When are we eating?
Another week of training with Lord Frost. It was an honor to learn from him, to pick up any techniques he was willing to teach, but it was coming at somewhat of a heavy cost. His methods were as effectively brutal as they were brutally effective. He was rapidly gaining in strength, having turned his physical might from one of his greatest weaknesses to one of his better attributes.

Still, now that he was making greater strides, his attendants were spending slightly less time on him, allowing him a little more free time. He had evenings off now, and decided to spend this one in a tavern. It wasn't a particularly high class one, definitely not one he would have visited when he was living with his family.

Still, it was a relatively quiet place where he could enjoy a drink, or at the very least down one. He shut his eyes and thought about his training, going over everything that he had done today and trying to see where he could improve. His recollections were interrupted as a group of about a half-dozen aliens broke the relative silence of the place as they entered with raucous laughter and general conversation. Judging by their dress and general attitude, they were probably gangsters. Or at the very least they wanted to be.

He did his best to ignore their conversation, but they weren't making it easy. He tried to close his eyes and return to what he was doing when he overheard one of the gangsters say, "Any of you heard anything about this guy uh... Ambassador Niktol?"

"Who the hell is Niktol?" A second thug laughed, "What are you some kind of politician now, learnin' about ambassadors?"

"Hey bite it. Listen he's some kind'a rich as Frost guy. On his way to some diplomatic conference or some crap, he's got himself a fancy new bodyguard. Real big strong guy." The first one who spoke up nudged a couple of the others, "You see where I'm getting?"

After a couple of seconds of silence, a third one spoke up with a curious, "Where?"

The first alien stared at the third for a minute before very slowly saying, "... Let's kill the damn guy, his stupid bodyguard and take whatever they've got on them. Did you hear the rich part? Means money. Means let's take it."

The third stared blankly at a wall for a second before he smiled and said, "... Oh. Hey that's not a bad idea. Hey yeah!"

Ayakon sighed. They weren't going to shut up anytime soon. His glass was empty so he got up and left the building before the tavern owner noticed. Of course, he eventually would, which meant that going back to that place anytime soon was probably a bad idea. Still... Those excessively loud morons had put a thought in his mind. Ambassador Niktol... He headed back to his quarters to get some rest.

The next morning he awoke to a knock at his door. It took him a few minutes to force himself to get up to answer it. He was supposed to have today off, and had requested to not be disturbed. The door slid open and his underling, Suiji, stood at attention with a message in his hand.

Ayakon turned away but left the door open, silently allowing him entrance in. He walked back in and said, "What have I been summoned to this time?"

"I don't know, sir. I haven't opened it. I didn't figure you'd want me to open your personal correspondence. If you'd like--"

"Yes, Suiji, I would like you to open the damned message. If I need to spell it out for you, there will be severe repercussions." He'd never really snapped at Suiji like that. He almost felt bad about it as soon as he'd done it.

"I'm... Er... Yes, sir. Forgive me." Suiji opened the message and read it.

Ayakon --

My name is Niktol, I am an ambassador visiting the planet Frieza. We have never met, sir, but word of your accomplishments has spread to my ears. I have been subject to at least three assassination attempts, each one costing me several of my bodyguards. I've hired another, a man by the name of Serril, but I fear his protection alone will not be enough. I ask that you meet with me in White City to accompany me on my way to the Palace, where I'm to meet with some of the members of the PTO. Doing this would, I'm sure, keep you in Lord Frost's good graces. I would also be willing to give you some compensation, should you require it. I await your reply.

-- Ambassador Niktol

Aya thought for a moment as Suiji trailed off. "You know I wonder perhaps if the Kais plan things like this in advance. I overheard last night that a small band of morons are planning on intercepting Niktol and killing him before he reaches his destination so that they can take his money."

Suiji frowned at this and offered, "So... we could help protect him? Judging by your description they weren't any sort of threat?"

"I've been wanting to purchase a ship, lately, you know. And sometimes people simply cannot be protected. Send word back to Niktol, let him know I'll take the job and ask for specific coordinates to meet him."

Suiji got to work on this. At first it seemed he would hold his tongue, but after a moment he asked, "Sir? Do you mean... to kill the ambassador, blame it on the thugs and make off with the money?"

Ayakon laughed derisively, "What do you think I am, Suiji, some sort of villain?" He left to his quarters to get ready to leave, leaving Suiji alone in the foyer.

"That is what I fear, sir." Suiji murmured to himself. He leaned against the door and awaited his master.

A few hours and one response later, the two were flying to White City, trying to keep low and out of the way as they made their way there. Aya had suggested they attempt to keep a low profile, because if someone had found out where they were going, it might draw more attention to the ambassador. The less people aware of this little trip, the better my chances are. Ayakon grinned smugly.

Aya noticed that Suiji didn't look entirely pleased with what he was plotting, nor did he seem happy about having to possibly take part in it. Aya forced himself to believe he didn't care. Suiji was an underling, meaning he was lower than the Changeling. A servant.

Before he had anymore time to reinforce this, the two had arrived at the given coordinates.  He dropped to the ground, "Seems as if we're early." As soon as he said it, his Scouter picked up a presence heading towards them. "Or perhaps right on time." He turned about to see a cruiser heading towards them. It stopped just beside them and the door slid open. Another alien, one that was fairly similar in stature to Ayakon, stepped out first. He gave a simple nod, looked around then said, "Clear."

Ambassador Niktol stepped out very slowly. He was an older alien, requiring a cane, with practically no power level at all, "Ayakon. Of the Brumal clan, if my research is correct."

Ayakon crossed his arms and nodded a bit curtly, "It is."

He nodded then looked at Suiji, "And your friend?"

"This is my underling, Suiji. He'll be additional assistance."

"An honor, ambassador." Suiji gave a bow of respect.

The ambassador nodded in return then turned back to Ayakon, "The trip to the Palace from here shouldn't take more than a few hours. Will you ride with me?"

"No, I'll fly above the cruiser, Suiji will fly alongside it."

"Ah, the power of flight, a very useful trick."

Aya ignored this and looked at the other alien, the new bodyguard, "Assuming you've the ability as well, and the speed to keep up, I would suggest you take the other side. We can cover the ambassador from all sides and keep him safe, but stay low to towards the cruiser itself so as to not draw too much attention." Just the right amount should do it.

Without looking at Ayakon, the other alien nodded. He then motioned the ambassador back within the vehicle. "Please, sir." The ambassador took the hint and, with one final nod to Aya, turned to climb slowly back inside the cruiser, "I suppose we had best get going. Time is never on our side with situations like this. I trust you'll be able to keep up with this thing."

The door closed and took off, and a moment later Ayakon, Suiji and Serril took off after it, speeding up to take their proper positions then holding them there. They flew at the speed of the cruiser, Suiji and Serril keeping an eye out for their respective sides, while Aya watched in front and occasionally glanced behind.

Eventually, but not exactly to Aya's surprise, they saw a group of men blocking the road a few kilometers ahead. "It appears to be another attempt. This one is even more brazen than the others." Serril commented. "We should tell the ambassador to stop the cruiser and fly over to meet them there.."

"No." Ayakon responded, waiting a moment so he didn't sound too hasty about his decision, "If we do that then we leave the ambassador alone, and he is defenseless if they have anyone hidden. We should continue forward, meet them head on. We can take them easily. It is the best option."

"... Very well then." The cruiser continued, stopping only a few meters from the same half-dozen thugs Aya had heard from before. "Looks like two to each of us."

"Equal fun."

"Equal duty to protect."

"You are boring." Aya hovered over the cruiser and spoke in a tone loud enough for the thugs to hear, "We have some business to attend to, gentlemen, so if you'll kindly step out of our path, we would greatly appreciate it."

The thugs started laughing and didn't respond directly, but all six of them rushed at the cruiser. Suiji and Serril, for their parts, rushed into the fray and took the attention of a couple of the thugs, leaving two to try and assault the vehicle. Aya took one of them out with a surprise blow to the head, leaving only the leader to face.

"He was surprisingly weak." Aya commented, crossing his arms and flicking his tail tauntingly, "Can you do any better?"

"'Fraid I'm not after you." The alien grinned and slammed his fist downward at the vehicle, punching a hole through the metal. Before he could get any further, Aya's tail wrapped around his arm and yanked it back out of the hole it had created.

"But I'm afraid you'll have to go through me." He held the thug in place with his tail and kicked him in the chest. He let go and then fired a mouth blast to blow him off of the vehicle. "Which, of course, you can't. Fool."

He looked to Suiji and then to Serril. They were both fighting. Suiji was holding his own, barely, but Aya could see that he wouldn't be able to hold out for much longer. A glance to the other side told him that Serril was looking to be in about the same situation. Now would be the perfect time. He peered down into the hole that the thug had created and saw inside the cruiser for the first time. The ambassador was covering something as best he could, and Aya couldn't help but try to see what it was. Money, perhaps? The ambassador shifted and revealed his hidden treasure.

A pair of young eyes peered through the ambassador's robes, looking quizzically up at him. A child. He was protecting a child. One of the same race as him. Likely a grandchild of his... Aya stood back up, I... I could kill the both of them with ease right now and nobody would notice. I could call it collateral damage, kill Serril and tell Frost's guard that we were unable to complete the mission. It would be simple...

He tried to weigh his options, to continue to convince himself that he could do this. He kept trying for a few seconds, but knew that the decision had already been made for him. With a shout of frustration, he powered up his ki to its maximum and threw himself at one of Serril's opponents, quickly dispatching of him with a hard kick to the skull. He then turned on the other and dropped down on him with a hammerfist. Without a pause for breath, the two rushed to help Suiji and before long they'd taken care of all of the remaining thugs.

Afterwards, they knocked on the cruiser door. "It is us, sir. The threat has been neutralized." the ambassador opened it and peeked out. "There was minor damage to the cruiser. I apologize."

"The damage was minimal and of no consequence. Thank you sincerely for your assistance, Ayakon."

"Indeed, you fought well."

Without acknowleding the thanks or the compliment, Ayakon said, "We are not finished yet. We should leave now." He turned to his underling, "Suiji, call in to Frost's guard, have these men disposed of for attempting to assassinate an ambassador. We shouldn't waste any time doing so."

"Y-yes sir." Suiji waited behind to do as instructed but caught up with the group before too long, nodding to his master that the deed was done. Aya nodded in return.

The rest of the ride was eventless, and the ambassador gave his sincere thanks when he'd arrived at Frost's palace. Money was exchanged but all that happened was a blur to Ayakon. He was still frustrated with himself, still stuck in the moment the decision was made. Once everything was completed and the ambassador was ensured to be safe, Aya and Suiji bid the alien farewell and sped off back towards Aya's living quarters.

After a little while, Suiji finally asked, "Sir, may I ask why you decided not to go through with your plans?"

Aya didn't look back, but he sounded fairly upset, "What plans? We were to escort the ambassador to his destination and we have done so. The job is done and there's nothing more to speak of, Suiji."

Suddenly confused, though a little hopeful, Suiji nodded, "Yes sir."
