Sairai sat below one of the fossilized trees that pocked the face of Planet Frieza, more for lack of anything better to do than out of any particular enjoyment. He rested his head against the stone-like bark, and looked up at the sky. The stars were out, planets, galaxies and suns of his home system and even others looked down upon him from the sky. It was a quiet night on Planet Frieza, the kind of nights which made Sairai feel like nothing could go wrong, which, of course, they inevitably did. He had been training under Lord Frost for some time now, and his power had risen considerably. He could feel the increased power flowing through his veins even as he rested. It was a power he could call upon at any time he wished, and he had a feeling he’d have to call upon it very often in the future, against those less powerful and those more powerful than him when the time came.

He looked out upon the expanse of the world before him, lost in thought, in dreams of greatness. He imagined himself with all of the powers of the Changeling Race, his transformations exceeding those of every Changeling to have come before him. His eyes slowly drifted closed, until he felt a presence behind him. He jumped forward, using his tail to push off from the ground, and rolled under a ki blast, as it hit the tree behind him.

The Changeling stood up and dusted his clothes off before looking at his assailant. “Oh… You must think you’re real clever, trying to sneak up on me like that…” Before he even knew what hit him, another alien appeared, grabbing him from behind. The other one readied a more powerful ki blast as Sairai was being held against his will. “Oh, how quaint…” he said before grabbing the chameleon-like alien and bringing him around as a shield before the ki blast hit him head on. The alien was nearly instantly killed, and the Changeling himself was knocked back by the force of the blast.

“What do you cretins want with me, anyway?” he asked, his patience growing short.

“Isn’t it obvious? We’re here to kill you.”

“Oh, really? Well, then… I suppose I shouldn’t keep you waiting then.” The icy voice of their target made the assassin doubt his abilities only briefly, but he charged forward and attacked anyway.

“Just as I expected.” Sairai said with a wicked grin and he waited for the being to finish his approach.

As the alien creature approached him, Sairai merely moved to the side, avoiding him entirely as he continued running past. “Is this the fastest you can get? I’m sorely disappointed.” Calculating and always ready with some kind of smart ass remark, the Changeling was always ready to enrage his opponents and cause their thinking to become unclear. Strangely, the alien that had attempted to rush him merely chuckled as he stopped running and turned around.

“You must think I’m some kind of a novice, getting enraged at the drop of a hat,” the being said, a smile creeping across his scaled face. “Or, do you perhaps have no other real tactics than to insult your opponents to death? I wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case.” The assailant lifted a clawed finger and pointed it at the Changeling. “Do you even realize who sent us to have you killed? It was Lord Frost.”

Sairai stopped short of himself at those words. “No. It’s not possible. I’ve been working with him for weeks, and he’s been training me. There’s no way he would send someone to kill me. You’re just trying to get under my skin!” the Changeling yelled. If this was indeed the opponent’s idea, it was working. The shorter being was becoming quite agitated by this time, and his blood was beginning to boil. One of the innate features of the Changelings, much like the Saiyans, was that when they were angered, they could become more powerful, but it would also rob them somewhat of their clear thinking. One of the earliest training types they would take on would be how to take that flame of anger and turn it into cold, calculating fury, which they could actually use to increase their strength while at the same time remaining cool, collected, and most of all, in control.

The Changeling warrior facing these assassins had such training, but was still young enough that his fury would at some points cloud his judgment. “You think I’m going to let you get away with trying to kill me?!” His energy flared up from within. He could feel his muscles tightening, even as he continued to speak. He gripped his fury tightly and held on with all he was worth, his eyes seeming to glow slightly even as he did so.

“Oh, we don’t expect you to let us get away with this, unless you count dying as ‘letting us get away with it.’ We’re going to tear you limb from limb.”

“Oh, really?”

“Yes, really. I expect wholeheartedly to be rewarded for your death, as much as any of my fellows do.”

These idiots must really expect me to not be worth their time… I’ll show them, Sairai thought, powering up to his full power. The “fun” was only beginning, and the Changeling was already tired of his opponent’s empty threats.

Sairai looked ahead of him and the off-pink being before him and tried to get a reading on him. According to the Scouter, his power was roughly half that of the Changeling warrior. Now where would this half-pint get the reasoning that he has a chance in Hell of beating me? Unless… He expanded the range on his scouter and noticed several more acceptably strong power levels nearby, one standing directly behind him. “Really, this is insulting to my intelligence,” he muttered under his breath as he whipped his tail out behind him and caught the one standing behind him by the leg, tossing him into the person standing directly in front of him, sending them both rolling.

“You think you’ll beat me by sheer force of numbers?” His voice, though shallow and barely more than a whisper, carried an intense and blood curdling malice in them that the aliens had not hear before when dealing with him. “I’m absolutely insulted that you think… that you little peons… have any chance against me!

He had finally snapped. It was bound to happen, and the aliens had indeed pulled it off. The Changeling warrior had finally snapped, veins popping out on his face, arms, and neck. He screamed in rage as he pushed his ki beyond his normal level even as the other power levels slowly came closer to him. An unimaginable pain filled his entire body and he screamed once more, though his mind was completely blocked from the physical pain itself. His body shifted, growing taller and more bulky. His arms and legs grew longer and fuller, and even his head took on a particularly frightening change, his horns lengthening and his eyes growing sharper and seeming to glow with a bluish light.

A scowl formed on his lips and he collapsed to both knees before standing once again. “I would never have considered wasting my transformation on you fools, but I absolutely cannot stand it when anyone underestimates me! Not you, not Frost, not anyone will dare to underestimate me ever again!” He rushed forward and unleashed his Daichiretsuzan on the two who he had thrown at each other, cutting them in half before they could even finish disentangling themselves.

As his rage slowly cooled to a controlled frosty exterior, Sairai chuckled to himself. “To think I’m actually letting these peons get me all worked up over something so trivial.”

He checked his scouter again and saw that they were intending to attack him in teams of four. While he had already dispatched four of them, there were still three teams of four left for him to dispatch before they could all find him and team up on him as one solid group of twelve. “I don’t know why Lord Frost would send these… henchmen of his to take me out, but there’s little I can actually do at the moment. I’ll have to seek out each strike team one by one and eliminate them as singular threats before they have a chance to team up on me. Even with the boost my transformation affords me, I doubt I’ll be able to take them all out at once without wasting a lot of my own energy.”

He was angry, yes, but allowing his anger to control him would only lead to him wasting more energy than he had to, or in the worst case allowing himself to die for lack of forethought. “Whatever the reason behind this, I’ll find out,” he said as he floated upward above the crevice he had been resting in. He charged up and flew out and away, seeking the nearest of the teams, his speed allowing him to gain on them in very little time.

As he located them, he noticed they seemed to be trying to come up with a plan of some kind to defeat him. Seizing the opportunity of their relaxed guard, he dropped in on them and spoke very gently, with strong condescension evident in his voice, “Hello there…”

The four aliens looked up at him in shock as a sinister smirk crossed his lips. His eyes narrowed evilly as he surveyed the group in front of him. “You want to play, kids? Well then, let’s play.”

“An ambush?!” the smallest of the group said, his eyes catching those of the Changeling towering above him. “Lord Frost said nothing about him being fast enough to ambush us.”

“Quiet, you idiot. We have to keep professional about this.” The middle alien said. This one was a bit different than the others, his power level was listed at nearly the strength of Sairai’s own at his base level. He also wore armor with Frost’s insignia upon it, which confirmed what the first assassin had been talking about. He looked at the Sairai and nodded his head slightly. “I see you dealt with the first group rather easily. A shame…” He touched a hand to his scouter and said, “Yeah. It’s me. Gather at my position. We’re going to need a little more than four to beat him after all. Hmm? Yeah, bring him too.”

Sighing, the alien stood up and rubbed his legs. “Gotta stop sitting like that for so long. So… you’re Sairai, and you’ve already transformed to deal with the threat. Well, Frost told us this was the strongest you could get, and I think as a team we’ll be able to handle you, no problem.”

Sairai smiled slightly at that, amusement shining through his annoyance. “Oh, is that so?”

“Yeah. We brought a little insurance just to make sure we’d be able to. He should be plenty strong to bring you to your knees.”

“Well, then…” Sairai moved forward and kicked the alien in the gut so hard he was lifted two feed off the ground. “I suppose I should make this quick, huh?” The officer stumbled backward, trying to get out of range, but was almost immediately caught by the waste in Sairai’s tail. “You’re not going anywhere,” the Changeling smirked as he squeezed tightly, snapping the creature’s vertebra and tossing him aside like a rag doll.

He then turned on those remaining and smiled wickedly before blasting each one of them with his One Finger Blast technique multiple times. Chests, arms, legs, head, it didn’t matter to him. He just kept it up until they were unable to even move. Bruised and hardly breathing, the other three dropped to the ground like flies that had been swatted one too many times to stay airborne. Then he dropped his arms to his side as he kneeled before the one he had previously disabled.

“So… This is all you have at your disposal? I’ll be fine, if that’s the case.”

The commanding officer laughed before coughing up some bile and said, “I wouldn’t be so sure. The other eight will be here soon, and one of the teams is bringing our strongest fighter with them. You won’t be able to stop him. He’s more than enough to destroy you…” His words were cut off by Sairai smashing a foot into his chest, making it impossible for him to continue breathing.

“Is that so…?” A malicious smile crossed his lips as he contemplated what that could possibly mean for him. It was too late to ask questions of the now dead aliens around him, so he would just have to find out for himself as the other teams arrived. He planned to save this “most powerful fighter” for last, however, so that he would at least be able to get some amount of enjoyment out of the fight.
