Ginyu sat at his desk, staring straight ahead at the assortment of rare items sitting in front of him, He was exceptionally bored. His courier was supposed to have reported to him from Frieza hours ago, and he hadn't made the call yet. Ginyu didn't leave his seat, afraid that Seizanchu would call while he was away, nor did he do anything useful, out of habit more than anything. He stared quietly at his knickknacks, waiting for the viewscreen in front of him to come to life.

Ginyu paused, staring quietly at the gem of telepathy sitting on his desk in front of him, mounted next to a rare quill that used blood as ink and a jade tiger figurine with razor sharp that he had gotten on Frieza and Earth respectively. The gem wasn’t a rare item by any means, but it had a special place in Ginyu’s heart; it to him was quite the item. You could train anywhere at any time; an infinite array of willing test subjects that he could fight, and fight, and then fight again if he felt like it. The gem sitting on that pedestal was more valuable than both of the other objects sitting on the table combined, certainly not in value, but in importance? Most definitely.

The screen in front of him buzzed to life, and an alien courier appeared on screen. Ginyu sighed in relief, then sat up in his chair to face the alien. He was gray, with a bulging head and horns placed horizontally above his ears, making them look more like a head spike than any natural part of his body. Ginyu recognized him immediately. Seizanchu, his only ally and commander of his small fleet, had reported to him at last.

“Hello Saizen, good friend,” Ginyu addressed the soldier informally, using a nickname he had created back from his younger days, when Seizanchu had been a messenger for his father, Captain of the Ijou Fleet. “How goes the reconnaissance on Frieza? Nothing much happened after I left Frost, I hope?” Saizen shook his head quietly.

“Well, my lord, Polar has resumed his old tricks, and the tournament is back, larger than ever. I’ve declined two invitations as of yet,” Ginyu nodded. It was good to hear that his friend had been looking after himself, “… and I believe his assassins are trailing me currently. Now that I upgraded my scouter, reports can continue VIA the messaging system, which is good, as I doubt this is the most efficient means of communication.” Ginyu nodded again; it would be best to keep moving. Frost would take care of Ginyu’s ship. “Frost has your ship in his custody, so don’t worry,” the alien had seemed to read his mind. “I have to go. Best of luck to you on… Namek?” Ginyu shook his had.

“Cataclysmia.” The Ijou smiled.

“Ah, you’ll need it there. Thieving bastards, the lot of them. End transmission!” The alien called. Ginyu repeated the phrase, cutting communications between the two of them. The screen flickered to static once more. Ginyu turned off the screen, and stared at the gem once more. Thoughts of another spar flickered to mind. Ginyu could feel the sleep rushing on his like a blanket, but he pushed it off. He should get going, one mustn’t dull the senses.

He picked up the gem, and tossed it into the air, watching it glitter as it fell back into his palm again. It was warm now, and shining brilliantly with the light and intensity of a small sun. Ginyu closed his eyes, and fell into the void that the gem created.

Falling…

Falling…

Falling until he hit the ground. Ginyu opened his eyes, adjusting them to the light of his surroundings. A deathmatch arena it seemed, just a square patch of tile that was to be the fighting grounds in an empty wasteland as far as the eye could see. Ginyu’s mind felt weighted down mentally, as if something was obscuring his thoughts. Memories of the gem and the Astral Plane were gone, this realm seemed to obscure the knowledge that this wasn’t a real place. As far as Ginyu remembered, he had fallen asleep on Cataclysmia, and woken up here. Where the hell was he? He wandered aimlessly down into the stadium, taking the nothing that was this desolate world was he walked. Utterly confused, he put his head into his hands.

How the hell did he get to this worthless trash planet?

Tired like hell, the meditation began in the corner of his throne room with the earthling music of Otis Redding in the background, enjoying it with a seldom expression being shown through the session. This allowed him to recuperate after increasing his strength with plenty of weights and the knowledge of thousand year old transcripts, highly intelligent researchers and scientists and the most powerful martial artists on the planet. With all of this kind of help at the prince's disposal, no doubt that he would become stronger than he has ever been before.

'Course, a knocking at the steel sliding door disturbed him, as he opened one eye. He stopped his session for a moment, moved to the door and pushed it to the side wanting to know who would dare disturb him. Not surprised, it was Hisae with a clip board held close to her chest. Being 3ft taller than her, a midget was standing in front of him at the moment. Raising one eyebrow moments after the identification of his disturber was confirmed, conversation started afterwards.

"What is it that you need Hisae? I thought it was obvious that I was in my Otis Redding meditation session," he asked, slightly embarrassed that he would actually show interest in anything earth-related. Tailing flopping left and right, a response was due. "The staff is saying that your gem is starting to vibrate and glow a bright purple. Its been locked up in a room until further notice by you, Lord."

Something worthy of being disturbed indeed. Walking past Hisae as she side-stepped, the prince moved through his corridors and quickly turned corners, surprisingly being agile for his height. Everyone walking in the hall saluted to the changeling, before quickly dodging his bulk and then moving on to their original destination unless spoken too. Only head nods were really exchanged to them, before he arrived to a door guarded by a rhino-like alien. The rhino saluted to Cooler, before stepping aside like the rest of the vermin that worked under the prince.

Stepping into the room, the glow of the gem blinded Cooler immediately, before regaining his eyesight in a unfamiliar place. A planet that was dead and vile. Like his heart, which was a fitting description. In front of him was none other than, Ginyu.

"I stopped the voice of Otis Redding just to see Ginyu?" said Cooler, a rhetorical question. More like a surprised question, being disappointed that the Gem would show the leader of the Ginyu Force. Nonethless, the commander was known to be one of the best fighters in the universe. Not to be taken lightly, if it would come down to combat.
