Magen sat on the floor of his arming chamber. The smell of the oils he used to keep his equipment was pervasive, but would die away quickly. Magen slowed his breathing to a inhumanly slow pace, knowing that he actually had no reason to breathe, the rhythm helped him slow his mind down to a crawl. What seemed like several seconds later, Magen opened his eyes, he was on a civilized world at the steps of a great temple. The stone columns rising over forty meters, crested in the styles of ancient earth. Magen stood, he wanted to reconnoiter the location before his opponent arrived if he had already not done so. Taking the massive steps three at a time, the android made quick work of them. At the top, he realized that this was the best vantage point he could possibly hope for. With that he unslung his bolter from his back and pulled the bolt back, chambering his first round, readying himself for the upcoming battle. The android, despite his immense size, took cover behind a statue that's great size only served to make him look like a child. Magen looked down briefly to make sure his trusted axe was handy. He knew in this plane that he needed to not worry, he didn't even need to worry about his equipment breaking, but that fact in itself was slightly disconcerting. He surveyed the area below him, noting the wide boulevard and titanic buildings reaching far higher than this temple he was ensconced within. This was an advanced civilization he knew, maybe more advanced than his current station of Avalon? He wasn't sure if these places were real, but he had no reason to believe that they were considering the fact that he had never visited this place, and the level of detail was so great that he had to have been subconsciously creating this place. He chided himself for the lack of attention being paid to the battleground. He knew such things could cost him dearly when the battle started, and this was the last time he would have time of the ability to lose focus. Words - 353 |

Blackfire looked out of her ship’s window with a suppressed sigh. She no longer even knew who she was. She no longer even cared. The only thing that mattered was fighting. It was the curse of being a saiyan. As if summoned by the simple thought, the red jewel attached to her neckpiece started to radiate a brilliant light. The saiyan orphan ran her fingers lightly over the gem’s surface and let her muscles relax. A flash of light engulfed her, and the teen was whisked away from the living realm. Her feet touched down on a peculiar scene. It seemed like a picture that came from a history book. Blackfire recognized the great temples from Vegeta-Sei, even before the saiyans became the dominate race. Sensing nobody in the immediate vicinity, the orphaned teen decided to explore. Her footsteps echoed off of the stone walls as she padded down inside the temple. The view was aspiring. Multiple hieroglyphics littered the walls. Although Blackfire could not read what they told, she had no doubt that they told a glorious story. As the teen ran her hand over the dusty wall though, a loud click river bated off of the walls, and a great chasm opened up beneath the teen’s feet. Komand’r let out a screech as she plummeted down, completely forgetting that she could fly. As she crashed down into the ground below, Blackfire let out a growl and got up to her feet. Darkness enveloped her momentarily, but all around her, lights exploded to life, revealing a large arena of sorts. Now what? 260 |

The waiting was the worst part. He was trained for combat, he could easily deal with the pressure and the massive amount of sensory input. The problem was waiting for the unknown. He didn't know who he was fighting, he didn't even know what he was fighting. His expert eyes scanned his equipment making mental notes as to the number of spare magazines he had with him. He knew his chain axe was ready. He relished the thought of using such a weapon on a hated foe. His body had started to relax, but he wouldn't let his mind wander. He knew something was coming. The street was completely vacant, the whole city seemed devoid of life. Not that he had left his spot behind the immense brooding statue of some god or another. A heathen god no doubt. But there were no people to worship this god, no people to do much of anything. The night was cool, the dropping temperatures coinciding with the falling of the sun. It smelled crisp, even clean; which was odd for a city. His eyes caught movement above. There was something flying in. No, falling in. His enhanced vision locked in, noting the form of a small humanoid creature. It would land several blocks from where he was, but that must be who he was supposed to meet. His cybernetically augmented physique allowed him to run far faster than a human. He was able to cross a city block in the matter of seconds. The sound from up ahead indicated that something hit the ground hard and fast. Magen wasn't sure that whatever it was could survive a fall like that, but he had heard of Xeno's with the capability to survive much more than that. He peered around the corner as a small woman was getting to her feet. This was a xeno! He knew what he had to do. He cracked a flare over his legplate, the scent of sulfur reaching his nostrils moments before it reached full bloom. When it did, he hurled it around the corner, hoping to startle his prey. The teen didn't have to wait very long to gather her thoughts. A faint whizzing noise met her ears, and the teen spun around to find a small spherical object falling to the ground next to her feet. “Shit...” The bomb was fast, but Blackfire was faster, still. With a single finger extended, the teen launched a small purple beam at the device just as it started to explode, meeting the explosion with another, crippling the weapon's power. Komand'r stood silent for a moment, reaching out with all her senses, desperately attempting to locate her attacker. However, try as she may, the teen couldn't sense anything. Anything with life, at least. Blackfire wasn't stupid. She had faced more than her fair share of androids and other lifeless fighters. All that was left was to find the artificial opponent. That didn't possess much of a challenge at all for the teen. She slowly extended her hands and let out a giant shock wave of power. Instantly, the pillars around her shattered, and the entire foundation of the great temple was unbalanced. The roof started to crack, before the entire underground cavern caved in. The teen vanished from her spot as soon as the light was let in, allowing the entire temple to sink into the ground. Soon, all that was left was rubble. Now, the only question that remained was simple: Was the android fast enough to evade the sudden collapse? 241 |

The stalwart android perked up his ears. He was waiting for the percussion of the flash grenade. A moment later when it didn't happen, he knew something was wrong. "Must have been a dud," he thought as he made a mental note to now throw two grenades, the redundancy could save his life. He waited, tensed at the corner, peaking around slowly. What he saw irrevocably changed his perception of teenagers. Her hands went out and all hell broke loose. Magen was knocked backwards from the pillar by the surge of power streaming from the small girl. He righted his body, his metallic boots grinding him to a halt on the rough stone. The ground was shaking, and he started to move as a massive slab of granite came crashing down towards the android. In less than a second his body reacted on instinct. His muscles drew tight, drawing every ounce of strength he had, coupled with his unbridled faith in the Machine God, and his fist struck a mighty blow to the granite block. He stood between to pieces of granite several meters long. He had survived, his right arm was smashed to pieces, but that was inconsequential to a being such as he. He felt no fear, he didn't know how. When the dust cleared, Magen saw the little girl floating above the chaos. He unslung his bolter which had miraculously stayed attached firmly to his body. It was already loaded and ready to fire, so he aimed quickly and fired a precise burst of rounds that flew through the air at breakneck speeds towards his teen-aged opponent. As he fired he let the gun fall in its sling around his body, and he drew his mighty axe, hoping to get to play with it. He thumbed the activation switch and the axe roared to his defense, the blades spinning at incalculable speeds. Words - 308 |

Dust was still billowing out of the new crater in the realm of sparring. Such an internal explosion would ensure that. Still though, Blackfire could sense nothing, and that fact unsettled the teenager. She let her hands drop to her sides with a sigh. A flicker of movement to her right alerted the teen to her opponent's presence and her amethyst eyes locked with the machine near her. One of her foe's arm was already crushed, a devastating aftereffect from the powerful cave-in. Obviously, the android was in no mood for introductions. Komand'r didn't need to worry though. Just the machine's sluggish movements were more than enough for the teen to gauge his or her strength. And the teen was not impressed. Casually slapping the incoming orbs of energy like they were flies, Komand'r let herself drop down, landing on a petruding rock that made the gravestone of the ruined temple. “You aren't much on introductions, huh?” she called out, taking one hand to brush some stray strands of hair from her face. Her piercing eyes never left her opponent's form. “Guess I'll take the initiative then. My name is Komand'r. And as you have already established, I will be your opponent today.” The teen took a breath of air in and exhaled slowly. Lightning danced around her body momentarily, but Blackfire quickly banished the entrenching presence of Skoll. She would not need his help in this battle. “I've always been curious,” the teen stated, crossing her arms and switching to a much more relaxed pose. “It's been a while since I've battled one of your kind. What are you made for? What is your purpose?” Giving no verbal or optical warning, the teen suddenly vanished in a puff of dust, reappearing behind her foe. “Mine?” she hissed into the android's ear, (or where she thought the ear was) “I must find out who I am. And the only path to that is through strength.” With her last words uttered, the teen suddenly lurched forward with a heavy knee aimed directly at the machine's back. “So let us begin!” 356 |

Magen watched in silence as the shots from his trusted weapon were to no effect. In his mind, he knew what he had to do. He steeled himself for the upcoming melee that was to begin. As he was nearing his opponent (who had thankfully ended her monologue) Magen brandished his axe in an expert flourish intent on putting momentum behind the weighty weapon. Just as he reached her, she disappeared. As fast as she was gone, she had returned. Right behind the massive soldier he heard a faint whisper, but he blocked it out. It was obviously some alien nonsense, intent on disrupting his focus. The knee that plunged towards his back, only served to propel the warrior into a forward roll as he was already moving forward. At the end, he rolled to his feet and started in on his opponent in the opposite direction. Normally, one such as he would not fight someone so young, but her visage was obviously one crafted by an alien being cunning enough to think that it would make a difference. But it wouldn't. Magen reached his opponent and swung in a crosswise motion, axe in his left hand. He continued through, building momentum and power as he swung again and again at the alien girl. Words - 208 |

Blackfire pushed her lips out in a pout-like frown. It was obvious that the android didn't want to make conversation, but the teen was not about to give up. “Hello?” she called out, dodging each and every slash that the metallic fighter threw at her. “Do you have a program in there that can understand what I'm saying? Do you even know how to talk?” As her foe made a final slash, Komand'r let her Ki flow divert directly to her hand. A purple aura started to radiate from it, and she brought it up, catching the ax head by its blade. “You're not very strong, are you?” Blackfire asked in an almost whiny voice. “That's not fun at all!” With those stinging words delivered, the saiyan girl attempted to rip the weapon away from the blue android. At the same instant, a swift and heavy kick was delivered towards her foe's abdomen. However, the teen was well aware that her opponent would not feel pain. The best way to deal with a machine was to break parts from it. A sneering look crossed Komand'r's face and she produced her own blade, which was hanging loosely on her side. The cold, blue metal leaped to life instantly at her touch. The dull blade suddenly erupted into a brilliant blue inferno, though the flames that surrounded the artifact were cold to the touch. Electricity danced around the weapon like lightning in the springtime, and the very aura seemed to suck everything around it into the very depths of the cold and deadly blade. “Alright, if you don't want to be friends, I can't force you. However,” a dangerous gleam appeared in Blackfire's eye. “I must warn you, it is not wise to make an enemy out of me...” Blackfire vanished again, which she seemed to do a lot. Her speed was astounding as she prepared her next attack, a near fatal strike to the very core of the robot in front of her. She was careful not to strike with her full strength though; such an attack would surely sever her opponent in half, no matter how much armor the android was decked out in. 370 |

"Xeno scum!" Magen grunted through gritted teeth. He was pushing his cybernetic limbs as far as they would go, even further. There were some extremely powerful beings in the galaxy. He knew that he was among the strongest, there could only be so many above him. But he also knew that if the Machine God called upon him to purge the xeno from the universe he would be unable to fulfill his task. "You seek to infect me, xeno. I will not listen to the filth you spew." Magen struggled to drive the axe into the alien's hand. The biting blades had no effect on a being of this immense power. He took a kick to the abdomen, sending him reeling backwards, but he maintained a grip on his axe that the teen alien quickly released. She had other ideas. She drew her own weapon, some sort of alien artifact he was sure, as the fire responded to her touch. She disappeared, and Magen was ready this time, as she had resorted to this tactic so often. He spun, bringing his axe around, only to feel disbelief as the alien weapon sliced through the head of his axe, and into his midsection. She made a gouge several inches deep into the side of the android warrior. The damage was too much for his internal damage systems to overcome in stride, and he fell to the ground in front of the alien. His systems quickly caught up, routing power through other avenues, shutting down systems that were no longer needed as he had taken major damage. He gathered his strength, rising with an uppercut, hoping to catch his foe unaware, or at least by surprise. He would not go down without a fight. Words - 285 |

Blackfire quirked a single eyebrow and lowered her weapon, not intending to fight anymore after her final strike. “Xeno?” she queried, mystified. “What is a Xeno?” The teen thought long and hard for a second. “I think you must be confused,” she murmured. “I'm no Xeno. I hail from the planet Vegeta-Sei. I'm a saiyan.” For a second, it didn't even seem like the android registered what she had said. But then, a fist launched upwards, catching the saiyan underneath her chin and rocking her head backwards. The teen stood there for a moment, her head tilted back and the android's fist solidly planted on her neck before a soft growl began to rise from her throat. Slowly, Komand'r tilted her head back down, a very angry scowl present on her face. The punch hadn't hurt, but it was obvious that the saiyan could not get through to the near-beaten machine in front of her. “I've tried to be nice to you,” Komand'r said, her icy voice carrying the chill of the most star-deprived planet. Her usually bright eyes were darkened with anger. “Yet you continue to defy that friendship. So be it.” As if there was no need in the world to hurry, the teen casually brought her open hand up to the android's face. There was no more expression on the girl's face as a purple orb of ki started to form in her grip. The sphere radiated brightly for several heartbeats before suddenly tripling in size. “Big Bang Attack,” the teen whispered, and fired the powerful blast at point blank range. 271 TWC: 1487 |

Things got good and then got far worse. He connected against the Saiyan's chin. She remained unaffected by his strike, and even took the time to talk to him. "I was created to serve the Saiyan Empire," he provided. "I was mistaken, somehow I thought you to be a Xeno, an impure creature. I realize now that I was mistaken." Magen watched the glowing orbs in her hands. He knew what he must do, he had to pay for his transgression against the race he was created to one day protect. His mission would not change because of this, but he must be more vigilant. Magen knelt slowly in front of the young girl. While kneeling, he still remained taller than the teen Saiyan. He bowed his head in penance, and accepted the purple light to wash him clean of his sins. |
