Sarge of ADBZ

Two months from now, there will be a convention for all ADBZ members at the Southeastern Manhattan Hotel Complex. The building is half hotel, half apartment buildings, and conveniently features a convention center in the middle of the building. Nothing fancy, but large enough that Alex, Pan, Sanara, and Fonos - the organizers of the convention - have plenty of room to set up their T-shirts and miniatures made specially for the convention. However, there is a problem. A New York company known as the Lazarus Corporation has had a small... security breach. Soon the streets of Manhattan Island are covered with thousands of people, the experimental subjects... and their victims. The problem? Just how "soon" it happened. At 12:03 AM the first victim escaped from Lazarus Corporation. By 1:17 AM five percent of the island was infected. By 2:23 AM, the first news broadcast and city-wide alert had been announced. But since 1:58 AM the streets had begun to become clogged with undead... beginning with southeastern Manhattan. The Southeastern Manhattan Hotel Complex was only two blocks away from the Lazarus Corporation, and by the time the collective moans of the undead were loud enough to wake the residents, it was already too late to leave. The building manager boarded all the entrances and windows, and did his best to ensure they stayed that way despite the endless pounding of the hordes. The only question now, is whether the building will become a haven... or a tomb. ~~~~ So, the setting is completed, now for the explanation. Like the DBZ Fantasy League, I plan on running this as a game-within-the-game. If the merger happens within the next two months then I'll hopefully turn it into a Side RPG so that stats can be claimed. If not, I'll give the 'winner' an as-yet-undecided reward. This is the beginning of the story; each character will begin their Roleplay waking to the undead menace literally at their doorstep. You will RP your own character, and there will be a few sets of skills and talents for character customization - preferably everyone will choose talents ACCURATE to them, not the ones they feel will benefit them best. From then on it becomes a battle, to survive the hordes, and dangers that may pop up inside the building. Make no mistake, there is only one certainty within the game: You. Will. All. Die. The only difference here is that the last person alive will receive the prize. How long will you last? I'm accepting 10 members into this; I, personally, will be participating, but will not be eligible for prizes/will not break a code of rules I set for myself; my character will be there mostly for plot development, a safety net for anything that I fail to foresee when designing my system, and potentially bait depending on how the story goes. Member List: 1. Mijorin 2. Frieza 3. Watari 4. Eski 5. Karas 6. Future Gohan 7. Raditz 8. Blackfire 9. Gosai 10. Chill EDIT: I'm leaving three spots to be reserved for semi-older members just so that there isn't an overfill, though I doubt that would happen. Further details will be added as time goes on; with any luck, there will be at least half a month between the time the full character-creation and rules are listed here and the time the game begins. We will also need backups; three seems like a healthy number. Those that are backups will come in if someone becomes inactive, but not if they die. Those that are backups will receive rewards; they will receive an epic intro as well as the items of the inactive player, so that the playing field remains roughly even. Backup #1. Ryfer Backup #2. Mukizu Backup #3. |

Alright, the slots are now full. Future backups may be enlisted later if more than three people go inactive, though hopefully it won't come to that. The game may not be as complicated as I had thought it would be to design in a way that seems fair, so hopefully less than two months before it comes out; my goal is a month and a half or less. Over the next 3-5 weeks I'll be releasing the following information: *Stats for characters *Perks for characters *Talents for characters *Short list of SOME items within the game *Mechanics for things like combat, weapons, ammo, etc... *Finally, two weeks or (much) less before the game starts, I'll release a detailed report on how the game will be played specifically, regarding how to RP, move, take 'actions', etc..., as well as a few samples of this, and the character creation sheets. Once everyone has filled out a sheet I'll put up the opening post and people can start their fun. |

Alright, so far the details upon stats ARE: -All players will be alotted the same amount of stat points. -No skill books or physical training. Your stats are your stats are your stats. -Each player will receive 40 stat points. You must place at least 1 point into each stat, and a maximum of 11. Note that having an 11 does not guarantee success in ALL tasks related to that skill (though for basic ones it is likely you WILL auto-succeed), only makes it very unlikely you would fail. There is always the chance of bad rolls. -The stats will be the following: Strength: This is rather self-explanatory. Strength will prove useful in moving objects around, making kills in melee combat, forcing locked doors open, and even holding unsecured defenses against the undead hordes. Speed: Same as above in terms of self-explanation. Speed determines how fast you can run, how easy it is for you to escape from zombies, and how many blows you can make in melee combat before an attacker gets you in a position that they can strike. Reflex: A bit similar to speed, this measures how fast you are - but in reaction time. A world-class sprinter that takes three seconds to react is as easy to chow down on as a couch potato. Reflex will be a largely defensive stat, measuring your ability to avoid danger and react to sudden incursions. By no means does Reflex make you able to defend against anything, though - reacting more quickly to 100 zombies surrounding you in a hotel hallway with no exits isn't likely to help. Much. Stamina: This stat is a passive but important one. Stamina measures your endurance, your fatigue, your ability to continue. The longer your character goes without sleeping, without getting proper nourishment, or the farther along they get in infection stages, the worse their performance will be as their Stamina is drained. While being infected has no cure, taking a long sleep or having a full belly will do wonders for restoring the stamina of someone who has been overworking themselves. Dexterity: A similar term to reflex, but in this game it's use is quite different. Dexterity measures your ability to use your muscles in complex ways, or very delicate ones. Climbing walls, especially unstable ones, is extremely difficult for characters with low dexterity, and it also makes landing what could be a difficult hit with a melee weapon easier as the character has better control, even of unwieldy weapons. Picking locks is also an option for very dextrous characters, and even sneaking past unaware Zombies. Intelligence: A measure of brainpower, Intelligence is a lot more useful than one might thing during a Z-Day event. Intelligent constructors can make better barricades with the same material as a less educated survivor, and will be much more likely to notice slight details that others miss. This means that intelligent characters will get more detailed information without having to specifically seek it out. Accuracy: Accuracy only has one function, but it is a very important one. Similar to one of dexterity's functions, Accuracy increases the ability to hit, but much, much more dramatically than a versatile stat like Dexterity. And it also increases firearms accuracy. Any questions/suggestions/thoughts? Post them here. |

Just an idea: Could we all be allowed to choose one starting item? Like of course you could have a weapon, or maybe something else that might help in the RP, like for example these could be choices: -Handgun -Lead Pipe -Lockpick -Building Tools -Adrenaline Shot |

Here are a list of 'perks' that will be available. These are subject to change and, as always, you can make suggestions, especially if there's one you feel you would have IRL Perk Suggestion Rules: -Should keep it low-key. Perks are separate from talents in that they are low-grade boosts. -Keep it passive. They're also typically passive abilities that are in effect at all time and are broader than Talents. -No giving new abilities. Perks boost performance, they don't change it or grant new performance. Perks: Iron Stomach - Get hungry & thirsty slower, eat expired food safely. Sprinter - Temporary boost to speed when in mortal danger. Night Shift - Better performance to all tasks when on low energy (compared to someone without the perk). Resistance: Harder to infect. Healthy: Improved performance in all physical aspects Deep Sleep: Bonus energy regained while sleeping Sixth Sense: Sense danger before it happens (This can be as obvious as a nagging feeling you get [sent by AIM/PM by me] or something as simple as nervousness. Can be difficult to tell from simple fear being RPed, and may not warn against certain threats, so not a fool-proof danger avoidance ability) Calm & Collected: Receive no performance degradation in high-stress/life-or-death situations. Observant: You notice things that others do not. Repairman: You're an expert at fixing things or constructing things. |

Statistics of the game (These will be the things you have to keep an eye on - or not. Read on). Mental abilities refers to things like searching, noticing things, and generally thinking coherently. Skills and skill performance affects things like lockpicking, firing weapons, and melee combat precision, in addition to many other things. All these statistics are expressed in %'s. Hunger: Refilled by food/water, it affects your physical performance first, then your mental abilities, then your skill performance. Sleep: Refilled by resting. It affects your mental abilities, then your skills, then your physical abilities. Infection: This is a statistic that you have no idea of. It is a % which is not displayed, but is extremely important. Each time you come into contact with infected material, from a zombie bite to zombie's blood spraying into open wounds, your mouth, or your eyes, this goes up. When it reaches 100%, that's it, game over. Over a somewhat-lengthy amount of time your character will begin to degrade, until they can no longer function, and die. At this point they will become a zombie. Depending on their positioning and whether they kept it a secret or not, this could be a potentially disastrous move for the survival team. Here is a list of talents that will be available: Eagle Eyes - Better accuracy with all ranged weapons; more likely to find things Precision Hitter - Better accuracy with melee weapons Survivalist - Improved skills with fortifying, stealth, and shooting Chef - If you prepare food, it increases hunger by significantly more Soldier - Better stamina, less degradation from low sleep, better combat skills Looter - More likely to find items when searching Firearms Collector - Expert at fixing broken and malfunctioning firearms Gentle Touch - Objects are less likely to break when you use them; guns are less likely to malfunction Ask Me About My Zombie Plan - You've read the Zombie Survival Guide, and you remember every word. When a situation comes up where this knowledge is advantageous, you receive a significant advantage. ALSO, AS ONE OF OUR MEMBERS IS NOW BANNED, I WILL BE NEEDING A REPLACEMENT. TO ENSURE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN, YOU MUST BE IN THE TOP 25. OTHER THAN THAT, FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. |

Well, I meant more for the leaving in general. I figure those that have gotten so far up high in the ladder are less likely to quit. I just don't want someone with 4.5k PL joining and then quitting the site in two weeks. I have no prejudice against the newbs. |
