a walkway. A soft light seemed to emanate from every surface even though there was no indication of any true source. The whole place was eerily unnatural.

This place feels like a tome, a prison, and a royal palace all at the same time.

With the sound of boots hitting well polished stone the two warriors began to make their way down the hundred foot corridor. As they walked Osiris couldn’t shake the feeling the statues were watching him. When they reached the archway at the other end of the chamber a thunderous boom startled the half demon. Wiping around he saw the huge wooden doors had closed by themselves, “Guess that means we aren’t leaving anytime soon.”

Turning back towards the archway there was a short ten foot passage way, but Osiris could not see what was on the other side. The only thing to see was shining light glaring against eyes that had become accustom to the dark. Figuring there was nowhere else to go Osiris started walking forward again. Shielding his eyes he stepped into an immensely bright room and was momentarily blinded. When his vision returned the half demon grabbed at the hilt of his sword and took a defensive position. Osiris was ready to draw his blade against what he perceived as possible enemies.

A crimson red carpet laid on the ground and lead across a large room and then up a tiered platform. On either side of the carpet kneeled a good number of warriors. Six were clad in pure white plate armor and the other six were clad in black plate armor. Nothing could be seen of what the knight looked like under their protection, or even if they were actually living creatures for none of them moved in the slightest. They could have been no more alive than the three pillars that stood on both sides of the path connecting the ceiling with the floor.

Osiris followed the crimson carpet with his eyes across the room up the tiered pyramid like structure and finally came to rest his eyes on a throne of black stone. Osiris was struck by overwhelming awe by what or rather who he saw sitting on the throne. The figure that sat there could only be described as a full blooded demon. There were many great horns amid long blonde hair that put Osiris’ to shame. Wicked crimson and black armor covered skin of a carmine hue. A poleax unlike anything Osiris had seen before was clenched in a firm fist. The demon stood revealing its body to be strong and lithe in appearance. Wings unfolded and stretched out on either side as though it had been a long time since they last moved. The wingspan seemed extraordinary considering the demon looked to be only five foot ten inches. What was most astonishing though was the unbelievable beauty the creature held.

Dropping his hand away from his sword Osiris let down his guard. The half breed’s heart pounded like it was trying to escape his chest and his palms became slick with slight layer of sweat. All the fear he had held in his heart before opening the great wooden doors slipped away as if it never existed. Everything fled from Osiris’ mind and his entire focus was on this new strange and frightening woman. The cloaked warrior found himself whispering, “Who are you?”

“My name is Princess Naamah. Why have you brought a Saiyan with you Osiris? Is he your vassal?” The woman’s voice was feminine but very strong and authoritative. Her glowing golden eyes stared into Osiris’ as if she was searching for the very depths of his soul.

What? How does she know my name? Why does her name sound so familiar?

“No, he is not my vassal. This is Zorn, my training partner. How do you know my name, Princess?” Osiris hid his growing infatuation under a listless, but polite response. He tried to spare a glance towards the Saiyan standing next to him to see how he was doing. Unfortunately, Osiris could not move his eyes away from Naamah.

“Training partner, interesting. I guess the Saiyans have been known to produce excellent warriors from time to time. Your mother told me your name long before you were ever born. I forget how many hundreds of years it has been. Tell me, why are you not in your true form?”

Osiris knitted his eyebrows together in confusion, “What do you mean my true form? I have always looked like this. Wait, you knew my mother! What is going on?! The half demon couldn’t conceal the growing excitement and frustration he was feeling.

Naamah’s eyes widened in surprise, “You mean to tell me you haven’t gone through any of your transformations! That means you have not learned how to wear your father’s crown either. Do you even know who you are Osiris?”

For once in his life Osiris actually felt embarrassed to answer a question, “Look I just came here to find one of the Lost One’s relics to help me get stronger. If you know something about me, than just spit it out!”

Even at the rather large distance Osiris’ sharp eyes could detect a hint of moister glisten down a red hued cheek. “After all this time, you come here and mock me with your ignorance. After all this waiting you get my hopes up just to come here unprepared. How dare you toy with me Osiris!”

What the hell is she talking about?

A red streaking blur came flying at Osiris. Before he could understand what was going on a carmine hand wrapped around his throat and picked him up off his feet. The half breed clutched at an armored forearm trying to ease the grip around his neck. “Guardsman! Make sure the Saiyan doesn’t interfere! Naamah turned and flew back towards the throne only to stop short slamming a helpless Osiris into the tiered steps.

Osiris had laid out the plan, that they would investigate very carefully and get the hell out if anything went down the two of them couldn't handle. Zorn simply nodded in agreement, preparing himself silently for what could follow, and helped Osiris push open the large wooden doors. What he saw next was unlike anything he imagined. The room beyond the large wooden doors was like a palace. Their boots clicked as they walked on the marble floors and passed numerous statues of various life forms. Suddenly, the large wooden doors they had entered slammed shut behind them, closing them in. Now they would have to deal with whatever it was that was down there, but there would be a very slim chance of escape now as the doors were extremely heavy. They then passed through a brightly lit doorway into what seemed to be a throne room of some sort. On either side of a red carpet that ran through the middle of the room were what looked like armored statues, their race unknown. But the important vision in the room was the female demon that sat atop a black thrown.

She was unlike anything that Zorn had ever seen, even more of a demon appearance than the one that Osiris contained. She was gorgeous, with long locks of blond hair and carmine hue skin. Numerous horns flowed naturally from her head and huge wings extended from her back. Both fighters were in awe as they stood prepared for a fight. Zorn glanced at Osiris who seemed more shocked at the appearance of the woman demon that Zorn was. But Osiris then relaxed his stance and asked the demon woman who she was. She replied that she was Princess Naamah. Osiris and the Princess continued talking back and forth as Zorn followed along silently.

The Princess spoke of Osiris' mother, his transformations, and his father. Osiris seemed dazed and confused as the information that Princess Naamah was telling him. It seemed to Zorn that the Princess knew more about Osiris than Osiris knew about himself. It seemed that the less Osiris knew about himself, the more enraged the Princess became. Finally, she lashed out, moving quickly across the room and grabbed Zorn by the throat. Princess Naamah yelled to unknown guardsman to make sure that Zorn did not interfere before she pulled Osiris back to the thrown area. She had moved so quickly that Zorn did not even have time to react, only being able to lower himself into a ready stance.

Giving chase, Zorn moved quickly to try and reach the throne to help Osiris, but before he could reach him, the two armored statues from either side of the red carpet, closest to the thrown came to life. They stepped in front of the throne, keeping Zorn from reaching the throne in time to help Osiris. Osiris was now on his own with the Princess as Zorn had his own issues to deal with in the two armored soldiers that now stood in front of him.

Zorn took a few steps backwards to create some space between him and the soldiers. As he moved back, the two soldiers proceeded to follow him. Reacting quickly, Zorn fired a Mesposo at each of the soldiers. The small beams moved fast and connected with the soldiers but did not even stun them at all. They just continued to move forward towards Zorn. This time, Zorn charged the Mesposos and fired them, but the same result ensued. Zorn continued to back up.

The two armored warriors then disappeared. Zorn shifted his eyes about trying to see where they had gone to, but was unable to locate them. They then showed up right behind him, Zorn completely unaware of their location. The two guardsmen then proceeded to attack Zorn, one kicking high and the other kicking low, flipping Zorn off his feet and landing hard on the ground. One warrior then delivered a hard kick into Zorn's ribs that sent him flying across the room where the other warrior now stood. There a hard spinning kick connected with Zorn's back, sending him head first in the direction he had just come from.

The two guardsmen proceeded to batter Zorn back and forth like a vicious version of volleyball, in which case Zorn was the ball. By the time Zorn had any chance to recover in between blows, it was too late. The next blow was being delivered and the process began all over again. The mixed their attacks up, sometimes using kicks, other times using punches, and mixing in all kinds of different physical attacks that bruised and maligned Zorn's body. After one brutal ax handled punch, the two warriors let Zorn go crashing into a wall and drop to the floor motionless.

The guardsmen were strong with what seemed like a never ending supply of strength and power. They had tossed Zorn around like a rag doll who had a power level of ten. The Saiyan warrior laid there on the floor of the throne room motionless as the two guardsmen stood and watched at him. But like the prideful Saiyan he was, Zorn began to move slowly in an attempt to get to his feet. His arms and legs trembled in pain as he rose up off the ground and got to his feet. He stood, looking at the two guardsmen, with blood running from under both of his eyes and from the corners of his mouth. He wiped his mouth of blood and grinned at the guardsmen.

”You are tough, but you will have to do better than that to keep this Saiyan down.”

With that, Zorn screamed loudly as he powered up, his custom red and black aura flaring up around his body. His power level spiked as he reached his maximum and he pushed on into battle, attacking the two guardsmen. He fired a series of physical attacks at the two, who dodged and countered every move Zorn made, even with his incredible speed. This cat and mouse game went back and forth between Zorn and the two warriors for a few minutes before finally the warriors out last Zorn and both connected with punches to Zorn's midsection.

They drove him backwards into the wall once more and began taking turns pummeling him. Zorn crossed his arms in front of him to block or at least deflect some of the physical attacks but it was useless. When they stopped, Zorn slouched down to the ground, once again drained by the beating. These guardsmen were not messing around and took care of business. One reached down and grabbed Zorn by his hair, throwing him into the corner where he once again sat down. Zorn was unable to move, but he could already feel his body beginning to repair itself in quick fashion, as Saiyans were prone to do. It is what helped make them be such good warriors.

The two guardsmen returned to their original statuesque positions on either side of the red carpet. At the moment, all Zorn could do was wait idly by in the corner, watching what was about to happen to Osiris and regain his strength as best he could. He would need a bold strategy to defeat the guardsmen, but perhaps their next exchange would be one on one and not two on one as before. In that manner, Zorn would have a better shot of winning and taking them down one at a time.

Being slammed down into the stone steps knocked the wind from Osiris’ lungs and with at tight grasp closing off his windpipe, there was no way to recover. Desperately he tried to pull Naamah’s hand off his throat while kicking her savagely in the gut. For all his efforts he got thrown through the air like a ragdoll. Osiris caught his breath just in time to have it rip from him yet again as he ricocheted off a marble pillar and landed face down on the polished stone floors. Blood seeped out of a gash on the back of his head. Choking for air the half breed got himself up onto his hands and knees trying to stand once more. His attempt was cut short by a foot slamming into his chest which lifted him up off the ground and smacking back into the marble pillar. Before his feet could come down far enough to touch the ground the long handle to Naamah’s poleax was pushed under his chin, pinning Osiris against the cold stone column.

The demonic woman brought her face close to Osiris’, “Do you have any idea what it is like to toil and train and prepare for your whole life to be with someone and not even get a say about who that someone will be? All the while everyone around you is encouraging you by saying how strong and intelligent the prince will be when he grows up. That was a good three hundred years before you were even born! Then after years of managing this court after your father’s death and your mother’s disappearance you finally show up, a weakling!”

Osiris pushed back on the weapon’s shaft enough to steal a few breaths of much needed air. Glancing over to the corner he could see Zorn lying motionless and bloodied. Confusion and frustration turned into roiling outrage at this unprovoked attack. Through a constricted windpipe the half breed sputtered his words, “For woman that seems to know so much about me, can you explain why I had to grow up as a slave? Or are you too busy pissing and moaning about how bad I turned out after seventeen years compared to your like what? Five-hundred years? Do not fucking complain to me about a hard life!” Osiris spit the blood collecting in his mouth straight into Naamah’s face.

The half breeds little stunt only seemed to further the Prince’s anger as she let him drop onto his own, only to begin throwing knee strikes into his gut. Time after time it felt like a jackhammer was trying to split his spin by going through his stomach. The new silver armor he had gotten seemed to fail against such devastating impacts. Finally it stopped and Osiris doubled over in pain. For a few seconds there was a lull in the beating that made it seem like maybe it was over. Unfortunately, it was not. A fist smashed the back of Osiris’ head pushing him face first into the ground. Two hands picked him up by the shoulders and again he was staring into Naamah’s face. Her poleax floated in mid air at her side free from any need of support. That’s a neat trick.

Suddenly the two were fly in the air and then flipped as the Princess planted her feet on the ceiling and then pushed off with great force. Just before reaching the ground Naamah spun and threw Osiris sending him even faster to the floor. Landing on his back the half breed bounced off the hard stone two feet into the air. At the height of this rebound Naamah drove a heel into his chest and forced him to the ground even harder than the first impact. As Osiris laid there his attacker gently floated back to the black stone throne and took a seat with a hand covering her eyes.

After several minutes of nearly hyperventilating the color spots started to disappear from Osiris’ vision. The threat of blacking out had passed, but the threat of dying still seemed very real. Rolling over to his side he slowly dragged himself off the floor and up to his own two feet. Pain throbbed through every fiber of his being and in the silence Osiris could hear nothing but the furious pounding of his own heart beat. His breath was ragged and the vision in his left eye was severely blurred by blood that had dripped into it. For the second time he found himself asking the same simple question in another complicated situation that involved a woman. “What do you want from me?” His voice was horse like that of a man dying from thirst.

Naamah looked up at him with shock etched into her carmine hued face. She parted her lips several time to speak, but then shut them before breaking the silence. As more and more time passed by it was becoming more and more evident to Osiris that no one had probably ever asked her that before. Considering how rigorous the obligations of her position seemed to be it was more likely that she had always been the one asking such a question. As more time passed the anger seemed to slip away for the Princess’s face. “I don’t know anymore.”

Osiris stood there staring in disbelief. Shaking his head he looked back towards Zorn and saw him stirring and gathering himself back up to stand much in the same way Osiris had. A nearby guard noticed the Saiyan rise to his feet and started moving towards him. The half breed rushed at the armored figure and swung a hard round house kick towards the warrior. Before ever landing his blow a hand had caught his shin. While holding his leg the armored warrior spun and threw Osiris back the way he came. As he fell through the he resigned himself to smacking against the stone floor once more. There was no energy left to avoid it. He was startled when instead of hitting the ground it felt like someone had caught him. Looking back over his shoulder he saw Naamah, the same woman that had just been beating him to a pulp. “That’s enough. Cleric, come, we have two for you to heal.

From a doorway behind the throne an old woman in pure with robes came walking out. That’s the same old woman that gave me the map! Osiris had the strong feeling he was being played as a pawn and was determined to voice his objections. “YOU!” The half breed was about to try and piece everything together when the mysterious old woman waved her hand and put him into a deep sleep.

Naamah looked towards the healer disgruntled, “Why did he recognize you?” The demonic woman gently laid Osiris’ head down on the ground and then stood to look the old woman in the eyes.

“I may have given him the map that lead these two here. I thought it would be good for you to meet your fiancée more than once before you married him. I didn’t realize you would nearly beat the poor kid to death. I thought you would want to help him out. Establish some kind of bound between the two of you. Instead the first impression you give him is that you are a complete psycho! Is that anyway to start a relationship?” The tone of familiarity the old woman spoke to the Princess almost made it seem like she was her mother.

If Naamah’s skin was not already a deep shade of red one could see her blush greatly. I am just tired of waiting and he is not what everyone told me he would be.

“Well of course he isn’t! The Prince is only seventeen years old. He still needs time to grow. Be patient, I sense it will only take a few more years for him to understand who and what he truly is. Now might I suggest sending these two to the Chamber of Proof? That way they can gain something from this trip other than the beating of their lifetime. The items they could win should they defeat the creatures should help both of them greatly. Don’t you think?” Naamah nodded her head in agreement still clearly embarrassed by her rash actions. The old cleric than looked over towards the corner where Zorn stood, “Oops, forgot to put that one to sleep.” Again she waved her hand, this time at the battered Saiyan.

When Osiris woke up he was laying on a dirty rock floor inside a circular cave roughly cut from volcanic rock. Several doors lined the walls, each one of them made of heavy iron. Zorn was already standing on his feet looking around. A silver plaque above the smallest door read, “You may leave when you have proven your worth.” Brushing himself off the half breed stood and realized he was completely uninjured from the fight he had just partaken in. Looking towards his traveling partner Osiris questioned him, “I don’t suppose you have any idea what the hell is going on?”

After having recovered somewhat and watching Osiris get tossed around by Naamah, Zorn rose to his feet wearily. Just as he did, he could see Osiris making his way to his feet, but the demon half breed did not look too stable. But then, surprisingly, Naamah called for a cleric to come heal Osiris and Zorn. The tables had completely turned in their favor. Now instead of the being attacked, they were going to be receiving treatment. Zorn was having a hard time seeing and hearing as he was dizzy and trying to keep himself standing. He could tell that two women were talking in the throne room, one clearly Naamah, the other he did not know. Then there was darkness. He was in a deep state of sleep in an instant.

Zorn's dreams ran rampant through his mind as their were dreams of him battling massive amounts of opponents who swarmed him. He would fight his way through them before becoming overwhelmed and then unleash massive amounts of energy, spraying his opponents away and continuing the fight. But then the dream was over and Zorn awoke from his dream. He was laying on his back when he came to, staring up at a rocky ceiling. He stood and looked down on a still unconscious Osiris. Zorn looked around at the numerous large steely doors that lined the walls of the cavern. There was a plaque that said, “You may leave when you have proven your worth.”

As Zorn finished looking around, Osiris awoke and looked up at him asking if he knew what was going on.

”I have no idea Osiris, but if that plaque there means anything, we might be in for a fight here really soon.”

Osiris rose to his feet and then a voice came over the loud speaker. It was the other voice that Zorn had heard right before he went to sleep. It must have been the voice of the cleric.

”In this chamber, you will be tested against opponents who are quite strong and could very well kill you if you are not careful. Each of you will have your own opponent. If you win, you get to leave. Otherwise, you will die. Good luck, you will need it.”

The speaker cut out and one of the large steel doors opened, only darkness behind it. Then a pair of blood red eyes appeared in the darkness. The two fighters stood there and watched as a large, ugly created lumbered out of the darkness on all fours. It was an ugly pink creature with a large head, its long tongue hanging out of a mouth that bared many sharp, pointy teeth that were like razor blades. The creature was rather large, twice the size of Zorn and Osiris. It stopped, looked at the two fighters and then moved its head back and forth like it was trying to decide which one of the two fighters it would be fighting. Zorn decided not to give the creature the decision. He stepped forward with a body language of confidence and supreme control over the situation.

”I got this one,” Zorn said as he walked forward a few paces towards the beast and assumed a fighting stance.

The creature's head stopped and looked directly at Zorn, now knowing that he was his opponent. Zorn showed no signs of backing down or fear, his Saiyan pride emanating from his body. Zorn flared out his red and black aura, giving a bright glow to the scene as he increased his power level before maxing it out. He felt like the episode with the two guardsmen had never happened.

The beast was prepared for battle, probably the only thing that the beast had ever known in its existence. Its tongue now moved wildly back and forth, getting longer and longer, drool and saliva dripping from its mouth like a hungry dog. The fight was ready to begin.

Zorn waited to see what the beasts first move would be, as he wanted to gauge the creature's speed and power, for the power levels from inside the cave were still causing his scouter to go haywire with rapidly changing numbers. Zorn was unsure what to expect from the beast. He knew one thing for sure though. This would be a worthy fight based on the quote on the plaque and what the old lady over the intercom had said.

The beast's long tongue lashed out towards Zorn, flying across the chamber and wrapping around Zorn's ankle before he could even flinch. The tongue ripped Zorn right off his feet, his back slamming into the ground of the chamber hard. Zorn looked up at the roof of the chamber to see the beast flying through the air, descending down on top of him. The beast landed with all four of his feet together directly on Zorn's stomach, jackknifing the warrior's body. The best then put his feet on the ground, straddling the motionless body of Zorn. Zorn stared up at the beast, breathing hard, as the beast lowered his head. A loud growl roared from the throat of the beast as he bared his saliva covered teeth to Zorn.

The pink beast raised its head high to throw his head downward in a biting motion. As it did, Zorn pulled his legs up to his chest and kicked upward into the chest of the beast, sending it flying towards the ceiling of the chamber. Zorn quickly got to his feet and jumped upwards, following the beast. Just as the beast reached the ceiling of the chamber, Zorn caught up to him with, leading with his two fists which sandwiched the beast with bone crushing force. Zorn fell back to the ground, landing on his feet. Surprisingly to Zorn, the long tongued beast did the same thing. They stood their, staring one another down sternly.

Running quickly, the beast took off after Zorn who was running in different directions in an attempt to turn the tables on the pink beast. The beast was fast with great speed and even better agility. Its speed and agility eclipsed, if not completely surpassed that of Zorn's. He now hoped that he could rely on the beast being dumb and easily out maneuvered. It would take a process though. Zorn continued to run with the beast chasing him. Zorn reached the far wall of the chamber and took off into the air, flying upwards. The beast simply adjusted by planting his feet on the wall and jumping off the wall towards Zorn. It caught Zorn off guard and the beast tackled Zorn to the ground.

The two fighters hit the ground and rolled, Zorn throwing punches into the midsection of the beast at will, but the beast was hardly affected. The two finally rolled to a stop with Zorn on top this time, but the beast had wrapped its long fingers around the ankles and wrists of Zorn. The beast's clasp of Zorn's limbs kept him immobile even though he struggled hard against the beast's grip. Unable to move, Zorn was now susceptible to attack from the beast's long, nasty tongue. The beast bared his teeth once again at Zorn, almost with an beastly, evil grin. It's tongue slithered from between its teeth and wrapped two or three times around Zorn's neck.

The grip of the beast's tongue clamped down around Zorn's neck, cutting off his air way partially, making it hard for the Saiyan warrior to breathe. He had to find a way out of his predicament and fast. A startling occurrence made his current situation much more pressing. Ki began flowing through the beast's tongue, burning the skin of Zorn's neck. Zorn decided that he needed to try something to change his current situation. He began to raise his power level, grunting as he fought for air to fuel his body. The ki ran through the veins and the muscles in his body. He tightened the muscles in his neck, which stretched the beast's tongue slightly, allowing him to breath more freely. It was now or never.

Zorn screamed loudly, releasing a Kiai, which forcefully pushed the beast down into the chamber's floor, creating a small crater. The beast screeched in pain from the loud noise of the Kiai. The beast's tongue retracted into its mouth and it violently threw Zorn away.

Zorn hit the chamber wall and fell to the ground, but quickly got to his feet to look over at the beast. It was now shaking it's head, gathering its bearings. When it had, it whipped its head towards Zorn and began charging quickly again after him. Zorn once again took off, running from the beast. It was not a run of cowardice, but a set up run. Zorn had a plan, but he had to test it first to see if it might work. Once again, Zorn ran to the far wall of the chamber and then flew upwards. As before, the beast leaped off the chamber wall and into the, flying high towards the ceiling and Zorn. This time Zorn dropped to the floor before being tackled by the beast. Once the two hit the ground again, Zorn ran through the same process once more with the same result.

Now Zorn was ready. He had the plan in his mind and he thought he had set up his opponent perfectly to beat him. Zorn stared at the beast who licked his lips at Zorn. Zorn waved at the beast to attack him, but the beast took no heed to the wave, but rather just stared. Zorn raised his hand once more, this time firing a speedy Mesposo at the beast, which struck the it squarely. After the hit, the beast growled loudly in anger and charged at Zorn quickly.

”That's a good bitch,” Zorn said as he turned to run once more at the far wall.

Zorn repeated running at the wall before flying up at the ceiling. This time he flew to the highest point of ceiling and then let himself down towards the floor. This small movement towards the floor made the beast jump at a lower position than Zorn actually was. Zorn caught himself and flew high, above the aimed location of the beast. When the beast reached the location where he thought Zorn would be, Zorn delivered a hard back flip kick that sent the beast head first into the chamber floor.

Zorn situated his body, held both palms out flat, downward, pointed at the beast who laid motionless looking up at the Saiyan warrior above him. Massive amounts of ki flowed through Zorn's body, funneling into his arms as it built up in his fingers and hands. His attack was ready to be unleashed upon the long tongued beast.

”Flash Bomb.....SHOTGUN!” Zorn screamed loudly.

In a close pattern about eight feet wide, thousands of small ki blasts shot out of Zorn's palms and began pummeling the beast into the chamber floor. Zorn could see the blasts making contact with the beast before dust filled the air around the beast. The red ki blasts continued to appear out of Zorn's palms as he wanted to be sure this would be the end of the beast. No surprises in this fight. It would be done right now.

Finally, Zorn stopped firing the blasts and lowered his palms. His breathing was slightly rapid in pace as his chest moved in and out more than normal. The dust still cluttered the air, but Zorn kept his guard up just in case by some miracle the beast had escaped the wrath of Zorn's Flash Bomb Shotgun. His eyes moved around the chamber searching until finally the dust cloud dissipated. There, laying at the bottom of a small crater, was the body of the beast. Zorn lowered himself next to beast's body.

The blasts had shot holes through the body of the beast, but surprisingly, Zorn saw faint breaths of life in the body of the beast. Zorn knelt down next to the head of the beast and put his right index finger to the temple of the beast.

”Time to say good bye.”

Zorn fired a quick One Finger Blast that ripped through the skull of the beast, stealing the rest of the life out of the pink beast. The blast had caused some blood spatter to spray over Zorn's gear, but the Saiyan could care less. He took it as a sign of a successful battle. With a crazed, adrenaline enhanced facial expression, the Saiyan stood and turned towards Osiris who had just watched the Zorn down the beast. Zorn walked over to him and held out a right fist about stomach high for Osiris to bump his own fist against.

”Your turn to do some damage Osiris. Go get your trophy.”

“Your turn to do some damage, Osiris. Go get your trophy,” Zorn spoke enthusiastically with a wide grin across his face. Blood was splattered across the front of his clothing, but he didn’t seem to care. The Saiyan extended a fist at about stomach high and left it there looking at Osiris expectantly. Not knowing what else to the half demon raised his own fist mimicking the other warrior’s movements and bumped the two fists together. Weird, I wonder if that is some kind of Saiyan tradition after a battle? Seems a bit early to be celebrating, but I guess I don’t want to offend the guy. Osiris shrugged his shoulders at the thought and walked out to the middle of the room to await his own opponent.

It was not long before another one of the large iron doors lifted up and unleashed the next monstrosity. Osiris hopped up and down on his toes a few times to loosen his muscles before coming into a firm defensive stance. The half demon’s eyes stared intensely into the darkness so hard it felt like the darkness was staring back into him. He quickly shook the feeling from his head and looked back up to find his foe emerging from the dark. As the creature emerged Osiris carefully pulled the long blade off his back. The pure white metal curved back and forth like a serpent moving in for the kill. A familiar presence could be felt washing over his body as the soul bound within the blade reached out to connect with Osiris. Taking a deep breath the half demon powered up creating a dark purple outline of Ki around his body. Now, he was prepared.

The creature that stepped out from the darkness was in a word, unnatural. Its body was not very large and mostly round in shape. At the center of the body was a large gapping maw with several rows of needle like teeth. Above the mouth were two beady, pure black eyes. From the maw itself dripped liquid flames that shifted from color to color. From the torso-head combination extended four gangly limbs. The hands and feet at the end of each appendage were impossibly large. Each one was just as large as the body itself. Each of the fingers alone was a foot long and ended in sharp nails which seemed to weep the same liquid fire as the maw. To make the whole monstrosity even more unnatural, the clammy skin that covered the creature was a pale blue with darker blotches here and there.

Osiris stared at the creature unflinching. This thing doesn’t even look like it could fight. How can it move its hands and feet when it is so thin? It doesn’t matter. I’m going to chop this thing to pieces and get the hell out of here. Suddenly the blue creature let out a deafening screech that echoed through the large cavern like room. Osiris grit his teeth trying to resist the urge to clamp his hands over his ears. In that moment the monstrosity saw an opening and propelled itself across the room to much faster than its gangly limbs should have allowed. A large hand closed around Osiris’ stomach and threw him a good hundred feet straight into a wall.

Bouncing off the wall the warrior kept himself from falling to the floor. Osiris sneered in disgust at having his guard broken so easily by such a creature. Gripping his blade tightly the half breed charged at the blue fiend which was hissing at him like some deranged lizard. A great gout of flame erupted from the creature’s maw without warning. Osiris’ eyes widened in surprise as he jumped sideways trying to avoid the fountain of fire. Still, the edge of his cloak was caught by the strange attack. Looking down he could see strange multi colored fire spreading rapidly. Ripping of his garment Osiris threw ti to the ground and watched as cloth was quickly consumed in a torrent of colors.

Frustration coursed through the half demon. Not only had this unnatural beast insulted his abilities, but it had also destroyed his last cloak he had. This time Osiris charged in a little differently. Rather than running in a straight line he bounced back and forth in a zigzag pattern. The blue creature swiped its huge hand at the warrior leaving five small streaks of flame in the path of its sharp nails. Osiris turned and met the creature’s wrist with his blade. The large hand flipped through the air after being severed from its previous owner. Thinking he had won the swordsman lifted his blade high ready to deliver the killing blow. Just then something exploded sending him sprawling to the ground and knocking the sword out of his hand.

Before the half demon could get to his feet he was picked up with crushing force pressing on his ribs. The blue monstrosity was clutching him by the torso with the one hand it had left. Osiris twisted back and forth trying to get free with no success. Looking around the room he could see his sword laying a few paces away and where the severed had once lain was a small crater. Great this thing is going to blow up when I kill it! Glancing back at the monster squeezing the air from his lungs he saw something that concerned him greatly. Multi colored lights were starting to emanate deep within the creature’s maw. “Shit!” Osiris grabbed the large thumb and forefinger warped around him and condensed his Ki into needles and let them loose to pierce and burn muscle and nerve tissue.

Osiris dropped to the ground as the blue monster screeched in agony from his attack. Hitting the ground the half demon dove and rolled into the crater that Zorn had left after his fight. Multi colored flame chased him as he rolled and then flew over the top of his head as he ducked down into the hole. Blood stained his pant legs as he was forced to kneel down in the remains of the formally menacing creature. At that point Osiris wished that he had gone first. Even if the blue creature was only half the size as the pink one, at least Zorn’s opponent hadn’t blown up or started breathing weird fire. Why do I always get stuck with the freaks?

The flames over head suddenly stopped giving the warrior the chance to launch himself up out of the crater. Flipping in mid air he planted his feet firmly on the ceiling and then drove back down towards the blue fiend. Ki poured into a fist and Osiris used it to throw a savage Blast Punch directly on top of the monster. He felt bone give way under the blow as his opponent’s legs buckled and it crashed into the floor with a loud thud. Touching his feet back to the ground the half demon made a move for his sword. A large foot came flying out of seemingly nowhere blindsiding Osiris. He was slammed down to the ground hard enough to make his head bounce off the stone floor.

A gapping maw came straight at the warrior’s right arm attempting to pierce flesh with grotesque teeth. Instinctively Osiris raised his arm in defense and a part of his mind seemed to reach out and call to his sword. Something very fortunate and something very strange happened in that next moment. The needle like teeth of the maw cracked and chipped on the warrior’s metal bracer causing it to reel in pain. At the same time the white blade picked itself off the ground and went fly into its master’s hand.

Flipping up the half demon kicked the blue creature viciously sending it flying into Zorn’s crater. Jumping over the crater to the other side of the room Osiris threw his newly recovered blade into the monster. The white metal ran its way through the blue fiend so hard it was pinned into the ground. Landing on the other side of the battle area the warrior turned to see rainbow colored building higher and higher out of the crater dancing around the white sword. “I know your name now. I know how to call you now. Come to me, Zar’rok!” The blade immediately sprung to life pulling up out of the rapidly disintegrating body and returning to its rightful place in Osiris’ grasp. The hilt was still hot from the flames, but he didn’t care. The sensation of being in tuned with his weapon was something the swordsman had not experienced before. It was exhilarating

A huge explosion rocked the cavern as the body of dead fiend combusted into a pillar of multi colored flames. Osiris had to turn away and shield his face from the intense light. After what seemed like a full minute passed the violent light finally began to fade away. It was then that the voice over the loud speaker came back. “Well done. That display of skill is exactly what we expect to see from the prince and those he keeps in his company. I am also pleased you found a blade worthy of your status.”

Osiris was tired of being spoken to about things he didn’t understand. He knew he was no prince. That wasn’t even in his realm of possibilities. “Listen, I have no idea what you people keep going on about! So either explain what it is you seem to think you know about me or let us out of here. We have wasted enough time with not getting any answers!”

The door with the plaque over it swung open on by its own power. “In good time child. Everything will become clear to you when the time is right. For now you and your companion can collect your reward in the antechamber and make your way back home. Do not try to seek this place out again. Even with the map I gave you there will be no way for you to find us. This realm is not like yours. You may only find it when someone here wants you to, and that is not the case anymore. Be on your way and use your new equipment wisely.” The voice cut out then leaving the room in silence.

Frustrated and unsatisfied Osiris stormed out of the battling area into the antechamber. There he found a small desktop up against a wall. Resting there was a book and a pure white cloak. Naturally the half demon went to pick up the cloak. As he lifted it up off the table a small drop of blood dripped off his chin staining the cloth. During the battle his nose must have started bleeding, but with all the adrenaline he was just now noticing it. Staring at the cloak he watch the crimson blood stain begin to spread slowly at first, but then moving faster and faster. Within seconds the whole thing was a deep shimmering red. Well, that isn’t very practical. The cloth pulsed like a heartbeat and immediately turned midnight black. Osiris nodded his head in approval.

Turning to Zorn he regained his composer and spoke, “I think we should just leave. We got what we came here for and I don’t really feel like finding our way back to that throne room. Besides I want to get back to Iron Mountain and check on the Saoirsen. It has been a while since I have seen them with my own eyes. I don’t want them to think I have abandoned them.” The Saiyan seemed to understand and even commented on how he wanted to meet Osiris’ people. So with that they started walking down a long stretch of tunnel.

The half demon got a strange sensation as they walked down the monotone passageway. He couldn’t quite describe it, but something certainly felt off. Only minutes after this thought crossed his mind the tunnel ended. They were up a ways on a mountain ridge. There was no way to tell where that mountain ridge actually was though. Land markers were hard to find on Cauldron. The truly remarkable thing though, was that the suns had not moved from their low early morning position they had been in before they left to explore the underground.

A sudden train of thought slammed into Osiris’ mind like a brick thrown through a window, except they weren’t his thoughts. Farren’s frantic voice startled the half demon, “Osiris! Where have you been! I haven’t been able to touch reach your mind for a whole day. We need you are iron Mountain NOW! The syndicates found out where the Saoirsen were and attack in great numbers. Helana, Kristy, the guardsmen, and I tried to hold them back but there we too many. We had to call the military to come help drive them away. These people need their leader Osiris! Most of the elders are dead and we have so many wounded no one is sure what to do! Get your ass back here!”

“FUCK! Why now! Zorn where the hell are we? We need to get back ASAP! My people are in trouble!” Rage boiled over in Osiris’ body and mind like a volcano on the brink of erupting. Crimson electricity jumped and snapped over his dark close like lightning running across thunderclouds. His muscles were tight and ready to burst into a full sprint as soon as Zorn figured out which direction they needed to go.

Zorn watched closely as Osiris fought, defeated, and disposed of his beast. It was an interesting battle which gave Osiris a few different obstacles, but in the end he prevailed as Zorn thought he would. The end of the battle finished with a fiery bang and the voice of the old lady once more came over the loud speaker of the chamber. She congratulated the two fighters on a job well done, but Osiris lost his patience with the test and with the old lady. He wanted answers and he wanted them now. But the old lady gave him none and told them that they were free to leave, with only the chance of returning relying on someone else's choice.

The two warriors walked into the antechamber to collect their prizes for winning their battles. Osiris made his way to collect a white robe, that upon him touching, changed from blood red then to black. The other object laying on the desk in the antechamber was a leather bound book. Zorn walked over to it and picked it up, opening it carefully. It was labeled in a language he could not read himself, but his scouter began to translate it for him as he read it. It was a book about martial arts, surely one of the Lost Ones' relics that Osiris had spoke about. They had got what they came for.

Osiris decided that it was best if they left and got back to Iron Mountain to check on his people. Zorn nodded in agreement.

"That sounds good to me. I wish to meet the Saiorsen people. Perhaps I can learn some useful things from them," Zorn commented.

Zorn followed Osiris up through a tunnel that quickly opened up into the daylight, somewhere in a mountain range. Just from looking, it was hard to tell how far they were from where they had started their journey. The first sun of Cauldron was barely up at all, similar to when they had left, which Zorn thought was odd. Were we really down there for an entire day?

The expression on Osiris' face suddenly changed to a look of extreme worry. He was quiet and still for a moment as Zorn looked on inquisitively. Suddenly, Osiris burst out in anger, asking questions only to himself it seemed. But he then asked Zorn exactly where they were, saying that they needed to rush back for the Saiorsen were in trouble.

Zorn quickly clicked the button on the side of his scouter, finding that they were only a click south of where they had entered the cave. They needed to head back to the southeast to get back near the city.

"Southeast! Lead the way quickly, I will keep pace."

Osiris took off in a raging speed, heading to the southeast, back towards the main city of Cauldron. Once they got close to the city, Osiris would be able to direct them to where they needed to go to get to Iron Mountain. But time was of the essence. Zorn took off, hot on Osiris' heals. Zorn had no idea what had happened or how Osiris knew his people were in trouble, but he sensed that it had something to do with Farren and their innate ability to communicate telepathically.

It didn't really matter to Zorn though. He knew in his mind he would do whatever was needed to help the Saiorsens in this time of trouble. He wanted to help. Now was his chance. He would be prepared for anything and as he had just experienced, just about anything could happen on Cauldron. Even the most expected. Zorn's determination to do good and to help the universe was about to be tested. Would he be up to the task?
