Hey all,

I was just wondering what kind of music everyone was listening to. I am always on the look out for new tunes to listen to. So I thought it would be cool if you all could write what genre of music you like and maybe some of your favorite bands and what not.

I will start it off.

I am mostly into the Metal and Metacore genre.

Some of my favorite bands as of late:

-Avenged Sevenfold
-Bullet For My Valentine
-Black Veil Brides
-Asking Alexandria
-Halestorm (Check out the lead singer, she is a TOTAL HOTTIE)
-Five Finger Death Punch
-Seether

Look forward to seeing everyone's responses.

I listen to a little bit of everything, but I'm extremely selective on the country and R&B/rap I listen to. Rock and metal constantly dominate my playlists and are what I enjoy playing most (I'm a drummer).

Bands I'm listening to right now-
Seether http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BrwJY4XsAM
Trivium http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XD2jKlCiK0&ob=av2n
Hail the Villain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHG3YOB8nxY
Black Stone Cherry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zfo601LkyGs WARNING: This video has nudity... uncensored... don't click if you don't want to see titties.

My favorites are too many to name.

-Stone Temple Pilots, my favorite grunge rock band of all time.
-Soundgarden, epic as fuck.
-Danzig, 80's metal, kickass.
-Tool, post 90's alternative hard rock, good shit.
-Limp Bizket, the only rap I like, its rap-rock though.
-Rage Against the Machine, the greatest RAPCORE band ever, they have super hardcore riffs with a really good rapper and writer on lead vocals.
-Audioslave, epic as fuck.

Everyone seems to be saying they like 'a little bit of everything' but they're only listing rock / metal bands :/

I AM into everything - I love Dover, t.A.t.U, Lady GaGa, Michael Jackson, Adele [Pop], Alan Jackson, Dixie Chicks, Toby Keith [Country], Metallica, Rammstein, [Metal].

I also love a lot of 70's / 80's music, namely ToTo, Journey and Thin Lizzy

I do listen to a little of everything, though my first love in music is hip-hop and r&b. Yeah, I'm well aware of the fact that I'm one of the very few here that actually enjoy that genre. Anyway, I prefer the music of the 90s over most new music.

In no particular order, my all-time favorite artists are:

Big Punisher
Eminem
Jay-Z
112
Tego Calderon
Don Omar
Notorious B.I.G.
Immortal Technique
Chino XL
Kid Rock
Mavado
Beenie Man
Michael Jackson
Damien "Junior Gong" Marley
Bruno Mars
Outkast
Nicki Minaj
R. Kelly
Slaughterhouse
Talib Kweli
Usher
Lupe Fiasco

EDIT: I've been listening to Hopsin lately. Thanks, Bronos.

Everyone seems to be saying they like 'a little bit of everything' but they're only listing rock / metal bands :/

You can't fault people for liking what they like. I was simply naming the bands that I'm currently listening to the most and I clearly stated that rock and metal are easily the better part of the music I listen to.

This is a list of some of my favorites that could be considered "unusual" to my tastes, just for fun-
Brad Paisley http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwRrKaq0IyY&ob=av2e
Usher (but I mostly dig this selection for Aaron Spears) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNJMI7UMv44
NIN http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwhBRJStz7w&ob=av3e
Luniz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJEcoTRhSjU
Johnny Cash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n--1wR4L7zg&ob=av3e
Counting Crows http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1D5PtyrewSs
2 Pac http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xX5VCY28_Xo
David Allen Coe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WyMrA7ciUA
Billy Joel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4nQB3V10i8
Ludacris http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUUTjmAyliM
Willie Nelson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7vaYOIKWYY
Wille Nelson (X2 BECAUSE IT'S WILLIE NELSON) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZQBm2aUpEw&ob=av3n
Mindless Self Indulgence (warning, explicit lyrics) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHRx_o7GO18
Unfortunately there were several newer country songs I've heard at the bar that I don't know the names of and can't seem to find. :(

A few songs that are "guilty pleasures" ...It's embarrassing, but I love these songs-
The opening for Record of Lodoss War http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcH-gsmS2OM
From the Sailor Moon soundtrack (SM was one of the first animes I got into... In fact, I started watching DB because it was on before SM back in the day) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqMHRKTYDHM

Ya'll have probably never heard of "West Coast" Punk... it's a popular genre in the shitty little town I grew up in-
Strung Out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZBektJdghI
Lagwagon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXcHtIdX4uE
Pennywise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n8TuSVmOrw

Closer to my usual fare-
Cartel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxcVORJ4SB8&ob=av2e
Sugar Ray http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cqU1pFRqYE
Filter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8MAHQhKe7Q&ob=av2e
Caviar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XhmB1hgij8
Sugar Cult http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lovnt5LxMGg

A couple parodies that I like way more than the original songs-
Roll a D6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54VJWHL2K3I
Galactic Empire State of Mind (I can't really express how much I love this video... thanks Fonos!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNyE2xExktA&ob=av3e

Don't feel bad, Diive. I used to watch Sailor Moon, too. Nice call on the double Nelson.

To me, claiming you listen to everything is sort of a cop-out move. A lot of people claim to do it, and virtually no one actually does. There is simply too much music out there to become familiar with everything.

I don't like everything. In fact, I dislike many styles of music. I hardly listen to any type of rap or alternative music, for example. I mean, there a a few songs or even groups in those sorts of genres that I like alright, but on a whole it doesn't do much for me.

This is some stuff I like though:

Rock: Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Beatles, Tom Petty, Genesis, The Alan Parsons Project

Country: Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Faron Young, Tom T. Hall

Singer-Songwriter: Bob Dylan, Harry Mc Clintock (Big Rock Candy Mountain), John Prine, Woody Guthrie, Leonard Cohen, Cat Stevens, Glen Campbell

Dance/Soul: Bee Gees, KC & The Sunshine Band, Earth, Wind, & Fire, Kool and the Gang, Gap Band

Punk/Alternative: The Clash, Weezer (And that's pretty much it for "alternative" stuff.)

Classical: Vivaldi, Mozart, Saint-Saen

Jazz: Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson, Dean Martin, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington

I'm a full-time musician, so I couldn't just talk about listening to music. I'm a bassist, both guitar and upright. I mostly play art music and jazz, although I've played a lot of popular music over the years.

Good stuff on that list Fossil... I dig a lot of classic rock, but there's not much disco I can groove to.

I know what you mean about not being able to just talk about listening to music. Peach can testify to how often I nerd out over percussion. Music is a hobby for me, but it's awesome that you've been fortunate enough to be able to make it your profession.

HOWEVER... I could talk about music for, literally, hours on end and I do listen to a little bit of everything. You may consider it a cop out, but music is like religion... there's no wrong choice except for when you choose to view any choice but your own as incorrect.

While my list might not reflect "a little bit of everything", I've also said that listing all my favorites would be impossible... there's just too much.

Anyway... Good stuff so far peeps. *thumbs up*
