For the sake of argument we'll start with the date being the first of February as a Monday. You join the site on say Thursday and it goes like this: Monday 1st - Sunday 7th: You do a 5k PS and 2 Quests Monday 8th - Sunday 14th: You do a 10k PS and 1 Quest Monday 15th - Sunday 21st: You do a 5K PS and 1 Quest I feel three weeks is enough to demonstrate this. Anything done the 1st to the 7th won't be judged until the 8th. So Monday 8th rolls around, roleplay bonuses are up, all that you have done in the previous week is there now for you to claim. So when it comes to updating, when you post on Monday the 8th all the bonuses you are claiming are for the week Monday 1st to Sunday 7th. You can't possibly claim these before this date, they run a week in hand, just like with a job. You work 40 hours a week, you get paid after doing the 40 hours. So Monday the 15th rolls around, the RP bonuses are up for the week the 8th - 14th, you come to post your update and your claims are for the activities you did in the week of 8th - 14th, you can't claim these before the date of the 15th so titling the update to indicate its for the bonuses of that week. Anyway, end of the month, its March 1st Your updates will look like February 8th Update: Roleplay Bonuses For 1st - 7th -claimed- February 15th Update: Roleplay Bonuses For 8th - 14th -claimed- February 22nd Update: Roleplay Bonuses For 15th - 21st -claimed- March 1st Update: Roleplay Bonuses For 22nd - 28th -claimed- You can look through and see a weekly transition and progress that doesn't inhibit the tracing of consecutive dates. It still follows on, by that point in time you've still got 4 weeks worth of updates, and it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference whether you've claimed it as February 8th, Flobbagob, Giant Spaghetti Monster, Rover or Orange - so long as the context is understandable. I saw a comment that said I couldn't stand to be wrong, all I asked for was the logic that made it right. You don't go into work on the Monday saying "Right I'll do 50 hours this week, pay me in advance" just like you can't surely say to people "Right today is the 8th of February, reward me for what I'll have done on the 14th" There was talk of my larger method above being against the rules, there is actually no such rule about this. Nothing here: http://www.alexsdbzrpg.com/updating.php Here: http://www.alexsdbzrpg.com/howto.php Here: http://forum.alexsdbzrpg.com/index.php?showtopic=10907 Here: http://forum.alexsdbzrpg.com/index.php?showtopic=31440 Or Here: http://forum.alexsdbzrpg.com/index.php?showtopic=7 However... the last one actually states: Posting updates for weeks in advance is strictly prohibited. It actually goes more against posting an update claming what you'll have done on Sunday on the Monday before, than it does against claiming a week in hand. I'll happily follow any rule when there is actually a source for the rule in the first place. If I'm arguing about a rule that doesn't exist them I'm not arguing against the rules, but considering it isn't on any of the important or accessible material pertaining the nature of updates - either its tucked away somewhere incredibly obscure or it really just doesn't exist. All in all its actually a cosmetic difference, no different than if someone uses a slightly different shade of blue or red for their good/evil alignment, there is still the following path of logic and the important integrity of being able to verify character progression and consecutive updates. |

Is this really that serious? Why can't you just do what the mods say and save all the trouble of the aftermath that's going to happen? They've been here a lot longer than you and should know what they're talking about. |

That was a lovely explanation of how you think things should be done. Here's an explanation of the correct way it's done. Today (the 10th) you complete a quest. On monday (the 14th) bonuses are posted for that quest. In your next week's update (11/14-11/20) you can claim those bonuses. If you post that update (for 11/14-11/20) on the 21st... IT'S LATE. That update is now for 11/21-27. Locking this thread. If you repost your inane argument you'll find yourself with another warning for arguing with staff. |
