Enter: The Judge The Judge lowered himself to one knee, bowing his head low. The Exorcist did likewise, just a moment after; two black cloaked figures radiated with power of a celestial kind, slowly becoming engulfed with a golden aura. Surely the sign of a holy being. The haunting howl of evil spirits filled the air; pained by the presence of the celestial aura, though still a distance away. "We are drawing nigh." "Surely they are aware of our coming my lord, might we quicken the pace?" "Mhm. The element of surprise has yet to be found scarce in our ranks." Abruptly, the two vanished; a small cloud of dust forming in their wake, rolling along with the wind. The Judge considered their target to be a very desirable place. Though the castle's conditions were less than desirable at the time. It was built as if it were a small house, using a minimal amount of stones. Yet this castle's stones were massive, each far to large to be moved, yet alone stacked by any normal being. Something The Judge considered to be a great indication that they were on their way to the correct place. He had been reluctant at first to accept the mission from the Potara Council; especially with the idea of being paired along side a new partner. He still considered it very early to replace his former partner, though it had been a full millennium. The present times were at hand, and the council desperately needed The Judge back in action. They knew it as well as he did; he was a very valuable piece in the battle of good against evil. The Potara council was a group of the Kaioshin with the highest stature in all of the Galaxy. Together, they carried the task of managing the forces of the Kai. The Judge was one of those forces, and a very effective one at that. His only advantage above the others was his great desire to establish good. Yet like most advantages, it started at a young age. Flashback Lights stabbed at Shin's eyes from high above, even higher than the members of the council. Their forms were only outlined in silhouette; sitting upon their lofty thrones which floated above the court room. Oh how he longed to see them. To gaze upon the faces of the ones who were responsible for the galaxy's dissension into darkness. He hated them, even at an incredibly young age he realized that more could be done than what they were doing now. The Kaioshin could train to become stronger...the council members could ally with alien races who wished to bring good to the universe also. But no, they wouldn't. They spoke down to him in their wretched voices, full of pompous disdain. "What is this small being that's been brought before us?" Behind Shin was his master. A Judge of great power who was there to represent him, but he felt no need to comply. He no longer remembered his masters face, or very much about him at all. Yet he knew that his master had stood by and watched the council's evil deeds, as well as he knew he could represent himself far better than anyone else could. "I am Shin! The hero of the Shin-Jin race!" The elders burst into laughter; not even making the slightest of attempts to hide their true feelings about a hero. He could almost see the thoughts forming in their minds; "A hero? No, we don't need a hero, we need guards to make sure we are able to stay safe!" "A hero, that's preposterous, no one is able to overcome the evil in this galaxy, why should we try." A thought formed for each of the 12 members of the Potara council. Each one doing nothing but fueling his rage. But then the head council man actually said it. Said what they all were thinking. "Nobody's a hero boy. All the heroes of this galaxy are long dead. You are dismissed." Present The Judge remembered this even now as he and The Exorcist strolled towards the castle's front wall. The howl of evil spirits filled the air once more, dreading the coming of the only beings which could destroy them. The Judge always thought he had become used to the howls when he reflected on a mission, yet when he faced them again, it set his jaw on edge just the same. Through the corner of his eye, he could clearly see The Exorcist shivering, even beneath his cloak. However, there was no time to worry about comfort or feelings in the calm before the storm. The only way to solve all of it, was the way forward. Word Count: 794 Total Word Count: 794 |

Both sides of the massive wooden door began to swing open slowly, screeching painfully on it's hinges. Not even seeming to notice; the two assailants continued on into the complete darkness that lay beyond it. Their black cloaks blended smoothly into the shadows, and in the same instant their golden aura made them stick out like a pair of sore thumbs. The Judge could hear many noises beyond his field of vision. Some sounding like the paw of clawed feet on a hard floor, and others like the metallic waltz of an insect a bit too large for hiding under the refrigerator. Not a very welcoming picture in all, though The Judge was sure their welcome would be spectacular at it's least. It didn't take long for both Galactic Guardians to realize that they were at a complete disadvantage. Their enemies in the shadows were not making the most honest attempt at stealth; adding grunts and hisses to the footsteps in the dark. Every once in a while a curse would get spat out by a mouth not made to form human words. All things taken into account, the castle was in desperate need of a purging. "Where are we going my lord?" "Wherever our feet taketh us. However there's no doubt we've been taken account for, you are free to speak now." That comment earned complete silence from the shadows. The demons dwelling within were eager to hear the secrets of the Galactic Guardians. "Why is it that the weak demons flock to higher level demons? I would presume that if a stronger demon is truly vile, he would not support weaker ones." "You are conceiving of the demons in too much of a Shin-Jin manner....to them, all that matters is feeding on any being that they can feed on; to grow stronger and kill even more." "Well that's a bit idiotic, is it not?" "Yes, it is, however we cannot expect of demons anything close to our intelligence. They are the most ignorant of all evil beings, and should be treated as such." That was the trigger. Everything had gone according to plan, and now, they would be ambushed from all sides in pitch darkness by demons of varying power....Wait; perhaps he should have thought this through more thoroughly. Enter: The Exorcist Exorcist. That single word that seemed to utterly define Kai; though he wasn't quite sure if people really knew what it meant. For at a glance, it is a very odd word; drowning in common misconceptions and stereo-types. But for Kai...The Exorcist...it had just one solid meaning. Eradicator of Evil. Kai smiled rather cockily at the figures in the darkness; a mixture of fear, excitement, and disgust. Surely the demons surrounding him could see the smile, but his cloak covered his eyes in shadow; and his eyes are the only place you can see what Kai truly feels. At this particular moment though...it must have been some damn fantastic feeling, because he moved eagerly, as if surrounded by beautiful women instead of horrid demons. The enemy's movements were slow to him; and their unholy rage was quite amusing. The black cloak draped over his shoulders danced and fluttered with his every attack, creating a fierce and deadly ballet. Their celestial golden auras briefly illuminated the appearance of their attackers; an ugly bunch indeed. The majority of them were mutants. Mixtures of animals, men, and various alien species; some the likes of which Kai had never seen before. The one's who weren't mutants were repulsive demons, beings which appear to be human beings which lack skin, and have jagged spikes protruding from places such as their shoulders and their knees. These higher level demons took a bit more effort to defeat, but not very much. The demons' attacks were getting more and more wild and unorganized, pressing in tight on the two men who had so briskly infiltrated their castle. The Exorcist could hear The Judge fighting behind him; letting out battle cries as he tore through the opposing forces. They had used the back to back method before, and it was an effective one by all means. The only difficulty was that they still could not see their opponents, the only thing they could do was intercept and counter. Yet with such a tactic, they couldn't last forever. The Judge seemed to realize it at the same time he did, calling out an order above the chaotic cries of the demons in the darkness. "Crucifix!" The Exorcist knew exactly what that meant, and he knew that it was most likely the only way to continue their mission. Following through in sync with The Judge, Kai set both his hands out in front of him, weaving and ducking in perfect harmony with his partner to avoid damage. The Judge did the same with his hands, baring his palms out at the enemy with violent intentions. Then, a small crucifix appeared in the air, made of the same celestial energy as their auras, appearing to be solid gold; shining brilliantly. Immediately, the crucifix warded off the demons in the front, which began attempting to push the ones behind them farther away. They knew what type of damage it could do. Sustaining the energy, the two fighters in black cloaks turned back to the way they had been walking; directly toward the opposite of where they had entered. The crucifix they each held in both hands shed a bit of light on their path, yet it wouldn't be much useful for anything else. The attack had been made to face only one opponent, it could do nothing against a crowd. Yet each demon feared personal loss, so each backed away, fearful for their own life and unconcerned about the general benefit of the castle; or the death of their assailants. However, The Exorcist couldn't for the life of him figure out why they still hadn't reached the other side of the castle yet, or at least a wall. What was this place? They walked for hours and hours more. The seemingly endless wall of demonic beings had ended long ago, and the extreme and lonely darkness had returned as strong as ever. The two crucifix in the fighters' hands were just enough to light the floor directly in front of them. An elegantly tiled carpet, designed in the image of millions of elegant tongues of flames. After a bit of exploration, they had finally found themselves in a narrow hall, which also seemed to have no beginning and no end. For one moment it seemed the space surrounding them was infinite, and the next they are in a narrow corridor. Now, The Exorcist kept on hand pressed to the wall. His finger tips sliding over it's smooth surface, now virtually numb from the constant rubbing sensation. Yet their luck had not completely run out. Upon changing which part of the wall he was feeling, Kai discovered a small fixture, and it felt...like a lamp! They would finally be able to find their way out, and it had such a simple solution as moving his hand a bit further up. However, once he used the crucifix to light the lamp, it was revealed that the solution would not be so simple. "What is this?" The Exorcists voice was a hoarse whisper, but it still echoed off the space surrounding him. Or perhaps space wasn't an accurate description. It was a hallway, in a very literal sense. On the walls was a wall paper exactly the same as the carpet beneath their feet, and it went on forever. The light extended very far, the ignition of one lamp signaling the ignition of the next until the entire hallway was completely lite. Yet though the light extended as far as their powerful eyes could see, the hallway went on infinitely in a literal sense. It was like looking into parallel mirrors; observing the multiple alternate dimensions within them. Except this was no illusion, and the evil essence of this reality was almost too much to bear. The mission had taken a scary turn for the worst. Word Count: 352 Total Word Count: 2,154 |
